These headphones, the Bose QC45, failed after less than a year, apparently due to battery failure. The same happened to a previous pair of Bose headphones I had, the QC35 model, but those headphones lasted about 3 years before totally crashing and becoming inoperable.

I have the 35 model now, and while the 45 has some nicer controls and features, it had some serious connectivity issues via Bluetooth. The headphones paired perfectly with my phone, tablet, and laptop, but the audio stuttered once every 5 to 30 seconds. Ended up returning.

Got these to replace an old pair of Sony XM3s and was looking for something lighter weight. While they are, they aren't necessarily better overall. PROS: +Lightweight and comfortable on the ear +Physical power toggle and volume switches +Excellent clarity (especially highs and mids) +Can pair 2 devices at once +Very easy to configure with an Android phone CONS: -When paired with a Windows PC, there is a delay that causes skipping for the first 5 -10 seconds of an audio track. This issue is not present on the Sony XM3 or XM4. -Battery life is poor when compared to the XM3 and XM4. -Bass is weaker than the XM3, but highs and mids are slightly clearer. -Despite being lighter weight, they have similar "cabin pressure" to the XM3, so the difference is negligible. In the end, these were replaced with the Sony XM4s, which are the best headphones I've ever used. While the Bose are great, the better battery life and fuller bass make the XM4 a better fit.

      Hello,
Whilst equalization, like bass or treble, is not adjustable on your product. You can try adjusting equalization on the connected device, if available. Try adjusting in small increments and check if the audio sounds better or worse to you. (Note: Greater adjustments can also impact volume level, which could create distorting or crackling audio.)

Hello, thanks for your feedback. Talking louder allows the communication microphone to pick up your voice over background voices and/or sounds in the same frequency range. The microphone is tuned to pick up typical frequencies of a human voice. Microphone volume is automatically adjusted for softer or louder voices. In environments where a voice is in the background, that voice might be identified as a softer voice and made audible in the phone call.

I am fortunate to have the previous version of these Bose headphones and I must say that quality is something that predominates in both versions, starting with the unboxing in this occasion the packaging is a little more sober and simple, a security band with information about the product and some features, inside the box is the case where the headphones come with a 2.5mm to 3.5mm audio cable and a usb-c cable to charge the headphones. In this time the app that must be downloaded is called Bose Music, should be clarified that it is not the same app that is used with the previous version. The connection is somewhat easy to perform but since the previous version when using the Bluetooth sync button seems to be not very accurate in some occasions or maybe the app needs improvements, however the simplest is to restart the app, turn off and on the headphones and try to connect them again. Once connected the app only allows you to add one more device to connect the headphones and modify user profile information, you can control the volume but so far I have not found a way to equalize the sound. The wireless headphones have a battery that definitely lasts a considerable time, depending on the use you can use them all day with a single charge, or different days several hours, it is a relief when you do not have much time to constantly charge the headphones but it is as I mentioned above, will depend on the use that is given. I am very satisfied with how well these headphones perform noise cancellation, even being next to my AC which is a little noisy, it does not let through practically no outside noise, this thanks also to the earpads that are very, very comfortable and adjust without problem and despite prolonged use they still feel comfortable, what I do not find quite an achievement is the Aware Mode as it does allow external noise to pass and is heard a little clear, however, my problem is with high decibel noises, whether it is the crash of a metal, the banging of a nearby device or plastic that sounds loud, they cause a little annoying noise when you have the headphones on and in Aware Mode, it is not always but when it happens if it can bother a little, I want to believe that this can be improved through software, perhaps in the next firmware update. Finally in the sound section that we could say that it is the most important in the performance of a wireless headset, in my opinion they have a unique clarity that can not be denied, both in voice and music, whatever you listen to will have a clarity and quality of perceptible audio, but it will also depend on the format and streaming service or download music service you use, regarding the volume or how noisy these headphones can be I can say that it is a fair volume, hence why I mention that you can not equalize the sound from the Bose app but if from the app where the audio is played, if so allowed, I insist that the Bose Music app needs to be improved. I have had no major problems just the simple details mentioned above, it is known that Bose is a symbol of quality and elegance so I can fully recommend these wireless headphones QuietComfort45.

