Gets them clean but is terrible at drying

After every cycle we have to open the door to allow them to dry. We use finish as the dishwasher expects but the drying cycle seems to do nothing. My previous washer was terrible at cleaning, but it dried the dirty dishes it left so im not impressed that when we upgraded we expected a product that would would wash and dry. We also had it professionally installed by best buy so not user error of installation. The dishes in the photo were run yesterday.

Hi JakeinNH, thanks for the review. We're sorry to hear this has been your experience. Please know that your feedback is very important to us and will be shared with the appropriate teams for additional consideration. Your dishwasher is designed to dry using the PureDry® condensation drying system. This is an energy-efficient, closed drying system that does not pull in outside air or use an exposed heating element. This process works by heating the dishes with hot water during the final rinse. The cooler stainless steel pulls moisture from the dishes. The inside of the unit will be wet at the end of the cycle, but the dishes should be dry. It's important to note that plastics don’t retain heat as well as other dishware materials and don’t dry as well. To improve drying results, we recommend turning on the Intensive Drying feature. For any product-related inquiries or support, please contact Bosch Customer Care at 800-944-2904 for real-time assistance. Thank you. BoschAppliancesUSA

I'm just a single guy. My research showed this $1700 dishwasher's build quality (Bosch 800 series) was overall the most reliable. I don't want to deal with things breaking so that's VERY important to me. It was very expensive, but I'm a buy once cry once guy, but I expect it to function perfectly also... and it does. The layout of the racks is WAY better than the 12-15 year old one I had. Amazingly, the top rack does a great job with silverware, allowing me to remove the silverware thing from the bottom rack. The second rack you can drop down the sides of the rack, which I did and these very tall 24oz glasses I prefer fit! Leaving the bottom rack for plates and big things, etc. I generally have reasonably clean dishes that go in, so I use the most efficient cycle "Normal". On my old I used no heat drying and just wiped dry what was left of the water... on this machine it must seal better or something because the dishes were wetter. Anyway, that's not a "problem" as I turned the drying off, but then I tried the crystal drying (or whatever the name is) and it works amazingly well so that's what I'll be doing from now on. I didn't care too much about quiet because my house is very old and my kitchen is absolute trash, and I have a window air conditioner, etc, noise isn't a problem. Having said that my kitchen needs to be gutted and remodeled, badly. The dishwasher wouldn't quite fit all the way under the crappy countertop and it sticks out at least 3" farther then it should. Also, the sides of the cabinets aren't really cabinet sides and are super thin (not more than 1/4") on both sides of the dishwasher. AND on one side this thin barrier is between the two doors directly under the sink, which are no longer there, because my cabinets are trash, lol, so my point is I have far less noise dampening around my dishwasher then you... And I still can't hear it almost at all standing right next to it, lol. I can't even tell it's on if not for the red light! This has been measured at 42dB buy reviewers... anything claiming to be quieter is irrelevant, unless you are sleeping right next to the dishwasher, lol. Finally, the LAST thing I want is everything in my house connected to the Internet so the CCP can hack my home network, lol... I do NOT want things like this connected to the Internet! I was able to disable the wireless and in doing so I discovered it was already off by turning it on, so I had to look up how to turn it back off, which was just do a reset. I hate messing with new things, I'm in IT and it's exhausting, lol, but I always download the manual and have it handy, so I have a system, and this was no big deal. But one reviewer pointed out there are features you cannot use without it being online... I'm not going to be using them anyway, but this kind of sucks... You should be able to control your machine without it going out to the Internet. This isn't a Bosch issue, it's ALL manufacturers. Aside from the that I am very pleased with my purchase, and I can recommend this with zero hesitation.

