The touch sensors over the ears add some very convenient controls. The headphones aren't as heavy as you would expect so the ability to wear them around the house is great.

I tried ear buds and on-ear headphones and didn't like them. I read in Wirecutter that these were their favorites so I gave them a try. Wow, they are really good! The noise cancellation feature is amazing - it's like you're in one of those rooms where they do hearing tests - no outside noise at all, total silence. The music quality is very good. I don't like overamped bass or trebble - pretty flat response is what I prefer. The Bose app that works with them allows you to tailor the response if you want to. And you can change the amount of noise cancellation. They really are very good - highly recommended.
