not for phone calls and uncomfortably heavy

I have been using this from 2 months. The sound quality is excellent. The noise cancellation is great. However, the phone calls are pretty bad with the receivers always complaining of very poor quality. The ear buds do not retract back which is a major drawback and also the volume and noise cancellation control on the right side is bulky and folds very often causing a discomfort and falling off from ear. It leaves you less room to turn your head flexibly around. Not at all satisfied with the product, planning to return it if best buy still allows for it.

    Beware

I sold my wired Bose ear buds to buy reg wireless version. Big mistake. The noise cancelling which is the most important is not as good. I can have music on and still have a conversation along with outside noise. Not with the wired version. You hear wind noise with the slightest breeze. You have no way to plug into an airplane plug to hear music or movies. I will return them and lost money for selling my great wired ones. My mistake.

Loud crackling noise, not charging, shutting off

I hate to give a bad review and I really wanted these earphones to live up to their price. I loved the noise cancelling, and the sound was great....until it wasn't. I am on my 3rd pair in 6 months. The first one almost blew my ear off with a sudden crackling loud noise on the left side, the second one just stopped charging, and the third one almost blew my ear off again and just keeps shutting off even with a full charge. I gave it 3 tries but It just didn't work out.

    Mediocre audio, very poor microphone

The first unit I purchased was defective, and Bose customer support told me they'd been having a lot of problems with the microphones and I should exchange it. The second unit worked as it should have, except... 1) People could not consistently understand me, said I sounded as if I were speaking through a thick screen. 2) The noise isolation feature does not work well at all. Even when the earpieces were properly seated, I could easily hear other sources of sound. When compared side-by-side with my Etymotics, it was night and day. 3) With music playing and noise cancellation turned all the way up, the other sources continued to leak through. 4) Because of the way the noise-cancellation works, it does not filter out sudden noises (like a conversation or music), only continual noises (like a jet engine). Using noise cancellation in a noisy place, like an airport, is pointless. 5) With noise cancellation turned all the way up, audio sources, such as conversation, still came through, but several seconds after the original sound. It was like watching one of those old Mothra movies. 6) The incoming sound quality with music was decent, but still had that typical Bose muddle at around 100 hz. At this price point, music should at least sound as good as competing products, such as B&W or Etymotics. Overall, this would have been a disappointing purchase at $100. At $300, it's a total joke.

    Horrible Microphone

I was using these at a a busy airport and while the noise cancellation is great, the ability for someone to hear me is very poor. I received multiple complaints about the background noise. I will be returning them and exchanging for a new pair. I have heard some say that this is unfounded so maybe I received a bad pair. I think that is very unlikely, but I am willing to try and give these another chance as I love them, but background noise is a deal breaker.

Great noise cancellation - but unreliable

I've been and Bose customer for many years. Their products are expensive, but I felt the sound quality of their products was worth the additional expense. The QC 30 has great noise cancellation and great sounds quality, but after two pairs failed in the last 2.5 years, my opinion of Bose quality and my willingness to buy their products has changes. I will not buy Bose again.

      Hello Sno4fun,

I am so happy that you love the quality of the audio on our QC30 headphones. However it saddens me to hear that you have had to replace the headphones twice! This is not normal and if you speak with our customer service team I am sure that they would love to assist you.

    poor blue tooth connectivity

I bought a pair of these , dowloaded the app on my ipod, and took them on a hike. The sound was great and the lack of a wire was fabulous! Trouble was I kept losing the connection like a record skip or a CD jump. I thought I got a lemon so I returned them . The next pair was worse. So I ended up with the wired ones after all. I so wanted the wireless to work but the lose of connection made the listening experience annoying!

    Not worth the money

Quality of music superior. Noise cancelling excellent. Significant static in left speaker, especially when walking. If I sat still there was little to no static. Wires too short. Controls difficult to reach and use. Battery life was sub-par. For the money, I was expecting significantly better overall performance.

    Poor Bluetooth Connectivity

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The sound quality is what you would expect from Bose, but the bluetooth connectivity is terrible. I have several bluetooth speakers that connect to my devices with no problem, but these are horrible. They rarely pair and connect to my Samsung Smart TV while other speakers connect immediately. They connect to my MacBook Pro, but drop after awhile. I already returned one pair, this is 2nd pair in a row.

    Very Poor Call Quality

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I'm not one to write reviews, but the Bose QC30 was a huge disappointment! I paid over $300 for a premium product, only to find out that the call quality is horrible!! The calls sound great if you are the user, but if you are on the other end, the only thing you can hear is the background noise!!! I contacted Bose customer support, and they sent me a new unit... the new unit did the same thing! I'm now trying to return the product! What a huge let down!! Do not buy the Bose QC 30 if you plan to make phone calls!!

Not up to the Bose standard

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've owned 3 sets of Bose noise cancelling over-the-air headphones, and always loved them. These earphones are not in the same class, they're not even playing the same game. The noise cancelling is slim to nonexistent. Adjusting the 'noise cancelling' just changes the volume of the irritating noise generated by the earphones, but that irritating noise just adds to the background, it doesn't cancel it. The neck collar is bulky and uncomfortable, and constantly snags on a a shirt collar. Returning them after less than 1 day of use.

Don't waste you money on this product

I wasted my money don't waste yours. Best Buy was nice enough during my first 45 days to replace them twice as per suggestion from Bose support that they are bad. Now my 45 days are over and Bose has replaced them again but they still don't work as they claim. When talking on the phone people hear every bit of back ground noise nothing is blocked and I'm pretty sure it is actually being amplified by the microphones. They are not useable until Bose first admits they have a problem and second fixes the issue.

Defective - no sound from left side

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Only had a few weeks but never got sound from left ear bud. Tried connecting to different bluetooth devices, using Bose Connect phone app, and chatting with Bose Customer Support but nothing fixed the problem. Having to get a replacement, taking 7-10 business days and dealing with the hassle of boxing up and shipping product. Very disappointing considering price of product and supposed high quality, but let's get real, it's still made in China. If replacement isn't satisfactory, will return for cash back.

Crackling noise within a week of use

It worked perfect for about a week. Then it started to gives crackling noise within a week of careful use. Went to Bose website, and they recommended that the issue is probably with my app, and not their headphone. All other headphones work just fine on my app. Terrible waste of $300.

    Poor noise cancelling

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Relative to QC20 and QC35 (I have owned both), the active noise cancelling on the QC30 is an absolute letdown. As a good gauge of performance, you can take the QC30 to your local gym to see how well it is able to cancel the noise of a treadmill running next to you. Yes, it's absolutely better than a passive noise cancelling headset/earbud. But if I'm paying $300, I expect it to work better than the QC30 is able to provide.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. It's always great to hear from a loyal Bose customer. The active noise cancellation on the QC30 headphones is variable and we want to ensure, to meet the same performance as the QC20 headphones, that it is turned up to max. If that is the case and there is a discernible difference between the two, we encourage you to contact our product support team to work on a solution for you. You can reach us at 1-800-379-2073. I purchased these headphones today hoping they would live up to the normal Bose standard. It does not. I don't know if it's the Bluetooth connection or what, but the quality and volume is not the same as the wired Bose headphones. I'm not going to give up on Bose, I just think they can do better. And they should do better.

Headphones Did Not last more than 4 months

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought these to help me sleep at night and reduce outside noise. They broke within 4 months of purchase. First the Left headphone went out, then a few days later the right headphone went out, it wouldn't charge, and the power button wouldn't work. Considering these are priced in the high end range, I expect a little more build quality than that.
