Sounded Great Until It Didn't

Became unusable for voiceovers. It seems that the build quality has decreased from the old models. Be prepared to replace the microphone in case it starts to break.

Posted .Hi rikka, So sorry to hear about the issues you're having with the Blue Snowball. There are 3 microphone settings that you can use to help with the background noise. With gaming, you'll probably want to use either the Cardioid or Cardioid with -10DB pad. The latter setting reduces the mic sensitivity. Also where you have your microphone set could be another reason for the noise. Not as good as the old blue snowball

I purchased this assuming it would be the same great quality. However, they changed the port to a usb 3.0 plugin for the microphone. I am unsure if this is why the microphone is not as good as the older models, but it constantly makes static noise and sometimes noise does not even get picked up on the microphone.

Posted .Hello sc1998! I'm sorry to hear you're running into issues with the Snowball microphone. A recent Windows update added new permissions that have to be enabled for the mic to communicate with your computer properly. We recommend navigating to your Settings > Privacy > Microphone and making sure that everything is enabled for use with the mic. Access your Sound Menu to confirm that the Blue Mic is recognized on the list. Access your Sound Menu by right clicking on your Speakers/Volume icon and selecting “Sounds” or typing “Sounds” into your Windows Search box. Click the Recording tab and right click on your Blue Mic to select Set as “Default Device”. If there are other Ready devices, please disconnect the device or disable the microphone by right clicking on the device and then selecting Disable. Other devices like webcams or headsets could interfere with your Blue Mic. Disconnect your Blue Mic, wait three seconds, then reconnect your Blue Mic to finalize the changes. On the Recording tab double click on the Blue Mic to open the Properties Menu. Select the Levels tab then select an appropriate volume level (start at midway point of the slider & adjust from there) and make sure that the speaker icon is not muted. Great Sound

It is perfect for Podcasting and Voice-over-IP. You could also use it to record live audio/music. The unit only works off of a USB and sits on a desk. Construction is very good - solid! The stand is metal and compact. The mike is the size of a softball. Installation is as easy as plugging the unit in to your PC. Price is best when on-sale.

Great price but only works about 50% of the time. Will be investing in a higher quality mic soon

Good, versatile mic for the non-techie

It's a good, middle-of-the-road device for a decent price, considering what you get, but the price tag might put it out of some people's range of affordability. I hesitated to buy something that cost this much, but it has been well worth it. I do some singing and voice acting, and the mic works very well for those purposes. It has 3 settings for different things you can do with it, and all you have to do to change those settings is slide a knob on the back of the mic. For a newbie like me, that's a godsend. The instruction manual is very straightforward--just follow the directions, and you should be able to get set up and get recording pretty quickly.

It was cheaper and faster then amazon i was shocked and impressed. The mic itself is great for my desk and my online friends said i sound... uhhmm. "Sexual" i dont understand todays youth but i guess thats a good thing. Dont sleep on bestbuy yall.

This is a good mic for the money

It's easily the best mic I have owned, but I have never spent this much on a mic before. I go this mic to do YouTube videos for the company I work for, and it's doing the job. It's somewhat large, but works fine for me in that I keep it in a bottom drawer, always connected to my computer. I have used it for Skype too, and it works well. I did buy my brother the same mic after trying it out - he likes his too.

Posted .Hi BruceK, sorry to see you're having some performance issues with your Snowball Microphone. Depending on what you're using the mic for, you can use the Sherpa software to tweak some of the settings. There is always the option of upgrading the mic to something like the Yeti Nano or Yeti microphones for better capture quality.

Good microphone for gaming

Blue microphones definitely have a decent quality (I have a Blue myself), and this one does not disappoint. It's been a couple of years and it's still going strong.

Great Buy!

Immediately, we were stunned by the sound quality--even popping ice cubes out of a tray sounded incredible when the mic (which has a great capacity to catch even small sounds) picked it up.

Longest lasting mic