Excellent upgrade for older qc users

I am a previous Bose QC25 owner. Coming from a (now busted pair of) QC25 I have to say that the new QC45 is a huge and worthwhile upgrade, in terms of quality, sounds and noise cancelling. The fact that Bose was able to maintain the $300-330 price point with such high quality is amazing to me. People are mostly buying the Bose noise cancelling headsets because they are the market leaders in active noise ancelling. The QC45s do not disappoint. I received my pair before an international flight. I did not hear anything for the entirety of the flight. It was a dream. The QC25s provided a similar experience but the 45s are even better, even more so because they are more comfortable...speaking of which, The 45s are a huge upgrade in comfort. Huge! The biggest is the fact that the feeling of being in a pressurized bubble is completely gone. This has been a huge complaint of ANC headphones, especially Bose. The cups are bigger and the pads more cushy. They have been an absolute pleasure to wear. The build quality has been improved greatly. The folding mechanism is much more smooth, the materials in the headband are higher quality, the extended mechanism is much for fluid. The only downside/change is that at extended size the 45's don't hug your head as much...which is only a problem for your wife when she has to see you using them in public, heh. Sound quality has been greatly improved since the 25s. Everything is so clear. Im not an audiophile but I can certainly tell when something sounds better. Everything is now controlled by the Bose app. It is really well built and provides a nice experience for those on iOS (who want an integrated experience like the AirPods). The Android experience is great too. Initial Bluetooth setup is a little annoying but after it is setup, everything runs smooth like gold. Not everything is peaches and cream though. Bose has removed the airplane adapter, sadly. I guess they are banking on planes having new media controls with a standard 3.5mm port, or people using their phones for entertainment. The new cable is now shorter and lower quality (read: thinner) than the one provided with the 25. Controls have now been moved from the cable to the headset (i prefer the cable as pushing buttons on a headset makes the headset MOVE). And since the qc35, the battery has become non-user-replaceable, meaning once you hit 0% battery you have to stop using it them to recharge...and also it puts a lifespan on the product (whereas a AAA battery can let you use the 25's, among others, for many many years, barring no damage to the product). Time will tell if the 45's are more durable than the 25's (a period of time too long to wait to see for reviewing purposes of course). After 2 years i needed to replace the ear ring pads on my qc25's and after 3.5 years the ANC mechanism in one ear went bust. The cost to replace the anc mechanism was not worth it. The qc45s are certainly a winner. I wholeheartedly recommend them especially for users coming from earlier QC models solely based on the greatly improved build quality and comfort.

These are very good for the purpose they are made for. I can listen to my music or audiobooks quietly at night even though a cyclone fan running nearby. The music also sounds good for most of the tracks in general. ANC: For calls, I tested them with the HVAC unit running and I could not hear the sound of the AC unit. While walking my dog on a windy day, there was some minor noise that could not be filtered but most of the wind noise was filtered. While playing music on some toys, I called my wife and asked if she can hear the music, and she said she did not hear a difference in "aware" and "quiet" mode. For me, the sound was dampened a lot though not eliminated. Call quality: I have made a few calls since I get these and no one had complained about my voice so guess it all is good here. Fit and Ease of Use: They fit nicely and are much lighter than the typical headphones I use. (X2HR, K550, HE4XX), this and no wires make them more likely to be used while not sitting. The on/off/pair button is very good and easy to use, I could do it without taking them off my head. The other cup has media/call control buttons, and they take some getting used to but I liked that they are actual physical buttons instead of touch control. Setup was a breeze and it connected to multiple of my devices (Phone, Tablet, TV) without fail, every single time. Battery life: I did not get the 24 hrs battery life as quoted, which makes sense as it depends on what sound level and ANC you are running them but I did get around 15-16 hrs. Music Quality: These have the Bose signature sound which they are known for, emphasis on bass, and slightly increased highs(treble). The V-shaped sound these can produce is fun to listen to and that is how I typically listen to. The only small gripe I have is that the V-shape does not sound well in some songs and there isn't an equalizer. As there isn't an equalizer in the app so if you need it, you are limited to what the app offers. It will be a great addition to the app if they bring it in the future to allow for some customization to sound signature irrespective of the app I am going to use.  Music Comparison: In gaming, X2HR sounds much airy as it is an open-back can, X2HR does sound shrilly in certain cases though which these don't. In close cans comparison, I liked K550's sound better than these but only slightly. I say these are 4.5 if K550s are 4.7. Summary: I think they rock for what they are, great noise-canceling headphones, great ease of use, and very good sounding headphones which you can just grab and go and start listening to instantly. Yes, there are headphones out there that can sound better(sound is subjective anyway) but this is a great package and I recommend it. P.S.: My wife's job requires her to talk to a lot of people, mine is a quiet thinking type. Typically you can hear her across the floor. When I put these on and I was around 15 feet away, I thought I am hearing someone on the speaker at the other end of her call. I say that is a massive improvement.

