My home office is located in the basement, directly beneath my daughter's bedroom. My daughter likes to sing. My daughter likes to wear headphones, also, which means she usually has absolutely NO CLUE as to how loud she is singing. Since I'm in my office pretty much all day, every day, her incessant singing is enough to drive me nuts! In order to preserve my sanity, and maintain harmony in the household, my wife bought me these top-notch BOSE Noise-Cancelling over-the-ear headphones. Now, I wear glasses, so over-the-ear headphones are not easy for me; they usually wind up pressing my earpieces against my temples (or into the back of my ear), causing minor-to-severe discomfort. These headphones are so well-cushioned, so comfortable, that I can wear them (and have) literally for hours at a time without thinking about it. Here's the real kicker: These headphones sound great just like they are; however, BOSE has the filtering technology that completely obliterates all outside noise interference when you turn the filtering on. Yes, it's a powered filtering technology; uses a single AAA battery, and when you flip the switch (conveniently located on the side of the left earphone), it's astounding how quiet everything suddenly gets. It's like a noise vacuum. I'm not sure how Bose does it, but I will swear by the technology. It simply works. Don't be turned off by the fact that it's a "powered techology", however; the headphones still work even without a battery. The noise-cancelling, however, works best when you power it on. I use these almost daily for movies or music on my 27" iMac, and they're fantastic. I've also used them (sparingly) with my iPhone for calls and for music, and the quality is excellent. Bose has always been a step above the rest of the imitators, and these noise-cancelling headphones are no different. A bit steep, yes, but well worth the investment to maintain my sanity, and keep peace in our home. Definitely recommend these to anyone who truly wants to block out outside noise/interference, and just enjoy the sound of what YOU wish to hear.

Bose has done it. They have improved on perfection. The older model of noise suppressing headphones I had were simply used up. I use them almost daily and they got so worn I hade to replace them even though they still worked perfectly. The new model is smaller, folds up into a smaller case and the best news is you can use them with the noise supresser off in quiet environments to conserve batteries. They are still the most comfortable best fitting excellent sounding headphones on the market.

I am a frequent flyer doing coast-to-coast trips each weekend. What I need is a good sleep during the long 5 hour flights. I put on the Bose QC25 before take-off and the rest is a mystery. I wake up to the thud of the landing gear hitting the tarmac. These headphones have an excellent noise cancelling performance. I have heard people complain that they still hear some white noise, well of course, that's what a noise cancelling headphone is supposed to do. Also, the battery (AAA) life is great on this one. Mine typically lasts for 8 x 5 hour trips before the green status light starts blinking. I always carry an extra battery in the case, which has a dedicated compartment for keeping a spare battery. The fact that it's a AAA means you can buy one in any place easily. Finally, the rectangular case is a big change over the old QC15's oval case. It just fits easy in the bag's compartments. I don't know who came up with the oval case idea in the first place.

Most people buy active noise canceling headphones for airplane travel. I decided to try these for mowing the lawn and personally, I think they work great (my wife is not as impressed as I am - she has excellent hearing but has used them for the same purpose). I'm 58 and have enough hearing loss that I use hearing aids for most day-to-day activities, but I do not wear them for listening to music or during yard work. I have worn hearing protection during noisy activities since the mid 1980s, and for the past few years used a commonly seen yellow and black noise protection headset with a built-in AM/FM radio. The sound quality of this device is so poor that I would sometimes just use other hearing protection without a radio. When I started looking for something better (sound quality wise), Bose kept coming to the top of the list. Even though most audiophile web sites pan Bose products, the general consensus was that Bose did make the best active noise canceling headphones. These headphones do a remarkable job with the volume of noise that a walk-behind, gas-engined lawnmower makes, but they do not cancel out all of the noise. It is reduced enough however that it enables me to listen to music or radio broadcasts from my iPhone without having the volume turned up really high. Using these has made the mundane task of mowing a much more pleasurable experience. For in-home listening of music when I don't need noise canceling, I use my Bowers & Wilkins P7 or my Audeze EL-8. The only thing that could be better is if they were wireless, but I suspect since I have now bought a pair, Bose will introduce a Bluetooth version soon. I highly recommend this product. You will not be disappointed.

As a graduate student who likes to study in various coffee shops, these headphones are the perfect study tool. The best-in-class noise cancelling makes any environment a good study environment by blocking out excessive noise. While you can still hear people right next to you talking, it pretty much still gets the job done. Also comes with a nice, compact carrying case. The required AAA battery also provides decent mileage. Quality comfort.

For my purposes, these are great. They were purchased for noise-cancelling and listening to my textbooks. Although there were some better ones that I tested in the store, they were 3 or 4 times the price. These lessened the noise while letting me hear what I needed to - my books from class and articles using a reader. They are not too heavy and the audio quality is perfect for me.

Although expensive, the Bose headphones work as presented and are effective in achieving their purpose. They are also very light and comfortable. The latter is critical for long periods of wearing. I recommend them for anyone looking for this type of product.

