Bought this for my 12 y/o son for his birthday. We've had it 2 months and it already rattles if there's any bass.

REFURBISHED - TESTED AND "MINOR SCRATCHES" NOTED - BUT WHEN I GOT HOME - THE BASS SPEAKERS DID NOT WORK - RETURNED THE ITEM THE VERY NEXT DAY

Did not work with amazon Alexa. This item was returned Not that great of sound either...

Always difficuly to connect. And its already not functioning. Just a horizontal boot bar. What a shame

I’ve had the Bose Home Speaker 500 for about 3 weeks and I’m impressed by the sound this speaker puts out. It was easy to pair my cell phone with the speaker once you downloaded the Bose music app. The Alexa feature is great to have although you will need a prime membership to hear certain songs. The speaker had a sleek style and the screen on the speaker was a nice added touch. The screen on the speaker shows the album cover of what song you are playing. All in all I love the speaker for the amplified sound it puts out. I can my music from anyway in the House.

I’ve currently had the Bose 500 speaker for about a month. The sound of the speaker doesn’t disappoint. The craftsmanship is also very premium. My only issue with the speaker is Alexa. It seems not to recognize a lot of the commands that I give the speaker. I really don’t know if it’s the speaker software or is it me not using the right commands. The speaker itself is very responsive to the touch commands at the top of the speaker and it seems to work very well with the Bose music app. In one of my previous reviews about the speaker, I mentioned this speaker can take the place of a sound bar and sub woofer and now I’m even more convinced as I have had the chance to get my hands on another Bose 500 speaker!!!! Via the app, you can connect both speakers to play at the same time!!!! With both speakers playing an action movie that I was viewing, I felt like I was really in a movie theater with surround sound etc. This blew me away!!!!! I’m very fond of the small form factor and the large sound that comes from this compact speaker. I do feel Alexa May still need some fine tuning but this speaker is one of the best on the market and although all the compatibility isn’t quite there yet as well but on the horizon, this speaker is definitely on the top of my list for speakers in this category. The speaker worked great with music and movies with almost no distortion with the sound levels turned up to the max!!!!!! I was also able to connect any Bluetooth device I wanted with ease. Speaking of Bluetooth, I did notice that the speaker would have connection issues if you change a setting from a device the speaker is connected with. For example, I went to my phone to change the eq while listening to music and this caused the connection with the speaker to faulted. I had to disconnnect and reconnect to get the speaker to work smoothly again. Over all, I give this speaker a 5 out of 5. Is seems to do everything pretty well and what it can’t seems like it can be fixed through firmware updates to the speaker.

Not worth the money for the sound. The Alexa feature doesn’t respond to questions just plays music. Returned it.

This loses bluetooth connection. Mostly it has some intermittement NO SOUND zone on Bluetooth.

Sorry but this one seems to be buggy. Keeps losing WiFi and then can’t find our WiFi. We have to keep power cycling. When it does work it sounds great. Please fix this Bose. Old SoundTouch 10 is awesome and is the one we still use.

