Customers are saying
Customers consistently note the exceptional sound quality, ease of use, and impressive bass of the Smart Soundbar 600 with Dolby Atmos and Voice Assistant. Many appreciate its convenient size and straightforward setup process, although some experienced connectivity issues and found the price to be somewhat high. The user experience with the app and remote control also received mixed feedback. While some praised the sleek design, others found the remote control less intuitive and the app somewhat problematic.

Another Bose hit - and a great office addition
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm using mine as a computer speaker (Macbook Pro TB dock w/ optical audio) and love it. I can cast music to it from my phone, ask Alexa every random question that crosses my mind, and enjoy Dolby Atmos while streaming movies, and use the mobile app as a remote control from the next room. The soundbar is compact, but packs a loud punch just as you'd expect from a Bose product. It fits discretely under my computer monitor and has an HDMI eARC input in case you don't want to use optical-in. I haven't tested it for conference calls yet, but it has a mic array (which I discovered when I set up Alexa). The only thing I wasn't thrilled with is the clunky, cheap remote control. Dyson's remote controls (as an example of what I would've expected from a premium product) are weighted and compact. The Bose remote feels like something I'd find in a Happy Meal. It seems like a petty detail, but minor details like that matter in engineering and product design. Overall this is a great choice and a great addition to the Bose lineup.

Impressive for Movies, Music Not So Much
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.About the Smart Soundbar 600 The Smart Soundbar 600 by Bose is the latest mid-range soundbar model to be released by Bose. It offers several smart features including Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. The 600 is compatible with Air Play, Chromecast, and Android. Connections can be made via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, and it’s compatible with several audio streaming services. Unboxing The outer packaging is fairly standard. It has a nice arrangement with contents efficiently placed. The box has sturdy foam packing covering both ends of the soundbar to avoid damage during shipping. What It Comes With Contents include the soundbar, a remote, an HDMI cord, an optical cord, power cable, and instructions. Both the HDMI and optical cords are shorter length. The instructions only contained 4 steps, and left part of the installation out. There’s nothing explaining the connection of the HDMI or optical cable. The remote has limited buttons, but can share some controls (like volume) when connected through the HDMI ARC input. Setup My setup experience was terrible. I almost contacted the manufacturer because the setup had so many issues. First, I plugged it in per the instructions. There were no indications that the soundbar was turning on. The lights and sounds for the initial setup wouldn’t begin. I had to unplug it 3 times and plug it back in for it to do anything. Second, the instructions say that the light bar glows solid amber. Mine never did, and the color was always white. Third, the Soundbar 600 utilizes the Bose Music App to complete the setup. The Music App could not find the soundbar during the first several attempts. I kept trying and eventually got it to pair with the app. Fourth, it wouldn’t accept my Wi-Fi password. I typed the correct password in 3 times before it accepted it (and I verified each time to make sure that I didn’t type it in wrong). Fourth, it showed my soundbar connected to my router, but it wasn’t listed in my products in the Bose Music App. Fifth, it wouldn’t complete the product registration with Bose. After another 10+ attempts it finally decided to go through. Every step of the installation seemed to have an issue, so my experience was not pleasant. Voice Assistants The app setup for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant was not available, but is expected to be later this month. I was not able to test these features since they were not available yet. Music I started off by streaming music to the Soundbar 600, and it wasn’t impressive. There was nothing special about the playback that I heard. The overall sound was bright, too bright. The audio was clear, but it lacked mid-range and lows. I even tried a variety of music genres and it just wasn’t awe-inspiring. There are several music apps that are available to connect in the Bose Music app: Spotify, Amazon Music, Deezer, iHeart Radio, Pandora, SiriusXM, and TuneIn. Movies This is where I found the Bose Soundbar 600 to excel. Movies sound great on this. This was a huge surprise because the music audio was so bland. Movies were completely the opposite. The sound had so much depth and life to it. For movies I was connected through the HDMI ARC input on the TV. I streamed a movie through Amazon Prime and it sounded great. Things to Note Most of the time there’s no light / diode on the front of the soundbar. It was hard to tell if it was on or off when not playing audio. I found it odd that the light used for the initial setup wasn’t used for on/off. The first time I noticed this was when I tried to turn off the TV I couldn’t tell if the soundbar was still on. I hit the power button to turn it off, and it turned on the TV again because it was connected through the HDMI ARC function. A light would make the status clearer. Sound Quality – I would recommend adding a subwoofer if using for music. I would recommend a subwoofer and additional surround speakers if using for a home theater. Bose carries these as wireless options to add into your system. The 600 can be used standalone for watching TV. I was going to give the Soundbar 600 a 3 star rating until I heard it playing a movie. That bumped it up to a 4 star rating. It could certainly use a little more mid-range and some bass. I would add a subwoofer if using this for anything more than an everyday TV viewing product.