I am very pleased with the comfortability, however, while at the gym, i had to take them off periodically due to lots of heat and sweat in the ears/earcups. Noise Cancellation is great, but doesn't cancel high pitch noises, like talking, banging of objects, screaming, etc. I bought these to use in the house while studying, and while they are effective, talking noises still come through, so keep that in mind. The sound quality is like any other bose device, good mids and highs, but bass is seriously lacking. If you want to buy these JUST for the sound quality and NOT the noise canceling, these are NOT for you, there are other better options. I was actually angry about these for the fact the bass was so bad, it was lacking, and i wanted to return them. Furthermore, at high volumes, listening to rap or electronic music, there was LOTS of distortion, something i never saw in a Bose product before. i was very disappointed, but one day i took it to a gym, and they sounded quite good and the bass was also good. ONE MAJOR problem, is that these don't have a high volume. for some reason, at max volume, they are still not very loud. Overall, mediocre pair of headphones, but good noise canceling

It was a tossup between these and some beats. If you want to look cool like a 13-year-old wearing bright colored heavy ugly looking ear phones that do not have great quality then get the beats. These BOSE ones are outstanding and BOSE makes a great product. The first time you put them on and activate the acoustic noise canceling option it is completely amazing! It takes you away like you are on a different planet from everything that is going on around you. The great thing about these as well is that mid work out you will never have to worry about not being able to use the ear phones like the beats that once the batteries wear down there is no audio coming through the earphones. These ear phones sound just as great without the noise canceling option and are very lightweight. The semi hard case that the comes with them is great however is a very tight and precise fit. Tossing them in there is not a quick event and it does take some time to get used to putting them back properly however at the cost of these you don't want them to get damaged.

I have both QC15 and this one. QC25 is better than QC15 almost every aspect - a little better noise cancellation, better built quality, can still use the headphone even without battery, lower weight, better carry case, smaller size. Excellent product.

Comfortable Headphones & Rich Sound of Music

For years, my headphones of choice for air travel were the Sennheiser PXC 450 model, which I bought from a New York electronics store. The Sennheisers had excellent noise-canceling, and the sound was amazing, especially when listening to rich music such as the Phantom of the Opera, any Mozart, Les Miserables, Brahm's Requiem, Sgt. Pepper, Blood on the Tracks, and In Rainbows. But I wanted an upgraded, updated set of headphones for an upcoming trip overseas, and I had read that the Bose QC 25's had the same attributes as I detected in the Sennheisers, were improvements upon the QC models, and were very comfortable. We have owned Bose Waves, Bose iOS in-ear headphones, blue tooth Bose mini-speakers, and we love the Bose convenience and overall quality in make and sound. I was not disappointed after bringing home the QC 25's and using them with and without music. They mitigate unwanted noise and they bring up music in a very satisfying way. For me, they are also more comfortable than the Sennheisers were. A very happy buy from Best Buy.

Excellent for air travel. Very comfortable, lightweight, small, nice case which easily fits in bag pocket or briefcase. Excellent noise cancellation, even if you simply want a quiet environment to read. Strongly recommend. Also white is great....less likely to leave in the airplane!

These are great headphones! I got the noise cancelling headphones to go on a long airplane trip - the noise canceling feature worked like a charm. It blocked out other passengers, the noise of the engines and even my own husband :p. They are really easy to use and if you don't want to turn on the noise cancelling or the battery runs out you can still use the headphones (the noise cancelling feature uses a battery). The ear cups are very comfortable, nicely padded and fit completely over the ear. The headphones come with a nice case - which hold an adaptor for some airlines (included) and a place to hold an extra battery. The headphones fold up and the cord is removable so that the ends don't get kinked when folding the headphones for storage.

These are the best headphones you'll ever buy. I now work in a very loud, noisy environment. I can work head down in my computer for hours now without being distracted by exterior noise, and even white noise. These headphones are comfortable allowing me to wear them all day, everyday, without ear fatigue. The depth of sound, and separation of sound in music really comes through like never before. I owned Beats Studio by Dr. Dre before buying these, I've also owned high-end Sony headphones as well. These make them all sound like tin. I am so happy with them, I'm letting all the other engineers, developers and business analysts in my company try them out. It's the only answer to the new building noise issue we have!

If you nee noise cancelling, this are best headphones for the job. They're light and really comfortable. You could use them for hours and not even be bothered. They come with a nice hard case that even include a spot for extra batteries. They're expensive but I think they're the best and they're worth it.

I purchased these hoping they would minimize noise in our open-office setting at work, and they exceed expectations. It is amazing how much extra noise you don't notice until you don't hear it when you've got these headphones on! I can still slightly hear some heavy typing (my own) and nearby inter-cubicle (read: louder) conversation (but not enough to hear words, just that someone is talking). I also used these on a flight and they made such a difference! They are also incredibly comfortable! I have a "big head" and get headaches easily from headbands, etc., but I can wear these all day with little bother if any at all. My ONLY wish is that they were wireless. The noise-cancelling works without the wire (the wire is detachable), but if you want to listen to music or anything else you have to be connected. I didn't get these for sound quality, but they do sound amazing IMO and I can hear music/videos clearly at low volumes. Anyway, these are GREAT & definitely worth the price especially for the noise-cancelling :)

I had tried the bargain priced noise cancelling headphones. After investing over $100 on the bargain variety and still being able to hear everything around me on an airplane, I bit the bullet. I am so glad I spent the extra money on the best noise cancelling headphones on the market. They are very comfortable and preform as promised. I wore them on a 6 hour flight and never noticed that they were on. If you are looking for noise cancelling headphones save the research and headaches and buy the Bose QuietComfort 25 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones. You won't be sorry.

I tried a less expensive noise excluding headphone and found that it didn't really reduce noise and it didn't cover my ears well enough. I returned those and bought the Bose. I did not want blue tooth because my major voice and music devices do not have blue tooth. I wanted plug-ins. These headphone fit nicely, are soft and don't press against my glasses for hours of listening and when I want quiet. I want to be able to concentrate without noise at home, car trips and airplanes. Since airplane have been made lighter there is more ambient noise and your aisle neighbor can be one that talks for a 5 hour flight. I am looking forward to my next trip and noise exclusion plus being able to hear my music at a much lower volume not damaging my hearing .

I recently used them on my 10+ hour flight from DC to Honolulu. They were very comfortable the entire flight. Noise cancellation can't be beat. Even though I made sure to have a spare battery, it wasn't needed. Only flaw is the lack of proper storage of the wire, within the case.
