Intuitive Controls, Sounds Great!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was pleasantly surprised by the Bose Quiet Comfort Noise Cancelling headphones. Maybe not for the reasons you think, but let’s talk about that. I work from home and spend a majority of my working hours on calls or in meetings. I wear over the ear headphones most of the day to facilitate those calls. What’s important is that when I’m off the call, I also listen to music to do actual work. This is where Bose comes in with their offerings of this noise cancelling over the ear headphones. These headphones are folding headphones which fit very compactly in it’s rigid carrying case. The soft leather and plushy makeup of the headphone cushions help seal around your ears while also being breathable to the skin for longer wear sessions. The clamp pressure on my head I find is reasonable and keeps them from moving around with normal use. The same material and plush is also on the head rest and go mostly unnoticed, although I currently have a lot of hair helping it out, still very comfortable. I’m surprised at how much I actually missed having buttons that are easily identifiable and placed intuitively so you can quickly find and do the thing you want to do. On the right earcup is where you’ll find most of the action. Volume up, volume down, and a center button that does the play, pause, back, skip functions with single, double, and triple presses. You can push and hold to get your phones voice assistant as well. There’s a power switch on the outside of the cup which also acts as a pairing switch. On the left is your noise canceling toggle and a long press will give you battery life via a voice feedback. All of these are very easy to find as your finger naturally falls into the ridge that runs from front to back where the headband connects to the ear cuffs. It’s also comforting not to be overwhelmed with similar feel buttons that you have to memorize or through trial and error, hit the ones a few times before you find the right one. The sound is fantastic. I like to preface that I’m not an audiophile but do enjoy music while I’m working, exercising, or doing house work. I prefer headphones that favor a heavier bass sound while still coming in crisp at higher volumes. I was not disappointed in the volume or quality of sound. At higher volumes the sound stage comes across loud and clear, you get the deep rumble of the bass while other instrumentals are balanced behind it. It helps me to find my sound preference by having an EQ on the Bose Music app. While you’re not spoiled for choice, there are a few presets you can select to increase or decrease Bass and Treble. The only downside is you’re only given 3 sliders to adjust the sound. This is probably good for most but I’d at least like to have the option to do more fine tuning. Noise Canceling works well. I’ve compared them to a few other noise canceling devices and it seems to be on-par with those. Over the ear headphones, because of things like glasses, hair, head shape and size, can be very subjective because those things affect the amount of ambient sound that make it to the ear. The soft plushy ear cushions help but they’re not perfect and that’s ok. The headphones work great to drown out the cat’s water fountain, the hum of the refrigerator, and other noises your home makes without you knowing it to provide nearly perfect silence. You do get some of the pressure that is felt from noise canceling, I did notice that it seemed a bit more prominent in that department but not uncomfortable. What it does well is the aware setting which allows sound around you to feel more natural and not muffled as if you’re wearing headphones. The ear cuffs each have two grill cutouts which I would assume house the microphones that make all of this possible and blend in nicely with the headphone design. The Bose Music app aside from an EQ also allows control of all kinds of other features. You can use the app to change from quiet to aware modes. Also, because these support multi-point connection, you can toggle between your paired devices manually (they do this automatically, depending on which device is playing music). You can also toggle the shortcut button to use functions of Spotify instead of switching noise canceling modes. Then there’s other settings which allow you to control auto-power off timer, firmware update, toggling voice prompts, how much of your self you can hear in a call, as well as other options and support. As for build quality, there’s a lot of plastic on these which is necessary to provide lightweight comfort, but there’s metal where it counts. The headband appears to be reinforced with metal and the main hinges for folding the headphones are metal as well. The plastic doesn’t feel cheap or flimsy and I would imagine it would live up to some abuse. My final thoughts: The included case is small enough to easily throw into a carry on bag or backpack. It has an inside pocket for storing cables and the inner lining is soft. The included headphone cable matches the color of the headphones which is a nice touch. I did find that I couldn’t charge and play music at the same time which seems like an easy enough thing to do but a lot of headphones, for what I can only assume is technical reasons, don’t do this. These headphones look great, sound great, offer good noise canceling, intuitive controls. Easy to recommend.

New favorite go-to headphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I found my new favorite work/everyday headphones! As someone who WFH and lives with others, I usually have headphones on 80% of the workday. This means lightweight, comfortable, and noise-canceling headphones with a good mic are a huge must. My previous headphones did the job well, the only thing that bothered me the most was how heavy they were. The QuietComfort Wireless Noise Cancelling Over-the-Ear Headphones did the trick and quickly became my favorite. Pros: - Super comfortable, plush, and lightweight, makes me forget that they're on even after hours of use - Multi-device use and tells me which device(s) it's connected to - Noise-canceling (especially helpful if you live in the city), sometimes I forget that there's other noise around me - Sound is clear and well-balanced - Battery life - USB-C for fast charging - Bose Music App for more control - Shortcut feature - switch between hearing the battery level or shuffling Spotify - Modes: quiet, aware, focus, commute Cons: - It doesn't automatically turn off when not in use (drains battery, you'll have to remember to turn it off) - No button to skip music or go back Nit-picky things: - Wished the case matched the white headphones After a week of using it for several hours a day, I can confidently say that Bose did a pretty good job with the new QuietComfort headphones and would highly recommend it.