As a very satisfied owner of the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds, I was excited to use the new Bose QuietComfort 45 Headphones. I generally prefer over-the-ear headphones to earbuds, especially on noisy aircraft to better block out surrounding noise. Also, because earbuds, no matter how well-designed, eventually fall out, while headphones never do. The only drawback I have found with headphones is when their pressure on my ears causes discomfort over time. I have had that problem with the otherwise excellent SONY WH-1000XM2 headphones, and I was hoping that the Bose QC-45 headphones would be more comfortable. When I opened the Bose QC-45 box, I found that the "instruction manual" consisted of two instructions: 1. Download the Bose Music app, and 2. Slide the Power/Bluetooth switch on the right headphone forward so the app can find the QC-45. It is very common these days for instructions that come with products to do little more than point to digital instructions on the Web, which makes some sense because digital instructions can be updated while printed instructions cannot. Still, I wish companies provided at least a quick start print guide. It is somewhat presumptuous to assume that a customer is going to use headphones with a phone rather than a laptop or other Bluetooth music device. Note that to use the Bose Music app you need to set up an account and sign into it. This means that you need to be connected to the Internet in order to set up an account (and perhaps to use all features of the app; that isn't clear), which could be a problem if you are somewhere without Internet. Like on a plane. Fortunately, I already had the Bose Music app installed on my phone for my Bose earbuds, so it was easy enough to open the app, sign into my account and have it find the QC-45 headphones. In addition to connecting your phone to the headphones, the app explains how to use the buttons on the headphones to pause, play, change volume, and skip forward or back on music tracks. It also explains how to answer, end, and mute phone calls with buttons on the headphone, how to switch between Quiet (noise canceling) and Aware modes with a button, and how to access your phone's voice assistant with a button. All of these feature work superbly. You can also control volume, Quiet/Aware modes, and device source (you can connect the phones to two devices simultaneously) directly from the app. The QC-45 is much more lightweight than the SONY WH-1000XM2 and does not press as hard on the ears. It is therefore much more comfortable. I tested the difference between the noise canceling abilities of the two headphones by listening to a soft Joni Mitchell song with each set of headphones while playing a loud Bruce Springsteen song in the background. The background Springsteen music was only slightly less audible in Quiet mode than Aware mode on the QC-45, while noise cancelling on the SONY WH-1000XM2 almost completely eliminated the background Springsteen music. So there is a tradeoff in comfort and noise cancelling ability. I found connecting to a second device (my Windows 10 laptop) fairly straightforward. I simply asked Windows to scan for new Bluetooth devices and connect to the headphones when they appeared. However, I could not connect until I turned off Bluetooth on my phone; it was if the headphones were not available for additional connections while already connected to my phone. But after I successfully connected to my laptop, I found that the QC-45 headphones were happy to connect to both devices simultaneously, although you can listen to only one device at a time. Of course, the hallmark of Bose is sound quality, and I can't say enough about the beautiful sound from these headphones. Music is crisp, clear, distinct, luscious, and deep. It will be a real pleasure listening to music with these headphones.
