Posted .Hi Saul,
I understand that you've returned the Bass Module. The popping noise could be wireless interference from near by devices, and can be helped by cutting down on nearby sources of interference.
The burning smell can happen as part of normal off-gassing when speakers are used for the first time, and will fade over time.

high price, ok sound, small feature set
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.the good: - nice design - The glossy black is understated yet sleek. Relatively small footprint. - volume - No issues cranking up the volume using the Bose Music app. - stable connection - No issues with cut outs in sound or instability of signal. the bad: - a bit boomy, and loose, certainly at this price point. Plenty of volume if you turn it up, but the bass is not well defined. Sounds a little loose to my ear…not horrible, but noticeable if you have listened to better quality subs. - no crossover control. It’s tough to tell what the loose bass might be a product of either incorrect crossover setting (poor handling of too many higher frequencies) or just lower quality components used in manufacturing. - no manual pairing or level control - It appears to require the Bose 700 soundbar. It would be nice if you could pair this sub with a different soundbar, and control it with something other than the Bose Music app. - price - For $700, you’re certainly not getting much bang for your buck. For $200 less you can get a substantially better SVS PB-1000. Granted, it won’t have “Bose” on it, and it won’t be wireless. But it is a world of difference in terms of sound quality. overall: This one was a difficult review for me. It’s not an overly bad sub, but it definitely has some drawbacks. Somewhat boomy bass aside, the lack of connection options outside of the Bose 700 soundbar is disappointing. The price tag alone warrants a better sounding and more thought out sub. Since this sub requires the the Soundbar 700, and you must purchase them separately, you're looking at $1500 for the system. Pretty high price tag for just "ok" sound in my opinion. 3 stars

Fabulous Sound!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Recently acquired the Bose 700 Soundbar & the Bose 700 Bass Module. The products were very well packed & after viewing the booklets that came with them I was expecting a simple hook up to my TV. Well that wasn't the case. The booklet instructs you to connect the power cord then get the Bose App from either the Apple or Google store. Quite frankly the App is useless. It completely fails to instruct you what the features of the remote control are and fails to provide any help should the system not operate correctly. In our case blue tooth worked great, but with the TV we had a problem. We were getting sound from both the soundbar & the TV at the same time. Thru dumb luck we found a YouTube video that walked us right thru resolving the problem. It was a simple matter of going into the TV's programing & turning off the TV's speaker. We're still searching for an instructional video of how to program the remote control. Currently we have to use our cable remote to turn on TV & cable box & switch channels & we have to turn the Bose sound bar on with the Bose remote. Oddly enough our cable remote will turn the sound bar off & control the volume. As for performance & sound quality I can only say WOW, what an improvement. You almost think you are listening to surround sound, it's that good. I believe if Bose would simplify the installation instructions perhaps by making their own video, a person could install the system in less than 10 minutes. And if we can ever get everything to work on one remote control I'd be doing back flips with excitement. As it is now I just jump with joy.

Amazing Lower End Extension!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Bose Bass Module 700 is a great option for those wanting to add more “boom” to their Soundbar 700 or Soundbar 500 system. The unit itself is relatively small, but the output is very noticeable. For those who love action films or want a deeper bottom end for their music listening pleasure, this is highly recommended. Packaging: Sturdy, but a little overkill. The power cord is almost hidden in a much-wasted side compartment area. I found it, so all was good. No damage, for sure! Set-up: Soooo easy. It connects wirelessly to your Bose Soundbar and is ready to go within minutes. It’s suggested to perform the calibration with the headset after adding the Bass Module. I found that to be accurate, since the sound from the system seemed to be more fine-tuned after calibration. Sound and appearance: Deep, rich sound. It’s a 10” woofer, so plenty of deep end. For the price, don’t expect the lowest octave… I’ve owned those subwoofers in the past and they are in their own category. They also come with a very hefty price tag. The Bose Bass Module 700 is a perfect addition to their compatible soundbars at a price that’s within reason. Conclusion: Well worth a listen and a try. Go find your nearest retailer and give it an audition. You won’t be disappointed!

Inconspicuous
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This subwoofer is heavy and powerful. It is relatively small but designed with one of the cleanest sounding basses in the industry. It can be paired wirelessly to the 700 soundbar via the app. Set up is a breeze and pairs amazingly with the 700 soundbar. You can't go wrong with this one.

