    Small Speaker with Great Sound

    Posted
    mikerisner

I have naturally been drawn to Bose audio products for their ability to create balanced, high-fidelity sound at most volume levels, and the SoundLink Color II continues to meet my expectations. SOUND I used the speaker with an iPhone 6s Plus with no special equalization, and it sounded terrific at middle and high volumes. At lower volumes, it still did great. The middle and high tones blended well with the bass, but they diminished a tiny bit at lower volumes. Bass was warm and not overpowering (and I appreciate that). I've used it for music, video, and even a conference call. A couple of times, I have noticed the slightest bit of distortion at even mid-level volume. I did the troubleshooting, and it didn't fix the issue. For perspective, I noticed this in perhaps one out of fifty songs, so it's possible it was simply the song's production issue. iOS APP (version 4.1) I really like the app. It has a simple and clean design that is easy to navigate. The settings are straightforward. The app offer integration with the iPhone's Battery widget in the Notification Center so it's easy to check on the battery. When I connected the speaker with my phone, the app began a lengthy update process. It took more than an hour to prepare it for some reason, but it allowed me to use the speaker until it actually started updating it. And that didn't take very long. PERFORMANCE Pairing using the smartphone app was a breeze, and the voice announced the device(s) to which it is connected along with the battery charge level. Connections to my phone were quick, and audio was perfectly synchronized with videos. And I used this speaker a lot and never got a prompt to recharge the battery. It's very convenient. BUILD The speaker is about 5 inches wide and tall and 2 inches deep. It's not heavy, but there is a pleasant heft that keeps it planted where you place it. It does not vibrate during use even when it's loud. Tweeters are on the front, and the bass is on the back. The side has a micro USB for charging along with a 3.5mm headphone jack. The outer shell is shock absorbent, but it's not plush. The texture of the silicon skin makes it easy to have a confident grip on the speaker. I did not do a drop test, but my guess is this speaker could easily survive a table-height fall. SUBJECTIVE REMARKS I really like the SoundLink Color II, and I can easily recommend it. It might not be perfect or cheap, but I feel it offers a compelling value compared to its competition.

The Bose Color Link II is an awesome speaker with a big sound in a tiny little package. The exterior is coated in a rubberized silicone that gives it a very nice grip. It touts itself as being water resistant, but I wasn’t daring enough to pour a glass of water over it or anything. The “blue” is really more of a teal / aqua color. It wouldn’t have been my first choice in color, but it’s pleasant enough to the eye. The simplicity of its controls is both an asset and a drawback. Many of its functions are controlled using a single “multi-function” button. Long pressing allows you to make a phone call via voice dial. Short pressing while on a call and receiving another call will switch you to the next caller. Double tapping the multi-function button will allow you to switch between calls. Long pressing while on a call will switch you to your handset. Short press to accept an incoming call. And finally, long pressing will reject an incoming call. The controls are easy enough to work with the instructions sitting directly in front of you, but it’s going to be a little tricky getting used to working them from memory. I found myself accidentally short pressing at the wrong times or forgetting whether a long press or a short press was needed. I’m sure that this will get easier once I get past the learning curve. The manual with the instructions isn’t included in the box. Instead, you have to download Bose’ app and connect the app to the speaker in order to pull up the manual. Now to the sound quality. Let me start by saying that I am not an audiophile by any means. I enjoy listening to music, and I own several different playback devices; but I don’t consider myself a connoisseur of audio equipment by any means. That being said, I found the sounds to be impressively loud and not at all tinny. I took the speaker outside and cranked the volume. I was able to clearly hear the speaker from about fifty feet away (though it should be noted that the Bluetooth connection only extended about fifteen feet). The sound was clear, loud, and pleasant. I tested the mic by performing a series of “Okay Google” searches. The mic was able to clearly pick up my voice from multiple spots throughout a fair sized room. Whether or not I was facing the speaker made little difference so long as I spoke loudly and clearly. All in all, I was very impressed by this speaker. Given the size, I was tempted to dismiss this as just another Bluetooth toy. But given the sound quality and overall performance, I’ve come to realize that this really is a quality device.

