Motorcycle wind noise, what motorcycle wind noise?

I bought these primarily to use on a motorcycle to help reduce wind noise. I just finished my first test ride (about 10 minutes at 70 mph). Bottom line: these work scary good. I was stunned. Told my wife they turned my Suzuki into a Lexus. I started out with them on playing music at a high but comfortable volume. After a mile or so at speed I paused the music and the quiet was almost eerie. Then I. turned the power switch off to eliminate active noise cancelling and was assaulted by wind noise. I didn't appreciate how well they had been working. Switched noise cancelling back on and everything went quiet again. Cons for motorcyclists: It is tricky getting a helmet on over them. For me it took some practice until I finally found a way to use my index fingers to hold them in place while sliding my helmet on. Once I had my helmet on they stayed in place without a problem. I wear a fairly tight full-face helmet. There was some random popping (reminded me of my ears popping on an airplane) which was mentioned in some of the reviews I read. In my opinion, small price to pay for the noise reduction offered and understandable given the conditions. Finally, cord management might or might not be an issue. I was used to bluetooth headphones and I use my phone for navigation so I'll have to find an unobtrusive way to keep cords out of the way. No biggie though. Like I said, this was only a short, first ride. I'm looking forward to testing them on a longer trip.

Work great but feel like 10 dollar earbuds. I would feel safer wearing my apple earbuds than these because they are so fragile. I would not recommend these because of this. These won't last more than a year.

I've had these headphones for almost a year now, and I have never once regretted buying them. They are insanely comfortable, stay charged for several hours, and actually really cut down on noise around you. Of course, you can still hear things, but wow these are definitely comparable to over-ear headphone noise cancelling quality. I love everything about these earbuds! Also, I purchased these online from Best Buy...when I opened the box, one of the plastic pieces was ripped. I took the box back, and they gave me an entirely new pair of earphones right away. Great customer service!

The best product for a sound night sleep

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

If you have a partner that snores like a chainsaw during the night, this is for you. Most noise cancelling headphones (over the ear or on the ear) are too bulky to sleep comfortably with. These take a little getting use to, but if you are already using the foam ear plugs these are easy to transition to and soooo much better. Im really glad Bose has released the new product - I am still on the original QC20i (black and grey stripe wires), and they are like new despite having been slept on, 300 times or more and travelling on planes to Asia and Europe for work. I was worried Bose might not have a replacement when these die, and marriage would go off the skids. Thanks Bose! My headphones do not completely silence really loud, in-your-ear snoring, but 95%-98% is gone and what remains is gentle muffled background noise that is not grating. Think the sound of faraway ocean waves or ujahi breathing (for yoga fans). Kind of soothing actually. Medium and soft snoring noise are eliminated, and if you want to hear them you can go to the partial mode. (Yeah, right. The feature works though).

    They work as advertised.

The Bose - QuietComfort 20 Headphones are expensive, but they do work. I bought them specifically so I could listen to music or books while I cut my lawn, without having to crank the volume all the way up to hear it over the lawnmower. These earbuds do not eliminate the sound of my lawnmower, but they do reduce it to the point where I only need to turn up the volume by a small amount (compared to where I would have it set without the lawnmower running ) to be able to clearly hear the audio program. The noise cancellation feature is most effective for constant sounds and low frequencies. It is much less effective for intermittent sounds and high frequencies. Don't expect perfect sound isolation. If you temper your expectations, you will be happy with the performance. This is the first pair of noise canceling earbuds I have owned. I have at least one minor complaint so far about the design: The battery and electronics that drive the noise cancellation are contained in a small housing (with a switch, LED's and USB port) that dangles in the middle (not at the midpoint) of the wire going from the audio device (MP3 player, phone, etc.) to the earbuds. The short wire between the housing and audio device is a likely point of failure for the Bose earbuds, since it is constantly flexing during use. I wish Bose had included some convenient way to attach the housing (with the battery and electronics) to the audio device, or a means to clip it to something else nearby, to minimize the opportunity for damage/wearout of the short length of wire. This would not be such a big deal if these earbuds were not so expensive, but since they are, they are not something that I would want to have to replace on an annual basis. One other complaint is that the Bose - QuietComfort 20 Headphones don't come with a USB adapter that can plug into a 110v wall outlet to charge the battery. Instead, I use the adapter that came with another Bose product that I purchased a couple of years ago. But, at this price point I would have expected Bose to include an adapter for charging.

    A Definite Must

When researching I found such high reviews and decided to give these a try. To my surprise they sound awesome along with the noise cancelling aspect. I used them with my iPod touch, IPad, and IPod Classic. All sounded great with the classic sounding the best. Mind you I also compared these to my Bose sport buds which also sound great. The additional amplification from the noise cancelling put you in a concert like sound. These were not bought specifically for flights, and will be used on a regular basis. The best summary is that you get the over the ear headphone sound with ear buds. Well worth the money. Will also get the extended warranty for piece of mind.

I travel extensively on planes for business. The noise cancelling is amazing and the sound quality of the music is the best I have ever experienced. Even putting these on in noise cancelling mode and not listening to anything allows me to relax in peace and quiet. I also accidentally damaged my first pair. It was past the date for an exchange in store at Best Buy, so I called Bose customer service. They emailed me a prepaid mailing label, took back the damaged product, and I had a brand new pair within a week, no charge. Bose customer service was amazing.

