Great once you get past setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After years of wanting a Bose home theater system, I purchased this 700 in November 2018 with the subwoofer. Once open, I found you need the Bose app to setup the speakers, and you will need an update right out of the box. On initial app install, I was able to set the speakers to play sound. Ran a few sound tests with regular TV, movies, and video games. At first the sound wasn't as i expected. So I tried to go back to the Bose app for adjustments, but it was unable to find my speaker within the app. I had to unplug the soundbar and plug it back in several times in order for it to be discoverable. It was frustrating having to do this, but patience pays off. Ok, so I finally adjusted everything to my liking and WOW, the sound is awesome. I used the ADAPTIQ, which took a little longer than expected because it picks up every little sound and that interrupts the process. A little tip for the ADAPTIQ, when you are running through the process it will ask you to sit in the spots where people will be sitting. Instead of sitting/standing in the spot, i/e the couch or chair you will sit on, stand past it. This will make the sound louder since it has to travel farther. The remote control takes a little getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, it works pretty well. It is motion activated and the buttons will light up according to the function you are on. The only downside of the remote is its response time, it's a little slow. One more thing, I was one of those customers that passed on the surround speakers, but I bought those in December 2018, and they are a must have to complete the system. It sounds great.

A Nice But Not Perfect Upgrade
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was forced to purchase a new sound system for my 4K TV because my Bose Solo TV system was quickly dying after years of faithful use. I have always like Bose products and I have Bose 701 speakers that I use to watch movies so I was leaning towards getting a Bose replacement. I first listened to the Samsung HW Q90R soundbar which sounded great but lacked the room filling sound I was used to from my Bose Solo TV system. I then listened to the Bose Soundbar 700 which is their high end soundbar and was blown away by how much better it sounded. It had the room filling sound I was used to from my old system but it was much crisper and cleaner sounding. Even with the subwoofer turned off it still had better base than my old system. When I set it up there were some issues however. You have to use the Bose Music App to set it up and at first it wouldn't find the soundbar. After unplugging it and plugging it in again the app did find it. Then the app wouldn't connect to the soundbar even after several attempts. I was about to give up when it did finally find it. After that the set up went well. The app walks you through what you need to do to get the best sound including using the Adaptic headset to calibrate the soundbar to the room which made a dramatic difference. The app also lets you set the amt of bass, treble from all the speakers and the amt of sound from the center speaker and has an option to enhance the dialogue you hear which is a nice feature. Pros: great room filling sound that could replace any speakers you are using to watch movies or listen to music. Cons: A high price point that DOESN'T include the subwoofer which will set you back another $600-$700 dollars. This is my biggest complaint as Samsung and many other brands have built in subwoofers. This is nothing short of a money grab by Bose IMO. Being forced to use their music app to set up the soundbar. This should of been able to be done using the remote. All in all even with the shortcomings I still recommend this soundbar if you are able to afford it. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Looks great!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have purchased a number so soundbars in my life. All are not created equal but they are always a huge improvement over the TV built in speakers. The set up was quick using the app. It did involve a few steps and a crazy headset to calibrate the system to the room. I can tell the improved sound almost instantly. When watching a my normal shows I can hear the sound of the environment more clearly. Most of the time I did not even know that this great ambient should was in the background of the show. It looks great with a nice glass top looking finish. I don’t use Alexa so that feature is not really important to me…maybe they will add google or siri someday.

love it, but...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received the unit in a sunny afternoon. And then i opened the box and happily start setting up the unit. I followed the direction to a T... and, the unthinkable happened. It found my soundbar with the app, and everything was happy. Then it asked me to update...after 5 mins, the soundbar was blinking red. I tried restarting the unit, tried unplugging the unit and plugging it back in. I started going online to search for ways to get the soundbar out of its funk. Nothing worked. I finally gave in and called Bose support... it took them almost 45 mins to pick up the phone, and after 30 minutes of testing, the friendly chap on the line said: sorry, but you have a faulty unit. I was a bit frustrated, and placed the soundbar nicely back into its box and shipped it with the shipping label they provided me THE DAY AFTER. Thankfully the unit was back within 10 days (10 DAYS!!!! :( a bit long in my opinion) The new unit was setup without a hinch. Pros: 1) Alexa build in 2) crisp sound with great bass 3) Easy to setup (except for my faulty unit) 4) Easy to setup streaming services (pandora, spotify, etc) Cons: 1) i don't see how this is an improvement from the soundbar 300, except it seems a bit skinnier :) 2) this will cause mayhem if you have another Alexa enabled unit in the same room (i had to disable alexa on soundbar) 3) this cannot be grouped within the alexa app

