    This expensive speaker (about $400) worked for less than a year. Bose sucked with their customer service.

    I gave thi speaker three stars because I can’t use for a speaker phone and the battery runs low very fast

      Hello,
      Using Alexa only, you can directly call Bose smart products, Amazon Echo products, and anyone in your contacts list. You do not need your phone to make or take a call. As for Battery life, this depends on what type of music you’re playing and at what volume, the battery of the Portable Smart Speaker will last up to 12 hours while playing at a loud volume.

    This isn’t an inexpensive speaker, but sound quality not low price is what Bose is all about. They’ve been making quality headphones and speakers for years, and more recently, smart home speakers. Now comes the combination of portable and smart, and true to Bose, they did it well. The build quality is first class including the 3A power supply/charger and 5 foot USB C to USB C cable. The size and weight along with a battery rated at 12 hours of playtime make it truly portable. That’s the same battery life as their Revolve speaker. However, the sound quality is comparable to the Bose 300 series home speakers, and that’s a big step up. As with the Revolve, the sound is truly 360. You don’t have to search for a sweet spot for you or the speaker. The sound is clean and strong in all directions. It’s rated IPX4, so it can withstand some splashing water but not falling into the pool. The setup using the Bose Music app was quick and easy as it leads you through the entire process. You’ll need to sign on or create a Bose account while in the app. You’ll log onto your home WIFI, and then you can sign onto your streaming accounts … Amazon, Pandora, Spotify (premium only), and an array of TuneIn options. All of these are then accessible from that one app. As a smart speaker, it can be set to be either an Alexa or Google Assistant device. It’s also easy to connect your phone via Bluetooth which you’ll use when away from your WIFI. I had a problem finding a particular setting in the app, but Bose phone support was fast and efficient … the best I’ve experienced in some while. The sound quality is what you’d expect from Bose. Strong bass, clean and clear mids and highs, and all the volume you’ll want. Since it’s comparable to the Home 300 speaker in quality, it can function as part of an existing Bose system if you wish. You can’t miss with this speaker. It’s a real Bose and provides an amazing amount of music from a small device.

    Sounds great when it works, and I like that I could connect it to Google Home. However, it would stop charging and not power up. Every now and then it will take a charge and work for a while, but eventually stop working again. This is a very expensive product for it to work this poorly. And now I'm just outside the return window at Best Buy (15 days, really?).

    The speaker looks nice and how the description is worded make it sound like high quality, but when I played it at home the sound is almost equivalent to the Bose Flex spun link. It just have google assistance tied into it. I was expecting more sound than what I received. Especially for the price it cost. I am thinking of returning it and getting my money back.

    Does NOT work with Apple Music via Alexa

    Does not work with Alexa and Apple Music. Even though all my other Alexa devices work with Apple Music. If they fix this problem it would get 5 stars. Customer support says there is not problem because you can use Bluetooth or airplay - which do work. I bought it so I could say Alexa play xyz and have it play not to carry my phone around all the time. Seems like they are intentionally making it sound like it works with Alexa but don’t make it clear that does NOT mean Apple Music!

      I'm sorry to hear your Portable Smart Speaker isn't producing the volume and battery life you'd expected, Tanya! The battery should give you up to 12 hours of active use, or up to 24 hours in standby mode. Using the speaker at loud volumes can reduce these times, so test the speaker at e.g. normal room volume, and see if there's a difference. As for the speaker's volume, make sure your connected device is turned up sufficiently as well, if it has its own separate volume control when connected to your speaker.     Garbage. I bought a Bose speaker in 2015. It is the best speaker I’ve purchased. I gave it to my work so they could enjoy music that sounds awesome. I bought this speaker for an upgrade and it was terrible. Great sound, music skips, not worth the money. It’s simply garbage. Sorry Bose, I normally love your products.

    I REMEMBER WHEN BOSE WAS THE BEST. THIS SPEAKER ISN'T IDEAL WHEN IT COMES TO BASE. OK FOR KITCHEN OR BATHROOM USE. PRICE TOO STEEP FOR WHAT IT OFFERS.

    I loved it at first but with time the battery doesn’t last long. I can’t play it anymore without it being plugged in at all times.
