Really good noise cancellation, worked grgeat on several 8+ hour flights and sounds great for casual listening too. Battery life is long and headphones are very lightweight so they don’t get uncomfortable.

Silence Outside Music Inside and Somehow Both Feel

First thing you notice is the noise cancelling. It’s kind of wild. The moment you put them on the world just fades out like someone hit mute on reality. Bose has always been strong here and yeah this still feels top tier. But what really got me was how they handle music. The sound is smooth, slightly warm, and super easy to listen to for hours. Nothing feels harsh or fatiguing. Bass is present but not overdone, mids are clean, vocals sit nicely, and everything just feels… polished. There’s also this immersive audio mode which kind of pushes the sound slightly in front of you instead of inside your head. It’s a bit of a “huh that’s cool” moment at first, and then you start enjoying how spacious everything feels. Comfort is honestly ridiculous. You forget you’re wearing them after a while. Soft cushions, not too clampy, and no hotspots even after long sessions. Battery life has been solid too, easily getting through long listening sessions without worrying. Only small nitpick, the controls and app can feel a bit finicky at times, but nothing that ruins the experience. Overall this feels like one of those sit back close your eyes and just enjoy your music kind of headphones. Once you get used to that quiet bubble and smooth sound, it’s hard to go back.

I bought this and Apple Airpod Pro Max to compare. Bose one is more Light weight and comfortable for wearing long period of time. Both sound quality are pretty good to me so I just picked the one is less expensive with similar experience. Also love the sand color that gives some character but not too pop out :)

    Sublime

Sublime. Truly sublime. I bought these headphones on a whim, but having experienced much of the QuietComfort line, I had high hopes and these do not disappoint. The lightest pair they’ve ever made, the best ear clearance I’ve ever felt, and my ears stay cool and comfortable. The noise cancellation is, as expected, bested only by what Apple will come out with in their next AirPods Max II headphones. The ambient sound is seamless and provides clear audio of your surroundings if you need it. The sound quality is Bose: great mids and decent lows with clean but not overwhelming highs. The app to control the headphones is also pretty easy to get the hang of. Do be careful pairing on the airplane as it’s easy for someone to pick up the signal and pair by accident. The power on button takes awhile. As in, you need to hold it down in order for the headphones to turn on. I prefer a switch, but it’s not a dealbreaker. All in, would buy again, even though they are expensive. If you know the serenity you feel when you isolate yourself from the rest of the world, this is the pair to get. Now, with added lightness, I almost want to wear them all the time.

The best headphones as of 2024

I spent a ton of time (literally weeks) reading, learning and watching every single review of all headphones available early in early 2024. I found that every single review at least ranked these headphones as one of the best if not the best. I felt 100% certain that they are at least one of the best, but as I continue to read longer, I felt that they they are actually the best. I first bought the XM4, then returned them. Then bought the XM5 and while I liked them, I really wanted to try these headphones. I ordered the B&W 7s and noise cancelation was not different, and around the same time I finally got these Bose. 2 days as I was testing them, I never came back to the other two headphones I have. I am obsessed with headphones, and now this bose headphones are the only one I use. It’s sad that you really need to try different headphones to develop a sense of which one is best, and am glad I finally tried those and the decision was easy. Those are way much comfortable to wear than all other options, sound quality is INSANE… the the BEST aspect is the noise cancelation as well as the transperance mode. Phenominal headphones am so happy with my purchase.

    Unacceptable connection/power issues

These headphones constantly disconnect or power down when I don't have any media running, even though I have disabled all auto off settings. I wish I had decided to return before it was too late. If you are actively listening to media, constantly, they work OK. Pros: ANC is nice. They are cute. Cons: Connection issues are extremely annoying - headphones disconnect from phone and ANC turns off after a period of time when media is not being played, regardless of settings. Hinge feels a bit flimsy and catches my hair when I am removing the headphones, which I have to do multiple times a day in order to troubleshoot the connection issue. Controls are annoying - power button doesn't work in a consistent way (sometimes I have to hold it down to cause power to come back, sometimes a single tap works).

