First Bose product. Not impressed. Horrible. Purchased in December 2023. Within 2 months the left earbud was mostly just static. Today, june of 2024, the right earbud has now decided to sound like static. No matter what volume level, or sound setting i use in the Bose app, every thing is now static. Ive not even used these very much. Save your money and go buy some budget buds. Got some cheap 15 dollar buds that these actually were meant to upgrade, which are now being used to replace these. Theyve been used twice as long as the Bose. Save. Your. Money!

I'm sorry to hear of the static in your QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds, John! It shouldn't occur that you can only hear static when enjoying your audio content. I would recommend clearing the pairing lists on both sides, to establish a new connection, and resetting your earbuds as well. I bought headphones, used them for a while and decided to return them, I was late for 1 day and they didn't accept the goods back, and the Best Bay employees were just awful to talk to, they were rude and categorically didn't want to accept the goods back, like you were late. I explained to these employees that you can't hear anything in these headphones when talking. The result is the same, the goods are not worth the money, the quality leaves much to be desired.

Best sound, fit, battery, & noise canellation!

These are some of the most complete earbuds that Ive found. Air Pods Pro 2 fell out of my ears too but sounded great. Sony’s XM5’s battery life was too short and were way to bulky in my ears but also sounded great. Quiet Comfort Ultra fits and sits comfortable in my ears. Battery life is unmatched. I dint have to chatge them every night and i wear them all night as i work overnights in a loud warehouse. The noise canceling is top tier, best that I’ve tried and you see the forementioned earbuds that also have noise cancellation. Even better thabvthe Bose Quiet Comfort 2. If you already have the BQC2 theres no need to upgrade though. Theres not much of a difference in sound quality. Now the fit is what i love. The wing tips hold these earbuds in place. You can run, work out, treadmill or what have yoh without fear of them falling out. Mine fit perfectly right out of the box but you have many ear cushion sizes and also wing sizes so a great fig is almost guaranteed! Not bulky at all, set your Bose signature sound and grove on with any genre. The EQ lets you put your own twist to their already premium sound. If anyone complains about bass or volume needs a new phone bc it’s definitely your phone and not the buds atp! Hands doen these are THE BEST EARBUDS ON THE CURRENT MARKET as of February 2024!

Too little of a refresh that doesn't fix issues

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

While Bose has been a prominent audio player for years now, they seemingly don’t release upgrades to their headphone products quickly. The yearly refresh cycle that other companies use is more like a two or three year cycle, generally, with Bose. That changed when they announced the QuietComfort Ultra earbuds, looking to refresh last year’s QuietComfort II earbuds. Is this refresh worth your time? Let’s dive in. One of the (and almost only) new features of the Bose QuietComfort Ultra earbuds is the implementation of spatial audio. This technology creates an immersive, three-dimensional soundstage that enhances the overall listening experience. While the idea of spatial audio isn’t new, Bose’s version is and it is a unique experience. While watching shows on any devices with the spatial audio turned on, the earbuds certainly created a better soundstage like having a dedicated theater system around. That said, most people probably won’t be using this feature too much, especially for standard music and podcasts when on the go. Speaking of on the go, Bose is renowned for its industry-leading noise-canceling technology, and the QuietComfort Ultra earbuds continue this tradition. The ANC on these earbuds is highly effective, providing an exceptional level of isolation from external noises. Whether you're in a bustling city or a noisy commute, the ANC ensures that you can enjoy your music or calls without interference. For me, this is the best of the best, and if you’re after the most isolation from the outside world these deliver. True to Bose's reputation, the sound quality on the QuietComfort Ultra earbuds is excellent. The audio is well-balanced, with clear highs, rich mids, and deep, punchy bass. Their profile is generally a bit warmer than clinical sounding higher end earbuds, but that delivers a solid profile that is good for everything. The build quality of the QuietComfort Ultra earbuds is exceptional. The use of metal accents that the Ultra gets not only adds a touch of premium aesthetics but also contributes to the durability of the earbuds. The materials used in construction instill confidence in the product's longevity. The case also feels upgraded from last year’s QCII. Wearing earbuds for extended periods is a common concern, but the QuietComfort Ultra earbuds address this with a design that prioritizes comfort. The earbuds fit snugly and securely in the ears, making them suitable for prolonged use without causing discomfort. They’re some of the most comfortable around, as was the case for the QCII. So, for me that’s the end of the good, and as you can probably deduce most of what I mentioned was fairly identical to the QCII. That said, here are the things you need to know about the “updated” QC Ultras. One notable drawback is (still) the absence of a wireless charging case in the standard package. If you want or need this feature you will need to purchase a separate wireless case for an additional $50. In this day and age, this seems absurd at the $300 price point, especially when it was a major complaint about the QCIIs. Despite Bluetooth advancements, the connectivity of the QuietComfort Ultra earbuds remains a concern, reminiscent of the QuietComfort II. Just like my QCIIs, I have intermittent connection issues, problems when using a single earbud at a time, making them not feel so premium. I also think this is quite ironic considering these are premium earbuds, yet others at much lower price points have figured out connection on the software side of things. With a battery life of 5.5 hours, from my usage, the QuietComfort Ultra earbuds fall short compared to some competitors offering longer usage times on a single charge. This is also zero improvement from the QCIIs which seems like an oversight. One of the biggest shortcomings, though, is the lack of multipoint connectivity. I’ve grown accustomed to this feature on other wireless earbuds, and Bose still won’t offer it. It has been mentioned as a potential addition for future software updates, but the company also said that about the QCII and here we are a year later with no update in sight. The QuietComfort Ultra earbuds, while offering a few improvements, may not present a compelling reason for existing owners of the QuietComfort II to upgrade. For me personally, it’s hard to even think about using the Ultra vs the QCII as my pair of QCII has already been implemented across all of my devices. Moveover, the same issues that I dislike about the QCIIs are still present. All that said, the QuietComfort Ultra earbuds deliver an exceptional audio experience with top-notch noise cancellation, impressive spatial audio, and a premium build. However, the lack of certain features like a wireless charging case out of the box and persistent connectivity issues may make me not recommend these to most people, unless you can live without the features mentioned above.

      Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your thoughts on the QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds. It's great to hear you were a fan of various aspects of the buds. Spatial Audio is a fantastic new addition to the product, which certainly adds a new dimension to the listening experience. It's exciting to also hear of your continued enthusiasm for our Active Noise Cancellation technology and sound quality of the buds.

It's disappointing to learn you had experienced issues with intermittent disconnections. That certainly isn't expected behavior of the product and not something that should be of concern during use. To mitigate that, I recommend factory resetting the buds, then establish a new connection. This renews the connection and should remove the possibility of bugs. See instructions here: https://bose.life/qcufr.

You can expect an average of up to 6 hours of playback on one charge of the buds, but the inclusion of the charging case gives you an additional 3 charges totalling 24 hours of playback overall! The great news is to fully charge the buds in the case takes only 1 hour, and if you're eager to get back to listening, you can get 2 hours playback from a quick 20 minutes charge.

Thanks again for your feedback, and thanks for giving the QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds a try.

I'm not sure what's happened to Bose but these were very very disappointing. Sound quality was extremely thin... Absolutely no richness at all. And, yes, I used the rather minimal EQ options to try to resolve this but no luck. Call quality. Ugh. I have a pair of QC35 headphones that are truly terrible to use during a call. Apparently, they used the same microphone in these buds. The person on the other end of the call couldn't understand me and plenty of skipped words. I returned these and went with the Sony XM5's and couldn't be happier.

      Hi Frederick,

Your feedback is incredible important to us, and we appreciate you taking the time to write about your experience.

I'm sorry to hear you found the sound quality to be thin and lacking richness. This isn't what we would expect from the product and after using them myself, I'd certainly not describe them in this manner. Using the correct eartips and stability bands is incredibly important not only for fit and comfort, but also to ensure you're getting the best sound quality. Having the wrong size tips attached can be massively attributed to the earbud's tone.

I appreciate you've returned the buds and gone for another product, but if you ever purchase a Bose product and experience unexpected behavior or performance, please get in touch with our support team via https://bose.life/3ET4mCs. It may be something that can be resolved with basic troubleshooting.

      Hi Bella,

We appreciate you taking the time to leave your feedback! Not being able to hear the other person during a call can be incredibly annoying and I'm sorry to hear you've experienced that with our QC Ultra Earbuds! That shouldn't be happening and we'd love to investigate why that could be happening.

You mentioned the volume was all the way up; some smartphones have variable volumes so on-earbud controls can work independently of the smartphone's volume. The next time you use the buds, can you check the volume is up on both the phone and the buds? If you're using an Android phone, there may be multiple volume sliders with one called "Call Volume" that may need to be increased.

If you're still having problems, we're here and happy to help! Head to https://bose.life/3ET4mCs for contact details.

The Bose QC Ultra earbuds are overall, a solid pair of earbuds with superb sound quality, incredible noise cancelation, and long term comfort while in ear. However, there are a few quirks that knock off a star on these earbuds which I will get into later. Let's start off with the positives of these earbuds. PROS: The sound quality is quite impressive on these earbuds. They deliver a large soundscape that would be similar to an over the head pair of headphones with exceptional clarity in the mids and highs and a surprisingly deep and boomy bass. Compared to my Airpods Pro 2, the sound quality is definitely better. The app allows you to customize the EQ to your liking, although it does not allow you to control more than three "Frequency" (ranges). Low, mid, and high are your only options, which is fine, but for audophiles, they might want to control more specific frequencies. The earbuds are actually pretty comfortable. I do have an issue with the right ear not sealing as well, but after adjusting some of the extra rubber pieces, I was able to fix this issue. I wore them on a flight for 7 hours without issue. My ear was slightly sore, but not too bad. The noise cancellation on them during the flight was superb, I made a custom mode to set the noise cancellation to max, and I could not hear anything, way better ANC than any earbuds I have ever used. CONS - As many others have mentioned, no multipoint connections. What this means, is you can only connect to one device at a time and cannot seamlessly switch between say your phone and your laptop, which is insane to think this is not a feature for such a premium product with a premium price point. - No wireless charging!? This was a devastating thing to learn, it is 2023, the tech exists in so many products, why was this not included? Yeah yeah you can buy a case SEPARATE but that is just not a good business model that will make customers happy. - These can be a little buggy at times when you first put the buds in. Many times I have had to take the buds out of my ear, back in the case, and then back out to get them to properly sync together. Sometimes only 1 pod connects, or the other pod will take a minute to sync. Pretty annoying, but I am confident that a future firmware update will fix this. - Spatial sound... I just do not like how it was implemented. The "fixed" mode is anything but. When you say "fixed" one would assume that head movement would not impact the spatial stereo effect, but nope, you move your head 1cm, the sound shifts. I expect this on movement mode, but NOT fixed. Take note from Apple Bose... Apple perfected the spatial sound technology, I much prefer that to Bose's take, it has some work that needs to be done on it to make it comparable. Sound quality changes dramatically, and for the worse. Overall, these are a great pair of earbuds. If you already have some high end earpods like airpod pro 2, honestly, stick with them unless you are an extreme audophile.

These will not charge. Period. Right earbud is always at zero percent and left never makes it above 60 percent. Bose recommends ensuring the ear fins are lined up exactly (they are), but if the onus is on the consumer to make micro-adjustments to the product every time they are used, it’s just poor engineering.
