Beautiful, functional, but need to get used to it

My first impression for these headphones were that they were quality. I had bought the QC35iis around the same time, but then the 700s went on sale for the same price so I decided to get them as well to compare. Immediately, I could tell the immense difference in build quality, look, and just overall user experience, with the 700s blowing the QC35iis out of the water. Even just the box and the initial set up sounds from turning on the headphones screamed luxury compared to the flimsy box the QCs came in. So if you're buying these headphones because you want to look and feel rich, these are the ones to get. But of course, most people are looking for function over form, so here is my personal comparison between the QC35iis and NC700s after intense daily testing for about a week. COMFORT: I'd have to say that the NC700s were pretty uncomfortable initially, while the QC35iis felt like little clouds on my ears. But after stretching out the NC700s (on the box or something bigger than your head), they became immensely comfortable and you end up forgetting they're on your head. The difference in comfort is only noticeable when comparing them side-by-side. If your only concern is comfort in headphones, I'd say go with the QC35iis, but the difference is really marginal. Winner: QC35iis SOUND: I am not an audiophile so I won't be able to speak in technical terms, but for the average headphone user, both the NC700s and QC35iis perform great. I couldn't really tell much of a difference between the two, but I read somewhere some "highs" came out a bit sharp on the NC700s and I think I noticed it a couple times but overall, not really. Winner: Tie NOISE CANCELLING: Both headphones' noise cancelling features work fantastically! I use it to block out noisy roommates, neighbors, or really loud background noise from industrial fans, air conditioning, streets, and it works wonders. For days I like to sleep in, these headphones really help me knock out. Haven't gotten a chance to try it out on an airplane yet, but I'm excited to be able to hear my music/podcasts over the loud droning. The noise cancelling features were really the selling point of the NC700s for me over the QC35iis. With the 700s you have the ability to adjust the noise cancelling to specific levels, and most impressively, there's a transparency mode which uses the headphone's mics to actively transmit outside noise so it sounds like you're not wearing headphones at all. One qualm I had with the QC35iis was that I didn't like having to take off the headphones to hear people and it was kinda weird to not be able to hear my own voice when talking, so transparency mode was a game-changer. It's also a nice feature when walking outside or when you're in a situation where you need to be more alert of your surroundings. Winner: NC700s CONNECTIVITY: I believe NC700s are using the newer Bluetooth 5.0, so I did notice the NC700s kept connection for further distances than the QC35iis, but there was not a huge difference (maybe like an extra foot or two). The QC35iis honestly had a lot of connectivity issues with my MacBook Pro, with it not being able to switch between FaceTime and other applications without me having to manually disconnect and reconnect it. The switching between my phone and laptop was not very seamless, and overall the process was very buggy, which was annoying considering these headphones cost $300. The NC700s on the other hand had a much more seamless experience. I never had an issue after hanging up FaceTime calls or with switching between applications. The switch between devices was a lot easier too. Of course, there are some drops from time to time still, but usually fixable. One thing to keep in mind is that you need internet to connect headphones to devices via the Bose Music app, so if you need to reset your headphones when you don't have connection (like on an airplane), you may be out of luck. It seems to be a rare occurrence and I haven't run into it yet. Unfortunately, Bose wireless headphones connectivity just isn't quite there yet, especially with the Apple ecosystem. Winner: NC700s CONTROLS: The touch controls on the NC700s work very well, but they take some getting used to. After you get acquainted with them, I personally would say I prefer them over the physical buttons on the QC35iis. It's quick and easy to tap or swipe and it definitely feels more modern. The tactile buttons on the NC700s feel nice and are very responsive, but as many other reviewers have mentioned, they are placed poorly, making it extremely easy to accidentally press them. After a couple days you get used to it though and learn to place your hands, so I haven't accidentally pressed the buttons in a while. Winner: Tie (depends on preference) PORTABILITY: QC35iis fold up, and the NC700s don't. That makes it a bit annoying, as the NC700s end up taking a larger footprint, and I don't feel that comfortable throwing them into my backpack without placing them in the case. Overall, I haven't found it to be that much of an issue though. Winner: QC35iis CALL QUALITY: This is honestly where the NC700s outshine every other headphone I've tried. As someone who takes a lot of calls, the experience with the NC700s makes the extra cost completely worth it. When using the microphone with the QC35iis there is a constant static noise that no longer exists with the NC700s! In addition, using transparency mode while on a phone call makes the entire experience a lot more comfortable as you can hear your own voice and it gets rid of any annoying sidetone. In a noisy room, the NC700s pick up my voice perfectly, and the people on the other side say they can barely ever hear any background noise. When I'm not talking, they said my microphone is dead silent. In comparison, when my roommates were in the room while I was on a call with the QC35iis, the person on the other end claimed they could hear them louder than me. Winner: NC700s (by a landslide) Overall: QC35iis beat out NC700s in terms of comfort (marginally, both are very comfy) and portability. The NC700s come with a handful of new handy features, insanely good call quality, and an overall more premium feel and seamless experience. In my opinion, The QC35iis are probably a better value if you don't need to take phone calls, but the NC700s are definitely an upgrade, and if they're on sale they are 100% worth it.

