    Cleans dishes well, very quiet

We purchased this dishwasher to replace a Maytag that was failing in getting dishes clean. I used Consumer Reports to narrow down my choices to those with high ratings for washing ability and reliability, Bosch and Frigidare were the 2 highest rated within my price range. We chose the Bosch based on many things including customer reviews on this website. I took my dishes to the store to check that they would fit within the plate tines and they did. I wanted the adjustable rack tines which would allow pots and pans and odd-shaped items. I agree that the interior space is not as large as other brands, but the level of clean and energy savings overrides that negative. Not a big deal that I may have to run it more often. I am still experimenting with the best ways to load it and have not yet been disappointed in the results. I will almost never have 14 place settings to wash at once, our household is 2 adults and 1 dog, we do lots of cooking and baking, and run the dishwasher about once for every 3 or 4 meals. It uses a lot less detergent than my previous dishwasher, only 1 tbsp vs 4, and yet the dishes are clean. I'm very satisified with this dishwasher.

    Great cleaning & affordable dishwasher

This is an affordable budget dishwasher that cleans well, uses very little water and has 2 foldable tines (one in upper shelf and another in lower shelf) to allow you to place larger bowls or pans face down. PROS - Cleans Well - After a week of dishwashing, I only had 1 jar with stuck-on food. Ceramic, glass and plastic dishes & containers all came out sparkling clean! - Pretty Quiet - This dishwasher is pretty quiet (very low hum). I can have a quiet conversation at the kitchen table which is only a few feet from the dishwasher. - Time Display - I hate dishwashers with hidden buttons so I am happy to see this one has easy to reach buttons and a display showing how much time for each cycle as well as showing the time left to finish the cycle once it has started. - Large Silverware Basket - The four sections are large and fit more silverware than my previous Whirlpool dishwasher. You can either keep the grid pattern on the basket to help with separating the silverware for easy cleaning or else you can flip off the grid pattern for an open basket. - Half-Load feature - If the dishwasher is only about 1/2 full, you can use the Half-Load feature to wash your dishes in a shorter time. However, I found the shorter cycle also leaves the dishes more wet so I generally don't use this cycle. NEED TO GET USED TO - These are not necessary bad issues but they do take some time to adapt. - No heated dry - Most dishes come out 99% dry when you use the Normal or Auto setting. You can select Sanitize to increase the water temperature which in turn heats the dishes to a higher temperature which then causes them to even dry more. In addition, open the door as soon as the cycle is complete to let out the steam to hasten the drying process. This is comparable to the dryness of the dishes when we opted out of the "Heated Dry" option for our old Whirlpool dishwasher. - Must use rinse aid - We have very hard water. We use Kirkland dishwasher pacs. In addition, we also add rinse-aid (recommended by Bosch). Our dishes come out sparkling without any water spots. - Smaller & differently laid-out interior - Although this Bosch dishwasher has the same exterior dimensions as other brands, the interior somehow feels smaller. The layout is significantly different from my old Whirlpool. The distance between tines are quite narrow for some rows (great for plates but not so much for bowls. The best bowls for this dishwasher are shallow ones less than 2" deep.) However, the somewhat smaller capacity has not been a problem for us since it takes less time to fill up a full-load so I can start the dishwasher sooner. With the old dishwasher, we would wait for the dishwasher to fill out before turning it on. I got so fed up waiting for clean dishes after a meal that I would just hand-wash them. - MUST CLEAN FILTER - There is no built-in food disposer. As such, there is a filter that you would need to rinse with water about once a week. It's not a big deal since I only found a small 1/4" piece of lettuce in the filter after about a week of use. Bosch does a pretty good job of pulverizing other food particles. CONS - Wet Bottom - After each load, the bottom of the dishwasher is still wet! I leave the door open in between loads for it to dry out to prevent mold! If you don't plan to use the dishwasher for several days, I recommend wiping the bottom dry before closing the door to prevent any mold or odor. Overall, I like this dishwasher due to its cleaning ability and low cost. Most of its quirks are manageable with the exception of the wet bottom. Make sure you take your dishes to the store to try loading them into the dishwasher racks before buying it.

I've only had about a month, but so far so good. Important to me is how quiet it is. I used to have to run my old DW overnight or when everyone was out or way away from the kitchen. Dishes come out clean. So far I love it!

We love how it cleans. Found out though it is so airtight that after putting dishes in there and leaving for 3 days that mold appeared on them. SO don't leave them in washer for days without washing them first. Noise level is good. Quick wash seems to do a good job too.

Hi boush, thanks for your review. We apologize you are experiencing issues with cleaning. Here are a few tips customers have found useful.

      1. Clean the filter regularly (located at the bottom of your dishwasher). Review your owner's manual to learn how to remove it. Wash it with soap and a soft brush under running water to remove debris.

      2. Load the dishes properly ensuring there's adequate space between items. Also, check to see if the spray arms can move freely after loading the dishwasher.

      3. No need to pre-rinse dishes before loading. Just make sure the food is scraped off the dishware. Detergent needs small food debris to cling to in order to work properly.

