    It worked for a few days and then no sound when watching tv. Works while using iPad for music, but still no sound while watching tv. After reading manual countless times and following the directions to resolve the problem, which didn’t work, I gave up. Looks like I’ll be sending it back.

    Not the Bose you expect

    This product is not with the money nor is the sound the quality of previous Bose products. App is not reliable and. After calling Bose, their suggestion was to use a optical audio instead of HDMI ARC. For this price point there should be an actual fix. Bose acknowledges an issue with the latest Samsung update. Save your money

Just to clarify, if your TV does not have an HDMI connector with an eARC or ARC label, you can use an optical cable to connect the TV to the soundbar.     Maybe a Sonos Instead ??

    The HDMI did not work from day one. Forced to use Optical instead. Bose had no answer. Two days after that it Stopped powering up. Just went dead. Had to send to Bose as Best Buy offered ZERO assistance with Issue. Was sent Replacement. Will Give Part Two on Sub Review

    The packaging was very minimal and easy to undo. Everything was easy to find in the package. It came with everything you need to get up and running. Remote, batteries, power supply and the hdmi for arc which is the recommended audio connection. The set up was super smeelanse and East when connecting through optical cable for audio. It came right up and started working. The sound was great, clear and crisp. I ran into trouble with the Bose Music app not finding the device when I tried using the hdmiarc. I powered the device off and on several times messed with the blue tooth nothing worked. I googled for awhile did not find anything finally came across a link on the bose site with troubleshooting tips and saw where it mentioned connecting to the app troubleshooting steps. Finally saw where the device needed to be in setup mode by simultaneously pressing the tv and skip back button for 3 seconds, the light on the device would turn amber and it was in setup mode. The app picked up the device immediately once I did that step. I really wish that the instruction manuals came with that tip. Once it was setup up that way I really did not notice a difference. I also had to make sure that the tv was set up to work thorough link so that the bar could control the tv sound. When there is no sound playing for a period of time of the tv it shut the bar and tv off. The sound is perfectly fine alone it’s not to loud and sounds natural. When paired with the bass module it has a bit of a bass sound but not heavy or drowning. It’s just enough to give it a little if the deep sounds. I’m not one to play my movies or tv at a really loud volume I prefer a mid level sound and everything f sounds very natural. I’m super happy with it. I let was a huge upgrade from the tv speakers. It takes up very little space and blends in well. Bose did not disappoint.

    The unit is fairly slim and compact and easy to handle. The sound output when couple along the Bose 500 subwoofer is fantastic. As a standalone sound bar, sound is room filling and very easy to set up and use. The built in Alexa is great and the pickup and wireless connections are rock solid.

    This soundbar is great. It’s incredible how much sound it can produce. I can hear it perfectly no matter where I am but it can also only be heard in the entertaining room. If you purchase this bar you won’t have to go the movie theater again. The sound is that amazing. It’s also great for watching tv shows and gaming. The sound quality clear and powerful. It’s the perfect combination of sound and size. I love the design of this speaker. Its visually more appealing than other soundbars. It blends in with the rest of my entertainment center perfectly. The set up on this divice is simple and quick. The technology on this soundbar is ahead of its time. Overall, I would recommend this speaker to anyone who is looking for a soundbar. It won’t disappoint.

    Nice high and low end, but lacking mid-range

    When playing audio through standard flat-screen TV speakers, you tend to get mostly tinny high-end, with much less mid-range and bass. With this sound-bar, you get more of the high and mid-high range in a much higher quality. You also get great bass sound and articulation for such a comparatively small device. However, this sound-bar seems to be missing the mid-range almost as much as small TV speakers. I tried listening to the same music through the TV, through this sound-bar, and through nice headphones. The TV is very tinny, and almost all high-end. The sound-bar has better high-end and upper mid-range, and nice bass. The headphones provide the full spectrum of sound. Through the bar, classic midrange of guitars seems to fade to the background, and some vocals sound more hollow than usual. This is definitely not a device for an audiophile, but will serve respectably for general TV watching. This thing definitely has the volume to fill a room. The set-up is another area which I feel needs comment. The bar itself is simple enough, but they require you to download an app to get the full instructions and run through setting up the sound quality for the room in which you’re using the speaker. Going through this set-up requires sitting in different seats around the room with a band on your head while it makes beeping sounds to map the room. Odd, but fine. Now, you connect to your TV… or try to. It comes with an HDMI cable and says to connect to your HDMI ARC output from the TV. I thought I was in touch with technology, but I’ve never heard of this, and my 2-year-old Samsung doesn’t have one. You skip that to be instructed to plug in the standard fiber-optic audio cable… which they didn’t include. This seems like a cheap move from Bose. Generally, this is a reasonable sound-bar, though I can’t help but feel like there are better out there. I feel like my old Bose system, which is larger and built to have the TV on top of it, has better audio quality. However, it is about 10x larger and 3x heavier. It is possible to get additional surround speakers with this set-up, and hopefully they would fill in the mid-range of the sound. It seems a bit much to ask to buy additional speakers on top of this just to have balanced sound. I have no comments on the Alexa functionality, as I don’t use any devices with “always on” microphones.

    Best Soundbar so far

    We;'ve had the SoundBar 500 for about a month, along with the bass unit. it unboxed elegantly, and set up was effortless once the Bose app was installed. in general, the soundbar provided excellent sound in our larger living room. With the Bose App the sound could be adjusted for base, treble and dialogue. It would have been nice to have a greater functioning equalizer ability but not missed at all for TV and movies. Music sound, through Alexa, was also quite good. the sound is clear and does not clip at the volumes we used during the month. Certainly the looks and design are simple and go well with other electronics and do not interfere with the room itself. I would recommend the sound bar along with the bass unit.

    Please don’t bother .. setting up was a hassle then the subwoofer wouldn’t work .. just a real pain so went to get the Sonos and it’s AMAZING

    I love Bose. They make quality products all the time. The style and look of their products are great. Especially the sleek look of this soundbar. I like this sound bar but there are some thing that are not so good. I'll start with the bad. The worst thing about it is that you can only control the settings from within the Bose music app. This is troublesome for me. Instead of just picking up the remote and adjusting the settings, you have to go into the app to do this. On top of that, there are only 3 sound settings: Bass, Treble, and center speaker. That's it. No other way to tweak the sound. Now the good thing about this soundbar is the actual sound of it. It's crisp and crystal clear. No need to turn the volume up on low parts of movies or tv shows. If this sound bar was cheaper I would recommend but I believe it's far too expensive. Just not customizable enough for me.

    I have had multiple soundbars over the years but, this Bose is definitely my favorite. The setup was a little difficult there were some connection issues that I was able to figure out and resolve. The unit is very sleek and smaller than any soundbar I've had and even though smaller packs more of a sound. Once I had it set up I could tell immediately that I was not going to be disappointed. The Alexa feature is always an added bonus to any product these days. The only downside (Although not enough to take away stars) When I pause my TV/Xbox for more than minutes the soundbar cuts off on its own and I have to switch back to the remote it came with to turn it back on which is a little annoying. I'm not sure if this is a setting that can be changed so far I havent been able to locate it.
