Great Headset, Love the Quite Control

I have owned about 9 different pair of Bose headphones over the years. I have had at least 7 different types and styles. Out of all of them these are my favorite! I must admit, they are not the best sounding. But the battery is good, the blue tooth is good, the sound of music is top notch "not the best but at the top" but best of all is the quite control!, Wow, Love it!! and all in my control, I can turn off the outside or I can turn it on, where I can here what is around me. Also great for Calling from a cell, sounds good and I get good feedback on the Mic from the people I am calling. The mic is not to sensitive so it picks up everything so the person I am calling has a great experience as well. Been the best yet! Good job Bose!

    Cancels Noise not Wind

Definitely lives up to its expectations. Could not hear a single word when my music was playing. Perfect for subway rides when wanting to avoid noise. But when making a phone call the wind in the background is there.

These headphones are awesome. I have listened to music I know and heard words and music I have never heard. Sound is superb. My only issue is the neck band tends to move, however that is not a deal breaker.

    Not right for me...

I bought these and returned them. Why: They were weird to me. The necklace-band thing moves, which pulls at the headphone cords. I didn't much care for the on-off switch either (hiddent in the necklace-band). Don't get me wrong - these sounded great. If you can get over the weird necklace-band thingy then these would probably be better than fine for you.

Purchased for running, and returned them

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Purchased for running/exercise, I was tired of hearing wind noise using my current bluetooth headphones, and tried the QC20s, which made a huge difference. The QC20s were great for noise cancelling and sound, but the cord and control were frustrating to run with. So far, the QC30s have great noise cancelling technology. I do like the "option" of changing the amount of noise reduction I prefer, but will almost always keep on highest setting. After listening to a few songs that are download on my phone, I do notice a small difference in sound quality from the QC20s due to corded connection. Not a huge issue and I strongly prefer wireless. The neckband is light but was a little bulkier than I thought based on the photos. Since reading the reviews with the microphone the last few days, I immediately made a few calls using them, even though I generally do not use a bluetooth device for calling. Both of the two callers I spoke with could notice the voice quality was low, one said I sounded like I was in a tunnel (iPhone 7/iOS10.0.2). I guess it's a little disappointing considering these are top-of-the-line Bose headphones at a premium price. It seems like the headphones can be updated using the iOS App. Hopefully the voice quality issues can be addressed on the software side in the future. Not a deal breaker for me, but if you plan to use them often to make/receive calls, you might want to avoid for now. Will keep my QC15s for airplane use. Update: After a week of use, I am too frustrated with the lack of sound quality and intermittent bluetooth issues to keep a $300 product. I did contact Bose asking if they had a software update coming but were not aware. Will purchase another pair of QC20s for now, and may try these again in the future

    Great sound

Very nice Headphones. I previously had the wired "Quiet Control" headphones, they too have great sound, but after several months, the "Control "Module" malfunctioned, and I had to return them. To my surprise, Bose came out with these Wireless headphones, which I wanted, because the wired set with the Control Module didn't hold up to workouts in the gym. What a really great product.

I have been waiting on this product for months, and really wanted to like it, but in the end could not and returned them to BB after less than a day (by the way, I love BB's return policy - though this is the first product I have ever returned there). The noise cancellation was pretty good and the app worked well. However, I hated the aesthetics and found that the collar moved around a lot which affected the comfort of the earbuds as well. The wind noise was worse than with my $8 pair. Even though I have been a Bose fan for years, I am extremely disappointed with Bose here, and believe they released a product before it was ready for market. They may fix the issues with the next iteration, but I am now considering other manufacturers (Beats or others) now.

Don't buy if you have a large neck.

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The sound quality of these wireless ear buds is exceptional. Having the ability to let sounds through when on a walk, then block out the world when relaxing is great. Unfortunately, the Bluetooth reception is so weak that simply turning my head will block the signal. This happens with my phone in my pocket (any pocket). I have a large neck and even though the receiver fits comfortably with room to spare, my chin will cover the end of the receiver when turning my head to the right. This causes signal loss and subsequent music skip during playback. For $300 and from Bose I expected much more. I have cheaper wireless headphones that I can walk around the house without carrying my phone and they will stay connected (up to about 50ft).