I absolutely love my headphones! They cancel noise perfectly and you can adjust the amount of outside noise you allow in. Long battery life too. Very comfortable as well. I can wear them for hours before ear fatigue sets in. No false sense of base either. Very clean and pure sound.

Got them right before my long haul trip across to the other end of the world, was the best decision I have ever made. Helped me relax cutting out plane’s noise completely. Battery life is amazing... easily 16-18 hours per charge. What surprised me the most was its ability to cut out noise while I am taking my calls. No one complained of noise or my audibility even when I was in crowded places like airport etc. Its a must buy if you are looking for good call and music noise cancelling abilities. Not to forget they are very comfortable to wear for hours at a stretch.

Just jumped ship from Airpods Pros. These are way more comfortable, way better quality, WAY BETTER BATTERY LIFE. I enjoy using them for downtime. I personally wouldn't use them to workout, and I have a smaller head (haha) so they slip a bit, but it doesn't bother me much.

I purchased these headphones in order to be ready for a long flight. The 700s worked like a charm. The noise cancellation performed really well in reducing the noise during my 4 hour flight. It was light weight and very comfortable. The long battery life took away the stress of running out of power. Of course the most important feature of the headphones is that they sounded fantastic! I went through my eclectic playlists and found the sound reproduction to be great on all types of audio profiles (rock, R&B, dance and EDM).

I've always been a fan of Bose headphones, and my old wireless ones were starting to wear down after years of heavy use, so I decided to upgrade. The price is a bit steep but these headphones are premium. I purchased them before traveling, and was hoping for comfort and good noise cancelling, and I got my wish. As soon as I was able to get a good fit, it was easy to forget I was even wearing them. The circumaural ear cups fit nicely and the cushioning is very soft. I didn't feel any of the pressure around my ears that I've felt on other models. Battery life is stellar. I rarely have to charge these headphones and can go about my day without worrying about a dead battery. The noise cancelling is quite good, but not jaw-dropping. I don't mind having a bit of background noise, so it's not a huge issue for me, but someone who enjoys absolute silence may want to test them before they buy. The software for the Bose headphones is pretty great. The headphones can connect to multiple devices at the same time, so I can play a game on my tablet and listen to music on my phone if I so desire. Sound options are easy to adjust in-app as well. Overall I am happy with these headphones and don't have any major gripes.

An upgrade from Bose QC35 with touch control and a sleaker look. Battery life is a good 20hrs which is plenty for me. The best feature is how clear when using voice call. Great for people who spend a lot of time on the phone. Noise Cancelation is also good plus you can control how much outside noise you want to hear. It’s very comfortable on the head but do get a little warm in hot weather. The app is a little unreliable and need to be fix since I’ve had a hard time connecting to the unit. .Overall a great headphones.

Extremely good, very quiet and comfortable. And yet a little over-priced too. My only negative is the purchase price which, as all Bose products, is always a little steep. Full of options you must be careful where you touch for one side is almost a touch screen. The most I've worn them on a flight is about 2 hours so my review limited. They are so much more comfortable and sound so much better than my 10 year old knockoffs.

Very Comfortable, great sound and noise cancelling. Excellent build quality and great fit, though if you have an unusually small head they may shift around when leaning forward or back or with rapid head movements. The Bose music app apparently needs to be updated for Android 13, and I have not been able to add these phones to the Bose Music app on my Pixel 6 running Android 13. Despite this the headset can be easily paired through Android's Settings app. I really like that 8 devices can be paired to these headphones, and they will use the first 2 active devices the headset finds after powering them on. Noise cacellation level can be adjusted, and temporarily pausing the noise cancelling and currently playing audio with the press of the left-side button is quite convenient. The touch controls work well and call quality is excellent on both sides of a call, as ambient noise is reduced rather well by the headset.

