For the amour of money they cost I should be able to use the left just like the right one. Still debating on returning them.

You requested it, and we've made it happen! The latest firmware update makes using either the left or right earbud for music and/or phone calls possible. Connect the earbuds to the Bose Music app to download the update and enjoy independent earbud usage!

They are a lot more comfortable than the previous version. I don't give it 5 stars because the headphones have a second sound that the previous version did not have and sometimes the sound is uncomfortable.