    Poor Durability

I have replaced these headsets several times because the outer rubber shell separates from the body of the unit. I'm headed to BestBuy right now to replace them again as for the second time now, the headset cuts off prematurely with a 70% charge. I would definitely recommend this to an enemy.

I really really wanted to love these

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Ive been a very very long time enthusiast of Bose products, but they have let me down with this, especially after all the excitement and minimal expectations I had for these. I have tried the soundsport, QC35 and the problems i have with these is just really kind of tragic almost. the sound quality is good when listening to music, and even hearing on your side of calls, but for those you are talking to, you have to speak really loud, or it sounds as if you are underwater is what I get most of the time. Ive tried it with NC on and off, seems i get somewhat better reception for those on the other end with it off, but even then there are issues with sound quality. That aside would have made this set worth the premium, however, the bluetooth connection has been very unstable. Just walking around the yard and bending over to pick stuff up sound will cut in and out. With my phone in my pocket only a few feet from the headset this has become so bad that i can no longer deal with it. Yeah sure an occasional skip here and there is normal, but the extended lengths of no sound, and random dropped calls during normal use of these has turned me off of them, will make go back to soundsport or simply go back to a tried and true QC20 if I decide to stay with bose, if not... well Im really sad the quality and expectations of this set has fallen so far so fast.

Thank you for being a loyal Bose customer. We wanted to provide some information to improve your overall enjoyment of the headset. The Bluetooth antenna is on the right side of the QC30 neckband (underneath the Bose logo). In some circumstances, the risk of an intermittent Bluetooth connection for Audio and Mic is higher when used on the left side of the body. The reason for this is that that the mobile device now needs to transmit the Bluetooth signal through the human body, which is sometimes referred to as cross-body block. The effects of cross-body block will be increased when using the product outdoors. When the user is outside, Bluetooth transmission is reduced for all Bluetooth products because there are no/fewer surfaces for the Bluetooth signal to reflect off of.
In addition to relocating the device, there are some other troubleshooting steps worth trying. It would be helpful to try another Bluetooth device. Press and hold the Power/Bluetooth button for 10 seconds, until you hear “Bluetooth device list cleared.” (or clearing the pairing list from within the Bose Connect app).
If the issue persists, we encourage you to contact us directly and we'll be able to help further. You can reach us at 1-800-379-2073. We are open from Mon. – Fri., 9 AM – 9 PM EST. Bose

Buy the QC 20 or QC 35 instead

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I own the QC 20 wired noise cancelling headphones for Apple and they work great. The sound quality is very good but the noise cancellation is outstanding! I bought the QC 30 when my QC 20 finally gave up the ghost after about 4 years of heavy use. The QC 30 has the same sound quality (which is good but not exceptional) but the noise cancellation (the real reason I bought these) is only marginal. Not nearly as good as the wired QC 20 or the QC 35 I tried in store (there are several levels of noise cancellation and I have made sure to put it to the max so that's not the issue). That is frustrating enough but the power button requires a firm push and my hand has to be on the band behind the button in order to provide enough force to turn it on and I have already felt the plastic buckle at the seems. I can only imagine that at some point in the near future the headphone case will crack in half and I will have to glue it back together. A slide button would work MUCH better or a more solid neck bad work work as well. My biggest complaint, though, is the quality of noise cancellation.

OK for noise cancelling, mic too sensitive

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Depending on device you connect to, you may have to turn ON the location services (which drains device battery quicker than QC30 headphone). Rubber material has detached in less than two years (always kept QC30 in its case at room environmental conditions). When talking with smart phone, people complained about background noises (microphone is too sensitive). Battery cannot be replaced so QC30 useful life is limited to its battery life.

My first set had a green light that was always on bose told me to send it in for a replacement. My new pair doesn't work after a light workout at a gym. These aren't sweat/water resistant but it's not like i was sweating heavily either. They worked and sounded great otherwise. The other issue is the 2 ends curve in towards the neck and can get uncomfortable.