The world could be burning and I wouldn't hear it. The battery is decent (8hrs with full charge), connects rapidly, and has great comfort. It's easy to toggle between noise cancellation levels - I've used it extensively when traveling on planes, trains, and car rides. I tend to sleep on planes, these headphones place me in a different world where I don't have to ever hear crying babies - and for that I am grateful.

Audio quality is very good. Love the noise canceling. Fits snugly on my head and adjusts easily. I wish there was a little more room for my very average (i.e., normal sized) ears, however. My ears get a little itchy from time to time. Took me a couple weeks to really become acclimated to the touch control surface, which is located on the right earphone. I really like being able to swipe (up or down) to adjust the volume. Likewise, I really like being able to swipe (forward or backward) to skip ahead to the next track or backward to the previous track! This is a nice improvement over the previous “button-pushing” version. That said, it’s still a bit too sensitive at times; especially when I’m adjusting the headphones on my head or if I need to briefly need to remove the phones from my head & then put them back on, without powering them off. Even now, after several weeks, I still get slightly irritated when I accidentally tap (or double tap) the control surface, which then either prompts an unnecessary battery level status or an unwanted pause in playback. I’ve learned that there are some customizable changes to some of these touch control settings. But, I’m still figuring some of this out. Bit, OK, maybe I’m a bit slow on the learning curve. Maybe. I suspect that I am a pretty picky consumer/owner of this type product. But, these headphones are NOT inexpensive! So, yes, I definitely expect excellence! I rated this product 4 STARS out of 5. If I had the option, I would e given it something like 3.75 STARS out of 5. So, I rounded up to “4” to be fair. But, as a professional musician, I’m pretty particular about this stuff. Overall, I do like my new Bose NC 700 HPs. And, I’d recommend them to a friend. But, I’m still gonna keep searching for something closer to perfection! So, I hope this one man’s discerning opinion serves as encouragement to Bose (and to other manufacturers, as well) to keep improving such offerings as these headphones. Because, I use them EVERY DAY, SEVERAL HOURS EACH DAY & NIGHT!

I work in an office and take public transit nearly daily so when i say i need something to tune out the world i really do mean it. These headphones are insanely comfortably and effective at soing that! They look fantastic and they dont hurt my head after 6 straight hours of wear. Yes 6. I cannot stand my officemates most days and all i want to do is watch netflix in peace while i do my mindless work. This makes that possible! I didnt want to believe my partner (howdy) about how good the headphones were, tbh was gonna go for a different brand (sony ones caught my eye sorry got those too to “product test”) but ultimately in the RIGEROUS testing (literally just wearing them) the Bose 700’s blew all competition out of the water and hknestly stops me from hearing stupid shish my coworkers say which ultimately stops me from making a snarky comment. Its a win win for all. Get the headphones

Great sound, great fit, excellent noise cancellation. My biggest gripe is the batteries don't last as long as they are rated. I have a pair of Sony WH-CH710N headphones I use for work, the Bose were about twice as much, but the sound quality, noise cancellation, and fit are well worth it. I also like that I can control which device the Bose headphones are connected to using the app on my phone. Finally, I like that the Bose will connect to two devices at once, so I can be watching YouTube or listening to music and if my phone rings, the headphones switch automatically so I'm not fumbling around to take them off. Of course, I can't tell how well the microphones work, I'm always on the sending end, but I haven't had any complaints that I sound funny when using them through my phone. I'll give that a pass Why I chose these over the Sony XM3 or XM4s. Like I said, I have a pair of Sony CH710s that I use for work. They sound good, but not great and I have heard the XM4s sound much better than the 710s. My problem is, within weeks of owning the CH710s, one of the plastic bands that holds the plastic part of the headband in place broke. I was using them and a piece of plastic landed on my desk. I looked around to see where it came from and I was shocked that it broke off my (new at the time) headphones. I expect better build quality from Sony so I was disappointed and didn't trust them when it came time to buy a good pair for home. I was intrigued by the Apple AirPods Max, but, can't find them anywhere, and the price is almost double what I paid for the Bose.
