Bose and Best Buy don't stand by product
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This expensive sound bar has not worked properly since i got it. It has to be reset every week or so. Take it off the wall unplug it and put it back on the wall . After a few months I called best buy and they said call Bose who said ship it back maybe 5 or 6 weeks to return. Neither would replace the sound bar .. Now it is malfunctioning every other day. A 1700 $ piece of garbage and no help from best buy or Bose..

An Unacceptable Solution to the 900 Sound Problem
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As I have said earlier, I have had three 900 soundbars. All of them have had the same problem of periodic sound loss. I tried all of the recommended solutions from Bose. The only one that works is to unplug the soundbar to reset it, which is ridiculous and inconvenient. My most recent solution is to get a wireless remote outlet. Now when the sound goes out, I just click the bar off and on to reset it. If Bose continues to not fix the problem, they should include a remote outlet in their accessories. Unbelievable!!

I’m liking this soundbar.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Bose Smart Soundbar 900 is Bose’s first-ever soundbar model that finally brings Dolby Atmos support to their lineup of soundbars. Before I continue, however, it is important to make clear that several features and capabilities of this model, such as Bose Music app enhancements and ADAPTiQ calibration, were not readily available at the time of writing this review but should be available in late September 2021. I currently own a Sony HT-NT5 soundbar that’s been living underneath my TV for about 5 years now. It still sounds pretty good to this day, with its ability to mimic a 7.1 surround environment without having additional speakers behind you, but still giving you the option to link a pair of rear wireless satellite speakers if you wanted a more verifiable experience. Replacing that soundbar with the Bose Smart Soundbar 900 was going to be a bit of a challenge since the Sony NT5 has not one, not two, but THREE HDMI ARC ports that I spoiled myself with using… the Bose only supports one HDMI port, meaning I had to make a few tough decisions on which devices were no longer going to have a dedicated HDMI input on my HT system. Once I got that figured out, the rest of the setup process was easy to follow and understand. Keep in mind that you will need to download the Bose Music app on Apple or Android to get it properly set up and configure any of the voice assistant platforms you utilize around your home if any. This Bose soundbar model supports Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple AirPlay, and Spotify Connect. In terms of sound quality, I can say that the Bose Smart Soundbar 900 is not going to disappoint for the most part… it delivers rich sounds with crisp highs and mid-tones and while its lows are somewhat subtle, the proper balancing that the Bose DNA is known for doing can get away with not having a dedicated subwoofer attached to it. But if I’m being brutally honest here, I’ve been spoiled with having a soundbar w/ a dedicated subwoofer for years, so going from that to just a soundbar alone wasn’t exciting at first and it took me some time to adapt to not feeling the ground and the walls around me vibrate and providing an additional kick to my listening experience. That being said, Bose does offer wireless surround speakers that are compatible with this soundbar that can be paired onto and you will more than likely be able to do so should you decide to get your hands on this model. Due to the software limitations at the time of writing this review, that functionality was presently not available but is subject to change shortly. I did have some trouble getting Dolby Atmos content to properly play back with my setup when trying to play a movie off Netflix, but once I tried loading a movie from HBO Max it detected the Atmos metadata and was able to support playback right away. It did sound quite room-filling after picking up the volume a bit, but adding additional wireless surround speakers will give you the Atmos experiencing you are likely looking for. You are going for a Dolby Atmos-compatible soundbar after all, aren’t you? To conclude this review, I give the Bose Smart Soundbar 900 a high recommendation if the Bose ecosystem is what you’ve invested in your home for the last several years and/or decades and also have already existing hardware such as the surround speakers to pair onto and have been waiting for Bose to (finally) offer a Dolby Atmos solution in soundbar form. I do ask that you keep in mind that my review rating does also carry the weight of the fact that not all software functionalities were not fully enabled for testing even in a beta capacity but does not fully mean that this soundbar isn’t a solid option for your home theater solution.

A Bose with Atmos… Finally!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bose Smart Soundbar 900 I have the Soundbar 300 that I use as a computer speaker and I love it! So, when I saw this Soundbar 900, I had to get it for the big screen. Bose has always been known for creating spacious, room filling sounds with their speakers. The Soundbar 900 is the first Bose to support Dolby Atmos. Listening to it with content from Apple’s made for Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos is an amazing experience. I listened to the LA Philharmonic Orchestra, Bob Marley, Marvin Gaye and they all sounded like you were in the concert. This soundbar delivers clear vocals, crystal clear highs that Bose is usually known for and surprisingly solid low and powerful bass. The bass is powerful enough to make me think twice about adding the bass module. I watched Hunter Killer and my go to test movie Top Gun and I almost forgot that this was just a soundbar without a sub-woofer. The bass was that solid. These movies uses Atmos and sound was being projected all over the room, bouncing on the walls and ceiling. It was awesome and made me feel like re-watching some of my favorite movies. It has a feature called ADAPTiQ and you use a headset that comes with this soundbar to calibrate and fine tune the soundbar specifically to your room. It is very thin and skinny but yet it is solidly built. It has a glorious glass top and matte grille on the front and sides of the speaker. It has left and right upward firing drivers and two more on the sides. I couldn’t tell how many drivers on the front but if it is anything like the 700 series, it should have at least four. It has the bass ports in the back. It has a very minimal footprint and it looks really good on top of the entertainment center. It is also wall mountable but the mount is an optional accessory; same mount as 300 and 700 series. It is compatible with the the Bass module 500 and 700 along with the surround speakers. I use Apple devices so I am happy to say that it supports Airplay 2. It also has Google and Alexa enabled. Voice4Video lets you use your voice as a remote control for watching TV. I could not get my cable box from Spectrum to work with this but you can definitely use your voice to launch apps like ESPN or apps that are installed on your Smart TV. It has an HDMI port with eARC, ethernet, optical IN, IR, bass, data, Adaptiq. It comes with an HDMI cable and an optical cable. It has what Bose calls SimpleSync technology that will let you connect other Bose bluetooth speakers for a more spacious sound and the speakers don’t have to be in the same room, just in bluetooth range. Another awesome product from Bose. I love the sound that this soundbar produces. It is clear, smooth and balanced.

