Customers are saying

Customers consistently note the exceptional sound quality, ease of use, and impressive bass of the Smart Soundbar 600 with Dolby Atmos and Voice Assistant. Many appreciate its convenient size and straightforward setup process, although some experienced connectivity issues and found the price to be somewhat high. The user experience with the app and remote control also received mixed feedback. While some praised the sleek design, others found the remote control less intuitive and the app somewhat problematic.

when we first plugged in this soundbar we were getting audio over arc and we looked like we were in for smooth sailing. this was far from the case. after performing an update in the bose music app we were unable to get any audio, and no amount of factory resetting or source switching ever fixed it. i'm returning this product as soon as i can and you should avoid it like the plague.

      Hello Robert,

It's great that you found the initial setup of the Soundbar easy. Your experience after with the audio is unexpected. I understand that you've returned it, but should you decide to change your mind and try the Soundbar again. I'd recommend checking that the Soundbar is on the correct CEC setting. You can find a guide here https://bose.life/3Oz7Kah on how to adjust the settings and what they mean.

Audio technology continues to get better and better, and the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 capitalizes on the latest features. It was astonishing to experience the quality of the audio produced by this relatively small soundbar. The 600 has side, upward, and forward facing speakers. They somehow combine to bounce sound in a way that makes it appear to surround you, rather than simply coming directly from the soundbar speakers. The audio directed upward ricochets and gives a sense of height as needed. Bose talks about the speakers Dolby Atmos, and True Space technologies, and the soundbar's "up mixing" ability for audio sources without Dolby Atmos. I can only say it works beautifully. A great soundbar truly enhances music and audio of all types, but the 600 goes step further with a feature where clarity of voice is enhanced by a simple mouse click. This voice clarifier feature, along with others all reside in the Bose Music app. That is where volume may be controlled using your finger to slide the volume slider anywhere from barely audible to rocking the room. Base and treble, Center Channel and Height Channel may be adjusted. The soundbar also excepts voice commands via Amazon Alexa (built in mic), and via the Google Assistant app. The Bose Music app also permits groups to be created so that other Bose speakers may be merged to enhance base, or just to be able to disperse and control the other speakers. I own a Bose Soundlink Revolve II portable speaker -- that fit right in and connected via bluetooth. The 600 app connects using your Wi Fi, and is straightforward. Though the 600 comes with a remote which has buttons to connect w bluetooth, your TV, control volume, mute -- the Bose Music app on your smart phone or tablet (I used my iPad) -- is the way to go. Note: When I initially tried to set up the 600 with the oldest TV I own, it would not work. I called Bose Tech Support and discovered that neither of my 2 HDMI slots was HDMI ARC or eARC. All newer sets seem to have HDMI ARC, but it is something that you need to be aware of. I then went to my new 65" TV and voila. Tech support explained that even without an ARC HDMI input, if the set an Optical Input slot, the 600 came with an Optical cable and that could be used in lieu of HDMI ARC. BTW: Tech support was superb. I phoned and was told that I was 14 in the queue, and that I could leave my number and would be called when my name reached the top of the queue. It took 15 minutes and Bose Tech support was assisting me with the HDMI vs HDMI ARC problem. Quality sound, state of the art features, excellent software and superb service -- I enthusiastically recommend the Bose Smart Soundbar 600.

Not at all happy with this purchase. It only works half of the time, the unit doesn’t have any feedback indicating that it is on or off, the phone app indicates that the unit is on when it is not. I had much higher expectations from a Bose product and I am profoundly disappointed with it. Only gave it one star because zero stars is not an option.

