    Massive Bass..!!!

For the first time in my audio listening years I can hear and at the same time feel my audio. This is absolutely the best quality reproduction of TV audio in a 5.1 configuration I've ever heard. I replaced an older Samsung that was causing intermittent problems with the New Bose Soundbar 700, the Bass Module 700 and the Surround Speakers. There is no comparison to other systems I've owned in the past with this Bose system! One word of caution, when ordering these base modules the 500 and 700 modules are the same price and they are identical in appearance, but they are NOT compatible with the sound bars from another Bose system. The sound bar 300 has to use the Bass Module 300 and the 700 system has to use the Base Module 700, as the platform that is used on the 500 & 700 series is not compatible and entirely different than the 300 system. Now I am not as techno savvy as some, and also i have a Total Tech Package with Best Buy, so I utilized the Geek Squad subcontractor TX1Communications for the installation, and I'm very glad I did! these guys had the system up and running in no time! One issue came up during the installation. When it came time to pair the remote to the TV and Uverse receiver, the remote would not recognize them. The technicians immediately put in a call to Bose only to learn of a 6 hours wait for assistance. I in turn while they were working to get assistance went to the Bose website, to the Sound bar 700 support/technical support/Remote/Remote set up is not working to find this: "Your Bose Soundbar system will have the ability to control all of your devices from one remote, the Bose Soundbar Universal Remote. This functionality is not active yet, but will be activated during a future Soundbar firmware and Bose Music app update. We anticipate this update being available early to mid-October. Product firmware updates happen automatically in the background, and they typically install overnight. Please note, the remote will still control the soundbar itself, so you can adjust volume, switch sources, and stream music via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi." So what the techs were trying to do is not optional at the moment and won't be until Bose pushes out the update to the remote in order that it might accommodate other IR components. So I will patiently wait. Also not the Bose remote communicate with the sound bar through Bluetooth, not IR line of sight. If you have component that utilizes IR to communicate the sound bar converts the Bluetooth signal from the remote to IR and broadcasts it to the TV, DVR, etc. All in all I couldn't be more pleased with the sound reproduction from this system, it is literally worth every penny spent! I would recommend this system to a friend. And my service throughout the Geek Squad I recommend just as highly..!!! Thanks Bose, Best Buy, Geek Squad and my installing technicians!!! Will report later on future performance.

    Floor Shaking Bass

This Bass Module is a great addition to the Soundbar. The bass from the soundbar is great but this module takes it to the next level. The bass from this subwoofer is floor shaking but its bass that isn’t too hard to hear its clear bass. It was really easy to connect the module to the soundbar through the app. Its walks you through just on how to do it. You can adjust the bass from the app and you can just listen though the soundbar if you want. I like that you can adjust the bass because some movies have the bass turned up when they make it so it’s great that you can do that it’s a great addition. The module is a good weight and the size of it is a good size. There is glass on the top of it and then there is black plastic around the rest of it. I would highly recommend getting this in addition to the soundbar.

I have been using this Bose® - Bass Module 700 Subwoofer - Black for almost 3 weeks now and I could say I have been very happy and satisfied.. At first, it was not easy to connect to internet and it took me over 2 hours to figure it out, but after it was connected and installed, it was all easy to connect to Phone app, TV and sound system. I am recommending this product together with Bose Soundbar 700. The look is very exceptional, the shiny finished on the top of this Bass Module giving more attraction to purchase this quality product. The size is perfect, not too big, not too small... The sound is super high quality.. I recommend this product!!

Bose is absolutely the best that money can buy. If you're not a Bose believer take this subwoofer for a test drive. Excellent design and awesome sound quality. You will hear crisper highs, lower lows and some mind blowing mid-ranges that you never knew your music contained. A true theater experience is now possible in your own home. There is no comparison to other systems I own and the Bose Bass Module 700 is simply awesome. I compared the sound against 3 other subwoofers which are comparable in cost. This Bose subwoofer wins every time. PROS * Quality build * Amazing Sound Reproduction * Alexa is definitely a bonus * Easy Set up CONS * You can only adjust the subwoofer settings through the use of the Bose Application. So if more bass or treble are needed, you have to utilize your phone to fine tune adjust. Bose is on my recommended list. Bose will unlock subtleties in your music that you never thought possible. Get ready to rock your world. Bose is AWESOME. Bose is a winner.