A good Bosch dishwasher. However, it is not as good as the one we replaced it with. That, too, was a Bosch dishwasher but purchased in 2005. Unfortunately, this one is more cheaply made (or feels that way, anyway). On the positive side, the space for dishes is better organized than our earlier one. There is also a third, top shelf for silverware. It took us a while to know how to use that shelf, but it is useful. On the negative side, there is only one silverware basket than what we had before (2), and it is smaller. Further, the basket has three separated compartments, two small and one large (which is really the size of two small one). So, we ordered independently two separate silverware baskets that divided the space into four compartments. So, now we have 8 separate compartments for silverware whereas before we had double that amount (16). I can see the logic of Bosch in eliminating two large silverware baskets; it creates more space for dishes and allows less crowding of the silverware (since the top shelf gets the overflow). But, for us, that is less convenient than what we had. Otherwise, we are happy with the dishwasher. It cleans dishes, as it should. It is quiet like all Bosch dishwashers. We don't use the drying liquid at all but only Seventh Generation Rinse Aid. Our philosophy is the fewerchemicals that are put on dishes, the better.

The pluses: the third rack is great, the adjustable second rack seems to stay in place better than my older Bosch. The negatives: there's only one flatware basket and it's small and designed so poorly IMO, the wine glass holders don't work and they don't easily flip down when you don't need them, things fall to the bottom of the dishwasher that always stayed put in my old dishwasher, and the start button doesn't let you know that you actually activated it. You have to close the door and look for the red light shining on the floor or listen for it to start. Expected better from the top of the line series. To be fair, I haven't read all of the instruction booklet yet and may learn something that helps with my negatives.

I like the third shelf for arranging silverware which seems to work better than the silverware buckets. The cycle is long at nearly 3 hours, but not really a big deal. It cleans better than my older Bosch. The WiFi connection is actually nice because it works with my Google Home devices and phone to alert me when it has finished running. The only thing I don't like about it is that the controls are on the top side of the door so that they are inaccessable unless it is open because it's hidden under the counter. It would be better if they were on the front.

Almost a Month Since Install - Still Working

    |
    |
    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

It's been close to a month since the dishwasher install was finally completed. The dishwasher is working fine, as you would expect at this point. The appearance fits into the overall kitchen look and feel. The dishwasher is very quiet - much quieter than the previous unit we had. Performance of the dishwasher is meeting our needs - the content are coming out clean, and for the most part, coming out dry with the use of the crystal dry setting. Also using the jet dry rinse agent which is probably helping with the drying action. The third rack setup works pretty well, but definitely is a change coming from a two rack setup in the previous dishwasher. Build quality seems fine. The rack feel a little more flimsy than the previous 20+ year old dishwasher, but they should hold up. Recommendations if you are considering this model: - Purchase a "clean/dirty" magnetic sign. The white light on the front of the dishwasher indicates there is a wash cycle in progress, and you can setup your Alexa and/or google home devices to announce completion of the cycle, but it's easy to miss and it's not obvious at the dishwasher that the dishes are clean. - If at all possible, install this unit yourself, or find a trusted friend/neighbor/family member who can do so. It's not complicated if the plumbing and electrical connections are in place. Make sure the water connection and drain connections are not pinched off as that will result in the machine throwing an error code. You or a trusted installer will be in a better position to ensure it's done right and working right compared to an install team with a tight schedule that needs to complete the job as soon as possible and move on the next install. - Make sure the floor under the dishwasher is not blocked by wires or a junction box from below. Our previous dishwasher was hardwired via a connection from a junction box on the floor. The design of the 800 series requires a clear floor surface. This prevented our dishwasher install for over a week even though all the preparation requirements on the BB site were met. - Consider using the side-mount method for securing the dishwasher vs. attaching to the underside of the countertop. The installers used the countertop and the screws were falling out the next day. I was able to redo the mounting to the sides and it is much more secure. - Make sure to follow the installation guide and/or make sure the installers do so. Be prepared to correct installation errors if you do not do the install yourself, or have trusted installers do the install. - Setup reminders to clean the filter on a regular basis, and also run a cleaning cycle with a dishwasher cleaning tablet on a regular basis. Performance wise, things are fine at this point, but what will really matter is how it's performing in a couple of years. At this point, I expect excellent performance for 10+ years - we'll see how this measures up.