||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So very disappointed in this. We could finally afford to buy it and it lasted less than 7 months. Bought the Svc plan and it was absorbed and our money for the bar was returned. I would have rather had it repaired and not loose my svc plan so soon. Bose product issue. Best Buy plan issue.

Disappointed for sure.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought two of these. Both had the same problem. Problem was a red light that appeared a month later that would glow on the front of the sound bar. Did everything to understand the problem. After a bunch of times resetting it to the factory default, red light would still be there. Customer service said it was a manufactured defective unit. To return it and get another one just to be disappointed again. This product sounded beautiful but had that red light problem and I continuously had to unplug it to reconnect to Wi-Fi. A horrible experience and very disappointed. I thought this was suppose to be one the best engineered sound bars out there. I purchased an arc sonos I’m happy with it but I like the sounds of the Bose better. A horrible engineering design of the arc it’s always on unless you unplug it from the wall. Just take that into consideration. It does not come with a remote either. The remote is your phone. That is laziness and beyond backward engineering.

Posted .Hi Peter, thank you for your review. I am glad you enjoy the sound of the soundbar. If the soundbar has a red light that is less than a inch in size, this means that the voice assistant microphone is muted and the soundbar will still function as normal. The microphone can be unmuted by tapping the microphone button on top of the soundbar. If your router is within 5ft of your soundbar, this can cause interference which can result in losing connection to the soundbar. This soundbar does come with a remote control, I would recommend reaching out to the customer support team about replacing the remote if you never received one. They will also be very happy to help you with any other support you may need:  https://bose.life/3nTDo5H

Awesome soundbar!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have all been waiting for Bose to step up to Sonos on the dobly atmos level and here we go! Finally a beautiful speaker from Bose compatible to the tech avail. I have a full Sonos system to compare against but at the time of this review the Bose 900 does not support the sub or surround speakers. This will be avail in a firmware update down the road though I’m not sure if you’ll be able to pair it with the smaller sub. So for a soundbar I want easy to hook up and great sound that’s the two most important factors. When spending this much you are in the luxury soundbar range and can expect a great looking speaker with a glass top and two holes for the upward drivers. Installing is easy and the app is easy to use. I do prefer the Sonos app layout to the Bose but let’s focus on the main thing.. sound quality. I believe the Bose 900 has 9 drivers giving you a center / left / right / atmos. Two dedicated atmos drivers mounted in the up position. I couldn’t tell if two of the speakers were outwards firing like pointed at a slant like most surround bars do to try and imitate full surround sound with a bar by itself. I never liked that because I want more of an immersive experience so throw those sound waves at me please! For a soundbar it does really well on its own. I threw down any title I could find on Netflix and cranked it full volume. At the time of this review the atmos speakers were not adjustable, but they will be later via firmware update. Movies sounded amazing. I played on this then my playbar and I couldn’t believe how much better this sounded. The extra 2 drivers makes a big difference! Then I threw down some 2-pac, wuTang, biggie to check out how this played music. On both movies and music to me it had ok lows, AWESOME mids, but super compressed bass on the deep end. Of course I couldn’t test this with the sub and surrounds which won’t give me a fair comparison vs my Sonos since I have their sub and surrounds. But soundbar vs soundbar.. it’s a no brainer on this one. Everything is superior in sound quality and looks. If you are in the market for a top of the line soundbar.. the Bose 900 deserves some serious consideration. It won’t be cheap, but when you are sitting back enjoying it, I know you will be happy with this purchase. I hope this helps anyone on the edge.. BUY IT!

DO NOT BUY OPEN BOX - YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don’t buy their open box items! What a joke. It’s arrived fingerprints everywhere which was annoying but understandable for being open box. But the speaker flat out did not work. Nothing. And Best Buy said they inspected the item beforehand. I wasted so much time and money on this stupid item. Buying brand new Sonos and not doing something like this ever again. You get what you pay for.
