B450-XT is the next generation BlueParrott noise-canceling Bluetooth, replacing a model with the same model name. Be sure to get this new model, designated OTE922 on the box bottom label! The most obvious visual differentiation is a square “Parrott” button above the power button. The older model B450-XT has a round “Parrott” button above the power button. I was immediately interested when reading its claims of canceling up to 96% of background noise. Impressive! In practice, this appears to be the case. I detest background noise while on a call. During this time when so many of us are working from home, eliminating background noise is more important. For truckers and other mobile users, background noise has always been a concern. This headset is an ideal mobile companion for reasons that will become more apparent as you read on. Once fully charged and Bluetooth was paired with BOTH my iPhone and laptop, I did a little test. For this test and personal demo, I connected only my phone via Bluetooth. After opening iTunes on my laptop, I started, then paused a musical selection. Then, through the B450T, I made a call to a friend. He answered and confirmed that the sound quality of the call was excellent. Then, I started to play the music at a volume I could hear well through my uncovered ear. Could he hear anything in the background? NO, he could not. I leaned in closer toward the laptop screen, closer to its speakers, and continued speaking. Could he hear background noise? When I came within about six inches of the speakers, he commented that he could hear music and correctly identified the tune. I pulled away from the laptop speakers once again. My friend confirmed that the background music interference had faded away. Yes, impressive! That, alone, suggested the winning ways of this headset. And there is more to like with this BlueParrott. Several voice commands add value and convenience. A tap of the BlueParrott button prompts, “Say a command.” The fun begins. “What can I say?” The response includes several options: • Answer – Answers an incoming call • Ignore – Rejects the incoming call and sends it to voicemail (if available) • What can I say? – Provides a list of available commands • Pair mode – Puts the headset into pairing mode • Am I connected? – Verifies that the headset is connected to a device • Check battery – Checks battery levels in the headset and paired device (if applicable) Redial – Redials the last outgoing call • Callback – Calls the last incoming call (if number available) • Cancel – Cancels voice command According to the manufacturer, “The all-new BlueParrott B450-XT is packed with features designed to improve your life on the go. New features include: • IP54-rated protection against dust and moisture • Better comfort • USB-C charging Firmware updates via mobile App” My experience with the mobile App is that, at this writing, it is a work in progress. It may provide false reports on needed updates. This is because their old software thinks the attached headset is the old headset. I have high hopes this will be sorted out in the near future. Until then, I will ignore any prompts to update. Once things are fixed on BlueParrott’s end, hardware updates should be able to occur wirelessly via an updated mobile App. More pluses include the ability to roam quite a nice distance from the wirelessly-connected computer or phone. The company pegs the distance up top 300 feet! That’s more than simple roaming about. HD Voice™ technology provides clearer calls when calling with a mobile provider that has enabled this feature, as it is enabled with my AT&T Wireless network. Here is a definition provided from the Lifewire site: “HD Voice is high-definition voice calling. It's wideband audio technology that offers a superior standard for calls. By extending the frequency range of audio signals, HD Voice does two things well: • Produces clearer, vibrant, and natural-sounding audio • Reduces background noise in any environment With HD Voice, calls are clearer and crisper. This provides a better experience for everyone on a call, whether you're talking to friends or family or teleconferencing with business associates at work.” This a good reason for the clarity of the calls I have experienced. Many Bluetooth (BT) wireless, or so-called “True Wireless” headsets, claim long talk time. Long talk time is important to many of us, myself included. Small, on-ear headsets may have up to six hours of talk time, less if HD Voice is enabled. With the removal of the need for extreme miniaturization, the BlueParrott B450-XT boasts of up to 24 hours of talk time. That, friends, is quite remarkable. Who would need such long talk time? That is not so much the issue. Having the confidence that even with a full day’s use, the B450-XT should go the distance without running out of power is the issue. Even if a user forgets to recharge after work or play, there should be plenty of reserve for another day’s use before charging. The adjustable headband with padded earcup is comfortable and not too tight. I do not feel “pinched,” even after wearing it throughout a full day. My favorite hands-free features are Answer and Ignore. With hands free, choose to answer or ignore a call. The Parrott button is capable of special programming and for use with Microsoft Teems. I did not evaluate either of these. For mobile users, the features and capabilities add up to clearer calls mile after mile, state after state and week after week with the utmost in hands free calling capability, as well as leaving one ear uncovered for safety’s sake. For the rest of us, BlueParrott B450-XT is simply an excellent Bluetooth headset. Included in the box are a foam ear cushion if the user wishes to remove the leatherette one in place, a spare foam microphone windscreen, a mobile charger, USB-C cable and QuickStart Guide. BlueParrott B450-XT is covered by the manufacturer’s one-year warranty.