Bose600 Power comes in small Packages

Meet the New Bose Smart Soundbar600. Bose Now offers a compact But powerful Sound Bar In their Awsome Smart Bar lineup with all the features in a small package. Its priced right it's small and beautiful and listen to these features! it includes Dolby Atmos Bose Own exclusive TrueSpace technology. It has Bose Voice4Video. It features 5 speakers that include Upward-firing and low-profile transducers. The 600 has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, Spotify & Chromecast built-in. With Amazon Alexa built-in you get Your Favorite Ai. Or Pair with Bose Bluetooth speakers or headphones using Bose SimpleSync. Connect to your TV via HDMI™ eARC/ARC or the optical audio connection (yes cables are included in box) also you get a small Remote control included. To get the best experience I recommend using the Bose music app. When I took the 600 out of the box I was immediately impressed. It's premium metal grill and plastic shell looks gorgeous. If you're one who doesn't like the reflection that glass tops can give? The the 600 is a perfect solution no reflection but still looks great. Hook up was simple. I have a tv with Earc and DolbyAtmos so Atmos format movies here we come. I decided that I wanted the Bose bass 700 and rear Bose omnijewel700 speakers to go along with my 600. These are add ons you can buy from bose. This is not a must as the bar sounds great on its own. But let's be honest if you want to maximize your surround sound experience a bass module and rears will take this system to the next level. I immediately put the bar to the test playing music and different formats. Blown away is how i feel its truly amazing for the size and low cost it punches way above its weight. Dialog is a very important part of my needs in a bar. You can't beat bose on this one loud crisp and clear. In fact each of the 5 speakers in the 600 shine. One center channel crisp clear dialog. Then Two upfiring atmos speakers put out some serious sound. The 2 side firing speakers one on each side give you a awesome wide sound stage. Makes this perfect for a small or medium size room gives you great sounding quality that will definitely make a statement. My family loves Bose and now we have another Great Bose soundbar that we highly recommend. If you don't have a atmos able tv that is ok it still sounds outstanding in all formats. This is a product anyone can truly enjoy!

Honestly I had great hopes but this is worthless at this point. The lip sync with my Cox cable is so bad it is painful to watch anything. I've tried adjusting it on the soundbar and the tv and nothing helps. It needs a negative delay instead of just in positive 10s. I wish I could return this and not be out my Christmas bonus.

    Sounds bigger than it looks

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

After purchasing a LG C2 in May 2023, it was determined that the TV speakers would not be adequate for long-term use. I had initially written off Bose soundbars based on negative reviews, despite happily enjoying a Bose CineMate 2.1 system since 2005. However, after conducting additional research, I was prepared to try the Bose 600, which I purchased directly from the manufacturer in August 2023 while on sale for $399. Before the Bose, we tested the Sonos Arc, paired with Ikea Symfonisk rear surrounds – unfortunately, that setup did not sound all that impressive for its cost. Next, we auditioned the Sonos Beam Gen 2 + Sonos Sub Mini, which did improve upon the TV speakers, but ultimately failed to deliver a satisfying listening experience for the price. Here are some observations on the Bose 600’s features and user experience: Initial Setup: Some reviewers have complained about needing to install the Bose Music app on their phone to setup the Bose 600. As with any device that utilizes a Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth connection, the requirement of a smartphone and installed app for full product functionality is expected and acceptable. A firmware update is required during setup – be advised that the update process may take longer than expected (15 to 30 minutes), so please be patient (a trait that many reviewers seem to lack). Our network speed is 200 Mbps. TV Connection: The HDMI cord provided in the box is not compatible with all devices and may not be HDMI 2.1 compliant. Based on comments by other reviewers (specifically those experiencing issues with LG C2 connectivity), I set up the Bose 600 using a Spigen Ultra High-Speed Certified Cable and have not experienced any issues. Bose Music App: The Sonos app may be a bit more user-friendly; however, the Bose app is certainly functional and easy enough to navigate and use. In terms of audio adjustment options, the Bose enables users to modify the center channel – something which Sonos lacks. Music Streaming: Music streaming service options in the Bose Music app are very limited as compared to Sonos. However, unlike Sonos, Bose provides Bluetooth support, which more than compensates for the shortcoming in streaming options within the app. While both Bose and Sonos support Apple AirPlay, Bose also includes Chromecast. And although purely subjective, I feel that the Bose 600 beats the Sonos Beam for music listening. Dolby Atmos: Sonos states that it employs “psychoacoustic technology” within the Beam to give the impression of height when the sound source is encoded in Dolby Atmos. That’s a bit of sonic snake oil – I never got any sense of height from the Beam. The Bose 600 includes two upward firing speakers to create a height effect by bouncing sound off the ceiling. While more effective in reproducing Dolby Atmos than the Beam, the Bose 600 still only generates a hint of height – this is a common shortcoming of almost all soundbars, which can’t compete with in-ceiling speakers when playing spatial sound. TrueSpace: I was worried that this proprietary Bose feature might be a deal breaker, especially as it can’t be turned off. However, it seems to create a more expansive and immersive listening experience for most sources. I do like that the technology utilizes the height speakers even when the source isn’t Dolby Atmos. TrueSpace can be a bit hit or miss with music, with the applied technology sometimes resulting in an unintentional ‘remix’ of the original. Dialogue Clarity: With the Sonos Beam, my wife and I both found it challenging to discern dialogue, even with the Speech Enhancement feature engaged (which also adversely impacted the midrange). However, voices are always intelligible through the Bose, and Dialogue Mode further enhances clarity. Auto Shut Off: Several reviewers have complained that the Bose powers off (along with the TV) after some time if not actively in use. That’s due to the ‘Standby Timer’ feature (20 minutes), which may be easily switched off in the Bose Music app settings. Firmware Updates: After approximately three weeks, the Bose app prompted me to install a firmware update, which I started at 11:30 PM and then went to sleep, allowing the process to successfully complete without disrupting normal TV viewing time. Some reviewers have complained about updates getting “stuck” – in reality, the process can take a long time (an hour or longer), so best to conduct that activity overnight. Ecosystem: Unfortunately, this is where Bose falls short. Their subwoofers and surround speakers are overpriced, and the surrounds include AC adaptors that almost as large as the speakers. If Bose were to enable its portable Bluetooth speakers to work as rear surrounds with its soundbars (easily accomplished with existing Simplesync technology), that option would give the company an edge over competitors. Bose and Sonos both specialize in ‘lifestyle audio’ – adequate products for discerning consumers seeking attractive, functional, and wireless equipment. Neither company offers high-end hi-fi components for audiophiles. Furthermore, soundbars are somewhat flawed by design - cramming too many tiny speakers into a small box, and then heavily relying on digital trickery to create a soundstage. Expectations should be suitably adjusted when listening to any soundbar (with or without a subwoofer and surround speakers) versus a proper home theater configuration. While not a fan boy, I do appreciate the warm ‘Bose sound’ and greatly favor the Bose 600 over the Sonos Beam. The Bose 600 sounds bigger than its dimensions would suggest, reproduces dialogue with solid clarity, and generates a bit of spatial sound. It’s decent value for money on sale for $399, but perhaps not worth the full retail price of $499.

