The QuietComfort Headphones’ noise cancellation can be adjusted to your preference through the Bose app. Please also check your settings in the app to ensure you are in “Quiet” mode rather than “Aware” mode. In “Aware” mode, the external microphones feed outside sounds into the headset, which can make other noises or the noise floor seem louder.

I would strongly advise potential buyers to reconsider this headset if comfort and long-term use are important factors.