    Fix for the popping noise

    Posted .

Like many reviews and folks all over the web there has been frustration with popping noises and baffling because of wireless interference. I spent hours in research and on the phone with Bose to no avail. Bose only recommends moving the sub away from other wireless devices. It didn’t help. Finally my fix was to reduce interference on my wifi router by changing the frequency on the 5GHz band that my soundbar was connected to. By default this band was set to 80 MHz because this promises greater throughput. I switched it to 40 MHz following a writeup by Intel to reduce interference. Sure enough the popping is gone. Clean bass sounds and I’m finally in love with the sounds of movies. Hope this helps others.

The Boss Bass Module 700 I received was paired with my Bose Soundbar 700 for review. Unboxing: This is A LOT of packaging. Not only that but this box is heavy!!! With the amount of heft in the box I assumed it must be a high quality device (it is). The packaging had layers and layers, this is great for protection but you will have a lot of trash after. One thing I appreciated was the handles in certain layers of packaging making it very easy to remove from the box. Setup: Plug it in, use the Bose Music app to connect it to the soundbar, calibrate it with the strange headset (included with the soundbar) and you are good to go! Setup couldn’t be easier. The build qualify of this device is amazing. It is all high quality plastics and glass and feels built like a tank. Sound quality: I was not sure it was working initially and only saw a white light on the back I had to put my head close to it to see if it was working. What I figured out is that the soundbar puts out a decent amount of bass already so it seems to save the bass module for much lower frequencies. I put on some bass heavy music and action movies and this thing will shake the room! It is not at all distorted but is a very clean and loud bass. The high quality build seems to allow for amazing bass reproducing while not overwhelming the sound from the soundbar. Cons: I could find nothing I did not like about this bass module or the setup with the soundbar other than the silly calibration method. This this is near perfect! Summary: If you can purchase this with the Soundbar 700, expect to have an amazing sound setup in your room. It puts every soundbar/subwoofer combo I have ever used to shame instantly. Try to get a chance to listen to one of these in person and nothing else will compare.

      Hi Saul,

I understand that you've returned the Bass Module. The popping noise could be wireless interference from near by devices, and can be helped by cutting down on nearby sources of interference.
The burning smell can happen as part of normal off-gassing when speakers are used for the first time, and will fade over time.

the good: - nice design - The glossy black is understated yet sleek. Relatively small footprint. - volume - No issues cranking up the volume using the Bose Music app. - stable connection - No issues with cut outs in sound or instability of signal. the bad: - a bit boomy, and loose, certainly at this price point. Plenty of volume if you turn it up, but the bass is not well defined. Sounds a little loose to my ear…not horrible, but noticeable if you have listened to better quality subs. - no crossover control. It’s tough to tell what the loose bass might be a product of either incorrect crossover setting (poor handling of too many higher frequencies) or just lower quality components used in manufacturing. - no manual pairing or level control - It appears to require the Bose 700 soundbar. It would be nice if you could pair this sub with a different soundbar, and control it with something other than the Bose Music app. - price - For $700, you’re certainly not getting much bang for your buck. For $200 less you can get a substantially better SVS PB-1000. Granted, it won’t have “Bose” on it, and it won’t be wireless. But it is a world of difference in terms of sound quality. overall: This one was a difficult review for me. It’s not an overly bad sub, but it definitely has some drawbacks. Somewhat boomy bass aside, the lack of connection options outside of the Bose 700 soundbar is disappointing. The price tag alone warrants a better sounding and more thought out sub. Since this sub requires the the Soundbar 700, and you must purchase them separately, you're looking at $1500 for the system. Pretty high price tag for just "ok" sound in my opinion. 3 stars

