I thought it would pick up my voice from further away especially since it was omnidirectional. I had to speak directly into it like a microphone for the kids to hear.

Found the perfect mike for conference calls!

Went through a few lower end microphones and ended returning them all. Not this! Both settings 1 and 2 produced no echo on the receiving end. But I stick to setting 2 (the one with -10db) because the receiving end also does not hear my background fan which I have running all day in my home office. All in all I am very pleased.

Good quality audio, bad design for practical use

Having a small tripod wouldn't be an issue if it can tilt, but it can't, so at best it's aimed chest high when on your desk, making for poor audio capture. Factor in that it likes to spin freely from just the weight of the usb cable, aiming this properly without an armature is next to impossible. Using an armature, it's better, but still a flawed design.