My previous dishwasher was a 2 year old Whirlpool that came with our new house. At 50 dBA both my husband and I felt it was way too noisy. It also didn’t have a third shelf and was the wrong color. I shopped at the BestBuy Marysville, WA Store with excellent Customer Service. I thought I’d splurge on a new dishwasher made by Bosch. Bosch seems to occupy several top spots in Consumer Reports. I ended up buying this model. **Positives: The white color matches my white kitchen cabinets really well. The door is staying clean, no fingerprints. The third shelf is well designed and much appreciated. * Loading: For the first time in decades I’m stumped. Even after watching the video from the company I’m still having problems loading this thing. It’s the most awkward arrangement of tines I’ve ever come across. I have to load and reload…. and load and reload! Who ever came up with this array needs lessons in practicality. * Cleaning: dishes come out very clean, but not as clean as Bosch would like you to believe. Occasionally there’s a bit stuck to my cereal bowl and also a bit of egg yolk on the plate. That’s not a big deal and easy enough to fix. I continue to pre-rinse. Amazingly enough I find the short 60 min cycle to be as efficient as the much longer cycles. No need to overdo it! * Noise: Previous reviewers mentioned how quiet this dishwasher is at 42 dBA. I however, can hear this dishwasher across the room. It’s quieter than the Whirlpool I owned before, but not by much. I’ve owned other brands in the past that were quieter than this Bosch. Big disappointment! * Drying: When the cycle is done (any cycle) the dishes are not dry, and the inside of the door is still sopping wet. I then open up the dishwasher, shake all the water off the plastics, wipe down the edges of the rails, wipe down the door, and then prop the door open with a long rubber spoon. The reason I have to prop the door open to let steam escape is because the door stays in 2 positions only: wide open, or shut. If you try to stop anywhere in between, the door will snap shut. Generally the dishes are pretty dry 30 minutes after I prop the door open. * Wi-Fi: if you want to connect to Wifi you need to first download the HomeConnect app. If you plan on doing that, please read the “Data protection and privacy Information“ chapter very very carefully. You have to “volunteer” an awful lot of your private info in order to run this app. It definitely isn’t worth the convenience you get by using wifi. This isn’t just disappointing, it’s appalling. I deleted the app, I never connected it. I feel so ripped off! I feel a customer should be able to run an app without info being collected about how you use the dishwasher, how hard your water is, how often you use the cycles, etc etc. Providing all that info should be optional, not mandatory! **Final words: The rating I am giving this is 2.5. All in all I consider this dishwasher to be an engineering design failure. It takes much more time to load than any other dishwasher I’ve owned. Drying is so mediocre that it takes a medium size dish drying cloth to sop up the leftover water. Since I value my privacy I can’t run the WiFi option. The negatives outweigh the positives, and therefore I can’t recommend this dishwasher.

I absolutely love this dishwasher. It is so quiet that you do not know it is running until you can hear the water draining under the sink. I love the silverware rack at the top. You can get so many pieces in there. The other two racks are designed well. It just holds so many dishes and it gets them perfectly clean and it is so quiet. The guys who delivered it did a fantastic job, and were so helpful and nice.

We read all of the great review about the Bosch 800 series dishwashers and after three months, it hasn't disappointed. This dishwasher is almost silent, we never know when it's on. The dishes come out sparkling clean and it dries better than our old GE with the crystal dry feature. It's easy to use, and easy to load. We recommend this dishwasher 100%.

This is our second Bosch dishwasher. Like the fact that it is nice and quiet when it runs since we generally run the dishwasher at night. Have only had it for one month and so far it works very well. We mainly run it on the quick wash cycle and have had no issues. Also really wanted a third rack so we upgraded to this one.

