Very disappointed in the sound quality
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love Bose products but this speaker did not compare to the typical quality. Very poor sound quality and volume. Returned and purchased the JBL Charge 4 which has so much better sound quality.

BOSE falls flat on this one
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this speaker and was not pleased with the quality of sound with it. It was as if the rubber coating made the sound muffled and sound like it was in a canyon the whole time. I returned this speaker and purchased the JBL and it is by far a better speaker and sound quality is amazing.

Posted .We appreciate you trying out the SoundLink Color II speaker. The "canyon" effect you are describing sounds very unusual and we can see where that would be frustrating. We hope you try Bose again in the future and encourage you to contact us if any performance features strike you as out of the ordinary. You can reach us at 1-800-379-2073. We are open from Mon. – Fri., 9 AM – 9 PM EST.

Great sounding waterproof speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since this little bluetooth speaker is waterproof, it is the perfect speaker for jamming out in the shower. The sound quality is what you would expect from a Bose product with clear vocals and relatively punchy bass for such a small form-factor.

Posted .Hi Carloslee,
The SoundLink Color II can last up to 8 hours at typical listening volume. If you feel your speaker is underperforming, ensure the latest firmware is installed by going to https://btu.bose.com on a computer and connecting the speaker with the USB cable.
If you continue to experience battery issues, please do contact our customer support team for further assistance. - https://bose.life/2WZOG8Z

Tin sound
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you have an ear for good sound, this is not for you. I realize only so much volume and sound can come from a speaker this size, but this sounds like a 1960’s am radio. Took it back and got the Marshall stockwell. Good sound but big bucks

Poor quality

PLEASE READ: Awesome speaker with Warning
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great speaker. Sounds great, easy to pair, great battery life. But just so you know, the first one we bought had a problem with dropping its charge after just a few hours of being full. There are specific instructions online about how to get the unit to come back on in this situation, and those steps worked. I thought it was odd that it happened so much that several web pages contained the fix. Also I couldn't imagine this would get the reviews it is getting if others had this problem so I took it back for an exchange. The new unit works perfectly and has kept its original charge for the first full week that we've had it. So if yours has this power dropping problem, take it back -- don't just live with it.

OK as speaker phone
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ease of Setup: The speaker came partially charged and ready to go with the default language set to English. The speaker will talk to you in a rather robotic female voice (a feature that can be disabled). Documentation: To say that the documentation that comes with the system is “minimal” is a gross overstatement. To get any useful information about this speaker, you will need to download the user’s manual from the Bose website (https://assets.bose.com/content/dam/Bose_DAM/Web/consumer_electronics/global/products/speakers/soundlink_color_ii/pdf/soundlink_color_ii_PDF_ownersguide_ML.pdf). Charging: The unit is charged via USB only. It comes with a USB cable (standard A to micro B [male:male]), but no “wall wart” for charging with an AC wall outlet. The USB port is rated for 1 amp input, but does not appear to have a problem with my USB power sources at 2.5 amps. The unit charges quickly (@2.5A) and holds a charge for a reasonable period (I have not used it long enough at a stretch to exhaust the battery). Connectivity: The speaker is designed to accept input over a Bluetooth connection and via an auxiliary 3.5mm stereo cable. The implemented version of the Bluetooth protocol is not documented in the user’s guide or online documentation. Bluetooth pairing is accomplished by simply pressing the Bluetooth button on the speaker and selecting “Bose Color II Soundlink” from the source device. Two (or, presumably, more) Bluetooth devices can be paired simultaneously. Only one source will play at a time, but pausing one source will automatically give control to the other. Your speaker could be high jacked by a friend with a long play list. I can find no information on the version of Bluetooth that is implemented in the Bose Soundlink II. The auxiliary source (input jack located by the USB port) is selected using the button with the circle/arrow icon. There is no description of the auxiliary source input or button in the package documentation. You will need to download the user’s manual (see above). The speaker can also be paired using the NFC sensor at the center-top of the device. You will need to download the user’s manual (see above) do get any information on pairing using NFC. Audio quality: Let me start by saying that this is not an audiophile-quality speaker. Anyone expecting high fidelity from this one-piece stereo speaker will be (rightly) disappointed. As with any music system, the quality of the sound is only as good as the weakest component in the stream. For me, the weakest part of this system is the Bluetooth connection. The Bose Soundlink speaker sounds much better when using the wired auxiliary input connected to the line-out of a high-quality audio system. When playing lossless audio files (e.g. FLAC, WAVE, DSD, etc.), the sound quality is notably worse when using the Bluetooth. If your source files are “lossy” (e.g. MP3), the difference between auxiliary and Bluetooth input may not be as noticeable. With left and right channels coming from a single unit with a 4” grill, all separation in the acoustic image is lost and the Bose web site states that two units cannot be paired for better stereo separation. The speaker seems to be tuned for pop music, bass and mid-forward with treble buried beneath. Classical and jazz recordings sound muddy. Speaker phone: This was an unexpected feature and likely the one that I will use the most. Calls are clear on the sending and receiving ends. When paired with a phone, calls can be directed to the Bose Soundlink or to the phone’s speaker and microphone. The microphone on the Bose can also be used to issue voice commands to your Bluetooth device. Since the user’s manual describes using the auxiliary port with a 3.5mm stereo cable, I doubt that it supports microphone functionality through this connection. Bottom Line: Unless you need to share your MP3-quality tunes or phone calls with a group, you are better off with a wired headset or headphones. The Bose Soundlink II works well as a Bluetooth speaker phone and has respectable sound quality for its size and portability when using the auxiliary input jack. Music over Bluetooth suffers from the inherent limitations of the wireless protocol.