Before this, I was using a Beats Pill 2.0 for casual listening around the house while doing chores or while outside on the patio. The Pill did the trick, but I wasn't very impressed with the audio quality. I can say that the new Bose Soundlink Color 2 is a fantastic upgrade! I hate to jump on the anti-Beats bandwagon, but when you compare the Pill to the Soundlink, it's clear that you're just paying for the aesthetics and logo with the Pill. If you want the better audio quality between the two, go with the Soundlink. I love how amazing this little speaker sounds, even at higher volume levels, the quality remains fantastic. I don't know a better way to word it, but the audio sounds like it should be coming from a much larger speaker, Bose really did a fantastic job. There is one thing I liked over my old Beats Pill compared to the Bose Soundlink: a protective case. My Pill came with a simple protective case, while the Soundlink does not. If I want a case to store my speaker and keep it free from dust or for travel, I have to buy one straight from Bose (or go with a 3rd party via Amazon). It's not a deal-breaker, but I was a little disappointed. You can also use a Bose connection app from either the Apple App Store or Google Play with the Soundlink 2. The app feels a little unnecessary to be honest. My phone connected to the speaker right away (and was added as a trusted device to make future pairing easy) without the assistance of the app. I can control the volume through the app, but I can do that with the phone volume buttons as well. Plus, the volume control in the app shows as maxed out, while I can still press the physical button on the speaker to increase the volume further. Until Bose makes some updates to the app, it really feels pointless. I wouldn't bother downloading it. You can use the Soundlink as a speakerphone to make and receive calls, but the quality wasn't as great as I was expecting. I had to walk over to the speaker and really turn up the volume to hear the other person, and they told me that the quality on their end was sub-par (they knew right away I had them on speakerphone, but it sounded "worse than usual"). Since I mostly plan on connecting my phone to the Soundlink, I'll probably just take my phone out when I need to make/receive a call. PROS: * Lightweight * Great sound * Easy to pair with phone/tablet/computer * Decent battery life CONS: * The mobile app needs work * No included protective case * Phone call quality is not great

I have been a huge Bose fan for years. I have to say the Bose® - Soundlink® Color Bluetooth Speaker II has to be my favorite Bose product. The size of this bluetooth speaker compared to what it puts out is outstanding. I can take this speaker anywhere and get amazing sound. It links easily to your device with an app. It offers several languages to choose from when you set up. It charges quickly and holds a charge for several hours. Once I charged this and used it for 4 hours, I shut my device off, turned it on the next day and still had a full charge. I used it again for another 4 hours. I did this again the next day and still had plenty of charge. I was quite impressed with the longevity of the charge it held. I was also able to place the speaker in one room and change songs, the volume and playlists, etc. from my device from other rooms in the house. The speaker is lightweight, but sturdy. I had it sitting on the kitchen counter charging and without thinking flipped on the faucet. Some water splashed up on the counter and hit the speaker. Not a lot, but enough to make me think twice. The speaker didn't seem to notice it was a little wet. It never skipped a beat, just kept right on playing. Bottom line, if you're looking for a bluetooth speaker with a powerful punch to it, I would recommend the Bose® - Soundlink® Color Bluetooth Speaker II. The only thing I would give you the head's up on is, the speaker is packaged with a charge cord, but does not include a USB box (you plug into the wall). So, if you're low on those, you may want to pick up an extra.

Great water resistant companion for on-the-go

This review is for the Bose SoundLink Color II, a portable Bluetooth speaker that is water resistant and available in multiple colors. It is actually the second release in the SoundLink Color line, although I'm finding it difficult determining what is new/changed from the original SoundLink Color. For many people, Bose has a reputation for good sound at somewhat of a premium. Yes, you can often find competing products at a lower cost but they typically have a compromise in design or refinement, and it seems like the Bose products set the bar that competitors measure against. With that said, I find the sound of the SoundLink Color II suitable for on-the-go listening. When on-the-go, I think you want clear sounding music with a good range (both highs and lows) as well as being loud enough to compete with the outdoor ambient noise and it does both. It can reasonably fill a room, and while it does sound best when on-axis (it directly facing you), it still sounds good when off-axis. Being a Bluetooth speaker, it pairs using Bluetooth and has voice prompts to assist with pairing, as well as to provide battery level. Speaking of battery, it is rated to last 8 hours on a full charge. There is a companion Bose Connect app as well which lets you adjust settings such as the Auto-Off Timer. A standard 3.5mm auxiliary input jack is also available if you want to use that. When paired with an iPhone, the battery level is communicated so you can see it on the iPhone as well. A standard micro-USB plug is used to charge and while a micro-USB cable is included, a charger is not. I found I was able to charge it with most USB chargers, and it seems to draw just over 1A. It is possible to charge and use at the same time. Like many other Bluetooth speakers, the SoundLink Color II has a microphone and can be used as a hands-free speakerphone when connected using Bluetooth. This can help for the impromptu phone call that comes in while listening to music, although it'll be far from a private conversation! The Aquatic Blue color is a lighter shade, which may do well outside in the sun compared to darker colors that might absorb the heat. With a 1-year warranty and Bose's reputation, I recommend the SoundLink Color II to anyone looking for a reliable portable Bluetooth speaker with good sound and water-resistance.

