Great Sound

She has long wanted a pair of Bose noise canceling headphones that packed nicely for travel. For her music I paired them with her iPhone and also paired them to the TV using a separately purchased Avantree Bluetooth receiver/transmitter. In short - she loves them.

Whether you pump sound into them or not, they are an amazing device For what they filter away. Wait till you see what they can do on an airplane. Then when you put music into them, you will be amazed by the Bose sound qualities. Must have purchase in my opinion.

My problem with these headphones is the substandard wired mode. What were the Bose R&D dept folks thinking when they installed their proprietary super tiny stereo jack on these headphones instead of the normal 1/8" or 3.5mm jack? It crackles and pops, even being brand new! Wired sound is poor and user cannot power on the headset to use the electronic sound shaping when connected to wire. I also wasted $25.00 more dollars on the longer optional cable, hoping for better performance, but it has a worse problem with crackling than the original cheap original "way too-short" cable. Overall, Bose should know I won't ever buy another of their products that have the substandard tiny stereo jack feature. How disappointing that Bose allowed this tiny jack receptacle feature to be released and disappoint so many buyers from any future purchases. Just read all of the other reviews! I bought the Skull Candy EVO Crusher headphones the same day, and they are the better value by far. The SCC's also feature the wired mode and while powered on for optimum tone. They also have the normal sized mini stereo jack. The Bose set was on sale for $50.00 off, but even with the discount, it was an ultra-disappointing deal and product. BT mode tone is good and noise canceling is good for price range, but don't count on using wired mode for any reason....

Regarding the cable, you shouldn't experience a decrease in the audio quality when you add the cable. You are also able to activate the noise cancelation by switching the headphones on. If you are experiencing issues, I would recommend making sure that the cable is fully seated in the connection.
