We have had to return this product that we thought so highly of. The speakers knock and not even on the highest volume. We purchased for the family room and it’s just disappointing.

The price wasn't worth it. This sub doesn't sound the great at all. I can barely hear the bass. It could be different depending on your room. But in mine, it didn't really bump at all. I was extremely disappointed. I returned this and the 700 soundbar and went with the Sony HTST5000. The Sony sub is way better sounding to me.

This has been the biggest nightmare of a purchase!! Buyer beware!!! Buy at ur own risk!!! We bought the bass module 700 with the soundbar 900 alittle over two months ago. It’s has been nothing but problems the base module started making a really loud popping noise I took it to have it checked and there was absolutely nothing that can be done about it!. I was told that the power cable that it came with was the wrong cable and I had to buy the correct cable. Im so upset that I paid so much money for a useless item

      Hi Rebecca,

Thanks for choosing Bose for your home theatre. It's disappointing however to learn that you've had issues with popping from the Bass Module. Popping can be almost always related to interference from a nearby wireless device. This is because the US/Canada has restrictions on frequencies that can be used on a consumer level, with others reserved for the military. This means that many devices in your home operate on similar frequencies and can conflict with each other.

To prevent this from happening, move items like your internet router elsewhere in the home and not between your bass module and soundbar. Alternatively, wired connections between the speaker and the bass module can be a good solution.

Still need help? Reach out to our team today! We'd be happy to help.

This sub needed to be set to max volume (+10) to even come close to comparing to the output from its Sony, Samsung, JBL, or Yamaha competition. Even when the volume is there it doesn't hit the low notes you want it to. The 8 inch sub in the Samsungs destroy this guy. Is laughably weak compared to the Sonos sub.

Not as impressed with BOSE as compared to setup in store. Remember in store they control what you hear, Normal Dolby, etc. from TV HDMI doesn't have as impressive content. Not saying product isn't good. Just saying don't expect most broadcast content to sound any better than with other brands.

Good Bose subwoofer, but I want a bit more punch and oompf. Admittedly, I may need to play with the settings a little bit more and get the mix right, but I feel like I have it to where it should already be punching me in the face...

Hello James, I'm glad that you are enjoying your Bass module. The smell you are referring to can be the system off gassing, this can happen when glue on the driver is heating up. This odour will dissipate over time. However, If the system is feeling very hot to touch or shows signs of burning, please contact our technical support team who will be more than happy to assist you: bose.life/3rykPZR. It's all about that bass? You have to control this unit with your phone app. I got this expecting great theatre sound. BIG disappointment! If you turn it up to get some bass you mostly get some continuous buzzing. The big bass sound isn't there. Where is it?

This is a horrible product. I’ve spent 3 months trying to tweak it and make it stop being annoying, but it’s a disaster and now it’s too late to return it. I have it paired with the Bose Soundbar 700 - which I love - but the bass module is not a good addition. When playing anything from the TV, it makes LOUD popping and buzzing noises. I have to turn it OFF. With music, it does its job but with extreme overkill. I have it turned down to 10, but the vibration is too much and too loud. It detracts from music, instead of complementing. Bose needs to take this back and rework this technology. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Hello Eileen, I am so glad to hear that you love your Soundbar 700. I am sorry to hear you are experiencing some issues with popping and vibrations from your new bass module. Did you re-run ADAPTiQ when you added the bass module? This would re-calibrate the system to maximise your listening experience. To prevent popping, follow the steps here https://bose.life/3iPyZiK.

For an expensive piece of equipment the set up is awful. There is a one page instruction sheet that basically tells you to download the app. Once that is downloaded you are supposed to walk through the set up. Sounds great unless the app can’t find the sound bar. Then you’re lost is a circle of turn it off and turn it back on. Turn off the network which it’s not connected to. Turn off the sound bar for 30 seconds. Turn off the wireless device. Nothing works and make no mistake, this speaker is far from wireless. It also requires a hdmi or optical cable. Terrible terrible instructions and app from Bose. This speaker and base module will be going back first thing tomorrow.

      Hello Ricardo,

Thanks for the providing your review of the Bass Module 700. We appreciate your feedback. Please run ADAPTiQ audio calibration for the best acoustic performance. If you just added the Bass module, you need to run it again when the room is quiet. Here's how: Select Settings > ADAPTiQ > Run ADAPTiQ.

