This Bose Lifestyle subwoofer is insane. It will shake the entire room if you let it. This thing adds that needed depth to your music and produces that low end bass for movies/TV shows when having it paired to your Bose soundbar. It made a huge difference to audio quality once I connected it. The soundbar itself can produce some bass but nothing to the extent of this sub. If you find it over powering or want to add more bass you can adjust its output in the Bose app. It seamlessly paired to my Bose Lifestyle sound bar and can be moved wherever I like due to being wireless. Note that it does work with the older Bose soundbars as well but you have to wire it. Peak build quality here. Its heavy, solid, and looks great. In fact it looks so good I feel bad about sticking it in the back of my room. Absolutely love the stylish look of the glass top. If you have or plan on getting the Bose Lifestyle soundbar make sure to pick this up. Especially if you have a mid sized to larger room. You will not regret it!

Adding the thump to your Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar

I've had multiple soundbars in the past and actually ended up switching to a receiver home theater setup a year or so ago so I could have a little more control over the sound delivery. I've got several Bose products (headphones and Bluetooth speakers) so I was anxious to get my hands on the new Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar from Bose. For review purposes I'm going to cover the 4 components as a system since the subwoofer and speakers are reliant on the soundbar for connectivity giving you a good 5.1 system. I received the following - - Bose Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar - Bose Lifestyle Ultra Speakers (2) - Bose Lifestyle Ultra Subwoofer Out of the box it was really easy to use but I do have a complaint. Bose is pushing everything to phone apps and my wife doesn't really feel comfortable using apps. For the most part the setup went well, using the phone app on my phone I was able to get 2 of the 3 sound zones dialed in for listening levels about the room but for some reason the last one I could never get locked in. That really doesn't impact the performance of the soundbar, only the fine tuning for that zone. I also received the optional subwoofer and 2 surround speakers (all wireless except you do need a wall outlet for power). Linking everything in the app was painless, it recognized each speaker and the sub. You don't even need to worry which surround speaker is left or right because that swap is easily done via the app. Connecting is easy with a HDMI cable to the HDMI-ARC in/out on the TV to the HDMI-ARC in/out on the soundbar. You can also link via Bluetooth from a smart phone and it supports Airplay from Apple devices. I only wish it had an optical connection option. The app allows control of overall volume and an equalizer. We have DirecTV and using their remote I was able to add the soundbar to the remote via the DirecTV on TV settings. I have had issues with the soundbar not responding to the remote and sometimes even powering everything off and back on won't fix the issue so it's to the app to see if I can get the soundbar to respond to it. Unfortunately, my biggest gripe is that no remote is provided by Bose so if the TV provider remote isn't doesn't control and I'm not home at the time my wife will just have to do without and use the anemic TV speakers. I've scoured the internet to see if there is a better universal remote that I can use but haven't found one yet. Now on to the sound... paired with the Lifestyle speakers and subwoofer you get a really wonderful sound stage. I've had to knock down the subwoofer a bit due to it being a bit much for some shows, mainly action movies, rattle the windows but in a good way for my taste but not so much my wife's. The Lifestyle Ultra Speakers as surrounds provide very good response with very rich sound providing that really good engulfing sound.

A must have addition to the Lifestyle system

I just posted my review for the entire Bose Lifestyle Ultra system including the soundbar, subwoofer and rear speakers so this review will be for the subwoofer itself. First off, this subwoofer is a beast. Bose has apparently made some improvements over the current Bose 700 sub as the new sub is about 4lbs heavier than the 700 weighing in at just under 34lbs and may use a slightly larger woofer. Bose claims they improved the radios in the sub for better connectivity. The sub looks the same, which is fine as it is a great looking sub. I received the black version, and the sub has a black cabinet with a glass top and is very aesthetically pleasing. At a little under 12 inches square and 13 inches high it makes placement easy. The sub can be added to the Bose app and then paired with the Lifestyle Ultra soundbar wirelessly or there is a 3.5mm input so it can be wired to the soundbar. I have had no issues with wireless connectivity. Bose uses what they call Quiet Port technology to reduce port chuffing and distortion, and I have not been able to get the sub to misbehave at all. The sub is very impressive. This thing goes low and I mean low. It blends seamlessly with the soundbar and adds a whole other dimension to the overall experience. During the process of setting up the soundbar and subwoofer there was an issue with the CustomTune function in the app and it was not working so I made separate adjustments in the app to increase the volume of the sub. After several conversations with Bose, I received a firmware update that fixed CustomTune. One thing I forgot to include in my soundbar review is the fact that there is no option to turn off automatic updates which I think is a misstep on Bose’s part. There have been too many issues lately with updates causing issues with TV’s and soundbars. I prefer to wait until I am sure something is not going to cause problems updating firmware. Since you can’t turn off Wi-Fi without shutting down the system an option to turn off updates would be beneficial. Before running CustomTune I reset all previous settings to zero and ran calibration. After running calibration there was no need to make any other changes although you can. Although the soundbar performs very well on its own I feel strongly that this subwoofer is a must have if you want to get the most out of the system. I can definitely see why it is priced at $899. It performs at this level.

