      Hello Nick,

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing intermittent audio with your QuietComfort headphones.

If the issue often occurs, please try to reset your headphones following these steps:
      1. Connect the small end of the USB cable into the USB-C port on the left earcup.
      2. Slide the Power/Bluetooth switch to the right. At the same time, connect the other end into a USB-A power source such as a computer or wall charger. When the reset is complete, the status light glows according to the current charge level.

    Great headphones

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

So, I’ve owned these for less than a week. But I want to go ahead and leave a review. These are awesome headphones! I work 12 hour shifts and they are really comfortable. In those 12 hours of work I have only gotten uncomfortable once, but that was my fault for not adjusting them. After adjusting them that went away. I definitely found the sweet spot. The clamp force is just right for my size head (7 1/4 approximate hat size, if I remember correctly). My ears fit well in the ear cups. Next, let’s talk about sound quality. Holy smokes they sound great! Super clear! While I did use the Bose app to make the sound to my liking (which honestly, the app itself could use improvements), I found right out of the box they sounded great. Bass is great! Treble is great! Mids are even great! And the volume is outstanding! All the cheap headphones I usually have to have the volume maxed out while I work. Not these. With these headphones 50-70 % is sufficient. 70% is almost too loud. I tried 100% and had to turn it back down. I’m not an audiophile but I can definitely distinguish instruments with these. And if the song was recorded say, to start on the right side, that’s what you get! Excellent sound! My only qualms is it only has 2 modes: quiet and aware. I personally think it needs a normal mode. That said both modes are excellent. In aware mode I can hear my surroundings. Voices are very slightly muffled but it doesn’t really matter if you pause whatever you are listening to. Quiet mode is QUIET. For real! I work around some noise and in quiet mode I can’t hear it. Now, I said qualm(s). The only other thing I would change about these headphones are just a slightly thicker padding for the ears and top of the head. They are slightly thin. But still comfortable. If I were to work at the Bose factory I’d suggest adding a few millimeters of padding to both the ear cups and top of the head. Even with that suggestion, these are still comfortable. Lastly, and this is probably my personal preference, the battery life. The last pair of cheap headphones I have had an 80 hour battery life before needing recharged. These won’t get that. (I believe these are rated at about 30-32 hours.) Still not bad. Also, the build quality seems sufficient enough. I guess time will tell on that matter. Overall, these are awesome!! If you’re looking at these headphones go ahead and buy them! Sound is phenomenal!!

    Perfect Upgrade from Previous Generations!

This is an upgrade for me from the Bose QC35 series. To put it bluntly, what can I say about the new QuietComfort headphones that Bose hasn’t already consistently proven? I am by no means an audiophile, but I can confirm that the audio quality is excellent. From music on my phone to 5.1 surround sound on Netflix, I’ve enjoyed every moment of listening to this headset. It has a remarkable amount of bass response even without the EQ being turned up. Fit and finish are equally on brand – the overall weight is just right, and I don’t find it exerting too much pressure between my ears (eyeglasses are still personally out for me as it messes with the seal for noise cancelling). Compared to the QC35 I will say I was truly pleased to see USB-C charging versus micro-USB. I can finally unify all my cables to the single modern standard. Noise cancelling is as expected; you can expect the drone of an airplane engine and other similar “stable” sounds to be easily filtered. Sudden sounds like doors closing are always going to be problems for noise cancelling technology, these headphones are no exception, but they do succeed in quieting it down to a reasonable level. Voices seemingly would fit into the same category as sudden sounds, and yet the QuietComfort headphones easily exceed the previous generation in silencing those noises. Sometimes my wife thinks I am ignoring her while I am wearing them, when in truth I really did not even hear her and would have been hard pressed to even know she was talking to me unless I was looking at her lips moving. I keep wanting to leave apps and firmware out of my reviews – they can be (and hopefully are) updated long after the review and it is not fair to have readers depending on functionality or shying away from products that have since improved their offerings. But here I go anyway. Cheerfully gone is the direct integration with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa accessed by holding the button on the left ear cup – it has now been relegated to a long press of the button in the middle of the right ear cup grouping of buttons. The QC35 series shoved this in your face consistently and it always felt supremely weird for me to be talking to my headphones asking for it to change tracks or whatnot. That functionality has now been replaced with either a battery annunciation or a connection to Spotify. The Spotify link is interesting – with the app opened and music paused, a long press here will resume the music (just as the middle button on the right side does). Long pressing it again will have Spotify randomly bounce to one of your saved playlists. It’s neat, but I think I’ll use it just as much as I used the assistant functionality in the previous generation of headphones. Out of the box I will note that I have heard a few stutters over Bluetooth. Nothing terrible and I’m sure the use of a wired connection (included) would solve it entirely. I had thought that it was related to the multipoint connection functionality offered but disabling it didn’t seem to have an effect. Other small complaints – to use these headphones, you need to migrate from the Bose Connect app to the Bose Music app. It is somewhat frustrating to have to install a second app by the same brand to fully realize a new set of headphones that is incompatible with the older generation, meaning you now need two apps if you have an older pair of headphones (like workout earbuds). Also, Bose has added a new string note when it turns on and off. The first time it is really cool and makes you feel like you got the value paid for these. After the second time it turns somewhat annoying. The previous generation was silent and would just start talking to you about connections when it turned on, this one seems to want to flaunt that it turned on prior to doing the connection announcement. Bose has done their best to pack a ton of functionality into this headset. Given this review picks up well into the early adopter phase in its lifecycle I have no doubt that Bose will fix these few small teething issues. Seeing the improvements from the QC35 and knowing the firmware upgrades that come with the brand, I have no issue giving this headset five stars. The only complaints I have are so minor that I can learn to live with it.

