Bosch dishwasher - terrible rack design
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would love to rate this higher. It cleans well, is quiet (not silent but quiet compared to my previous dishwasher), and has a range of settings. However, the design of the racks inside is terrible! I rarely leave reviews but this dishwasher is so frustrating - I wish I would have looked more closely at the racks before buying. I would not have chosen this one and wish I could return it. I've had it for over a month and still can't figure out how to load it to get more than a few things to fit. There's only two of us at home and I have to run it pretty much every day because you can't fit much in it. The tines are too close together to fit bowls or larger items, so if you do a lot of cooking, you'll end up either washing a lot by hand or running two loads to get everything in. Both the top and bottom rack have a row that can be up or down, but I haven't figured out how that helps - where those racks are placed doesn't really help give more space. The upper rack doesn't hold taller glasses or wider mugs well. The utensil holders have strange sizes of slots and way too many - it's hard to fit different kinds of knives or measuring spoons. I've used a lot of different dishwashers over the years and never had a strong opinion on the racks. This design is awful. It's incredibly frustrating to have spent several hundred dollars on an appliance and dislike it so much.

Excellent Dishwasher
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This dishwasher is very quiet and does an excellent job at cleaning even the dirtiest of dishes. Hooking it up was a breeze with the included junction box adapter. Love the plug design of this dishwasher. No more hard wiring.

It's a Dishwasher
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a dishwasher and it washes dishes. So far, it is doing its job just fine. Some things I like about it: - The top shelf is height adjustable. I've got some water bottles that didn't quite fit in my old dishwasher, requiring me to prop them at a slight angle to fit. With the top rack lowered in the Bosch, they stand up and fit perfectly. - Somewhat quiet. What I don't like: - The tines, especially on the lower rack, are way too tightly packed. If you only use plates or shallow bowls you'll be fine. However, I still have not found a good way to organize our deeper 'cereal' bowls and get more than 2 or 3 in at a time, which wastes a lot of room. - The front 'kick plate' looks like it's from a different model, as the holes do not line up with the mounting holes on the dishwasher. Not to mention the fact that the screws that are supposed to hold it on appear to be the wrong size (too small). So, my real answer to 'I would recommend this to a friend' would be "Meh!" I ordered it online (so didn't look at it in person), and my wife was dead set on getting a Bosch. Had I known about the lower rack situation I would have looked at other models to see if they were different. If not, probably would have ended up purchasing this one; if so, may have considered a different Bosch model.

Excellent dishwasher with a couple of quirks
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Bosch dishwasher to replace 6-year-old dishwasher that simply wasn't cleaning the dishes well anymore. Delivery was a breeze--the Best Buy techs were fast and efficient (as always). They were in and out in under an hour and everything worked properly from the start The dishwasher itself is very quiet, and does a great job cleaning the dishes. Obviously that's the most important thing so I'm totally satisfied in that regard. It has a number of different settings, but so far I'm the first couple of months I've mainly used the standard 2-hour wash and it's been great. The quirks come from two things: 1) the bottom rack is set up differently than any other dishwasher I've ever used. It can be tricky to load it efficiently sometimes. I do like that the silverware bin is divided in half. The extra space when you remove one half is appreciated. 2) the lack of a drying option has taken some getting used to. Not really an issue so far, but it's weird to open a dishwasher and see a lot of moisture inside. Again it hasn't affected the performance at all, but it's very different from what most people are used to I think. Overall they're small issues, and not a big deal at all, but you should know what you're getting into since this is a highly rated model. One universal quirk that started in the past ten years or so is that the filter must be manually cleaned. It's easy to do, by can cause problems if you don't do it. This is the standard now and is the car in almost all dishwashers. If you haven't purchased a dishwasher in 10 years or so you may not be aware of it, and it's really important to know. Overall of you're looking for a replacement dishwasher that does a great job without breaking the bank the Bosch is a great choice.

Many great features
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very pleased with this dishwasher. Dishes come out super clean and spot free along with water and energy efficiency. Still amazed at how quietly it runs!!!...a big plus. I do miss the disposal feature in my Kenmore...not used to rinsing dishes so well before loading. Bottom rack is perfect with design efficiency for holding a lot of dishes. However, the top rack is trickier as overall spacing (including tine positioning) makes it harder to fit varied cup sizes and extra glasses. Still, a great product and purchase.

