    Great sound

Great sound if you have right expectations. This is of course not a 5.1 surround system, but it does provide great sound at all volume levels. Though it does not have dedicated subwoofer, it provides enough bass (I tried Denon soundbar with subwoofer first, Bose Solo provides much better sound). Universal remote is very good - does everything my Verizon cable remote did, also was able to program it for Blue Ray player and Apple TV without problems. It was a bit trickier with Samsung TV which has smart remote with motion control. You can control basic functions from Bose remote, but of course not on screen items which require motion control. But, Samsung recognized Bose Solo easily from its remove setup and I'm able to control volume using TV remote when needed, Unfortunately you cannot turn it on/off or mute it from TV remote. Turning On/Off was actually solved by configuring Bose Solo into auto-awake mode (it turns itself on when there is a sound signal coming in, and turns off after 30 mins or so of inactivity). I'm totally willing to live with this slight inconvenience because sound is so good!

Hello there. Thank you for the review. You should be getting great sound with rich deep bass and clear highs. The Bose Solo 15 II does have a bass control which you can use to increase the bass, and the bass can increased by putting the system closer to a wall. However, if the above suggestions do not resolve it we are here to help. Please call us at 800-380-4831. We are available Monday through Friday 9am to 9pm and Saturday 9am to 7pm EST. Bose

This is an alright system for a BOSE. It does the job that I wanted which was to be able to hear the TV in an open floor plan environment with other noises going on in other rooms. I've had BOSE before and wanted the same quality.

First off - at the time of this review BestBuy has some factual errors on the specifications page, so let me correct those. There are 0 HDMI inputs, not 4. There are 0 HDMI outputs, not 1. This device is not WiFi capable. This device does not include a 3.5mm stereo audio cable (though it does include an analog stereo RCA cable). It is MUCH deeper than 4.75 inches. Do not think this device will sit sveltely in front of your TV. It is designed to go *under* your TV. BestBuy.com factual errors aside, I am very pleased with the purchase. The sound is vastly fuller and clearer than the TV's internal speakers. I the target audience for this product is one where space is at a premium and a full surround sound system is impractical. Smaller rooms or apartments where an active subwoofer might disturb the neighbors are both excellent use cases. Certainly any secondary or tertiary TV that doesn't need to be the home theater of the residence would be served quite well. Pros: - Excellent volume. Sound fills the room quite well for a one-piece unit. - Excellent dialog clarity - Quick setup involved one digital audio cable and power - Very sturdy Ambivalent: - The "universal remote" felt solid and was easy to program, but is no replacement for a Harmony. You will find yourself switching back and forth between the source and the TV modes to operate both. Cons: - Sound is surprisingly encompassing for a single-point unit, but know going in that the surround effects are really tricks of perception. Don't think this is going to be fully discrete surround, and don't expect it to shake the floorboards.

Set-up was easy with no issues encountered. The sound is good but not that much better than a soundbar costing less than half the price.

Not a substitute for a surround system

Last year I was looking at mini wireless speakers for my wife's IPad and was simply blown away by the Bose Soundlink Mini. Naturally when shopping for a sound bar I figured that if anyone could design a compact speaker system with a big sound it would have to be Bose. The Solo 15 series II disappointed me somewhat as I felt that its large cabinet with their wave technology would definitely kick out some good bass. Its bass is decent and tight with a smooth response, but if you're looking for a compact substitute for a surround system that will shake the room, you'll want something with a subwoofer. For us the Solo 15 is actually a good fit as we already have a great surround system that will shake the house as required. My wife doesn't always want to watch TV shows in a movie theatre though, so the Solo 15 fits the bill for that. It has a smooth frequency response and a wide soundstage. Music sounds good and tight, but lacks a deep floor. What sets the Solo 15 apart is its clarity. Dialogue just jumps out, even without its special "Dialogue Mode". I believe that the Solo 15 is pricey for what you're actually getting, but if you'r looking for an excellent TV speaker substitute, then pay no more. You'll have well-balanced sound for all your shows and movies and you'll never need to ask, "what did he say?" However, if you're looking for a movie theatre experience or want to use your soundbar largely for music, then you need to look at systems with a subwoofer.

Expected More from a Bose Product

Didn't sound as good as I thought it would & should. It's just okay, not great. Rather large for the sound coming out of it. Expected more despite similar reviews based on past Bose products experience. This was an impulsive buy since I wanted it 'now'. Ordered online and went to the store to pickup. Should have known better than to do that. Keeping the unit even though I could have returned it. My fault, my suffering.

