The earbuds were honestly pretty uncomfortable, I tried every variation and still couldn’t wear them for more than 30 mins without my ears hurting or having to adjust, also when I would adjust the touch settings are so sensitive I would either end a call or skip a song, and I couldn’t even tell if the audio quality was good because of the connectivity issues, there was always a delay or the earbuds wouldn’t connect.

Thanks for your feedback! One of the new features of the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen) is the ability to disable touch controls through the Bose Music app, a great improvement over the first generation.

Bluetooth disconnections can happen due to several factors, including wireless interference, distance from the paired device, low battery levels on either device, or outdated software. Physical obstacles such as walls or metal surfaces can also weaken the signal, and in some cases, protective cases or certain devices may interfere with the connection.

To help you resolve this, here's a troubleshooting guide: http://bose.life/4h2grYO

Big Sound in a Small Package!

Bose is a company that is synonymous with quality. I’ve owned multiple different speakers and headphones and they have continued to maintain the same consistent quality over the years. You know when you’re buying a Bose product that you’re getting what you pay for! Their noise cancelling headphones have always been my go-to option for air travel. They do exactly as advertise and are comfortable for the long journey! But when it comes to headphones I use for daily use it’s always been either an Airpod’s or more recently Beats Fit Pro’s. I thought that the Beats were the best option I could find for working out. They fit well, the noise cancelling worked fine and the music I thought sounded pretty good and that’s what I tend to value in a set of workout headphones. Enter the new Ultra Quiet Comfort Earbuds from Bose! Will they be able to dethrone my Beats Fit Pro’s? The initial setup of the Bose earbuds were straightforward and easy. You can pair the earbuds immediately by hitting the pairing button on the back. They came pre-charged out the box for initial setup. You can pair them through Bluetooth but will get the best functionality using the Bose app. Once paired I named them “Jukebox Jets” and went through the quick tutorial to go over controls. The headphones come in a sleek black case and have 3 sets of ear tips. The ones that initially came on them fit my ears fine. You’re greeted by a startup sound once they’re inserted in your ears that reminds me of the old THX logo back in the 90’s and then the voice will tell you battery life. I tested the earbuds out for the first time in a weekly bowling league. I like to listen to music when bowling to help me focus on the task at head and the noise cancelling drowns out all the extra noise in the alley. When these say they’re in Quiet mode they aren’t kidding. I couldn’t hear anything except myself and the music. The noise cancellation is much more effective than my old beats. I like being able to cycle between the different modes to talk to teammates without having to take my headphones out of my ears. I will say initially I was a little frustrated with the touch controls. They are quite sensitive, and I found myself trying to pause music or skip to the next song and not having the intended outcome. The Beat Fit Pro’s have a tactile button you press in when trying to skip and pause that I think works better than the touch controls of the Bose. It was semi frustrating for a first-time user who usually is pretty good with technology but it doesn’t detract enough to be a problem for me. You can adjust the volume by sliding your finger up or down on the side of the headphones. Holding down on the side for longer than a second or so will cycle between the different modes. There is Quiet, which is strictly noise cancelling, Aware which allows you to hear others around you, and Immersion and Cinemas are modes that deal with music and movies that I’ll touch on shortly! The app has added functionality with an Equalizer and also Shortcut buttons for each ear to do different actions! The biggest thing that I judge headphones on is the quality of the sound and Bose excels as usual in this department. The Ultra Quiet Comfort Earbuds are positively the best sounding earbuds I’ve ever used. The music quality is on another level. It’s hard to describe but the first time I listened to music with them I felt like I heard some songs for the first time. Everything just sounds more pronounced, clear and full with Bose headphones. There’s also an Immersion mode that amplifies the feeling of being encompassed by music. A Still or Motion mode will along you to either sit or move around and it will adjust the music accordingly. Everything sounds so crisp and clear, the bass sounds clean yet full, they’re just phenomenal. There’s a Cinema mode as well for watching movies that I haven’t tested as much, but I listened to a few trailers and it felt like it immersed me in the action! The battery life is solid on the Quiet Comforts and they stay in my ears while I workout, so they have instantly replaced my Beats Fit Pros. Maybe one day they can win me back but for now I am solidly in camp Bose for the foreseeable future. What I love about these earbuds is they do everything the quiet comfort headphones do but in a smaller package. I’m not sure I would even take my old headphones on the airplane anymore after using these. Because frankly I could sleep easier on a plane with these in my ears! Overall I am very happy with the Ultra Quiet Comfort Earbuds. The sound quality is unmatched and the comfort, battery life, and overall experience have catapulted these earbuds to the top of the list for me! Get yourself a pair today, you won’t be disappointed!