Super quiet - even quieter than the previous Bosch

After a decade of solid performance, the previous Bosch dishwasher started kicking out E5 error codes. Frequent cleaning cycles and ensuring the filter was clear helped, but with the upcoming holiday and baking ALL THE THINGS (I love to bake, and practice mise en place when I can), plus potential flu season, I did not want to risk a dishwasher on the blink. I love to bake. And cook. I do not love heaps of dishes. Had a service call, and the tech advised it would be better to replace the machine. Sigh. I searched Consumer Reports and this was the top recommended model. I hunted around for the best price, and Best Buy was the winner. Having bought my previous Bosch dishwasher, plus two stoves and a dishwasher, (not to mention TVs, phones, computers and peripherals), I was very happy to purchase from Best Buy again. The process was painless and the techs that did the installation were great, as I've come to expect. This dishwasher has 3 racks, as the previous model did. What is different: the top rack has flex tines and the middle is a little deeper. Can put small prep cups there, plus my mini whisks fit nicely. The flex tines are great for thicker serving pieces/large serving spoons and whatnot. The middle rack offers more flexibility than the previous Bosch, again with more options for height and additional flex holders. The bottom is ok. I liked the bottom arrangement better on the previous model. But I expect I'll get used to this one in time. Just a matter of plate/pot placement. This model is even quieter at 42 decibels (old one was 48), and uses a mere 3.5 gallons of water. I couldn't possibly do that washing by hand. The top control took a bit of getting used to. Still haven't figured out if there is a delay setting, and I'm not sure about cleaning cycles. But it does have the sanitize cycle option (a MUST if someone in the house is sick), and it does a pretty good job at drying plastic items. Glass comes out sparkling clean, and I've got the raggediest hardest water. I'm talking descaling faucets quarterly kind of hard. But so far, this Bosch gets right through all of it with ease.

Very quiet. Installer was knowledgeable but had strong body odor. Replaced 10 year old Bosch that kept on erroring saying it was leaking but there was no leak. Bosch wanted to charge $400 to repair! Everyone told me just to replace it. Cleans well and the new crystal dry makes dishes drier than old model.

I am very impressed with this machine. I was truly torn when selecting a new dishwasher and like most, spent hours of time looking at reviews. I knew I wanted a quiet machine that dries dishes well. Other features would mostly be a bonus. I will say that I did not want to spend this much on a dishwasher as other brands have just not lasted. Sadly, this seems to be the new norm so only time will tell with the Bosch. Loading is quite different from the Kitchenaid I had before. Not bad, just different. Rack flexibility is very good. I appreciate the size of the third rack and it fits most all utensils. The black stainless looks great and blends nicely with other brand appliances although they are not right next to each other. I really believe you can get all of the above with most brands. What has surprised me is the cleaning performance and the quietness. This machine cleans better than any dishwasher I’ve owned and I was honestly happy with the cleanliness of dishes with my past machines. Drying is also a step up although dish angle matters on plastic and anything that catches water (deeper underside of a plastic cup) but anything would. The quietness is also next level. The only thing I hear when this is running is if I have a loose dish or something like that. The white light indicating it is running is critical to know if it’s on or off. The only thing I am slightly concerned about is longevity. The door latch “sounds” extremely cheap. It’s a plastic click sound vs the solid feel I got with Kitchenaid and Profile. Racks also seem to be a bit thinner but only time will tell if that will be an issue or not. Overall, I am very pleased with this dishwasher. If it lives up to the reliability reputation Bosch has, I will be a convert. If it fails, I will be a forever believer in not spending on the higher end of a modern appliance.

BOSCH makes a very good dishwasher, and a nice looking one as well! By far this is the most quiet operating machine I’ve ever owned, with simple, concealed control features, and it performs extremely well. From its “super-heating” feature for sanitizing your dishes, to its nearly Spotless drying, I am very pleased! It blows the door off of my previous LG, and the other LG dishwasher that I still, unfortunately have in my basement kitchen.

I had a whirlpool when I bought my home that lasted 11 years and it was drying as well so I decided to replace it. I bought a Maytag and did not buy the extended warranty for about $600 dollars. The micro filter had to be replaced 2 years later! And to fix would cost $500! It was so frustrating. And the repair specialist said that same part would break every 3 years. So I decided to purchase a high quality brand. I researched the Bosch, Miele, and Fischer & Paykel brands stood out to me above the rest. However the last two brands if something happened would be more specialized and expensive repairs. So it’s a Bosch for me day 1 looks great and….this time I got the extended warranty. Best of luck and don’t cheap out on this they don’t make them like they used too!