Good for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our old Whirlpool dishwasher gave up the ghost, so we needed a new machine. The lady in the store recommended the Bosch washer. It got good reviews overall, so we purchased it. A couple observations after using it for a few weeks: 1. The inside seems smaller than our old machine. Takes up the same space, though. Just be aware, it holds fewer dishes. 2. Loads up easily. 3. Cleans just fine. (The installer recommended using the Jet-Dry additive because this machine doesn't have a heating element for drying dishes. He said, if you don't use the additive, you won't be happy with the machine. So far, we've used the Jet-Dry and... we're happy with the machine. [My wife did say she was a little disappointed that it didn't have a heating element, but she can live without it.]) 4. It's pretty quiet. That's it. Good luck!

mixed emotions but good overall
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We decided to buy this dishwasher because of its reviews on how quiet it is and how well it cleans dishes. I agree with the first one...it is super quiet and is a jewel comparing to the last dishwasher we had. BUT....1) despite adding that stuff for dry dishes, despite sanitizing option on all the time, the dishes are not dry even 2 hours after the cycle is done so I decided to always do them at nite and open it wide once done...they do dry till morning. I just think a $600 dishwasher should do its job (I should have read reviews properly though) 2) it takes forever, regular cycle with sanitizing: 2hrs 20mins. way too long. when I tried quick wash, the results were not satisfactory 3) I think it's our water problem but no glasses come out clean. I may be wrong but I had much better results with dishes in the old super loud one So overall...just good. it's pretty and quiet but those 3 upper cons don't do the justice, especially not to the price of it.

Good dishwasher.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It works well on some things but not others...initially we were getting glass wear that was coming out dirty still but that could've just been the green juice pulp that was hard to get out after being caked on. We did however put other items not rinsed off in and those came out sparkling clean. We did lower the upper rack and now the glasses are coming out cleaner. The 51 decibels isn't super quiet but decently so in an open floor plan. Racks aren't the best planned out but you have to be creative and will work. Overall a decent low end Bosch for the price. However for the next house I will get a lower decibel point dishwasher if there is a tv in the vicinity. Otherwise the cleaning works well..just awkward rack prongs.

Nice machine
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's very quiet but takes a bit of time to complete a cycle. The racks are set up kind of weird and it's hard to fit things in. I think this can be changed. The display constantly flashes numbers when it's not in use and I can't figure out how to make it static.

She loves it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This dishwasher replaced the black GE which was 7 years old but relatively quiet in our new house. We went stainless, and replaced it with the Bosch Ascenta. This is our second Bosch dishwasher. The first one worked well for quite a while, then one of two pumps in the bottom failed and we had issues getting that fixed and replaced it with a great home depot version Maytag which we left in the house when we moved. This thing cleans better than anything we've ever used. Our biggest issue is properly loading it so things such as cereal bowls do not end up with "rinse water" left in them. Our Maytag seemed to hold our bowls better. It is quiet enough that, in our open kitchen / family room area, we do not worry about when it turns on at all. The bottom rack utensils holder works out the best of any we've used. We had one issue during installation (by me) in that one of the main power lugs was not connected so we had no power. Bosch service came out, diagnosed and fixed issue for free.

Quietist dishwasher we've (never) heard!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After reading Consumer Reviews our decision was narrowed down to Bosch and KitchenAid. They seemed about equal on paper but the price of the Bosch was substantially lower. It is so quiet we often have to check to make sure it's running! Also, there are a minimum of buttons to figure out as opposed to other models. The only disappointments are that it comes in just two colors, white and black, as well as that ugly stainless steel, so now our kitchen appliances are not color matched, but this seems to be the case with all manufacturers now for some unfathomable reason in this day of technology and choice. The other disappointment is that it only comes with a stainless steel tub which seems to generate a decaying food odor if you don't run it for a day or two, even if you rinse the major food particles off before placing them in the dishwasher, which we never noticed with our old plastic tub model, but, again, it seems very few brands offer a plastic tub nowadays.