    Good Sound but poor construction

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've had this model of headphones for over a year. The sound is decent, but I'm not blown away by the quality. Bass is present but again I'm not "wowed". The noise canceling works well, great for airplanes. Its nice to be able to turn it down, when I'm at work so I can hear people trying to get my attention, but I usually find that I either have it at 100% or at 0%. I think I would have preferred it to be just off or on. What really is unacceptable is that the plastic/rubber covering starts to separate from the harder plastic of the neck brace. This is my second pair, the first pair the plastic covering basically fell off completely within about 6 months. Now I've had this replacement pair for 6 months and its starting to do it again. I most likely will not be buying these headphones again when they stop working. Disappointed in Bose.

    Bose Fan Let Down

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Have my new Quietcontrol 30 headphones for about a week. I am an old school road warrior and relied on my old Bose headphones for almost 4 million miles. Well, the QC30s are the first Bose product that let me down. That would not be so bad but once I finally found a number to call, the support was at least as equally poor. My new QC30s worked great while at home but after the first charge, I saw a red flashing light and they will not recharge. I went through a convoluted Q&A Bose site to finally get a number to call ((800) 379-2073) and spoke with a support person. They started out with it must be the wrong USB cable to try a different wall plug in, etc.. No admission that the phones were bad but all something to do with the power, the connection, or whatever. Bottomline is that the "U" in USB is for Universal and I should be able to plug them in with any USB cable and they should charge. If U is not for Universal, what is the point. After we finally got passed the narrowing process, the tech's suggestion was to plug in the phones into a wall with another USB cable and leave them for an hour. I already had them plugged in for over 10 hours earlier but this was supposed to fix something. Well, not so much. Hour plus went by and now Bose support is closed. I have Bose Speakers, over ear headphones and even a set of the old Quitecomfort ear buds. They were all great but here I am on the outside of a trip with a Bose product that will not charge and support that has no idea what to do. I am taking them back to Best Buy tomorrow and probably getting a wired set. I will continue to try Bose products but this time the Quietcomfort 30s have completely let me down at the wrong time. I hope the next generation Bose Hearphones are more reliable than the QC30s. They are a great concept but I sure wished I would have had a better support experience. Better support certainly would have helped a poor product.

Was So Excited Until I Used the QC30 Headphones

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have used Bose products for many years and was super excited to get a pair of QC30s so I could "cut the wire". Sadly, I will be returning these headphones as they are plagued with issues. First, there are constant bluetooth (BT) connectivity issues. As others have mentioned, BT constantly cuts out if your phone is in your pocket. I even have BT issues (cutting in and out) when connected to my MacBook Pro sitting a foot in front of me (can't blame the body blocking signal). I understand that BT is not a perfect technology, but for $300, these should work better than they are. Don't even get me started with the BT issues when connected to an Apple Watch. Completely unusable. Secondly, the headphones do not work with Skype or Skype for Business. Calls just don't go through the headphones at all. Being a major communication app for business, the headphones just don't cut it. Thirdly, when a phone call comes in, the noise cancelling of the headphones automatically reduces considerably making external noise come pouring into the phone. I have to scramble to use the buttons or the Bose app to turn the noise cancelling back to the full level. The noise cancelling shouldn't adjust when a call comes in; or at least make it a user preference in the app. Fourth, the battery has calibration issues. It will go from 20% to shutting itself off in a few minutes. Haven't found them to last the full 10 hours as advertised. I really wanted to love these headphones. When listening to music, they work great, as I would expect from Bose. It's a shame that the headphones have so many other issues that make them unusable overall. Hopefully Bose can remedy the issues and make these headphones the best bluetooth headphones on the market. Do yourself a favor and read through the reviews before purchasing a pair.

Thank you for your review of the Bose Quietcontrol 30 headphones. They are the first wireless noise-canceling in-ear headphones from Bose and we appreciate the feedback. We are concerned to hear about the issues you are describing and would definitely like to help. They should be making a solid connection to any of your Bluetooth audio devices, including a smartphone or computer, and should work with VoIP services like Skype.

One thing that can help with the battery life is to make sure notification and keyboard sounds are turned off as those can noticeably affect battery performance. We would like to speak with you to learn more about what is going on and help you get the Bose experience you expect from the QC30 headphones. Please call us at 800-380-4831. We are here to help Monday through Friday 9am to 9pm EST and look forward to hearing from you. Bose