These headphones are great and I love that they are noise cancelling. I have a smaller head and this was the only brand that actually seemed to fit ok (though still a tad large). I’m less crazy about needing my phone to adjust some settings. I most need to switch between transparent and noise canceling while at work, but if I choose that setting for the headphones, then I need my phone to switch other settings. I have no connection issues with my iPhone, and the battery lasts forever. Overall I’m happy with the purchase, and only took a point off because of the sizing and settings options mentioned above.

This is a great pair of cans. Maybe not the top of the audiophile ladder, but great for travel and working, if you don’t get too sweaty. They connect fairly well, but will become disconnected fairly quickly.

Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra Headphones Do The Job!

I love my Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra Headphones. I wore them on a five-hour flight, and they isolated me from the aircraft's noise, whereas the open earphones couldn't be heard. They are comfortable, and the charge lasts a long time. I have done a lot of research, and Bose was the best fit for me. The Best Buy salesmen weren't helpful when making this purchase. The cashier duped me into reopening a Best Buy credit card by saying that there was a $50 credit toward the purchase. He just didn't mean this purchase.

Tested these out on my vacation starting on the airplane for 3 hours and noise cancellation was excellent. Battery has never run out. Super comfortable fit too. I like the new beige color so may get another and give this one to my daughter. Great buy! Love Bose!

At 52, I’ve spent a lifetime appreciating sound — from the hiss of cassette tapes to the clean clarity of CDs, and now to lossless digital audio. Over the years, I’ve tried countless pairs of headphones chasing that perfect mix of comfort, quality, and quiet. With the Bose QuietComfort Ultra, I believe I’ve finally found it. Right away, the design speaks to the kind of craftsmanship that feels built to last. They’re solid but light, refined but not flashy. Slipping them on is like shutting the door to the outside world — in the best way. The cushioning is second to none. Even during long flights or extended listening sessions at home, they never feel fatiguing. The real magic, though, is in the noise cancellation. I’ve used plenty of “noise-canceling” headphones over the years, but none touch this level of performance. Whether I’m blocking out the hum of the world or just trying to enjoy a quiet moment, these headphones create a peaceful, private space for my music, audiobooks, or podcasts. And then there’s the sound — rich, balanced, and full-bodied. Bass hits without being muddy, mids are clean, and highs are crisp without being harsh. It doesn’t matter if I’m listening to classic rock, jazz, or orchestral film scores — the QuietComfort Ultras present each note with precision and warmth that takes me back to when I first fell in love with music. The wireless connection is rock solid, pairing easily with my phone and other devices. Battery life is excellent, and the touch controls are easy to use without being gimmicky. For someone who values tradition but embraces what technology can offer, these headphones strike the perfect balance. They’re not overhyped or overdesigned — just expertly built with purpose, passion, and performance in mind. Verdict: The Bose QuietComfort Ultra delivers exactly what the name promises — quiet, comfort, and ultra-premium sound. For those of us who’ve listened across the decades, these headphones prove that great sound never goes out of style.

I got these specifically for the noise canceling feature. I am going on a long flight to Europe and needed something to block out the plane background noise. I’ve tested them at home with the tv and can’t hear anyone talking right next to me. I’ve always trusted Bose and have not been disappointed so far

I am thoroughly impressed with these Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones. The immersive audio is truly remarkable, creating a rich and detailed listening experience. The noise cancellation is simply amazing and effectively blocks out all surrounding distractions, making them perfect for travel, work, or just relaxing. To top it all off, the battery life is excellent and reliable. I highly recommend these headphones!

    Better than Beats

To me the sound quality on these are better than Beats. The soundstage seems clearer and crisper. I also like the fact that the Bose app has a customizable EQ whereas you’re stuck with the preset ones on your iPhone for the Beats. The noise cancellation on these is excellent. A single charge lasts a few days while using immersive audio and lasts even longer if I switch to aware (no noise canceling). Some people have indicated Bluetooth connection drops on iPhone but I haven’t had any problems — they stayed connected for an entire east coast to west coast flight. I generally don’t use over ear headphones for phone or video calls so I can’t comment on call quality.