Thank you for taking the time to try out this system. There are definitely ways to look at improving your experience with the Solo system. The most common is raising the volume on your cable/satellite box to about 90 percent to ensure that a strong signal is being sent to the system (or setting its audio output to fixed in the settings menu). If you like, we have experienced technicians available that can help explore your setup further. You can reach us at 1-800-379-2073. We are open from Mon. – Fri., 9 AM – 9 PM EST. Bose

This system has significantly improved our TV viewing experience. The sound quality is excellent. I love the clear voice feature when you need the dialog to cut through the mix. It has helped immensely. Also, the bass is very satisfying without being overbearing. I know some people want to feel their chest rattle when they hear bass. This system will not do that. But you will certainly feel the bass, and it is a perfect blend with the rest of the music. Bluetooth works perfectly. Setup is a snap. My only complaint is the remote. It works well about 85% of the time for controlling other devices like a Roku, BluRay player, and TV. The unit is a bit pricey, but assuming it lasts, I feel like it is an excellent investment. My wife is not a fan of my spending money on electronics (which I do too often). However, she has commented repeatedly that this was an excellent purchase and is glad I went for it.

The only real issue is base response. It lacks some in the bass department, but overall amazing sound and for smaller rooms is just great. I like the fact it has Bluetooth. Hit the button then find it on your iphone, select the song and then jam away. Your iphone controls the volume when playing through Bluetooth.

I wanted the best portable sound system for watching TV. I was willing to dish out the price if you gave me the best sound. I don't understand why this product has so many good reviews as it is simply mediocre. The dialogue mode is a nice feature but it is still just OK for the price you pay. Universal Remote is a nice feature but I had to call them to set it up with my Sony TV, Blu-ray and Xfinity remote as the instructions are not very intuitive. The bass is hardly there. The product malfunction on two occasions where it just froze and I had to unplug and replug for it to work again. Again this Bose solo is not a bad product but I exchanged it for Vizio sound bar plus subwoofer. ($150 ) and find a sound quality test is good, has a Clearsound feature, more bass when you need it, Bluetooth connectivity and sound is much much louder. You got to be smart with your money. Sorry bose your product is not much better than the competitors to justify your price.

    Something for everyone

We were looking to replace our Sony soundbar/wireless bass. With the Sony there were some movies and shows where the voices were just too muffled, others where sound effects were deafeningly loud. I had picked up the SONOS soundbar as an original replacement but for the money the max volume was too low, and there was little bass. Outside of that the SONOS did have good sound. We returned the overpriced SONOS and tried this Bose 15, which I must say is a great device. We now hear things (shuffling of paper, putting down a glass, etc) that we have never heard before. Unfortunately, we hear some of the artifacts in poor streaming audio as well, but that's rare and you get used to it - it's also not the sound bar's fault. Voice mode makes those muffled movies clear and it also tames those overbearing sound effects. However, voice mode does reduce the surround sound effect and the bass a bit. You can compensate for this by jacking up the bass up before turning on voice mode. We use voice mode all the time, and are never rewinding to hear a line or turning the volume down during a battle scene. If you want the surround effect and the bass, there is plenty of it when not in voice mode. We don't miss a dedicated wireless bass component at all. Whether your are looking for voice clarity, want to reduce the need for turning the volume up and down all the time, or want good simulated surround sound, this Bose has a mode that will make you happy. Oh, and the volume is sufficient to fill a large room (we have it in a large family room with vaulted ceilings and it's just fine. Great job, Bose!

Plug and Play with awesome sound

First the downfall, you need an optical connector for you to be able to use it. This sound bar works like no other, it's sound is truly crisp and the bass is adjustable based on the room size and it works awesome! I liked it so much I bought two: one for our master and one for another bedroom in the home. I wouldn't suggest this for a home's living room tv but I am sure it would be awesome in an apartment living room like a college students apartment. It comes with a universal remote that you can program to use with your tv, cable and the sound bar. I like it a lot but I still find myself using the cable provider's remote which is also programmed with the sound bar. In the past I've had sound bars where you have to use the remote that comes with the device because it's not programmable with your tv or cable box. So that's a plus side for this Bose sound bar. This was my first Bose theatre product to buy which then lead us to buy the surround sound for our living area. That's a whole other monster in itself and it is AWESOME!!!

Works great. Very simple set up, simple to use and elegant design. We were looking to enhance movie audio and this product is perfect for us. Audiophiles probably need to look elsewhere for more customization features. But if you want excellent audio quality and brilliant simplicity, you can't go wrong. Bonus-the universal remote also works great. Took about 5 mins to set everything up.

"Just right for a small room"

I wanted to enhance the sound of my 55" Sony TV without being overwhelmed with too much bass in such a small room. The Bose Solo 15 Series II TV system is ideal for a small room to booster your TV sound quality in every respect. The bass does not boom you out of your room nor vibrate your walls. It gives you the right mixture of treble and bass that allow you to hear clearly, every sound. If you want blasting, walls shaking, thunderous sound, this Bose Solo 15 Series II TV speaker is not for you. But, if you want high quality, clear, and distinctive sound all combined in one unit, this is it. I considered a soundbar but instead, I chose this Bose Solo 15 Series II because of Bose uncompromising quality in all their products that I have bought from them in the past and will continue to buy in the future. I could not have found a better speaker system for my needs, than Bose.I have never been disappointed in a Bose product. If you are looking for a speaker that conserves space and delivers quality sound in a small place, I would recommend this Bose Solo 15 Series II TV system.