First of all, I am on web based conferences all day long and night at times. I have worn through a variety of headsets, ear buds, etc. This is a top of the line headset that aligns perfectly to my business needs. I was first impressed with the quality of the build, nothing cheap here. It has a bit of weight but its balanced and not noticeable other than the materials are well made. The molded material is solid and there is a nice soft band on the inside of the portion that goes over the head. It is actually one of the more comfortable headsets I have ever used. Even down to the detail of the non-earphone side. The end piece moves and rotates to accommodate any type of positioning you want on your head, that I am finding is essential to the comfort it provides. As for Call quality, it is amazing! Clarity is perfect! Volume buttons are easily accessible and sized much more reasonably than other headsets, no fumbling to adjust. As for my voice quality, I have received numerous complements on the quality of my voice. I always test new headsets by calling from cell to home and leave a message and do the same from cell to wife’s cell and leave a message. I do this so that I can carefully evaluate the quality of the voice as well as the volume and how well the approximate distance from the mic boom is to my mouth. There is nothing worse than being on a conference call with a “breather”, lol. I always make sure in my testing to pause and breath normally while I am leaving a message to ensure the mic is far enough from my mouth. The headset has the “Parrot Button”. You can customize this with a few different features such as Zello (Push to talk), Other 3rd party apps, Walkie, Talkie & Voice Memo, Speed dial a preselected number and finally Mute ( my favorite). I like to be able to mute on the headset because I am on so many conference calls and if I step away from the computer, I want to be able to mute on and off as needed. One issue I had that I hope they can fix with firmware is when you select Mute, it just beeps and then it beeps every few seconds. It would be great if it would confirm with “Mute On and Mute Off” and still give you the intermittent beeps. I wanted to test this in the car because it seems to be a perfect headset if you are someone that does a lot of calling out of your car, especially if you have a car like mine that is not entirely quiet for road noise. I was amazed. I called two people who said they thought I was calling from my home land line it was so clear. I then called my house and waited for the machine to pick up. I then left a long message, pausing for breathing and even slightly turning up the radio. Wow, was I amazed! They were right. The clarity and quality of my voice sounded like a land line and in no way like I was on my cell. You could hear -0- car noise. This is perfect if you have to take conference calls from the car or other scenarios where there is background noise. I have not been able to get the battery below 50 percent with using it extensively for several hours a day and then turning it off. I am confident that it could easily give you the advertised battery talk time of 24 hours. I highly recommend this headset, Bluetooth range is better than anything I have and voice quality is amazing!

There are so many things great about the B450-XT - light yet sturdy frame, superb noise cancellation performance, long battery life, USB-C charging, comfortable leatherette ear pad that also offers very decent passive noise cancellation, and crisp voice coming in and going out. Prior to getting the B450-XT, I had never spent more than $70 for a Bluetooth headset. I told myself that since I don't drive for a living or spend that much time on the road, I don't need to spend that much money. After receiving gushingly positive feedback from the people I've been talking to with the B450XT on, I now realize that I should've made the jump earlier. They all appreciated the much louder voice volume, as well as the more clear and crisp words that sound more natural. In order to really push this thing, I tested out the B450-XT by driving around town with the window down and going about 50 MPH. Despite the deafening cabin drone inside the cabin caused by my aftermarket exhaust system, my friend told me that I sounded like I was talking to him from a quiet room. It was only after I stuck my head outside the window like a dog that he heard some "whooshing" sounds punctuated by some intermittent clicking noises. Even then, he said the clicking noises were low-volume and non-irritating. I also tested out the headset inside the living room with the TV on and my iPad playing some music video at full volume about two feet away. My friend said that some vocals would carry over to him once in a while but he couldn't really make out the words because they sounded very muffled. During all this time, all of my words were delivered perfectly and clearly. I was very impressed by the battery life as well. Including the 30 minutes it took to update the firmware and the 1 & 1/2 hours of talk time, the battery drained to only 90% after two hours. Not bad! As for comfort, the soft and plush leatherette earpad is fantastic. It is large enough to cover up my left ear and provides good passive noise isolation that makes talking to people and listening to audio a good experience. Even after two hours, my ear felt just fine and had no soreness. I can't say the same about the extra foam earpad that's included inside the box. Because it is completely flat, it offers virtually no passive noise isolation and it feels very uncomfortable and harsh, relatively speaking. As an audio device, the B450-XT is just so-so. Despite having some bass, music comes out muffled and murky. If my Sony 1000XM3 is a 10/10, then the B450-XT would be a 4/10. And my old ~$50 in-ear Bluetooth headset would score a 2/10. In order to get more out of the B450-XT, I downloaded the Blue Parrott app and I liked it for its clean design and intuitive layout. I programmed the Parrott Button to call upon Google Assistant and I was soon able to start calls with my voice and control my smart home devices like lights, security cameras, and wall plugs. The entire setup process within the app was easy and seamless. I just wish firmware updates wouldn't take so long. Out of all the devices I maintain, updating the B450-XT took the most amount of time at ~30 minutes. All in all, I'm super satisfied and happy with the B450-XT. It's got the looks, the comfort, the battery life, and its noise cancellation performance is superb.

This headset sucks, I have a problem with the microphone, people can't hear me well, I couldn't return it in time because I'm a truck driver and I was on the road for more than a month, and best buy don't want to take a look at it, Sad! I spent 169 $ in vain.