      Hello Shawn,

Thank you for writing this detailed review. I am thrilled to see that you are satisfied by this upgraded version, the QuietComfort Ultra Headphones and all their new features.

Regarding the little stutters you have experienced, I would suggest performing a quick reset on your headphones, as it often helps resolving minor issues. You simply need to remove the earbuds from the Bose Music app and clear the Bluetooth list of both the earbuds and connected device.

If you have any more questions or need assistance, I invite you to contact our support team: https://support.bose.com/s/get-help-landing-page?language=en_US

This is Bose's newest iteration of their active noise cancelling headphones. Moving away from the naming scheme of QCnn, these are now just called QuietComfort, so it can be a little confusing when searching for these headphones. Overall, initial impressions are great. If coming into this without any prior knowledge of previous models, these win in several categories ranging from its active noise cancellation to the overall comfort and sound of the unit. As with their previous models, these are one of the most comfortable headphones I have ever worn. The padding is soft, but not too soft that it will feel loose when wearing them. The headphones are light enough that you will not feel any fatigue from long hours of wearing them. Functionality of this headphone is simple, yet not lacking. While it does not have touch gestures like the ones from Sony, you have the buttons to control volume and play/pause. Double click to go to next, and triple to go to previous. Answer and decline phone calls with the same button using single tap or long hold. The active button allows you to disable the noise cancelling and hear outside noise in addition to activate voice assistant. This can be a little overwhelming and you will definitely forget some of the controls if you don't use these features often, but they do allow for a phone free experience. If you are coming in from previous models, then this will feel right at home. In terms of active noise cancellation, it is one of the best in class. This will essentially block all noise regarding conversation/background noise. What is most impressive is how it can make the power tools I have running at 90+ decibels sound whisper quiet. All of this was observed without music, once you add in even a little music you become completely separated from the outside world. In terms of sound, it is acceptable. Out of the box, it is a little bass heavy but not overwhelming. The trebles still come through as needed, but not as clear if listening to stuff like classical piano music. This can be compensated through their equalizer app, so not all is lost. Bluetooth connection is also seamless. You can simultaneously connect to multiple devices, and the headphones will also switch between which ever device is playing music. To conclude, these are still one of the best active noise cancelling headphones on the market. While not a significant upgrade from its previous models, it is still a great recommendation if coming in fresh. You will be hard pressed to find disappointment from these headphones.

I'm very sorry to hear of your disappointment with your QuietComfort Headphones! The poor sound and choppy connectivity you've described don't sound normal, so if resetting your headphones (see here: https://www.bose.co.uk/en_gb/support/articles/HC2563/productCodes/QC-HEADPHONEARN/article.html) doesn't help, then give your mobile device a quick reboot. If that doesn't improve the situation either, then please contact your local support team for further troubleshooting support. We'll be happy to help you! I have always been a fan of Bose speakers and headphones. I believe they are leading the way when it comes to audio. The Bose QC over the ear head phones are no exception to this. This is my first pair of Bose over the ear headphones, but I have always wanted a pair because the ones I have tried in the past felt so great on my head. Starting with the design of them. These headphones are lightweight and very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. They charge via USB-C which is convenient because it means you do not need to carry an extra proprietary charger. However, this is not to much of an issue since they have a rated battery life of 24 hours. The battery can last easily all week with moderate use on my commute to and from work. I love the case that is included with them. It is made of premium materials and has a mix of hard and soft materials to protect them inside of a bag. I also like the size of the case and how the headphones fold up so that they do not take up much space. One of the features Bose is known for is their noise canceling. I think it is on par with other flagship headphones I have used in the past. I mainly use them when commuting on the train or when I am flying on an airplane. The noise canceling makes you feel you are away from the surrounding chaos. The audio quality is very crisp and clear. The companion app allows you to change both the noise canceling and the audio settings. It even includes a pass-through mode that allows you to hear stuff in your surroundings if you would like to be more aware of what is around you. These are not my preferred method for talking on the phone, but it works as long as you are not in a noisy area. I believe these headphones are really targeted at people who want the best sound quality and noise canceling. If you are someone who travels and commutes a lot I would highly recommend them. They are even great if you work in a noise place and want to isolate the surrounding noise.