Bluetooth speakers are very common these days. Many people have them, and a lot of them share common features such as size, battery life, and a loud volume in a small package. Bose has a reputation for quality sound, but when I first saw the Soundlink Color II I honestly didn't expect a drastic difference over the competition. After all they have a very limited space to work with as the speaker easily fits in one hand. I am pleased to say that I am blown away by the sound of this little speaker. HUGE Bose quality sound. Tiny portable box. They have done it again. The attached pictures show what comes in the box. The speaker itself, a USB charge cable, and your standard documentation and quick start guide. Everything you need to get started. PROS: Ease of setup, and use. Loud, CRISP, distortion free sound. Excellent battery life. Excellent wireless range over Bluetooth. Attractive appearance. Durable rubberized enclosure. CONS: No included AC adapter. No included 3.5mm cable. My charging port is not lined up very well with the enclosure. It's louder than you think. A friend actually thought I was playing music over my home theater system until I pointed out the Soundlink Color II. It has ROOM FILLING Bose signature sound. If you are wondering if it is worth it to spend the extra money over some of the cheaper alternatives I am here to say that yes you absolutely should without hesitation. You will thank yourself later. Highly recommended thank you Bose.

Rich Sound from a Little Box

There are so many things I like about this little Bose Bluetooth speaker that it's hard to know where to start. First, I guess its greatest testimonial is that my wife has stolen it from me for use in her van. It's a full size van with a poor sound system and this little speaker does a decent job of filling it with a rich sound! That said, when a product carries the name Bose you tend to have high expectations. And this Bose SoundLink bluetooth speaker doesn't disappoint. As I write this I'm streaming The Moody Blues through it and they sound great! It has appropriate levels of bass without sacrificing any highs from their background orchestra. Physically, it's a small speaker, yet it has that rich, full sound you would expect from a Bose product. It's about the size of two smartphones set side by side, and around 2" thick with rounded sides for easy gripping. It easily fits into our vehicle's glovebox and should slip into most of the other small storage compartments found in today's vehicles. It is completely covered with a non-slip coating and all the sub-surface, pressure sensitive controls are on the top (On/Off, Bluetooth, NFC, -+ volume, language selection) with everything else managed through the Bose Connect app. Language selection is needed because some of the controls will report their actions by voice. On the right side of the speaker you'll find a standard earphone jack and a mini-USB port for recharging. Several times we've used the speaker for 6-7 hours before recharging. Oh, it can be paired to two players at the same time. Cool feature. It automatically switched back and forth between my iPad and my Android phone to whichever one was playing. We've used it so much in the couple weeks we've had it that it's actually gotten dirty. It cleaned easily with a soft cloth and a standard household cleaner. I was a little disappointed to find that the red marker lines made by my 5 year old granddaughter are there to stay. I couldn't get them off the protective blue coating with anything I tried. Finally, this is a very nice sounding speaker that sports just the right amount of features for its price. I can recommend it without any reservations whatsoever.

