Super quiet. I have to stand in front of it to make sure it's on. Dishes come out really clean and dry. Love the 1/2 load option. I have had no problems with the detergent dispenser not opening as mentioned in another review, nor have I had any problems with dishes not being dry. Both of these issues are addressed in the owner's manual and explicit instructions on how to avoid these issues are given. I love this dishwasher and would definitely buy a Bosch again.

Great washer, poor dryer

We got this washer about a week ago and it works very well for cleaning. It has a "watery" sound when washing and that is much better than the loud white noise sound of our old GE. The biggest con for me and the thing that kills it for my wife is that it doesn't dry the dishes. There's no option and manual says to use the sanitize function for 45% more dryer dishes which uses more water and takes a lot more time. Glass and stoneware are pretty much dry but anything plastic is soaking wet. This includes the plastic silverware holder. This has sealed its death for my wife and so we're looking to exchange it for something that drys better. Maybe a more expensive Bosch.

Cleans well and is easy to use but don't lose the instructions manual because there are special programming modes based on key combinations!
Construction is sturdy and very tight but I don't like how the water never really evaporates completely, leaving it moist inside unless you leave the door slightly open until all the water evaporated. This may be the same for others with a steel interior but I don't recall ever having this issue with a plastic interior model. The child lock is pretty useless because the On/Off button will override it. I have a friend's 3 year old, who keeps pressing the big large On/Off button. Thank goodness I have an alternative switch on top to cut the circuit off completely but that proves useless when we need to wash the dishes! Aside from that, the unit looks fantastic and feels very sturdy.

washes dishes real well, all plastics dont dry, its very quiet in its operation, the main problem is that when you open the lid after washing, there is a bad smell that comes out. It was professionally installed by Best Buy. We have tried different detergent and the recommended one, still smells.

Except for the salesperson messing up the order on what color it was supposed to be, it is a very good washer. I could've taken it back and got the right one, but when you live 200 miles away from the store, I can't afford the gas to do that.
Extremely quiet, and good capacity - especially when you take the silverware tray out.
The only thing I would like improved is the time it takes to run a cycle. It seems like it takes a long time, but I've never attempted to time it. I am not usually home when it is running anyway.

Replacing my 1984 GE dishwasher with this Bosch model is like night and day. I'm blown away how quiet it is, it's not too hard to figure the electronics out, and it does a super job of cleaning and especially drying.
The only drawback is that the rack is a little too tight and complex for loading dishes and things, but I'm getting around that.

it cleans dishes well. it is quiet enough (we have a combined kitchen living-room).
only minus is the lower rack. Not the smartest construction. my old dishwasher had more space. but that one didnt really clean the dishes ;)

I love how quiet this dishwasher is, we can watch tv & run the dishwasher at the same time. It cleans & dries very well. The one thing I don't like is the smell when there are dirty dishes in it. My cheap noisy one that came with the house never smelled bad inside. I also don't like Bosh customer service, I lost the instructions within 2 days & they wanted me to fax my receipt to them even after I gave them the model #.

We bought the Bosch a few weeks go after our Kenmore died. I decided on this model because of its high rating on Consumer Reports. So far we've been very satisfied with it. I didn't realize how noisy our Kenmore was until we turned on this machine--it's so quiet I have to listen closely to make sure that it's running. The bottom racks took a little getting used to, but once I figured them out, no problem. This is a great machine, especially for the price.

This is definitely not as nice as our old dishwasher that broke. Unfortunately we couldn't afford another one that nice. This one works great at getting the dishes clean and it is very quiet and fast. The things I don't like about it are that it is small on the inside compared to an average dishwasher (probably helps make it quieter), the top rack is not adjustable, the bottom rack cannot pull out very far without falling off the tracks and it doesn't have many variations on cleaning cycles. Also it doesn't dry the dishes very well.
I'd only recommend this if you don't have money for a better dishwasher.

I am extremely pleased with my purchase. The dishwasher is so much quieter than my previous dishwasher and it does an excellent job on cleaning the dishes. It does take more time to do a full load of dishes than my prior dishwasher, but I usually run the dishwasher in the evening anyway. I am still playing with the best way to get the most dishes into one load. If anyone is thinking about buying this dishwasher I highly recommend it.

I owned a Bosch previously and had to leave it behind when we moved, it was a mid range model. When the cheap dishwasher that came with our new home broke only a few months after we moved in, I wanted to replace it with another Bosch and found this for less than $500 at Best Buy on special. Too good to be true, I thought? I read the reviews and was hesitant yet I have had terrible experiences with other brands such as Whirlpool and had always been happy with the Bosch. So I gave this model a try and I am so glad I did! It functions just as well as the $1000 model that I used to have.
I use the Cascade Complete packs and a rinse aid as directed, and the dishes all come out totally clean and dry every time. What a great difference from the cheapo dishwasher, we had to practically pre-wash the dishes to avoid having baked on crud with that one. With the Bosch Ascenta we don't pre rinse at all, we scrape large chunks off and load the plates, pots and pans and they come out clean! They also come out dried than with the Whirlpool or Frigidaire we have owned before, which had heated drying. The Bosch uses hot water and a condensing dry cycle that really works better while lowering your energy bill.