Recently acquired the Bose 700 Soundbar & the Bose 700 Bass Module. The products were very well packed & after viewing the booklets that came with them I was expecting a simple hook up to my TV. Well that wasn't the case. The booklet instructs you to connect the power cord then get the Bose App from either the Apple or Google store. Quite frankly the App is useless. It completely fails to instruct you what the features of the remote control are and fails to provide any help should the system not operate correctly. In our case blue tooth worked great, but with the TV we had a problem. We were getting sound from both the soundbar & the TV at the same time. Thru dumb luck we found a YouTube video that walked us right thru resolving the problem. It was a simple matter of going into the TV's programing & turning off the TV's speaker. We're still searching for an instructional video of how to program the remote control. Currently we have to use our cable remote to turn on TV & cable box & switch channels & we have to turn the Bose sound bar on with the Bose remote. Oddly enough our cable remote will turn the sound bar off & control the volume. As for performance & sound quality I can only say WOW, what an improvement. You almost think you are listening to surround sound, it's that good. I believe if Bose would simplify the installation instructions perhaps by making their own video, a person could install the system in less than 10 minutes. And if we can ever get everything to work on one remote control I'd be doing back flips with excitement. As it is now I just jump with joy.

    Amazing Lower End Extension!

The Bose Bass Module 700 is a great option for those wanting to add more “boom” to their Soundbar 700 or Soundbar 500 system. The unit itself is relatively small, but the output is very noticeable. For those who love action films or want a deeper bottom end for their music listening pleasure, this is highly recommended. Packaging: Sturdy, but a little overkill. The power cord is almost hidden in a much-wasted side compartment area. I found it, so all was good. No damage, for sure! Set-up: Soooo easy. It connects wirelessly to your Bose Soundbar and is ready to go within minutes. It’s suggested to perform the calibration with the headset after adding the Bass Module. I found that to be accurate, since the sound from the system seemed to be more fine-tuned after calibration. Sound and appearance: Deep, rich sound. It’s a 10” woofer, so plenty of deep end. For the price, don’t expect the lowest octave… I’ve owned those subwoofers in the past and they are in their own category. They also come with a very hefty price tag. The Bose Bass Module 700 is a perfect addition to their compatible soundbars at a price that’s within reason. Conclusion: Well worth a listen and a try. Go find your nearest retailer and give it an audition. You won’t be disappointed!

This subwoofer is heavy and powerful. It is relatively small but designed with one of the cleanest sounding basses in the industry. It can be paired wirelessly to the 700 soundbar via the app. Set up is a breeze and pairs amazingly with the 700 soundbar. You can't go wrong with this one.

Finally, A Real Subwoofer From Bose

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is not your typical Bose "Acoustimass Module" or Subwoofer that we've become used to, usually using a pair of 5 1/4" drivers in a ported enclosure using multiple port tunings. This thing actually uses a proper 10" transducer and a 400 watt on board amplifier and produces adequate bass. The fact that you can actually use a pair of these things as well should further improve things. This is what they should have been using all along. I've owned this sub for almost 3 years now with the 700 sound bar and matching surrounds. Has worked wonderfully for me so far the last 3 years.

    Superior Bass Module

This is a wonderful bass module. The bass is punchy and impactful. The bass is not at all distorted and does not sound too boomy. The bass is very smooth and has a decent amount of pump to it. The Bose 700 sound bar is completed by this. You must absolutely get the bass module with the sound bar. Movies on this sound like you are in a small theater. You will never even need to go to max volume for this one. The module really spices up hip hop, edm, and house music. The bass has a silky smooth pump to it that doesn't drown the music. I wish I had some cons to it but I don't. I recommend you spend some time EQing in the app to get your desired result. Once achieved you will fall deeply in love.

This product is meant to be paired with the corresponding soundbar. Setup is done through an app that has a lengthy setup process including setup of the soundbar. I spent a considerable amount of time during the initial setup trying to get the subwoofer to pair without success. I finally gave up and finished the rest of the soundbar setup process, planning to pair the subwoofer later. When I finally tried to pair it through the app settings after completing the soundbar setup, it was already paired. I don't know if the soundbar found the subwoofer on its own or what, but it was a lot of wasted time and needless struggle trying to use the preprogrammed setup process. Once paired, I haven't had any issues with it, it just sits unobtrusively against the wall, pumping out the low end. It does add a lot to the soundbar.
