Not as good as expected! I have allergies and thought an air purifier would help and maybe they do but I did not see any difference with this one.

My husband suffers from bad allergies. We had been eyeing different purifiers and couldn't settle on one until we saw the consumer reports review on this model. We decided to take a chance on it. This unit is SO incredible at removing dust in our environment that we are going to be purchasing a second one with Christmas money. My husband's allergies have been so improved, he's cut back on his allergy meds. On top of that, my asthma has improved as well. My son is no longer complaining that his throat hurts all the time. This unit is fantastic. On high, it sounds reminiscent of a wind tunnel. On medium/low, the volume is awesome and almost functions as a white noise generator - perfect for sleeping! You won't regret this unit. 15/10 score, no kidding.

    chemical smell upon first use

An air purifier is supposed to clean the air, not add a chemical odor into the mix, it defeats the purpose. Took the unit out of the box, set it up, powered it on, and this blast of chemical odor was released into my bedroom. It did not go away either the more I ran the unit. Save yourself the headache (literally) and stear clear of this unit. Not very good quality control on Blueair's part. It's ashame as it is a very attractive, probably highly capable unit. Thanks to Best Buy's return policy, it was easy to take this back.

Many new products release a new smell upon opening and using right out of the box. This is also true for filter media. Filter fibers can absorb a smell from other materials during the packaging process. This smell and all components involved during our filter production are harmless and non-toxic. This newness smell should move through and out of the filter within 48 hours of use. We would be happy to provide a filter free of charge to assist with the issue. Please email [email protected] for assistance. blueair

Hi there, we are sorry to hear that your aren't completely satisfied with your 211+ purifier so far. Please rest assured that your 211+ is capturing significant levels of pollutants and has been independently tested and certified to do so by AHAM, The Association of Home Appliances. While it won't capture everything, it will reduce the amount of airborne pollutants significantly. All of this is dependent on its proper use, meaning that it is in the appropriate-sized space and that the doors and windows to that space are not open. If you have any further questions, please feel free to give us a call our Customer Experience line at 1 (888) 258-3247. blueair

It's an ok air filter. I got it for the living room, but I think it doesn't do a great job. My room isn't big, but doesn't seem to remove or clean the air as it was advertised

Read many reviews that helped me decide on this product, but don't really see any major improvements in my allergies like some people said they did, so, not necessarily worth the money.

    Terrible shopping experience

I purchased a new air purifier at full price. I received a used air purifier that not only had been returned by the previous owner, but his return label with his name and address were still on the box. Now I am being told that Best Buy no longer has this item in stock, so my only option is to return it for a refund. I ordered online and picked up at the store, but in order to return it, I need to go to the extra trouble of packaging it for mailing, or taking time off work for a pick up. And then I am left without an air purifier. I will not be shopping from Best Buy again.

    Smells Like Burnt Plastic

Two of my friends have this air purifier, so I decided to get it based off their recommendations. When I brought it home, it worked well for a week or two, but then started to smell like burnt plastic. The smell was horrible so I had to turn it off. Of course, I’m past the 15 day return policy and now having to deal with Blue Air directly. Save yourself and find a different air purifier. I have a Honeywell and had zero issues the 3 years I’ve had it. If you do want this, purchase on Amazon as they have a better & longer return policy.

    Ok but LOUD

Loud Loud Loud - on its lowest settings its ok. On the medium setting, if there are things on such as a tv or radio its tolerable but annoying in a quiet room. On high its just plain Loud. If your getting on I would get it and use it while you are away from home, but I had to return the unit. Also only ONE button on the front and the slightest touch move the cleaner to a higher level,

    Don’t Do It

I bought this after reading a number of glowing reviews, and really wanted to love it. Unfortunately it didn’t work as I’d hoped at all. I live in an apartment & primarily bought this to improve air quality & stave off cooking odors. At first I was just using it in my bedroom, and the difference in air quality was pretty much indiscernible. Then I tried using it near the kitchen to help eliminate/prevent cooking odors, and after 48 hours of running it on the highest setting, it’s done absolutely nothing to get rid of the food smell. I just wish I was still able to return it.

Our most disappointing purchase EVER through Best Buy in my 25 years as a loyal Elite Plus customer!! Does nothing that we could see in keeping dust and air contaminants down. The fan motor is so annoyingly loud other than at the lowest speed. We tried to put up with it at second and high speeds in order to reap some benefits but to no avail. Wish that we had decided to return it before it was too late. We usually donate items to others in need but this is such a piece of junk that we don't wish to subject anyone else to this product.

The unit received top ratings in the consumer product reviews I read. I bought this product in part because of Energy Star rating. However, now have 13% increase in utility bill after using it. This was unexpected. It is hard to know how well it might be cleaning the air, but the uptick on the utility bill was immediately noticeable.

I am sorry to hear you have experienced this issue. All of our units are energy star rated and the 211+ uses 30-61 watts of energy, depending on fan speed. It should use about the same energy consumption as a light bulb. blueair

I had an ionic breeze from sharper image that’s lasted me a decade or more. I recently purchased this blueair with high hopes due to its great rating. Not only is it 10 x louder than my 15 year old ionic breeze, but I don’t notice that clean air smell that I got with my old air purifier. Overall I’m not happy with it and will be returning it here shortly.