You Don’t Just Hear It, You Feel It

I added the Bose Lifestyle Ultra Subwoofer to the Bose Ultra Soundbar setup and it completely changed the experience in the best way possible. The first thing I noticed was how powerful the bass was without sounding messy or overwhelming. The room literally rumbled during certain scenes, but it still sounded controlled and clean instead of just shaking everything for no reason. Watching Interstellar with this setup was incredible. You don’t just hear the soundtrack and effects, you actually feel them. The subwoofer blends really well with the soundbar. Everything feels balanced and synchronized instead of sounding like separate speakers trying to compete with each other. When testing the subwoofer through the Bose app, the response is instant and the bass kicks in immediately. One of my favorite things about it is the wireless setup. Other than the power cable, there are no extra wires running across the room. The subwoofer connected wirelessly to the system and communicated well with the rest of the setup once everything was configured properly. Wireless home theater setups are just so much cleaner and easier to work with. The design also feels very premium in person. It has the same glossy black finish as the soundbar which gives it a sleek modern look. It is definitely a heavy subwoofer, but that’s expected with quality bass modules like this. What really impressed me most is how much this changed the overall home theater experience. When the bass hits, it completely transforms movies, music, and games. Action scenes feel more immersive, music feels fuller, and everything just has more impact overall. I honestly don’t have many negatives so far. Once connected, it has been stable and reliable. If you already own the Bose Ultra Soundbar, I would absolutely recommend adding this subwoofer to complete the setup.

The Bose Lifestyle Ultra Subwoofer made a massive difference in my overall home theater setup. I already loved the soundbar by itself, but once I connected the subwoofer, everything immediately sounded fuller, deeper, and much more immersive. The bass is powerful without sounding muddy or overpowering. It adds a clean, rich depth to movies, gaming, and music that you can really feel throughout the room. Action scenes have a lot more impact now, and music sounds far more balanced and cinematic. I also appreciate that Bose focused on both performance and design. The subwoofer has a sleek, modern look that blends in nicely instead of looking bulky or cheap. It feels very premium and well built. Setup itself was fairly easy overall, although I did experience some connectivity issues initially with the Bose app while pairing everything together. The app struggled to recognize all components at first and required a couple reconnects and updates before everything synced correctly. That part was a little frustrating considering the premium price point, but once the setup was completed, the system has been performing extremely well. One thing I really like is that the bass stays controlled and clean even at higher volumes. It never feels distorted or overwhelming. Instead, it complements the soundbar perfectly and creates a much more theater like experience at home. Watching movies honestly feels more immersive now, especially during action scenes, sports, and concerts. Overall, I’ve been very impressed with the Bose Lifestyle Ultra Subwoofer. Despite the small setup frustrations in the beginning, the sound quality and performance absolutely make up for it. If you want deeper, more premium sounding bass that enhances your entire entertainment setup, this is definitely worth considering.

Bose did it this time. I have owned an old Bose Acoustimass system and I was impressed how they got bass from that unit but this thing rocks. Unpacking was easy, although it weighs about 34lbs I was extremely impressed. I have a system in my living room with a receiver, center, surround, front speakers and a 100 lb subwoofer. I can honestly say that paired with the matching soundbar and surround speakers this sub rocks. When unpacking, I first noticed the piano black gloss black finish that makes it appear to be a very high end quality speaker and solid build. The weight matches the look so you can tell it’s made well. I first paired my soundbar and then the sub and it connected almost immediately. I did have to wait a few minutes for a software update but that didn’t take long. First impressions are fantastic! I’m used to a super low frequency enormous subwoofer in my living room and the Bose subwoofer is so clean and low and not to mention, very compact and classy that fits right into my loft. I have it placed in my corner and it still shakes my home with lows. Overall, I’m very impressed with this sub. For the money, it adds to the soundbar so much. Although the soundbar already has great lows and immersion, this just adds. I have high ceilings and because of that I feel allot of sound is wasted so this subwoofer fills that gap. I highly recommend this to add to the soundbar. For the money, you won’t find a better sounding subwoofer, so clean and crisp you can’t compare it to anything on the Bluetooth market. A must have!

Just for clarity these Ultra speakers were combined with the Lifestyle Ultra speakers and soundbar. But this review will mostly just cover the Bose Life Ultra Subwoofer. First thing I noticed with this subwoofer was the weight, its a tank at 33lbs. That doesnt always indicate quality, but when you have a super light sub dont expect much. So I was already pretty sure it was going to thump, and I was right. There is no remote so all the setup and settings are controlled within the Bose app. And I am happy to say Bose knows hot to create a very user friendly app. All set up in minutes. The subwoofer itself looks cool and matches the other components in the Lifestyle system. I love the matte black finish. Before I tried the whole combo system I ran just the sub for awhile and it sounds amazing. I do not like overly boomy base that carries longer then it should. I live solid, tight, accurate bass, and Bose nailed that sound here. Movie explosions, bassy music, and gunshots in video games sound so good. And once its combined with the full Lifestyle system I dont think Ive ever hear better surround and overall sound quality. Locating people in games, etc, is so easy here. Overall I could not love this system more. Its the best Ive heard, and probably will be for years to come. Bose easily earns their reputation for top notch sound and I highly recommend this sub, but also the whole system.

I have to say, I am really loving the Bose Lifestyle Ultra products, specifically the Ultra Subwoofer. I have used this setup to replace my apple homepods which was my Atmos sound. The Ultra Subwoofer brings a whole other level of sound amplitude to my movie watching experience. Linking it together with the Soundbar and the speaker....OMG these things create a whole new dynamic for me. This subwoofer might be the most aesthetically pleasing subwoofer I have seen (majority of them are ugly) this one is rather nice. Not only is the outside beautiful but the inside of it is incredible as it offers unbelievable clarity that completely rocks my living space when watching movies. When watching war movies or anything that needs a good sub, the room rumbles and shakes and it fully immerses you. If you are an audiophile you need to look into the entire set of the Bose Lifestyle Ultra products because they are Ultra and despite the cost (which is reasonable) you are receiving a truly ultra experience.