    Portable, Simple and Powerful

The quality of this unit and its sound are as high as you'd expect from a Bose product. This is the second generation Soundlink Color that adds NFC (tap another NFC device to it and you’re paired) and a microphone/speakerphone (can answer phone calls by pressing the multifunction unit on the speaker). The unit is 5.25 inches tall and 1.25 lbs - not too small or big and not too light or heavy. It's almost entirely wrapped in smooth non-slip silicone which helps make it water resistant and durable against scratches/damage. I would have preferred the buttons to have been more delineated rather than hidden under the silicone cover but they do respond with a solid click when pressed. The bluetooth connectivity is solid beyond the prescribed 30 foot rated range - even through walls. Battery takes 3 hours to fully charge and lasts 8 hours if used continuously. The unit can be powered from your phone and powers down automatically (while you can set the preferred wait time on your phone app - i would have preferred the added ability to immediately power down the unit from the phone). The speaker can maintain its remaining charge for days. The sound quality is impressively strong and fills the room. I found placing it next to a wall makes it sound even better. The music doesn't distort even when you set the volume to max. Because of its portability (no wires + impressive connection reach) and strong and clear sound quality, here are the different ways i've used the Bose Soundlink Color 2: - I've used the auxiliary port to connect it to my Echo device and streamed my Amazon music mixes as well as bantered with Alexa. - i placed it behind me on the couch and watched a movie on my iPad (felt almost like i was emerged in a surround sound theatre) - I used it heavily in my backyard and garage and all over the house (I've been placing it in the bathroom when i take showers and get ready for work in the mornings) - i plan to take it to picnics and pool side this summer. I'm very pleased with this unit and do recommend it over alternative portable bluetooth speakers.

I recently had the opportunity to review the Bose Soundlink II bluetooth speaker as part of the Best Buy Tech Insider Network. The speaker is packaged nicely, with instructions included in many languages. Pairing with my Samsung s7 was extremely fast and easy using bluetooth. The Bose soundlink II will allow you to connect up to 2 devices at once and switch between them. It has a built in speaker so you can make calls or contact google or siri right through the speaker. As with most Bose speaker products, the sound was very full with a natural tone. The quality of the sound was very good and the volume was surprisingly loud. Bose also has a free app you can download to your phone or device to control the speaker and switch between devices connected to the bose soundlink II. There is also a 3.5mm jack to plug in devices that might not have bluetooth capability. This Bose speaker is water resistant so a quick shower while your on the beach shouldn't cause any harm and it is rechargeable using almost any usb charging device. If you are someone who like to move around a lot or be outside and you like to listen to music or news while your doing it, this speaker will really make you happy.

    Incredible Speaker

First off, I would like to say that this speaker is perfect for its category. It is the perfect outside, patio projection speaker that I have heard. This review will be broken into four different parts, being Design, Sound Quality, Ease of Use, and Durability. 1. Design: The design of this particular product is made for a diverse listening atmosphere. The sleek design makes it easy to place anywhere, whether it be outside, in the house, or on the go in the car. The colors offer a wide variety of design for any desire one might have for a colorful speaker. 2. Sound Quality: The Sound quality of the speaker is excellent, clear and crisp audio. Compared to the new Revolve speaker, it has very similar audio, however it is not projected at 360 degree sound like the Revolve speaker. The low end bass is excellent as well and can be felt when holding the speaker. Even though the bass is powerful, it is not overwhelming. 3. Ease of Use: Out of the box the speaker needs to be charged up, and connected to a smartphone or other Bluetooth compatible device. It is very simple to set up, and connects right away. The battery life of the speaker is excellent, however, it does not give the specific battery life when turning on. This is one critique I have about the speaker. (Ex. "Battery High, connected to iPhone" rather than "Battery 90%, connected to iPhone.) Other than this, it is very easy to use and offers a great, easy Bose speaker experience. 4. Durability: Although I have not purposefully dropped or abused this device, its intelligent design and strong build have left me with no worries if I were to accidentally drop the speaker. I completely trust taking this on the go, or simply leaving it in one area to project excellent sound. OVERALL THOUGHT: This speaker offers fantastic sound and a great listening experience. For the price that it is offered at, it is an unbeatable speaker for anywhere you would need to go to enjoy listening. Great sound quality and diverse colors make this one of the best speakers I have listened to by Bose Corporation.