Quiet but takes a long time
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We waited forever to purchase a new dishwasher. The old GE model made it sound like thunderous tidal waves crashing against the dissipating shore line, literally had to turn our tv up to volume 60 to hear when it was on. We wanted quiet, reliable and space - we got it in our Bosch. Awesome quiet - like it's not happening. If I had one negative about the dishwasher it's the cycle times - where the minimal cycle is 2 hrs! Other than that - no complaints, dishes come out clean - Wife comes out happy - ... I'm happy.

Very quiet, cleans dishes very well.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very happy with it, quiet, can hold normal voice conversation right in front of it while it is running. Holds a lot of dishes, especially the bottom section, about 30% more that my previous GE potscrubber (33 years old, not bad) hope the new one lasta that long. Takes nearly 2 hours for normal cycle, not a problem but would be nice if it was less.

Perfect In Every Way
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can't say enough good things about this dishwasher. Especially when I compare it to the previous Maytag which was top of the line, and for it's 10 year life cycle was not only not effective but required considerable service along the way. The Bosch is indeed the "Mercedes" of it's kind. Superbly well designed, efficient and cleans like no other. Our dishes and glasses now come out not only sparkling clean but as if like new. We don't even know when it's running unless you are right in front of it and listening closely, so watching tv nearby is no longer an issue when running it. A joy to have and use.

I LOVE this dishwasher. No joking!
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best dishwasher I have ever had and I have had 4 previous ones in two different brands. I never thought I would LOVE a dishwasher, but I love this one! It gets my dishes clean every time even if I don't rinse them first and food it stuck and dried on. The only dishes that don't come clean are the ones that have burnt bits on the sides from something being baked in them. However, even these dishes come almost clean and all I have to do is give them a quick light scrub and run then through with the next load.

Great Dishwasher
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Took about a month for our dishwasher to arrive because of supply chain issues but well worth the wait. Replaced our nearly 20 year old GE which was still working OK but had gotten too noisy for our taste and was the last white appliance in our kitchen. It was also starting to have a hard time keeping things super clean. This Bosch unit was very easy to install ourselves. You will only need a 90* elbow fitting for the hot water line but other than that, everything is supplied. You can pick up an elbow fitting rather easily in the Lowes or HD plumbing dept. The dishwasher plugged right into our wall outlet and we did not need the power inverter. Lots of settings to work with. Wish the washer had a pocket for pre-wash detergent but we just sprinkle a little powder on the inside of the door before each wash and inside the detergent compartment for a great wash each time. The normal wash cycle goes a bit longer than our old GE but it gets the dishes very clean. Door handle could feel a bit more sturdy but otherwise the quality is great and looks very nice with the stainless steel inside. SOO much more quiet than our old GE. We can barely tell its running with our TV on. Overall, very impressed. My only complaint is that I wish the washer had a quicker way to dry dishes. Seems to stay moist inside longer than I expect but usually dishes are pretty dry by the next morning after running it at night. Wish Bosch made more mid-entry level priced appliances so our whole house could have their products. Very happy we replaced our GE.

Clean well, quiet and expected to be reliable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought it to replace another Bosch which was almost 10 yr old. Hope this one will last just as long. It cleans well and is very quiet. The controls are very simple to use. It does not have a heater to save energy and prevent plastic from melting and I have no problem with this design. Metal, ceramic and glass come out dry and only the plastic needs time to air dry. The racks are not designed well to hold bowls and pots but you adapt.

Great Dishwasher
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As with another reviewer we had not washed dishes for 2 days before the dishwasher was installed, although we are just 2 people so 2 days of dishes is still not that much. Only 1 thing did not come perfectly clean and that was a muffin pan that had baked on cooking spray on it. As has been said by others this machine is unbelievably quiet, I am hard of hearing but wearing my hearing aids if I am standing next to the machine the only thing I can hear is the water flowing in or out of the machine. This replaced at twenty year old GE dishwasher and out cleans the GE by 2 to 1. My only complaint is placement of the tines in the racks, as I said we are only 2 people so half the tines would be sufficient and the tilt angle is somewhat too steep, I presume to aid in washing but it does make loading difficult. The silverware tray design does prevent nesting which is a nice feature. I feel that Bosch is the new standard in Dishwashers.