Unbelievable soundbar
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received my Bose 700 soundbar and 700 bass module yesterday and had it set up within 20 minutes. Hooked it up to my Panasonic TC-P65VT50 television temporarily until my Sony 75" Z9D arrives tomorrow. Went into the HDMI (ARC) port and everything worked just fine. Then I set up the 700 bass module and the sound was truly amazing, whether playing music or movies. I have read here and on Amazon where some folks had issues setting theirs up, and for that reason didn't give the system the rating it deserves. I have an old Bose V30 surround sound system from 2007 that I compared it to. Of course I only had the 3 front speakers playing on the V30 due to not yet buying the 700 surrounds. I thought it only fair to compare apples to apples. And I was really amazed that the 700 system sounded so very close to the V30 system. Maybe a slight edge to the V30 system due to the Bose 700 system being wireless. Or maybe the V30 subwoofer from 12 years ago is just a tad better. Either way, the Bose 700 system sounded unbelievable. I can't wait until I purchase the 700 surround speakers to get the full home theater effect that I know this system is fully capable of. I was only going to use the soundbar and bass module, that is until I heard how great it sounds. Buy it, you won't regret it. GUARANTEED!

Amazing sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the 700 sound bar and surround sound speakers yesterday and so far so good. Had a few hiccups setting it up but nothing I couldn’t solve. I couldn’t hear the surround speakers too well at first and I thought it was because I didn’t wire them all the way but, I quickly found out that I could adjust the sound through the app and now everything is sounding great! I MAY buy the sub at a later date but, I’m finding out it that it’s not all that necessary because the bass on the sound bar alone is pretty good

Amazing! Until it stopped working!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I allays loved Bose quality, own a noise canceling EarPod, a portable Bluetooth speaker and a 300 portable ei-go speaker. Until I bought a 700 soundbar. I absolutely changed my perspective as a customer! Sound is amazing! Bose standards! Software is ok, but not the main feature, so acceptable. Problems started when it stopped pairing to my LG TV. I almost bought a new TV, trusting Bose quality!!! Yes! That’s how loyal I was! I called their 800 and after I was walked through a few troubleshooting steps, the diagnose was something wrong that needed in-factory repair. After a very disappointing process that required me to take the product with a pre-label to UPS, I’ve been trying to get an update, unsuccessfully! I can’t even say if my product arrived to a Bose destination, as the tracking number on the label Bose provided doesn’t work on UPS link. Bose text message system is ridiculous! After literally hours waiting (one occasion I texted them at 8pm and got a message back at 3am! Obviously didn’t respond as I was sleeping, got disconnected only to start the process and waiting over again in the morning)! All I receive back from their CSRs is “your loyalty is important to us, your case will be resolved with the highest priority” - is that so?! This review is the first step in fighting for my money… and I will never ever buy Bose again!

Words Cant Explain!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm so blown away by this soundbar it sounds so good. I have the soundbar and the sub-woofer together and they sound great. Just the soundbar itself has such good sound quality. If you are thinking about getting this soundbar you need to get it, its awesome. The remote works so seamlessly with my TV, and dvr box. It’s hard to completely explain how good this soundbar sounds. With doing the Adaptive Headset it really helps getting your room full of sound. This is a soundbar you really need to hear to believe. I would highly recommend this to anyone that I know. I love the design of the soundbar it has glass on the top and then a metal grille on the front of it. It really makes it looks sturdy. It comes with a cloth that you can use it to clean it I think that was a really nice touch.

Beauty and Brains!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I currently own the previous model: Bose Soundtouch 300, so it’s great to finally experience the Bose Soundbar 700 in my home. The basic sound quality is pretty much identical, but some splendid features have been added to the 700. I’ll try to give a good overall review. Packaging: The Soundbar 700 come nicely packed in typical Bose fashion. It has all the needed components to get everything up and running quickly. Remote Control: Beautiful and easy to operate. It lights up when movement of the remote is detected, plus the lighting pattern differs depending on the device it’s operating. The coating has a rubber-like texture and the weight gives it a quality feel. iOS/Android App: Subtle, but nice changes were made to the current Bose Music app (replacing the Bose Soundtouch app). The most notable is the ability to adjust the Bass and Treble settings for the soundbar, as well as easier switching for multiple users. Finding the adjustments required viewing of Bose’s instructional videos on YouTube, but it’s all very easy. All of the music sources from previous versions are still available. Software/Firmware Updates: Easy and hassle-free. Once everything is connected to the network, it will alert you when updates are available. Sound Quality, Set-up and Operation: The sound quality is amazing on its own; great frequency response, balance and separation. There’s a headset included for a custom room set-up and measures 5 different areas of your room for a fine-tuned sound. A separate Base module and Surround speakers are available for those wishing to build a complete system. That decision depends upon your living quarters and your bank account. :-) Alexa: This soundbar has Alexa built-in, which I honestly didn’t think would be a benefit… I was wrong! I absolutely LOVE being able to control so many of the soundbar’s features using Alexa voice commands. Also, the new light strip is beyond cool and is very informative. I especially like that there’s NO distracting indicator light on while the unit is in use. Conclusion: The Soundbar 700 is beautiful, functional and worth the money. Feel free to compare it to other products within the same price range and I think you’ll agree. Boom and Beauty! The Bose Bass Module 700 is a great option for those wanting to add more “boom” to their Soundbar 700 or Soundbar 500 system. The unit itself is relatively small, but the output is very noticeable. For those who love action films or want a deeper bottom end for their music listening pleasure, this is highly recommended.