First, I should mention that I didn't realize that this dishwasher did not have a separate rinse cycle until I got it home and installed. We don't run a full cycle every day and sometimes do so only twice a week. I have owned this brand before - a bit more upscale model- so I decided to just go for it. I have not been disappointed. I use the 'auto' cycle and even the 2 day old baked on cheese is nowhere to be found on dishes and flat wear. I replaced a fairly new whirlpool model that was in the house when I bought it that cleaned nothing and was loud. In addition the old one was too short to put the stone wear in and have the water arm go around. This one doesn't have an adjustable upper shelf but the bottom is tall enough for pots, tall plates. my plastic cutting board. So, I do not miss the rinse cycle and am pleased with this lower cost model

I have had this a few weeks now and am very happy I made the purchase. I was a little nervous about it as so many complained about the loading capabilities of the Bosch line. It did take some trial and error to get it right, but if you played enough Tetris in the 90s, you should be able to work it out. We hold about 3-4 DAYS of dishes in there with a family of four. Typically, the top rack fills first and then we try to determine if we should run a short load or not, but after moving some coffee mugs to the bottom, it balances nicely.
This thing is also whisper quiet. Hearing the water running in there is about the only thing you can hear. So nice.
Run the kitchen water for a moment until it gets hot and then start the washer. Helps with cycle pretty nicely.
This is also a Consumer Reports top pick and I can see why.
I would have rated it a 5 if it had an adjustable top rack that I could raise and lower.

I chose this dishwasher for two reasons: Consumer Reports' high rating, and the price was reduced and included delivery, installation and haul-away of my old dishwasher. So far I am very pleased. I have only had it for a few weeks. It is ultra quiet! It cleans the dishes very well. We run the dishwasher only once every 5 days or so, and even with the baked on grime, the dishes come out sparkling clean. I am very satisfies with my purchase

As stated in other reviews, the dishwasher is much louder than expected. It is more than twice as loud as the old GE that it replaced. Luckily, I rarely run the dishwasher when I am home, often starting it as I leave the house for the day. Also, the unit itself does not come with a power cord (must be able to wire hot, neutral, and ground properly), the 90* elbow, or the brass connector to attach the copper tubing to the dishwasher. I pulled all these parts from my previous dishwasher.
On the good news side of things, it cleans my dishes spotless. I do not use the dry feature in order to conserve energy, but open the door and pull out the racks to let the dishes air dry. It has plenty of options for loading multiple dishes and the silverware rack has individual slots to help separate each piece for an ideal clean. I like the 'lint' trap and find it simple to remove for cleaning. It has enough wash cycles for what I need and is easily programmed for delayed wash cycles. I think this is a great option at this price point. If one can afford to buy a higher end Bosch, I would recommend doing so as they seem to be much quieter (based on two friends having them). I would be willing to give this model an excellent rating if it was not for the excessive noise when in use.

Lowest priced dishwasher that actually works

I'd give it 5 stars if it was not for the minor marketing compromises BOSCH made in oder to price it lower. Ironically, adding those features would cost them nothing.
After trying Maytag, Kenmore, Frigidaire and similar brand dishwashers, on the lower price range, but pretty close to this Bosch model, I was finally fed up. There is NOTHING in under $500 range from those brands that can actually WASH dishes. They just make a lot of noise. They also look exactly like one another internally, and many actually are made by the same foreign company and just get rebadged. Those brands are pretty dead. They are trying to sell on their reputation from the old glory days.
I finally realized I would have to spend about $500 on a quality dishwasher. My main concern was: Can it wash the $%$#^@$@# dishes?!?
Well, this Bosch can. Everything pretty much comes out clean, every time. So, alreay 3 stars right there.
It is quality-built, unlike the other similarly priced, perhaps just slightly cheaper, junk I mentioned above. The machine just feels solid and well designed. It is also VERY different in design and looks really well thought through, inside and out.
Sound insulation, never a big concern for me, is actually so nice, you can hardly hear it running. I did not expect that. I am used to noisy dishwashers that do not wash. This one is NOT noisy and washes. Go figure.
I took one star off because Bosch "Crippled" this model a bit by not giving it a separate rinse cycle. Oh, how absurd. The cycle is obviously there since the machine does rinse dishes. You just cannot select it manually. A workaround is to run a half wash cycle to get similar rinse only results. I can see them not giving you fancy cycles on higher end machines, but rinse cycle is so basic, it should be included.
Another reason for 4 stars only is that the racks, while good, could use more adjustable spaces. Again, would cost Bosch next to nothing. But, I guess they try to drive you toward higher end machines.
Overall, I am happy and would buy again, as well as recommend. I also recommend a service plan if you want to keep it for a while. Together with a service plan the price was still pretty good, and I dont have to worry about dealing with repairs myself again.