Great True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earbuds!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The Bose QuietComfort Ultra (2nd Gen) True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earbuds have great sound, a nice and efficient design and many convenient and useful features. Following are my observations after thoroughly testing them out: - These earbuds have a nice looking, slim design. They fit well in the ear and come with multiple sets of tips and bands so you can get the right fit for your ears. There is an earbud seal test you can use on the app to verify the seal you are getting in each ear. They are lightweight and I've been able to wear them comfortably for multiple hours with no issues. - There is a QR Code on the box that leads you to download the Bose App, which you use to set up and customize the earbuds, access instructions and tips, and update the earbuds when necessary. - Connection to my iPhone via Bluetooth was easy and I was connected is seconds. - The earbuds allow for Aware, Quiet (noise cancelling) and Immersive audio settings and you can toggle through them with a push of either earbud. You can also create your own custom audio settings. The Immersive Audio setting is unique. It can be turned off or you can select Still or Motion. The Still setting makes it sound like the the music is coming from a stage in front of you and adjusts to keep that feeling when your head is turning. The Motion setting lets the audio follow you as you move around. - You can set up shortcuts through the app to allow you to cycle through the audio modes, cycle through immersive audio settings, switch between Bluetooth devices, access a voice assistant or access Spotify. Each ear can be customized so you can cycle through different shortcuts you select for each ear. In addition, the earbuds allow for play/pause, skip forward or backwards, volume up and down or answering and disconnecting calls, all with simple taps or slides on either earbud. - The App also has an equalizer; a feature that I love. You can select from one of four provided EQ settings, or create your own custom EQ settings with the 3-band equalizer. I always enjoy adjusting the equalizer to the sound I prefer for whatever I am listing to. - The earbuds last for 6 hours in Aware or Quiet mode on a full charge, or 4 hours in immersive audio mode. The case holds up to three additional charges. - The noise cancelling feature works quite well, I can wear them around a noisy environment in the Quiet mode and it effectively cuts out the background noise. - Most importantly with earbuds is the sound. I tested these earbuds out with multiple genres of music, as well as loud/soft, instrumental, male/female vocalists, etc. I'm very impressed with the sound. The music was clear and crisp, with good solid bass and no distortion at any level I played them at. I tend to like a heavy bass punch and these earbuds delivered far better than you might expect for earbuds. - While this did not affect my rating of the earbuds and features, the one thing I found challenging was getting the box/package open. I had to rip apart and mangle the box as there didn't seem to be anyway to get the inner box to open or to slide out. in the end, this is a minor thing, unless you like to keep the box to store them in when not in use. The Bose QuietComfort Ultras (2nd Gen) are a great pair of true wireless noise cancelling earbuds.

    My Go-To Travel Earbuds

I've been using the 1st Gen Bose QC Ultra Earbuds for the past 2 years and these are a nice upgrade from that model that fixes a few flaws. The ANC is still the best on the market, and I noticed that the "hiss" that existed in the 1st Gen is now gone, leading to an even better experience. I'm on 30 flights a year on average, and I have tried other earbuds, but I always come back to the Bose. Nothing else is better at blocking out ambient noise while also sounding great. The immersive sound mode is nice when watching movies, but it will eat into the battery life and I prefer just regular ANC mode which gets you 6 hours of listening time. The charging case now offers wireless charging, something that was missing from the 1st Gen. Also, if you look at the ear tip compared to the last gen, you'll notice there's something I can only describe as an "earwax guard". Basically there's a grille that takes away a deep pocket that could accumulate dirt and earwax and need to constantly be cleaned. It's a small, subtle change, but useful. Otherwise the design, style and case are essentially unchanged from the last gen. Calls sound better on both ends thanks to the new AI features that help sort out ambient background noise. Although the noise cancelling, even with the ambient mode, makes it difficult to hear yourself when talking. My preference on calls is to just use one earbud unless I'm somewhere noisy and need both to hear better. Overall, these sound slightly better than the 1st gen and offer some newer features that are definite improvements. That being said, I don't know that I would tell current gen 1 owners to run right out and upgrade, as those ones are still great and very similar to these. But if you're in the market for a new set, or your first set, and you travel a lot and want the best ANC, these are it. And if you're considering the 1st gen, I would say go for these instead as the upgrades make them a little more future proof and enjoyable.