Awesome!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace a old school surround sound setup with floor speakers and an onkyo receiver. I'm in a one bedroom condo and decided I'm tired of those huge speakers all over and I never really noticed the rear speakers much. I wasn't going to get the sub because I always have to keep base down due to neighbors below but at the encouragement of the rep in the store I bought it with the soundbar since I could only get the extra discount that way and figured if I was happy with the soundbar's bass I would return it. Well...I was happy with the sound bar's base, it's great! Yet having little discipline hooked up the 700 base module and yea...I'm keeping it. It's not loud and booming...it's just deep and smooth, even at low volume so it won't bother the neighbors. Plus an added benefit is you can easily disable it and immediately send bass back to the soundbar via the app witch is perfect for my needs! The sound is great, smooth, high quality. It's not as wide sounding as the separate speakers despite the processing they do but I can live with it for the simplicity of one unit versus 7 plus wires everywhere. Also I thought I would miss all the customization on the receiver. This Bose has no sub gain control, no sound modes, just base/treble/center channel. I must be getting old because I think I like the simplicity and love that it's adjusted from an app. Plus not having to have a separate amazon echo (which I used constantly for music anyways) is the best. Previously since having it play through my ht setup involved switching inputs and plugging in the aux connector it wasn't hands-free so I usually just listened to alexa on a little Bluetooth speaker it was paired with sitting on top of my giant ht speakers lol. Now it's my Bose for everything, handsfree to have alexa play music, and auto muting (lowering really) of any source if you have to talk to alexa. Integrated alexa is a ridiculously good idea and seems to do everything my echo did. Negatives are some slight glitches in setup that were'n't a big deal. Also while the app can put the soundbar to other sources like bose music it can not switch it back to tv which is silly but I suppose it'll be fine once I program my harmony remote. Otherwise, great solution, totally worth it!

I can hear...!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the first time in my audio listening years I can hear and at the same time feel my audio. This is absolutely the best quality reproduction of TV audio in a 5.1 configuration I've ever heard. I replaced an older Samsung that was causing intermittent problems with the New Bose Soundbar 700, the Bass Module 700 and the Surround Speakers. There is no comparison to other systems I've owned in the past with this Bose system! Now I am not as techno savvy as some, and also i have a Total Tech Package with Best Buy, so I utilized the Geek Squad subcontractor TX1Communications for the installation, and I'm very glad I did! these guys had the system up and running in no time! One issue came up during the installation. When it came time to pair the remote to the TV and Uverse receiver, the remote would not recognize them. The technicians immediately put in a call to Bose only to learn of a 6 hours wait for assistance. I in turn while they were working to get assistance went to the Bose website, to the Sound bar 700 support/technical support/Remote/Remote set up is not working to find this: "Your Bose Soundbar system will have the ability to control all of your devices from one remote, the Bose Soundbar Universal Remote. This functionality is not active yet, but will be activated during a future Soundbar firmware and Bose Music app update. We anticipate this update being available early to mid-October. Product firmware updates happen automatically in the background, and they typically install overnight. Please note, the remote will still control the soundbar itself, so you can adjust volume, switch sources, and stream music via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi." So what the techs were trying to do is not optional at the moment and won't be until Bose pushes out the update to the remote in order that it might accommodate other IR components. So I will patiently wait. Also not the Bose remote communicate with the sound bar through Bluetooth, not IR line of sight. If you have component that utilizes IR to communicate the sound bar converts the Bluetooth signal from the remote to IR and broadcasts it to the TV, DVR, etc. All in all I couldn't be more pleased with the sound reproduction from this system, it is literally worth every penny spent! I would recommend this system to a friend. And my service throughout the Geek Squad I recommend just as highly..!!! Thanks Bose, Best Buy, Geek Squad and my installing technicians!!! Will report later on future performance.
