    Audio latency

I was so excited to finally get this speaker since I own or owned products from Bose and their products are always top premium. My main use for the speaker was to connect my laptop for TV streaming (polish TV, Netflix, You Tube etc) and have a great speaker experience. First of all the set up is super fast, easy and Bose application works great. Playing music from phone, Amazon music, Sirius was great as far as the sound and 360 experience. Using Alexa was also very well integrated and easy to use. The problem started with streaming videos and watching any video content from the computer. Everything works great until you go forward or back with video content or when your movie is buffering even for a second, this is when the audio lag starts. The sound from the speaker is about 0.2-0.5 second faster than the content you are watching so pretty much the voice does not follow the lips of person you are watching in your video. I have tried everything: you cannot update the driver on Bose because the newest is installed after set up, I rolled back my drivers, reinstalled audio Realtek on my laptop, tried different drivers for audio card (Microsoft, Toshiba, generic, you name it), run diagnostic for sound bluetooth, actual speaker to no avail. I connected this to my other laptop , same thing and I understand that You Tube for example is not proffesional video site but Netflix definitely is and has the same problem. The only way to make it work is to disconnect the Bose speaker and connect again but obviously that works if you do not do anything with you video, that means skipping ads, moving forward, stopping because it causes latency again. Obviously who wants to connect speaker back and forth after paying almost $400 and have that issue? I guess no one. My UE speaker work fine every time, even some cheap speaker that I use for biking has no problem working with computer but BOSE does. This is not what I have expected, and there is a lot of forums going on on the web with people having the same issues. I went back to Best Buy and returned it with a big regret because as for the sound it is a well made speaker. Sound specialist told me at Best Buy that this speaker is mostly designed to stream music and tend to have latency with streaming video content. I ended up with UE Megablast, works perfectly, timing is superb.

See if you can use their app before buying

I've had a few Bose products over the years and I generally enjoy them. I had hope going into their smart device line up would bring me the same joy, but it did not. They have decided to go the way of many smart speaker manufacturers and require that you run their proprietary phone app to even setup the device. This would not be so bad if they had a good team designing their app, but from what I can tell, this is not the case. I have an older phone, but am still running Android 7.1.2, which by their engineer's response over the phone, should still run the app. However, I have gone through forums, tech support calls, and other attempts to get the app to allow me to create a log-in or be able just log-in. I'm greeted by a spinning circle for hours on end. Because of this, the speaker only functions with basic Bluetooth functions and not worth the sticker price. It should be noted that after my initial phone calls with tech support, I waited 2 weeks for them to provide additional help and was met with silence. The speaker itself is solidly built and aesthetically pleasing. Vocals are decent out of the box, but bass is strongly lacking, something that I've noticed out of many Bose products over the years. The app does allow you to play around with the EQ from what I'm told, but I was not able to get to that feature. Besides an app that only works on phones, I found it disappointing in the lack of ports on this speaker. You have on USB-C connector for charging the device and wireless charger circles on the underside. They really do want you to focus on streaming services, so no plugging in a USB stick or memory card and no charging your phone from the speakers battery. I also found that the speaker will randomly turn on if left with the power supply plugged in. That's a bit startling at 2am in the morning. Overall I would have really loved to like this device, but if your device requires you to have other items to run basic features, you need to mark that plainly on the box and advertising literature. I can't forgive companies that take the cheap way out on higher end products by not having a simple Windows program to work with.

    the worst of them

I picked up this speaker for my desk but am very disappointed and will need to return it. There's a terrible lag time between my screen and the sound so forget using it to watch anything like youtube or Netflix! unlike all the other models that bose makes in this line, this one does not have an auxiliary option so there is no workaround or way to play plugged in. This is also an issue if you want to use it and don't want the Bluetooth draining your phone battery or just don't want the compression that comes with BlueTooth. This is the most expensive speaker in the line-up but by not allowing people to plug it in, it's the worst of all of them. If you like the Bose sound then I'd suggest the slightly cheaper versions of this because they have a plugin Aux option.

Hey there, it's a shame to hear that you're disappointed with your speaker.

Do you also experience this lag when connected to other devices? Clear the pairing list by holding the Bluetooth button for ten seconds until the light ring is filled with white light. Once the pairing list is cleared, the top and bottom of the light ring glows blue indicating it is ready to be paired with another Bluetooth device. Make sure you also delete the speaker from the Bluetooth list of your connected devices. Refreshing the connection may stabilize the lag that you are experiencing.

I'm sorry that you're missing the use of an AUX. You can also use AirPlay 2, or Bose Music to stream to your speaker.

    Bose's update he!!

I cannot recommend Bose products due to the updates. They are just awful. I bought this speaker today and the update is stuck. Four hours and it's still not finished. I've done all the tricks. Nothing workings. On a positive note, my Bose soundbar started working today. The update was stuck for over a month. Better late than never... I'm taking this back tomorrow and getting a Sonos. I should have known better.

I bought this product over 4 years ago and i want to say i am never going to shop with BOSE ever again period. 1.5 years into ownership the unit went completely dead... sent it in $75 later and i have a working unit again ... 2.5 years later same thing happens... contact to see if there is anything they can do for me... send it in for another $75 or we can offer a discount of 20% on a new unit ... $400 original purchase plus $75 for repairs with a new unit it would have been $320 with the discount so essentially spend $795 for 2 speakers the same if i bought them new off the shelf i know the mark up is 100% on these consumers electronics so its beyond me why a company like BOSE wants to lose a customer for life over something as simple as their product making it past a year ( yes new 1 year warranty )

On the positive the return policy on the Bose is good as it was needed. The first one I bought had a bad battery. I replace it and the primary issue was the issues connecting with Alexa. Look at the app reviews before buying. It is a great mobile speaker though don't pay extra if you are buying it because of Alexa.

      Hi there,

It's surprising that the speaker has stopped charging. Please try pressing and holding the play/pause button on the speaker for 15 seconds to reboot the speaker, while the charging cable is unplugged.

Extremely annoyed by this product.. haven't really overused it It has been a few years but now I have 19% battery that last 10 minutes.. If I pay over $300 for some type of system as small as this I expect it to last a lot longer.. I will be very skeptic to buy any Bose products from now on