I received my new Bose QuietComfort (QC) Ultra Earbuds, 2nd generation recently. First task, charge them to ensure that I’m working with a full battery. If you don’t have the Bose app already, which is necessary for the proper running of the earbuds, you can find it available in the Google Play Store or Apple’s App Store. I didn’t need to install the app as I already had it installed for my previously purchased QuietComfort and QuietComfort II earbuds. The Bose App has some handy built-in features, like showing you the battery levels for each of your Bose devices. The App is also necessary to perform the installation process of new Bose products, like these new Ultras. The App walked me through adding the earbuds and pairing the buds to my phone. Once the earbuds were installed on the app and paired to my Phone, a newer version of the Ultra’s software was automatically installed (this happened transparently). In addition to installing and pairing new devices, the App provides tools to control how the earbuds function. For example, adjusting the built-in Equalizer. The Equalizer has three controls, one for Bass, one for Mid, and one for Treble. Each control can be changed individually. On the Equalizer page, there are preset buttons for Bass Boost, Bass Reducer, Treble Boost, and Treble Reducer. The Bose app also has a Mode function, with four modes preconfigured. They are 1) Quiet, 2) Aware, 3) Immersion, and 4) Cinema. Performing a Tap & Hold on an earbud toggles between Modes. Of the four Modes already configured, only two (Quiet and Aware) are initially enabled. With only Quiet and Aware being enabled, performing a Tap & Hold moves the earbuds from Aware Mode to Quiet Mode. Another Tap & Hold will move the earbuds from Quiet Mode back to Aware Mode. If you enable Immersion in the app, for example, then Tap & Hold will move the earbuds from Aware to Quiet to Immersion, then back to Aware. I also tested wearing the Ultra’s during a phone call. By the end of the call, I asked the caller how their experience was talking to me. They indicated that they had no issues at all – which was my experience as well. What’s in the Box • 2 Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen) • Bose Fit Kit: • 3 pairs of ear tips (S, M, L) • 3 pairs of stability bands (1, 2, 3) • Wireless charging case • 12" USB-C® (A to C) cable • Safety sheet If you’re interested in purchasing a pair of Ultra’s, they come in White, Deep Plum, and Black colors. In my opinion, Active Noise Cancellation is truly excellent. The Ultra’s seemed to do an outstanding job blocking out street traffic noise than my Quiet Comfort and QC II buds. I only hear outside noises when a car or motorcycle comes racing by. Battery life for these buds with a full charge is 6 hours. A full recharge takes around 2 hours. Maximum talk time is 4 hours, which is identical for Immersive Audio. While a USB-C charging cable is provided in the kit, the buds can be charged wirelessly. The case supports up to 3 full charges. These buds have a water-resistant rating of IPX4 – which means that the buds are protected against water splashes from any direction, but not against direct immersion or submersion. Wireless connectivity supports A2DP Bluetooth Audio Streaming and HFP BT. BT version is 5.3. Multipoint connectivity, a built-in feature, lets you pair to multiple devices at the same time, and switch between the paired devices easily. All in all, the Bose Ultra earbuds work great! As such, I am giving them a 5-star rating.

These earbuds are phenomenal! The sound quality is so crisp and fluid, it feels like I’m sitting in the studio with the artist. I love being able to catch the subtle inflections, breathwork, and pauses in the music. Those tiny details make the listening experience feel so intentional and intimate. It’s incredibly satisfying, especially with acoustic tracks or live recordings where nuance matters. Battery life has also been a standout. In my experience, they consistently last at least six hours, sometimes more depending on usage. I rarely find myself scrambling for a charger mid-day, which is a relief. And speaking of relief, the noise cancellation is insanely good. It’s been pretty windy the past few days where I live, and I’ve still been able to enjoy long walks without the usual gusts hijacking my playlists or phone calls. I can listen freely without feeling like the wind or random background chatter is part of the conversation. That alone makes them worth it. Comfort-wise, they’re a dream. My ears tend to get fatigued easily, especially with in-ear styles, but these fit snugly with minimal ache even after hours of wear. I’ve worn them through work sessions, errands, and even while winding down in the evening, and they’ve held up beautifully. I usually pair them with my iPhone, but they connect seamlessly with my other devices too, laptop, tablet, you name it. I hate lugging around a bunch of tech accessories, so the fact that these earbuds fill multiple roles and use USB-C (one charger for everything!) is a huge win. It’s such a space-saver and just makes life easier. Overall, I genuinely think these earbuds won’t leave you disappointed. They’ve checked every box for me, sound, comfort, battery, versatility, and I’m honestly kind of obsessed.
