The sound quality is as expected from a Bose product. Unfortunately, on two separate occasions, while in flight, the headphones put out a deafening crackling noise that seemed to sync with the engine power fluctuations of the plane. I literally ripped them off my ears due to the incredibly loud crackling in the headset.

Excessively noisy environments, e.g. planes taking off, can overwhelm the external mics, causing the headphones to crackle or distort. This can happen in both Quiet and Aware mode. Unfortunately the bluetooth signal isn't consistent and will drop audio randomly (I have an iPhone 13 Pro and it continues to have issues)