Finally, A Real Subwoofer From Bose
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is not your typical Bose "Acoustimass Module" or Subwoofer that we've become used to, usually using a pair of 5 1/4" drivers in a ported enclosure using multiple port tunings. This thing actually uses a proper 10" transducer and a 400 watt on board amplifier and produces adequate bass. The fact that you can actually use a pair of these things as well should further improve things. This is what they should have been using all along. I've owned this sub for almost 3 years now with the 700 sound bar and matching surrounds. Has worked wonderfully for me so far the last 3 years.

Superior Bass Module
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a wonderful bass module. The bass is punchy and impactful. The bass is not at all distorted and does not sound too boomy. The bass is very smooth and has a decent amount of pump to it. The Bose 700 sound bar is completed by this. You must absolutely get the bass module with the sound bar. Movies on this sound like you are in a small theater. You will never even need to go to max volume for this one. The module really spices up hip hop, edm, and house music. The bass has a silky smooth pump to it that doesn't drown the music. I wish I had some cons to it but I don't. I recommend you spend some time EQing in the app to get your desired result. Once achieved you will fall deeply in love.

Adds low end but difficult setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product is meant to be paired with the corresponding soundbar. Setup is done through an app that has a lengthy setup process including setup of the soundbar. I spent a considerable amount of time during the initial setup trying to get the subwoofer to pair without success. I finally gave up and finished the rest of the soundbar setup process, planning to pair the subwoofer later. When I finally tried to pair it through the app settings after completing the soundbar setup, it was already paired. I don't know if the soundbar found the subwoofer on its own or what, but it was a lot of wasted time and needless struggle trying to use the preprogrammed setup process. Once paired, I haven't had any issues with it, it just sits unobtrusively against the wall, pumping out the low end. It does add a lot to the soundbar.

If love bass, this is a must have.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My review for bose sound bar bass module. The bass module is a must have for your bose sound bar. It has a nice deep bass and adds to the sound a perfect combo. And looks great as well. Definitely worth having. The only downside, which I talk about for my review with the bose 700 sound bar. But the sound bar it self lacks being able to adjust the bass manually without having to use the app. As well as if you want to turn the bass off you will have to use the app. Other then that, the bass is great.

Poor connection w/ soundbar
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the 700 soundbar and 700 bass module. I had a cheap LG one prior that last about five years before crapping out on me. I never had any issue with it prior. Hooking up this Bose system I had issues right away. The bass module made a distorted noise. I talked to Bose support and they recommended returning for an exchange. It was a bad experience at the store trying to exchange. The serial number on the bass module did not match the sn on the box. Some manager comes out and tells me there's no way they can return it and tries to send me on my way. End up calling Bose and they confirm it is normal for the SN's not to match. So I get another manager and have him talk to the Bose rep and then they do the exchange. I get the new one home and same freaking problem. It was recommended I try a different power strip, I did and nothing different same problem. Then I read on the Bose website community forum that others were having this problem too and Bose reps recommended connecting via 3.5 mm cable. What!? This is sold as a wireless pair, now you want me to wire them up? Well I gave it a shot and the cable seems to remedy the issue. The sound is very clean and crisp so I guess I have to decide whether to keep it and just deal with how much I paid for this wireless system and its not wireless or return and go for another brand. Saw the Sony HT-ST5000 got some rave reviews, so maybe I'll try that instead.

amazing sound, but major popping issues.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I want to tell everyone how great this sub is... HOWEVER, I cannot do that because of all of the issues I have had with it. Upon reading farther into the reviews, I see that the sub has popping issue that is caused by a wifi signal in your home. There is only one fix for this.. TURN OFF YOUR WIFI! Who in todays world that has wifi in their home wants to turn it off to enjoy quality sound from their sound system in the living room?! I have contacted Bose support and they said "Try a 3.5mm auxiliary cord." It does resolve the issue, however if I paid over $1500 for this sound system, sub and speaker together, and I expect it to work like it should. No matter the cost, I feel that I would get better luck out of Samsung sound system for more than a 1/4th of the cost. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS SPEAKER, UNLESS YOU DO NOT WANT TO USE WIFI IN YOUR HOME. Now if you can live with the sub being connected to the sound bar, it will provide you amazing sound, deep bass, and a seamless user experience. Highly recommend for any size area. Smart home integration provides a clean elegant experience that is even appealing to the eye!

Posted .Hello, I am so glad that you love your system and the awesome audio quality it provides. It is also great to hear you love the design too. I am sorry you have faced some issues with interference. We do not need to turn off the WiFi to prevent this. I would recommend moving the bass module to different parts of the room away from routers and WiFi extenders to prevent interference.