I had high hopes for this soundbar, given that it's a Bose. However, I did have some doubt considering it doesn't come with a sub-woofer. Despite this, it did sound really good. There is a good amount of bass coming through and movies did sound great. Dialog wasn't as lost as some other soundbars that I've used before, but this could be because it doesn't have a sub-woofer. With regards to the voice assistant functionality, if you've ever used an Echo before, there isn't much more to expect. A downside to this is in the options: there is a setting which you can use to turn the soundbar on and off when it senses the attached TV is turned on or off. However, this setting also means that you have to turn the speaker on separately from the TV if you want to use the voice assistant. That's a double-edged sword. I like that I can have my privacy, but it means that it's not as convenient as a traditional smart speaker when you want to try hands free functionality. Furthermore, if you are in the middle of a movie, I found that I would have to yell over it to get the assistant's attention. That's nothing new for other smart speakers, but it's ironic that this soundbar creates its own interference. Unfortunately, I think the inclusion of a voice assistant function over the inclusion of a sub-woofer kind of hurts this products overall value. The soundbar does allow for an addition of a sub-woofer or other speakers, but those have to be purchased separately. I think this is a great speaker for those in apartments that can't really use a sub-woofer, but I'd look elsewhere for others, given the price.

      Hey blackdaz,

I'm happy to hear that you're enjoying the sound quality of this soundbar!

You mentioned that you need to have the soundbar turned on in order to use Alexa. You should be able to command Alexa when the soundbar is in standby. If this is not the case, then I'd recommend resetting your soundbar by removing the power for 30 seconds. If this does not resolve the issue, please remove Alexa and re-add it. Should you still not be able to use Alexa whilst the soundbar is in standby, please do contact our customer support so that we can assist you further with this - https://www.bose.com/en_us/contact_us.html.
