Hi Teay, we're sorry to see you're unsatisfied with your Blue Yeti microphone. The mute button definitely shouldn't rotate, but click in and out for mute/unmute. But there is another button right below it that rotates because it is also the control for the headphone volume (if one is connected to the mic), and the amount of Gain the mic captures when in use. So if you were thinking the button is defective, that's actually how its supposed to function. Hope that helps clear up some confusion.

    The great white Yeti

This is a fantastic mic. The sound quality you get from this monster is just beautiful. But the drawback is that it picks up the tiniest sound. I live in an apartment on the 8th floor with horrible sound insulation. The mic pics up conversation from a couple arguing outside through a screen door, through a closed window, many floors down. If a brush my foot against the floor, I can hear it with this mic. Yes I had the gain turned down really low. Also you really need a good set of headphones to go with this mic. The knobs on this device are really not-so-good. Some feel solid, but some other wiggle a bit. It really feels like they might fall off if you put to much force on them. Lastly this thing is huge...

Great Mic For Youtube -Vocals, Voiceovers, Podcast

I just bought the blue yeti mic and used it today to record some vocals, and guitar. The sound that comes from the mic a lot better then the set up i had before, i researched online for weeks to find the best USB mic out there and I think i found it. I'm using this mic primarily for youtube videos and recording music. The only bad thing i have to say about the yeti is that it picks up everything, from the smallest tap or cars driving by my house. I live next the the freeway so it picks up the noise from the cars... It has a lot of features and a stable stand that would last forever. Overall i'm very happy with the mic and its performance, i would recommend this mic to anyone that wants upgrade their mic and have better audio for their videos and music.

This mic performs way better than I expected. The sound is clean and full, and it picks up my voice perfectly without catching a ton of background noise. Setup took less than a minute and it works flawlessly for gaming, Zoom calls, and content creation. High-quality build and great value overall.

The "Sherpa" software offers firmware updates and adjustments such as sample rate settings. Let me start by saying, I use this microphone for YouTube and it does it's job very very well. The audio quality is crisp and clean, it has 4 different audio recording settings: Caridoid - which is good for recording 1 person, so this setting is ideal for commentaries or recording yourself singing. Bi-Directional - This setting is good for interviews because it records the sound from directly in front and behind the mic. Stereo - Honestly not sure what good this mode is for. Omni-directional - This mode records sound from all around the mic. This mic is great for someone getting started into either YouTube or podcasting. This mic gets you almost professional audio quality and for $129 that's a steal if you ask me.

I read several expert opinion and literature about USB microphones. I tested 4 standalone microphones, 1 webcam microphone and laptop integrated microphone together before settling for Yeti. If you are interested in listening to sound comparison on YouTube, Just lookup - Multiple microphone unboxing and sound test Little background regarding why we bought Yeti: My son has setup his recording station in his bedroom (i.e. home environment) and it is not a recording booth. We already own ATR2100 which is a great microphone but my son did not want the microphone in the video so he needed something that can record his sound clearly from 20 Inches and ATR2100 is not meant for that purpose. Many people will argue to use XLR + USB Audio interface (to add gain). They are right but with inexpensive USB Audio interface devices (anything below $100) also add unpleasant white noise. So, let us get back to our beloved YETI. Yes, you figured it right – Yeti can capture clear and crisp audio from 16-20 Inches distance. It is an awesome microphone for YouTubers who post gameplays and do not want the microphone in the video. It is also without a doubt an awesome mic. for singers and podcasters as well. They can bring it upclose (like 3-4 inches) with a pop filter for pleasant recording. The best part about it is that you can switch between various patterns to record or avoid surrounding sounds as you desire. Another HUGE HUGE plus is it has a physical “GAIN” knob which when turned clockwise increases the recording volume. As per YETI manual I left it on default (which is right in middle) but we did test it at upto 75% of max and found that there was no distortion in sound quality. Other great feature is a sensible mute button and headphone volume control in front (yup you can monitor your recording with onboard headphone jack). All standalone mics that I bought recorded sound with great clarity but Yeti was clearest and most crisp from 16-20 inches distance. It is very nice from upclose as well. Basically we are very happy with our decision to buy this beautiful beast - YETI. Thanks for taking time to read this review 