Okay, I will first say that Bose makes only great stuff. I own a bunch of their speakers and love them all. When I saw this, it seemed kind of toy like with the turquoise color, and I wasn't expecting much, especially at the $129 price point. Well, I could not have been more surprised. This is a well made, well thought out speaker, built with a purpose. It has a great color, and a non slip finish, but is also water resistant. It is made to be taken on the go and used wherever you may go, or not go. I haven't tested it out in the elements, but I can tell you I will not worry about some wet conditions or sand, or dirt mucking this up. Nor will I worry about it slipping out of my hands while I carry things to the park. It looks great at home, and sounds amazing. Playing this side by side compared to the sound link mini and sound link mini 2, it is hard to tell it isn't a sound link mini. It sounds that good. Bonus? It is also a speaker phone for your Bluetooth enabled and connected phone. And that works amazingly well too. There is a Bose Bluetooth app available for administering the unit to do updates, review what devices are stored in it (can store up to 8 devices), etc. If you want a great Bose speaker for at home or on the go, this is a great choice. It does come with a micro USB cable but no charger, so plan accordingly when purchasing, if you do not have a USB charger of at least one amp.

Pros: + Light weight, highly portable + Stylish speaker that stands out from a crowd + Upright design projects sound + Rugged design. Sturdy construction and design. + Splash resistant + Speakerphone functionality + Good (but not great) bass + Sound is clear for its size + No distortion at maximum volume + Rubberized buttons make it easy to operate by feel + Bose app for smartphone makes operation even easier + Rubberized grip + Headphone jack! + mini-USB charging means I don't have to use proprietary charges + Easy bluetooth pairing + Solid build quality + Bose name Cons: - Mono speaker, so there is no stereo separation - Expensive compared to other less feature-rich speakers - Estimated battery life is short, but is similar to others in its class - No docking station - Cryptic buttons on speaker. Needed to read instructions. Conclusion: The Bose Soundlink Color II is an great speaker for times where light splashes of water might be involved. I loved using it by the pool and during a BBQ. I also use it daily while washing dishes and am not afraid to get it a little wet. Stereo separation is non-existent given that this is a mono-speaker, but it plays loudly and clearly with relatively deep bass for its class. The soundlink color II is a great rugged blue tooth speaker that is both conservatively stylish and well-built. Recommendation: BUY

If you're looking for a good sounding, easy to pair speaker...this is the one. Build quality: Excellent. This speaker is covered in a rubber type material that makes it easy to grip when wet (yes, speaker is "waterproof"! more like splash resistant, but still good). The speaker has a nice weight to it, but isn't heavy...but heavy enough to not feel cheap. Features: As I said before, waterproofish. I use this speaker mainly in the shower. Speaker sounds great, and pairing was easy. I had the speaker out of the box and paired in just a few minutes. There are voice prompts built in to the speaker that guide you through the pairing process. The buttons on the top are very useful. There is a power button, a button to turn bluetooth off (to use an aux cord), volume up and down, and a multifunction button. The multifunction does usual play/pause, next/previous.....but also lets you control the voice assistant on the phone. Hold it down for a couple seconds and up pops siri (with an iPhone at least), the speaker has a built in microphone for talking to siri...so I can get a weather report in the shower. Also doubles as a speaker phone, you can answer and hang up the call with the multifunction button (ok...I don't use this in the shower). There is also a Bose Connect app, that allows you to change some settings on the speaker, such as turning off the voice assistant (which states which device is connected to, and the battery level when you turn on the speaker). If you turn it off, you just go by a light on the top of the unit for battery level. I DID have trouble getting this app to find the speaker to connect to it, and then a few minutes in it randomly found the speaker and worked as advertised. You cannot, however, get two of these and pair them to create a stereo effect as you can with some other speakers on the market. I also have not paired more than one device (I believe you can do 20), so I'm not sure how well the handing off between devices will work. Verdict: EXCELLENT speaker. Waterproof, good sound, good battery life. Good buy.

