Returning Tomorrow

Unfortunately, I'll never know since I spent almost 4 hours trying to get it to connect to my wifi network. Almost 2 hours of that time was on the phone with Bose tech support. Never got it working. Wanted me to wait 5 or so days for tier 2 tech support to contact me. I'd have to be an idiot to sit and wait that long on something I paid a lot of money for. Will be looking for a good alternative soundbar. What a shame.

I'm truly sorry your experience with the Bose Smart Soundbar 900 wasn't smooth sailing. 4 hours is a long time to invest in setting up a soundbar, and waiting days for tier 2 support is not ideal.

Switching brands

I bough this unit 6 days ago and 3 days after that, just like majority of the 1 star reviews, I too had connectivity issues. Plugged into my LG C3-55” via HDMI ARC, it seems like the unit is on but no sound out of the speakers. Before getting frustrated i opted to read reviews and tomorrow will be delivering it to back to best buy. Im thinking Sonos…. Cheers

HDMI ARC Connection Looses Signal Randomly

Switching to optical cable to get it to work properly.

Great but will not turn on with TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great sound, clear quality but when my TV turns on sometimes the bose will not turn on and stays off. I get an app error and it says something is wrong. I have to restart the bose 900 and after about 5 mins it comes on. This has happened about every day for the last month and I am returning it tomorrow. I have read its bose problem and not the TV problem and it maybe linked to software issue not sure. My app and software is up to date. I consider myself Tech knowledgeable. Since I am having to return it I am not 100 percent I want to try the same soundbar or go with another brand.

NOT Compatible with LG OLED TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Spent over an hour speaking with Bose Tech Support to get this unit to work. Constant drop outs using ARC, only way to get it back up and running is to do a hard rest by removing the power cable. Solution was to use optical cable, and loose out on Dolby Atomos. Why would I buy an Atmos soundbar if I cant use it? Details : When playing content, the sound bar will disconnect and get no audio. Its almost random but typically happens when I move from one program to another on the TV. Example Netflix to Disney+ then audio from Disney+ wont play until a hard reset. Spent an hour with support, with different troubleshooting tips, factory reset, unplug hdmi, etc etc. One solution that worked was using and optical connection. But when using the optical connection you will not be able to pass Atmos audio. The tech stated not all TV will be compatible with the soundbar. Bose should release a list of compatible TVs or say these manufactures are not supported. I asked for them to buy the unit back since im past my return window with Best Buy. They refused. Terrible since I bought their bass module and the rear speakers along with the soundbar. Out tons of money without a useable product. So buyers beware if you own a LG, Samsung or Sony TV. There are several reviews on bose website with people experiencing the issue im having with different TV manufactures.

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS SOUNDBAR

I have been through three of them in the past week and all of them have been bricked after a forced update. All I get is the left to right white light and bose support can do nothing after spending countless hours on the phone with them. All methods of the update have been tried including usb direct, Wi-Fi Direct and Ethernet direct. This thing has major software issues.

Worked great for 3 months then failed

The "red" light pops up after 3 months as an internal error manufacturing defect! It requires you to use a Bluetooth cell phone /tablet connection to control the volume and time delay settings yet it can no longer pair into Bluetooth mode!! Major screw up in design. Others had Geek Sqaud reset it and even replace it with a new one only to fail in the Exact same way as the original. I will never buy Bose again! What were they thinking?? There are to many other top quailty companies with great sounding soundbars that do not have these limitations and manufacturing problems worth buying instead of (what i thought was the Elite) Bose company. What an expensive learning lesson.

Posted .Hi, we are sorry to hear that you were unable to use your soundbar. If the Red light was small and on the left of the soundbar, this actually means the microphone is muted and is not a fault in the design, which would explain why it happened on two soundbars. You can enable the soundbar by pressing the microphone icon on the top of it which will make this light dissapear.
The soundbar required wi-fi to allow you to use it features (including the app). We have a great guide that will help you connect the soundbar back to the app! https://bose.life/3TYUChp
If you are having trouble connecting your phone via bluetooth, make sure that the led on the soundbar is blinking blue before attempting to connect. Here is a link showing what the different LED lights mean: https://bose.life/3Zzwcff

Software Issues, could not get setup

Could not get the software to update on the second unit, and also suggested to return from BOSE. A 15 minute job turned into 6 hours of wasted time.

Frustrating

Majority of my time spent is powering off and on the Bose 900 to get sound to play when switching hdmi or switching between apps Other half the time I can’t get atmos on the tv apps with tcl 8 series via eARC Ie the witcher on Netflix or any latest star wars movies on Disney + I’m burned out. I didn’t buy an atmos sound bar to watch atmos content in 5.1 because of unreliable firmware Iv spent 15 days trying to get this to work and after hours of forums, playing with settings, I’m Returning it.

Excellent sounding soundbar with fatal flaw.

We tried changing every setting and unplugging everything except LG C1 tv, sound bar and Sony blu ray player to no avail. Bose replacement soundbar did the same thing. We bought a Sonos and it works flawlessly. This is unacceptable for such an expensive item. It’s costing us thousands since we’re outside our return window.

I'm very sorry to hear you're experiencing 1 second blips and that they're occurring so frequently. That certainly shouldn't be happening with your Soundbar 900 or any other soundbars for that matter. Sound can sometimes dropout when security handshakes between devices occur to insure copyright protection etc, is adhered to, but shouldn't be cutting audio out and at this frequency or volume.
I understand you have returned the soundbar, but if you did happen to still have the unit, I'd recommend trying some different sources to see whether these dropouts occur. In addition, if the dropouts are only affecting the bass module, this could instead be attributed to nearby sources of wireless interference.
Remember, lifetime technical support is offered with Bose products, feel free to get in touch if you need a hand.

Bose 900 - A significant step down for Bose

However, the 900 soundbar has been an enormous disappointment. Upon receipt of the product, it did not work properly, and Bose replaced it. The replacement is difficult to use, and relatively poor sound quality, particularly with streamed music. My wife and I are musicians, recording artists and music producers and so, are well familiar with quality audio. I would not recommend this product.

Years after purchase, Bose write and says that the base module could burn down my home and IF I send it in, they'll give me 40% off this Soundbar. So you might want to consider a company that backs their product 100%. Take a look at Sonos. Better engineered, better sound.

A voluntary recall of bass modules manufactured before April 1, 2006 that were sold with select Acoustimass, Lifestyle and Companion home theater systems was conducted. As part of the repair, we will replace the electrical components at issue with replacement components that do not create a risk of a potential fire hazard.