      Hope that helps. Thanks again!

When using this , whether the box is facing up , left , right , or centered , I could never get a good sense of immersion from the sound since I’m personally hearing the sound only from one side of the place ( technically I can hear from both sides of the living room but you can tell by a huge difference)

I have had a bose sound bar system for several years. I decided to upgrade my lifestyle 135 soundbar system to the new soundbar 700 paired with the bass module 700. After one week I’m very happy with the upgrade. Unboxing: When the boxes arrived, I was surprised by the size of the packaging. Thankfully the soundbar itself is only a little bit longer than the previous model I owned, and it’s noticeably thinner. The bass module is a decent size bigger than the subwoofer I had, so I did have to make some minor changes to my furniture set up to fit it in. The only other thing to note from an unboxing perspective is the lack of including a wall mount in the box with the soundbar (not unexpected). I had to place a separate order to get the wall mount, which I don’t have yet as of this review. Appearance: The glass top on the soundbar and bass module is beautiful! It’s a significant aesthetic design improvement from my previous Bose model, or any sound system I’ve owned from Samsung or Sony. While this isn’t the most important factor in a sound system, it’s nice to have a system that looks great and sounds great. Set up: I’ve seen some negative reviews on this topic, but my own set up could not have gone much smoother. After unboxing and figuring out placement, I connected the soundbar into the HDMI ARC connection, downloaded the bose music app, and got going. The app literally walks you thru step by step, connecting to the soundbar and bass module as needed. It also walks you thru the adaptiq setup; it’s always fun to make the wife move out of your favorite spot on the couch so that the software can configure to your particular room layout. Since I don’t have the wall mount yet, I will have to redo the adaptiq setup one more time, but that’s not an issue, just a minor inconvenience. WiFi set up and connecting Alexa was also simple, only requiring your amazon password to complete the setup. This is my first Alexa device, so it will take some time to remember the correct commands to get her to complete things. I’ve gotten her to tell me simple things like the weather outside and the score of college football games. The remote was only part of the set up that was not seamless. I’ve seen many notes about future software updates for the remote, which I look forward to, but for the time being I need to have a couple remotes handy to completely control TV, cable box, & xbox. I was up and running with everything in about 30 minutes. Performance: I’m blown away by this soundbar! If for nothing else, this soundbar seems to have nailed the perfect balance between dialogue on TV shows or movies and the rest of soundtrack. It was almost worth the entire price of this system to watch something and not have my wife ask me, “what did they just say?” or have to blast the sound to hear characters speak. I haven’t watched that much content that gives the bass module the opportunity to really show what it can do, but some content that I did watch... the storm scenes in The Haunting of Hill House are insane. You can feel the thunder pounding on you and the sounds of the rain coming from the soundbar really make you feel like you are in that house with them. I look forward to having time to sit back and enjoying a lot more. I’ve listened to some music via amazon music, using Alexa to play songs. It works as you’d expect and the music sounds great, filling my entire (small) house. I wish there was direct support for apple music, but I can always connect via Bluetooth to play music from my ipad or iphone. While I haven’t had the chance to yet, I am planning on adding the wireless surround sound speakers to the set up as well. The system makes me what to have the full set up, to experience everything the soundbar 700 system can offer. Overall: This system, the soundbar 700 and the bass module 700, is expensive and it is worth it if you enjoy hearing and feeling sound. There’s little effort to get this up and plenty of awesome sound afterwards. Highly recommended together.

      Hello,

Thanks for your feedback. Popping/Crackling is generally due to interference from nearby electrical devices. This is because many items (such as internet routers for example) operate on the same wireless frequency as the subwoofer. You can mitigate this by moving the bass module to a different location, or moving the sources of interference. If that isn't possible, I recommend using an audio cable to make a wired connection instead. That will then bypass the wireless transmission and completely eradicate any pops/crackles.

Hey, sorry that you've experienced some connection issues between your Bass Module 700 and your Soundbar.

It's possible that this may be due to some interference. Have you tried hard wiring the bass module? You can do this with a 3.5mm to 3.5mm AUX cable. I'd also recommend that you reset both the bass module and the soundbar by removing the power for 30 seconds.

If the issue persists, please do not hesitate to reach out to our customer support for further assistance. - http://bose.life/globalsupport