Posted .Hello, it's great to hear that you feel the Soundbar 600 has so much depth and life to it when playing movies.
We designed the soundbar to be easy to set up, so it is unusual to hear that you had difficulty getting this to work. While it sounds like you've since resolved this, it can often be worthwhile un-plugging the soundbar from power for 30 seconds to quickly re-set it. We're glad to hear that you are now up and running.
When movies, TV, and music are your passion — you don’t want to just watch. That’s why there’s Smart Soundbar 600 with Dolby Atmos and proprietary technologies for a captivating sound experience for all your entertainment. If you don't feel you are getting the best sound from the soundbar, you can easily adjust the audio settings such as bass, treble, and height from the upward-firing speaker as you note using the Bose Music app to customize your own listening experience.

Worst soundbar experience
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve gone through two of these and cannot even connect it to my TV through the eARC port. It keeps disconnecting over and over. Every step of the setup process takes very long. Yet when I plug in a Sonos, Samsung or Vizio soundbar, it works. Overall a nightmare trying to get this Bose to work

Great sound and features, but bass lacking
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got the Bose Soundbar 600 with the hope of replacing my living room soundbar and subwoofer (a JBL Cinema SB400), although going in I knew it wasn't going to be a fair, "apples to apples" test given that the JBL system has a subwoofer and the Bose does not, but then again, the suggested retail prices were very close ($499 for the Bose, $549 for the JBL). So, I am going to highlight the many features that the Bose has that the JBL does not, compare/contrast the sound, and then wrap up with my recommendation. Initial unboxing and setup: The Bose Soundbar 600 comes with everything necessary to connect it to your TV or whatever source you plan on using. Included in the box are an HDMI cable, an optical cable, a remote control, and of course the power cable. I first downloaded the Bose Music and upon launching that, it had me create an account, plug in the soundbar, and connect to my Wi-Fi network. Once that was done, it asked if I had accounts with Sirius XM, Spotify, and other music services, having me sign in to the ones I had so that there was a connection to them within the app for quick and easy streaming from those apps to the soundbar. I then connected to the TV using the ARC HDMI connection, while my JBL SB400 remained connected via optical so I could A/B them while watching/listening to various content. First impressions: The Bose Soundbar 600 packs a lot of technology in a little (2.2" high x 27.3" wide x 4.1" deep, and only 6.9 pounds) package. There are 5 speakers, 2 firing left and right, 2 firing straight up, and one firing outwards. There's a microphone that makes it Alexa/Google Assistant enabled. For such a small soundbar, the sound quality is phenomenal, even at the loudest volume. When watching TV shows/movies, I find the Dialogue Mode within the app to be a huge help; it maximizes and clarifies voices while de-emphasizing sound effects and other noise. The app is also very useful for fine tuning bass, treble, height channel, and center channel settings. The other big positive for me is the ability to change the volume with a sliding bar control, which makes it significantly faster turning the volume up and down vs. pressing the volume up/down on the remote multiple times. You can also set the volume precisely by saying "Alexa, set volume to 45" for instance, to set the volume at 45% of maximum. Speaking of the Alexa Voice Assistant, this really shines with soundbar's speakers. Alexa's voice sounds more pleasant through the Bose soundbar than my Echo Dot and Facebook Portal devices, and of course the music quality is many times better with the Bose. I ended up deactivating the Alexa feature of my portal, and relocating the Echo Dot that was in the dining room one room over from the living room, to one of the guest bedrooms. A/B Testing against soundbar with subwoofer: As I stated at the beginning of my review, I didn't expect big bass out of the Bose Soundbar 600, and when it comes to the bass heavy scenes in movies or bass heavy music, when you switch back and forth between the Bose and the JBL, the difference is stark. You can physically FEEL the bass from the JBL subwoofer, even at modest volume; while the lows are essentially missing entirely from the Bose Soundbar 600. Now, you can purchase the Bose Bass Module 500 and the soundbar will discover and work with that, and I feel confident it will match or even exceed the sound quality from my JBL subwoofer; but I'll have to save up for that. Overall, whether TV or music, the sound quality from the Bose Soundbar 600 is crisper, brighter, and simply more pleasing than the larger and heavier JBL soundbar. Conclusion: The Bose Soundbar 600 is an amazing piece of technology. While out of the box, the lows are underwhelming, Bose does sell a solution to that in the Bass Module series of products. The soundbar itself, the app, the connectivity features, and more all contribute to my enthusiastic endorsement, with a recommendation of adding a Bass Module to complete the system.