The Bose Soundlink Color II is a great choice for those who are looking for a wireless speaker for use anywhere and is especially the choice for a trip to the beach or on a hike. The Soundlink Color II is coated in a soft touch rubber which makes the speaker feel comfortable in the hand and tough enough to survive bumps and scrapes out on the trail. It is IPX4 water resistant which makes it splashproof but not waterproof which means you won’t want to dunk it into the water. All of the speakers buttons are on top, which includes playback controls, volume adjustment, power, Bluetooth pairing and Aux-In. Bose has also included a 3.5mm headphone jack for those who have older playback devices. You can also answer calls and use voice assistants like Siri or Google Assistant. Simply press and hold the multifunction button at the top to active your voice assistant to look up information or place calls. There’s also NFC built in for quick and easy pairing, which works flawlessly. Another neat feature that Bose packs in that’s quite rare for wireless speakers is multipoint Bluetooth. Multipoint technology allows two devices to pair to the SoundLink Color II simultaneously. This means you don’t have to jump through menus to switch from your phone to your tablet. The SoundLink Color II offers a good dynamic range for a speaker of its size, giving us nice bass extension and impact. The Bose SoundLink Color II offers good sound quality and tons of features in a portable body. On the down side, its 8 hours of battery life is average compared to the competition and I’d like to see Bose make the next version of the SoundLink Color last even longer. It would be nice to see the next SoundLink Color go fully waterproof like the rest of the competition. It’s not perfect but if portability, sound quality and features like NFC, multipoint bluetooth and speakerphone support are important to you, I think you’ll love the Bose SoundLink Color II too.

Early on in my music listening life I thought Bose was really cool. I remember listening in the stores and thinking that the Wave radio and the headphones were awesome. Only problem was, I could never afford their stuff. Fast forward a few years to when I finally got one of my first sets of what I considered really nice headphones (they have to be really nice because they cost a lot right?). I thought they were great until a friend let me try their headphones (Audio-Technica) and I was blown away by what I was missing with the Bose. I became ardently anti-Bose from that point on. Ok, why the story about why I don't like Bose? Because since the advent of bluetooth I have owned a ton of bluetooth speakers (really, if I still had them all I would probably have more than a dozen which is silly), and none of them were Bose. Enter the SoundLink. A friend of mine was raving about his saying how much he loves it and when my office speaker died on me I decided to give the SoundLink a try. I was not disappointed. I now own lots of great gear for listening to music (Sennheiser HD 650s, custom in-ear monitors, high end bluetooth speakers), and I have to admit, Bose is now to where I always assumed they were. This speaker cranks and it sounds awesome doing it. Quite a few of my other bluetooth speakers would have the music break down if it was taken to loud, but not the Bose (it goes to 11). Combine the great sound, with very good battery life (so far I have gotten better than the 8 hour rating on the box), and put it all in a nice form factor with great weather/element resistance and you have a winner. My only complaint is the color. I only had the choice of a blue speaker and it is a little too pastel for my taste. Though it is better than black which is boring or white which would get dirty in no time. Perhaps they can do some more adult colors sometime in the future. All-in-all, this is a great speaker for a great price. It made me a believer again in Bose.

After opening the box and realizing the small size, I have to say I was skeptical. But from the first song I played on it, I was completely sold. I've used other Bluetooth speakers before but they always sounded, for the most part, thin and tinny. Or if they sounded good, they were always too big to be practical. This guy has so much clear bass I couldn't believe it came from such a small package. Right out of the box, it was easy to set up and connected to my S5 right away. I used a DLNA music app to play music from my NAS drive and it streamed right to the SoundLink through the Bluetooth connection with my phone. It couldn't possibly have been any easier. Music on my phone played just as easily and everything sounded like it was playing on something ten times the size. Very clear sound with punchy bass. When I started to turn up the volume, it had power to spare. I wasn't able to see exactly how loud it went because I didn't need to go up any higher. There's an app from Bose that you can load if you want to, but you don't need it to use the SoundLink. Just connect it via Bluetooth just like any other device, and you're all set to go. The app allows you to actually view the settings of the SoundLink and has some helpful info and links to the manual among other things. It can actually connect to two different devices at the same time, and the app will also help you to choose which ones you want to connect to (or disconnect from). The outside surface has a rubbery feel to it and a nice shape that's easy to hold. Likewise the buttons on the top for power, volume, Bluetooth, etc. have a very nice tactile feel to them. There's also a 3.5mm auxiliary input if you would rather connect that way. All in all, I was blown away by the entire device. Fantastic sound, great size and feel, and the ability to charge the battery and put it any place you want without having to consider where the power outlets are make this a no brainer.