Not worth it

An Audiophiles delight!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used many over the ear headphones in my life, but none are as comfortable, sleek and sound as good as this Bose QuitComfort Wireless Noise Cancelling Over-the-Ear Headphones. The sheer quality of these headphones is a precise reason as to why Sony is a dominant player in the world of sound. The packaging: Really well done and premium box. Inside houses a really nice travel case with the headphones inside as well as a USB-C charger. The Travel case is really well made and will protect the headphones while traveling in a bag. The Headphones: The construction of the Bose QuitComfort Wireless Noise Canceling Over-The-Ear-Headphones is beyond premium. The cups might be the most comfortable ear cups I have ever used. For long wear (flight for 3+ hours) I didn't have discomfort at all and these were unbelievably comfortable. The noise canceling feature works like a charm as well. The sound quality with these is exceptional and I am extremely pleased with it. While using the Bose Music companion app the headphones are able to be tailored to your preferences. The headphones last endlessly for hours and have replaced my airpods. I am really happy to have these and I highly recommend them. These might be the best headphones that I have ever used.

Posted .Hello Nick,
I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing intermittent audio with your QuietComfort headphones.
If the issue often occurs, please try to reset your headphones following these steps:
1. Connect the small end of the USB cable into the USB-C port on the left earcup.
2. Slide the Power/Bluetooth switch to the right. At the same time, connect the other end into a USB-A power source such as a computer or wall charger. When the reset is complete, the status light glows according to the current charge level.

They’re amazing!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a few pair of headphones and like over the ear headphones for the gym and flying. The noise cancellation is fantastic. The sound quality is super clear. The profile is perfect. I was debating on getting these, the Beats Studios or the CQ Ultras. I didn’t like that the Studios didn’t completely cover the ear. They kinda just sat on top. But the Studios do pack a little more punch on those low ends. There wasnt enough of a difference between these and the Ultras to justify spending so much more. If you can find these on sale, get them.

Perfect Upgrade from Previous Generations!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an upgrade for me from the Bose QC35 series. To put it bluntly, what can I say about the new QuietComfort headphones that Bose hasn’t already consistently proven? I am by no means an audiophile, but I can confirm that the audio quality is excellent. From music on my phone to 5.1 surround sound on Netflix, I’ve enjoyed every moment of listening to this headset. It has a remarkable amount of bass response even without the EQ being turned up. Fit and finish are equally on brand – the overall weight is just right, and I don’t find it exerting too much pressure between my ears (eyeglasses are still personally out for me as it messes with the seal for noise cancelling). Compared to the QC35 I will say I was truly pleased to see USB-C charging versus micro-USB. I can finally unify all my cables to the single modern standard. Noise cancelling is as expected; you can expect the drone of an airplane engine and other similar “stable” sounds to be easily filtered. Sudden sounds like doors closing are always going to be problems for noise cancelling technology, these headphones are no exception, but they do succeed in quieting it down to a reasonable level. Voices seemingly would fit into the same category as sudden sounds, and yet the QuietComfort headphones easily exceed the previous generation in silencing those noises. Sometimes my wife thinks I am ignoring her while I am wearing them, when in truth I really did not even hear her and would have been hard pressed to even know she was talking to me unless I was looking at her lips moving. I keep wanting to leave apps and firmware out of my reviews – they can be (and hopefully are) updated long after the review and it is not fair to have readers depending on functionality or shying away from products that have since improved their offerings. But here I go anyway. Cheerfully gone is the direct integration with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa accessed by holding the button on the left ear cup – it has now been relegated to a long press of the button in the middle of the right ear cup grouping of buttons. The QC35 series shoved this in your face consistently and it always felt supremely weird for me to be talking to my headphones asking for it to change tracks or whatnot. That functionality has now been replaced with either a battery annunciation or a connection to Spotify. The Spotify link is interesting – with the app opened and music paused, a long press here will resume the music (just as the middle button on the right side does). Long pressing it again will have Spotify randomly bounce to one of your saved playlists. It’s neat, but I think I’ll use it just as much as I used the assistant functionality in the previous generation of headphones. Out of the box I will note that I have heard a few stutters over Bluetooth. Nothing terrible and I’m sure the use of a wired connection (included) would solve it entirely. I had thought that it was related to the multipoint connection functionality offered but disabling it didn’t seem to have an effect. Other small complaints – to use these headphones, you need to migrate from the Bose Connect app to the Bose Music app. It is somewhat frustrating to have to install a second app by the same brand to fully realize a new set of headphones that is incompatible with the older generation, meaning you now need two apps if you have an older pair of headphones (like workout earbuds). Also, Bose has added a new string note when it turns on and off. The first time it is really cool and makes you feel like you got the value paid for these. After the second time it turns somewhat annoying. The previous generation was silent and would just start talking to you about connections when it turned on, this one seems to want to flaunt that it turned on prior to doing the connection announcement. Bose has done their best to pack a ton of functionality into this headset. Given this review picks up well into the early adopter phase in its lifecycle I have no doubt that Bose will fix these few small teething issues. Seeing the improvements from the QC35 and knowing the firmware upgrades that come with the brand, I have no issue giving this headset five stars. The only complaints I have are so minor that I can learn to live with it.

Posted .Hello Shawn,
Thank you for writing this detailed review. I am thrilled to see that you are satisfied by this upgraded version, the QuietComfort Ultra Headphones and all their new features.
Regarding the little stutters you have experienced, I would suggest performing a quick reset on your headphones, as it often helps resolving minor issues. You simply need to remove the earbuds from the Bose Music app and clear the Bluetooth list of both the earbuds and connected device.
