Good sound, NOT good for conference calls

I had done a bunch of research before deciding on these. It was down to the NC700 and these. I went with the QuietComfort initially, but have since returned it and bought the NC700. While the sound quality is what you would expect from Bose, I wanted to use them for work and conference calls. The background noise that came through was terrible. People on the calls would constantly ask me to mute, etc.