I've own these pair of headsets, since they first came out. I absolutely love them especially on the plans. I travel at least once a month on long distance flights, and these headsets block all of the plane noise. I would recommend these over any other in-ear noise cancelling headsets out there...

I was concerned about the price and didn't know if the headphones would fit in my ears well. I think the best feature is the way they actually fit in my ears and stay in place. Followed closely by the noise cancelling capability. The charging works well - USB connection to my laptop; convenient. The 3 hours plus charge remaining light is a nice feature too. Not a big fan of the battery unit, but understand the need for it. Flat design allows you to fold it over next to your phone and stick the whole thing in your pocket.

The best in ear noise reduction ear buds. I personally find these much more comfortable than over ear headphones and more secure than Apple earbuds. I travel a lot so I use them mostly on the plane and they are the best. They significantly reduce the background noise and you can fall asleep without losing them or the bulk of the over ear units.

Awesome Sound and Comfort for a limited time only

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I am a devoted customer of Bose and have talked many friends, coworkers, and employees into spending the extra bucks for Bose products. I am very disappointed with these SoundSport and Bose for one reason they don’t work long but the do sound awesome, super comfortable, easy to install, and stay where they are put. I commute daily 22 miles from work to home on my bicycle and takes about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on the weather. It has been 94 – 99 degrees and very humid here in Texas with no rain and have gone through three pairs in two weeks. The FIRST PAIR developed a static in the left ear and would not work stop either powered off or on after 65 minutes of riding (99 degrees that day with clear skies). The SECOND PAIR a few days later lasted about 48 minutes into the ride and developed static in the left ear, 10 minutes later just went dead (96 Degrees clear skies). The THIRD PAIR after 54 minutes of riding did the same as the second except they went dead in less than three minutes (96 Degrees clear skies). I do sweat a lot due to the humidity, heat, and rigorous workouts and think they do not hold up well in heat combined with sweat. They did work great for two days indoors on the second pair because I was sick at home playing games and watching movies and these were used the whole time without a glitch. I have tried all the major brands of sports earbuds and these are definitely the best by far but they will only last an hour if you believe in a good workout. If you just want to use these indoors you will love them but if you work out you will just get frustrated and disappointed like me. It definitely has a design flaw.

      Thanks for sharing your feedback.
We engineered the SoundSport wireless headphones to be stable and comfortable, sweat and weather resistant, and provide amazing sound. While they’re delivering on this promise for the vast majority of owners, we’ve found that a small percentage of customers, like you, have experienced a problem under specific conditions related to extreme levels of sweat and moisture.
We’ve taken every SoundSport wireless headphone that’s been returned to us, tore them down in our labs, and now have a solution. Going forward, every SoundSport wireless headphone will include this update, and they'll be ready by the end of August.

Since it appears you’ve had this issue, we want to help you. Please give us a call at 1-800-819-7032 or email us at [email protected]. Bose

The QC20 wired earbuds have surpassed my expectations. When the noise-cancelling is turned off, it sounds like a nice set of earbuds. But when the noise-cancelling is turned on, it has an indescribably impressive sound. These sound even better than my old Bose over ear noise-cancelling earphones. It has very deep and rich lows without losing the mids and highs. I am so glad I spent the money.

I was hooked with the very first tune I listened to using the Bose QC20. There's no going back. The earbuds fit comfortably, the noise blocking rivals that of the over-ear headphones, and the sound quality is superb with a surprisingly strong bass. A superior feature here is the ultra-portability and greater comfort while traveling when compared to over-ear models.

    Switching from Shure

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I just purchased the Bose QuietComfort 20 in-ear headphones yesterday, so have only tried them out around the house. I am a Bose Aviation Headset user, so I'm somewhat familiar with their Active Noise Cancelling technology. Also, I use Bose SoundSport in ear headphones during my workouts. So, this is my 3rd pair of Bose personal audio equipment. Shure uses foam ear pieces which essentially function as earplugs so that only the sound from the headphones enters your ear canal. Bose uses ear pieces which fit rather loosely - the ear pieces themselves don't block out much noise - that's where the noise cancelling hardware/software shines. I'm in the process of switching from an older pair of Shure SE 530 headphones, which provide a very broad sound stage and reproduce sound very well (using modern "compressed" digital sources). Shure's headphones seem to be getting pricier, so whereas I used to always by Shure without even a second thought, I considered this Bose product. The sound reproduction of these Bose headphones is acceptable for general use. I'd say true audiophiles would probably be unimpressed. But, for general use (around the house, office, and for travel), they are an excellent choice. They seem to be a bit bass heavy, but that might be corrected with your device's equalizer settings. The main feature to tout is the active noise cancelling technology. I was impressed, as I have been in the past, with Bose's command of this function. Believe the hype - this set really can block out ambient noises, to the point where I couldn't even hear myself snapping my own fingers. The obvious drawback is that you have a powered control module in-line, and it sits really close to the plug to your source. But, if you can get past that, you will appreciate this set. There is also a handy in-line control feature with an "aware mode" that allows some sounds to pass through the noise filter. I don't use the in-line controller much, and I haven't tried using the phone function. Bose claims that the USB-charger takes 2 hours to full charge, and will last for 16 hours of active noise cancelling (haven't tested this yet), and there is an LED on the noise cancelling module that tells you status of the device. I'll be flying this weekend so I'm anxious to see how these perform on a commercial airliner. Pros: Active Noise Cancelling, In-Ear design, small packaging (makes for easy travel) Cons: You need to charge the attached module, three supplied ear piece sizes might not be a perfect fit