If this doesn't resolve the issue, please contact our 24/7 customer service team at 800-944-2904, who would be happy to provide real-time assistance. BoschAppliancesUSA

Worried it wouldn't work as well as old dishwasher but it is even better. Gets dishes really clean even without rinsing. Basic wash with sanitizing takes over two hours but it's so quiet we don't mind. Nice feature to see how much time is left.

My OLD dishwasher finally died and I needed a replacement. I had read about Bosch, and Best Buy had it on sale - plus free delivery - PLUS installation for $20. You really can't tell it's running. I ran the first load thru and was so amazed that I sat right in front of it and called people on my phone - nobody could tell I was sitting in front of a dishwasher. It does a great job of cleaning dishes too.

Well! I was amazed at how shiny and clean my items were when they came out of the machine! It does an amazing job cleaning everything. I actually re washed everything in my cabinets! It is a tad bit noisier than I thought it would be, but still very quiet. I installed it myself, and it was not too hard to do. I did see that people complained about items being wet. They are slightly wet, but I simply open the door when it is done and let the items air dry. Be sure to use the recommended Finish product with it, i think that it does make the difference!

Straight out of the box we had problems - there was a dent in the dishwasher. It was missing pieces - we had to go to the hardware store before finishing the installation. The stainless steel - yeah, that's just a stainless steel "look" - you can push the front right in with your hands while wiping the front clean. It's really flimsy. After installing we took off the protective film from the front - it also took off the "o", "s" and "c" lettering in "Bosch" on the front. It runs okay and was quiet for the first few weeks.....but now it's not so quiet anymore. The configuration of the racks is really unusual - hard to fit as many dishes in there as my old dishwasher. It does get the dishes clean - I like that. But the plastic dishes are never dry. Overall, I'm not real happy with my choice. But the dishes are clean now and that wasn't happening with the old dishwasher......

My last dishwasher was destroyed by a broken glass- jammed in the filter, it eventually burned out the motor. This Bosch has a removable filter- and it's EASY to clean. It's quiet, quick and easy to load- and dishes come out clean. It doesn't have a drying element- but I can load plastics without melting them. Most everything comes out dry.

Not a great washer for home user

OK! Fairly enough! I am still giving a fair review on this washer! Why only fair is my approx.. word ? We bought this unit 4 wks ago from Best Buy, We've washed our dishes almost every night . All I can tell you.Compare to our previous GE Profile 2003, This dish washer is performing much much quiet & its stainless looking. That's all! Yes! Bosch's silence system is top gear.. Washing result is clean, However Dish capacity is too small, dish rock is too narrow to each other-. Exterior- looks fine w. clock digital timing control.-but, the problem. It won't shut off automatically. You would have to watch it when it done and use your hand to turn it off. The Interior is stainless, on front, RH & LF. except the bottom board.- which made by plastic at gray color, it looks mismatch for the entire image. But this is not all! The BIGGEST PROBLEM IS DRYING! I hate the heating cycle system. My dishes never get dry, never & ever! The worst thing you 'll see are water steams everywhere inside. It doesn't matter which wash feature you use. dishes never get DRY...! & finally end up to use tower or paper to clean up these steam. Also, it always smell bad. after wash complete.(smell as water steam, stainless and soap mixed up..) Regret that, On this kind of budget expense, we should buy Kitchen Aid or Samsung.! just too late...!

I'm very happy with my purchase. The dishwasher is very quiet, effective, and efficient. The dish rack size is unconventional, but with some practice we were able to figure out best configuration for our dishes. No problem with drying the dishes, just opened the door slightly ajar after dishes are done to let the condensation and steam out. Within 5-10 minutes the dishes are perfectly dry. Would recommend this dishwasher to others.

This is the first dishwasher I bought that did not have heated drying. For the most part it drys well, but you must follow the recommended instructions and use either the Auto mode or Heavy mode (and use rinse aid) for the dishes to dry. Even plastics dry pretty well, although not as good as a dishwasher with heated drying. If I had it to do over, I would get the heated drying option, but again, this machine does an overall good job. As far as cleaning the dishes, it is great!

Shame on you for this one, Bosch

We had a Bosch for 13 years prior, & liked the quietude they’re noted for. I should have cooperated with my wife’s selection of a different Bosch, but did not want to hand-wash dishes for 10 days, waiting for the one she would have ordered. Stupid me. This model did not clean well, left gobs of soap on dishes, occasionally stank, & WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO LOAD IN ANY REASONABLE WAY. I’m an expert at properly loading a dishwasher so that everything gets cleaned & rinsed. These racks are configured unlike anything else I’ve used, & I did not notice this until it was installed. After a year I was just about to replace it, until the spring in the soap dispenser door got messed up, & the only repair option was to replace the entire dispenser assembly for something like $70. I removed the sliding door altogether, & just fill the cup and run it. Now it cleans & rinses well, with no stink ever. I wonder what Bosch would think about my improving the performance by sabotaging their design. I will keep it for a while longer, & will be more critical of the rack design in future dishwasher purchases. I would tell Bosch this: Do not let people who have never used a dishwasher design your dishwashers!