The Bose Home Speaker 500 is an amazing product with great sound quality and advanced technology aspects to make it an exceptional sound and music listening experience. I will be splitting this review into several subsections for the performance and physical qualities as well. Sound Quality: The Bose Home Speaker 500 has incredibly immersive sound with a heavy, yet, controllable bass. The Bose Music app is extremely helpful when controlling how your music sounds, as you can adjust the bass, treble, and medium sounds for your music. I personally listen to music in my college dorm, and the sound level is more than what I would ever need. For bass heavy songs, it is extremely easy to lower the bass using the app, and even bass boost other songs that need more to get the right quality for what I like. Durability/Physical aspects: This speaker is very heavy. Although I have yet to drop it, I can see this speaker being one to easily drop, especially if it were to get wet in anyway. Make sure the speaker is away from children as it is a slick, matte, metal speaker with a lot of weight behind it. It does feel very durable however, as the build quality is completed very well and does not feel cheap in any aspect. The speaker I received is the matte black model and sits very well with my décor in my dorm room, and the LCD screen in the front gives a vibrant look and color when music is playing. My roommates love the look and overall feel of the speaker. Connectivity: When I first set up the speaker, it failed to connect to my phone several times. After finally connecting, the app said an update needed to install on the speaker. The update was half installed when it disconnected again and continued to fail to connect. The Bose troubleshooting guide did help, and the next day I was able to completely update and finish connecting my speaker. If your speaker won’t connect, here are some tips I did: 1. Turn off and turn back on your Bluetooth option on your phone/tablet. I had to do this several times before the speaker would find a signal. Sometimes it also helps if you choose “Forget this device” and re-connect it completely from the start. Overall: Great design, beautiful screen, well built speaker with incredible volume/sound quality. I highly recommend for people to reach out and purchase this speaker if you are in the market of buying a new home speaker. I have yet to find a product that compares to this one!

I bought two of these and they were to be able to pair. even had geek squad come out. They could not fix it.

Compared to other Bose speakers this one honestly sucked

I love that it took me only moments to set up my Bose speaker. Bluetooth connection is solid and the companion app is helpful. Yet, the best is the sound quality along with its powerful bass, very clear and loud. I can hear my favorite tracks even from the farthest corner of my home. Also, I love how it gets my commands right and getting Alexa to work is quick and painless. One minor flaw I discovered that it sometimes doesn't play audio smoothly from apps like YouTube.

For $400 Bluetooth speaker I was expecting loudness but instead I was left down

This speaker is awesome! My Daughter and I love to dance around the kitchen while listening to music on the speaker while cooking dinner, etc. the sound quality is impeccable! The bass is even more amazing. We love to have our own little dance parties with this Bluetooth speaker! It’s also so easy to setup so that definitely a bonus!

So this speaker is a winner for me! It is a must purchase if you are a Bose/Amazon Alexa lover or fan. The specs on this piece of equipment in my opinion matches the price point. Upon setting up I was already familiar with the downloading of app and sync of Wi-Fi application. It really comes down to a matter of following directions and setting up your own personal preferences. The speaker is a sleek design and marinates perfectly well in any room with any design. The visual screen icon is a wonderful bonus of black/ white as well as color. Once this stereo is on it kicks and you have the option to detail your pressure points of preference regarding sound. I happen to live in a condo building so I often times have to proceed with adjustments of sound quality depending on the time of day. This speaker provides that option without diminishing all sound quality. I appreciate the option of all three sync features especially the AUX option since I don't have smart TVs in all rooms in my space so that is a win/win for me. Preset channels and 360 sound...awesome. Now the Alexa voice control is a great addition however I think there still needs to be a soft sweep with fixing up the firmware on that. Had some issues with commands but overall ease of use with that capability is grand. Enjoying this product and high recommend.

So I am a big bose fan and was very excited to get this. From a sound standpoint, this is an amazing speaker! I am amazed by the richness, depth and actual width of the sound. I have the speaker on a cabinet in my living room and it sounds amazing.. great bass and treble. Set up was relatively easy.. a few hiccups but straightforward. I look forward to AirPlay being enabled early next year since I do live in the Apple ecosystem. I set up Alexa for the first time ever (Since no AirPlay) and have been testing it with Amazon Music as well. I purchased a couple of Alexa enabled light bulbs so I could turn lights on and off with Alexa. works great. I am actually amazed at what you can do with Alexa and hope that Apple can catch up with Siri some day! The only complaint I have is that I have some Bose SoundTouch speakers and they do not integrate with this system. So I get to choose my speakers based on my location in the house. Definitely recommend this speaker for the large sound/small package

I have always expected a lot from Bose, but thought this to be just another speaker. After setting up, which was easy and well executed, I was amazed by the sound and overall operation. Alexa works well, and the sound is amazing for such a small sized device.