Amazing soundbar for the right price!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have purchased three sounds bars in the past and none was satisfying. I decided to give the Soundbar 600 a try after reading so many reviews and it did not disappoint. It is one of those purchases that are fulfilling, and I absolutely love the Bose quality. The setup is a breeze. The sound quality is unmatched. Especially watching news, football games, or simply kickback and listen to music. I have this installed in my home office room. The purchasing experience from Bestbuy was super easy, as usual.

Great Clear Sounds. A few frustrations though
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First and foremost, this soundbar has solved the dialogue issues we have had in our living room. With the vaulted ceilings and hardwood floors, we have always had issues being able to dialogue clearly, especially when watching shows with fast talkers and shows/movies that don’t have the best audio balancing. We’ve tried multiple sounds bars and even had one with a separate control for voices. With this new Bose soundbar 600 we can finally hear voices and dialogue clearly, especially with the dialogue mode turned on. The sound quality does not suffer at all with this on. Movies, shows, music, etc. all sound fantastic. At some point I may add a separate woofer as I would like a bit more boom. It is hard to tell if the soundbar is on. I have to change the volume with the app or remote as there is not indicator light that the soundbar is actually on. Also, I have the soundbar hooked up via HDMI eARC and have trouble with lowering on the soundbar and tv at the same time. The soundbar remote will turn on the soundbar but not the tv, but will turn off the tv. So if I power up the tv and then the soundbar, the tv turns off. If I use the tv remote to turn the tv on, the soundbar won’t turn on. So I have had to use the app to make sure the soundbar is on and working. The whole thing is a bit frustrating and shouldn’t be this difficult to get everything working together.

Posted .Hi.
Thank you for your post. Sorry to hear that you are having difficulty with the soundbar. When you power it on, there will be a white LED pulse that you can see when you are at eye level with the soundbar. The soundbar's remote control is not universal. However, it can receive IR commands from other remote controls. This is useful if you want to program a third-party universal remote to control multiple devices in your home, including your Bose system. If you have questions in the future, reach out to us here. https://bose.life/3BzXXfd. We would love to help.

Few Fatal Flaws
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound quality of this speaker is excellent but I'm surprised Bose dropped the ball on other areas of product design. These issues are so incredibly silly, have nothing to do with the audio quality, but completely ruins the experience. 1) The controller... An awfully cheap plastic little nugget. Really snaps you back to reality that this isn't a high quality device. 2) The app.. it's just not good. Fails to connect often and has very few options. My setup was a pain due to this. 3) The ANNOYING system sounds with NO option to customize or turn them off. The 'bluetooth connect confirmation noise' is so frustratingly god awful and loud. No matter what volume the speaker is set to, this sound will blast at full volume if any device connects to it. So if you have PCs or computers or ipads that randomly like to connect to it in the middle of the night after they update, be prepared for an unpleasant surprise. Bose, please just use the built in blue light indicator to tell me it's connected to a device. I don't need my eardrums blasted by this 'chime'.