I have been looking for a great mic to do music recordings on Garageband. I ironically spent a lot more money than the Blue Yeti Cost on trying to find an affordable recording mic to fit my needs for recording acoustics and vocals. I always overlooked the Yeti because of its $149 price tag, but recently got fed up with trying to find exactly what I need... lucky for me the blue yeti was on sale for $129 so it caught my eye. I returned a mic I had recently bought that just didnt work and applied the money from the return to the blue yeti, Never been so relieved to find a musically involved product. When I opened the box I was caught by surprise at the size of the Yeti, it was not too big and not too small and it had a very nice sturdy weight to it. The design is awesome, its sleek, modern with a touch of retro and fits perfectly on my desktop. I plugged it into the USB on my iMac and it was instantly recognized, better yet, when i opened Garageband it ask me if the blue yeti is what i wanted to use. The only thing that i had to do was go into Garageband Preferences and turn the output back to "built in output" in the Audio/MIDI tab as it routed everything to the blue yeti when i clicked yes to use it in Garageband, trying to use it as the output along with the input. Other than that, it was very accessible. Last but not least, there are four settings to choose from for recoding and the quality of recordings, whether with an acoustic guitar or vocals, are the greatest I have been able to produce and I couldn't be more satisfied with how things sound when lay down a track. The only thing is now, that I may have to leave Garageband behind and move on to a better song writing/recording program...

USB plug consideration aside, Great Mic

Blue Yeti Blackout Edition: Top shelf item and sound pickup is truly incredible, use your gain and windscreen as well as PC settings to control. I had to add further barriers because it's that good. Alas, Now I'll be buying a second one because the USB plug on the mic is "fragile" and becomes a loose (can no longer connect to PC) connection. That is to say that your moving the mic on its pedestal causes the plug-in socket to become larger? And no replacement USB cord can fix that. I even tried adding a tiny piece of tinfoil to no avail. Otherwise an exceptionally good mic with good gain, mute and condenser position (sound) pickup control. Ideal for streamers and Podcasts alike. Just don't move it around much or you'll have $129 paperweight.

Gamer, Podcasting, Vacals? This is it for the $

The mic is very useful for those who are using it for podcasting, or talking to people on chats, and for those inspiring musicians and vocalist. Mic can adjust to 4 different styles. sound is very VERY clear compared to those that uses headset with the mic on it. Basically, sounds like you are talking to someone in real life, face to face. Base of the mic is not shock proof so what ever you hit on the table it will be picked up. May need to buy a shock proof stand. Enough of the specs, for me I game, sing vocals, game commentary. For gaming I mean like talking to people. Sounds really good. Only thing for you gamers is that if you have a clicky keyboard, it will slightly be picked up. I use lowest sensitivity on it. For vocals, it is not bad. Not like those sound you get from your favorite singer but good for those who are beginners or just making music for fun. Great for recording instruments as well. Game commentary or any commentary or podcasting w/e it sounds really nice no disorient sound occurs at all.

It is a good microphone. It is realy easy to use however if you are using this with audacity and the logitech settings are not working i did find that you need to change the input to yeti logitech before it would just say microphone. this mic is good for starting out recording. If you are just using this for youtube discord it is good at that. However i would say that this a good mic for voiceovers as oppose to livestreaming.

I was looking for a major upgrade from my laptop microphone when I'm recording tutorials for Youtube. I came across the Yeti after scouring the internet for reviews. This microphone was within my budget plus provided excellent sound quality. It is easy to setup and I enjoy the various functions the microphone has (for example bidirectional or monodirectional mic recording). Be sure to buy a pop filter and you're all set to record whatever you want!