This is a review not ONLY about the new (and improved) Soundlink Color II, BUT also a review of the Best Buy Geek Squad Protection program. Let me first begin by giving MAJOR kudos to the Protection Program. I typically don't purchase the extra insurance, BUT wanting to fully enjoy my Soundlink out and about, I did. Anyway, 1 year in and my original sound link was having difficulty staying connected to any BT device. To the rescue came the Best Buy Protection Program! It was as easy as 1-2-3! Couldn't have been easier, AND SO glad I purchased it. They evaluated the OG Soundlink and replaced it IN STORE with the model they had in stock, The Soundlink Color 2. AMAZING! I will ALWAYS purchase the extra Geek Squad protection from NOW ON! It was really worth it! Without it, I'd have been out another $130 to get the Soundlink, b/c mine wasn't working right after a little over a year. NOW, onto the new design. I have to say, I'm a fan of the rubberized soft look. It's sharp, sleek, and seems more durable. I haven't put it to the test yet, but I'm a big fan of the splash resistant specs, as I like to listen to the radio in the bathroom while showering (NOT IN THE SHOWER) as it's not waterproof, but the moisture is okay with this one, So I'm happy about that. The BT seems to have better range. I know it technically doesn't say so in the specs, BUT.. As compared to my first speaker this is Noticeably better. When it gets a little warmer, I'll do a real distance check as I did with the first one measuring straight distance and marking out the range without cutoff, but the OG never seemed to make the mark it claimed. This unit seems to hold strong even rooms away. We shall see. So all in all, a thumbs up for the new design and features, and TWO THUMBS UP for BEST BUY! If I typically had shrugged off BB Geek Squad protection in the past, NEVER AGAIN... It was WELL WORTH IT!

Over the years I have tried a lot of bluetooth speakers and considering the size of the speaker I was expecting lower quality sound that what I actually heard. First I want to start of with the construction, the speaker feels good to hold it feels like a well made and sturdy product. It was also very easy to pair to my phone, it has voice prompts that clearly tell you what device the speaker is paired too and also the battery level. Now for the most important part the sound. the speaker sounds fantastic at low to medium level volumes. It can get quite loud if you push the volume up to the max but you lose all of your low end and start to hear some distortion. A little over medium was where i found the sweet spot for sound to be, if you have the volume too low the low end sounds seem to overpower and mids or highs. it does not sound bad at lower volumes but I could tell the difference in sound. Overall I would recommend this product to someone if they would ask me for a good solid sounding bluetooth speaker.

Wow. This speaker is probably one of the best deals out there in sound. I got this speaker expecting somewhat ok sound. When I first listened to it at home, I knew I was in for a treat. The fullness of the sound transcends the capabilities of any speaker I have heard to date. This speaker is so small, so portable, yet it packs a powerful, precise, and pristine punch. I love the clarity and control of the highs and mids and the tight bass is what impressed me the most. Put that sucker in a corner and you have a full sound system! The sound that comes out of this is second to none. Bose really stepped their game up with this version. I am fully impressed by the Soundlink Color II. I like that you can make two phones to it. The multifunction button is also convenient. I use it to pick up and hang up phone calls. The speaker is so small, that when I am in leisure mode, I carry it along with my phone anywhere I go in the house. It sounds even better through an and connection. Outside it sounds wonderful, and sometimes I lay it down right side up to have an omnidirectional setup. Such a versatile speaker. If you're unsure whether to get this or not do not hesitate to get this. It's everything I need and more.

pros: 1. sound - for something this small, it puts out a surprisingly warm sound, with quite a bit of volume relative to its size. a bit of clarity can be lost at high volumes, but for its size, it is quite impressive. 2. size/form factor - i personally am a fan of the form factor, if not the design. i like the small footprint, as opposed to some of the horizontal designs. 3. battery/charging - micro usb charging, supposedly up to 8 hours charge time (depending on volume of course). i've used it in the back yard for a few pool parties and it's lasted several hours at moderate volume with no issues. 4. connectivity - bluetooth or 3.5mm aux input. 5. water resistant - i haven't tested this, but is a nice touch for outdoor use. 6. internal mic for speakerphone calls. not the best quality, but also probably not what you're using this for. cons: 1. dated design - while i do like the form factor, the design appears a bit lackluster to me, though certainly not a bad design by any means. overall, i quite like this little speaker. no real issues with it in my opinion.
