Great Speaker but defective charger connection

Every person I know that has purchased this speaker has experienced the same issue. Unfortunate. Can’t charge unit. Bose s awesome.

Disappointing; buyer beware

I have used it a lot in that period of time, mostly to listen to music from my bluetooth products (iphone and ipad). However, I went to use it last week after recharging it, and it wouldn't turn on at all. I tried a lot of options (different charging cable, different docking station), and nothing worked. I'm going to take it to a local Bose store and see what they tell me. I've read reviews on other web sites, and there are other customers who have experienced the same problems. So, "buyer beware" is a good phrase for this product.

Poor Engineering Design

The problem is the speakers constantly seek a connection and will override your phone's connection to take over. I can be in the kitchen listening to music and the speaker upstairs in my office connects to my phone and takes over. Or I can be in my office on a work call (not even using a speaker) and the speaker in my bathroom connects and takes over the call. Doing some research online, this "feature" was rolled out during a firmware update around 2018-2019 and there's no way to roll back the firmware. This is a poor engineering design with tons of complaints online and this has been going on for 3+ years without Bose engineering doing anything to fix.

The SoundLink Color II keeps track of the last eight devices to have paired and connected with it, dropping the least recently used when a new one is paired. When in Bluetooth mode, the SoundLink Color II searches for and connects to the two most recently connected active Bluetooth-enabled devices. Since you have mentioned the update, I will suggest that you keep the speaker's firmware updated to address the issue you are facing and keep it in top condition. Save yourself the money

I have purchased two Soundlink color speakers in the past year, one only a couple of months ago and neither one of them will turn on or charge. I've researched it and spent way too much time holding buttons down, and putting the plug in or taking it out. Who has time to do all kinds of freaking maneuvers when you want to listen to it? The oldest one had been plugged in and connected to my echo dot for about a year, it worked well enough until just recently. The one that is a few months old had only been used four or five times. It was kept in a case when not in use. I like the sound of Bose, but they won't be getting any more of my hard-earned money. So disappointed. Interestingly enough, they were bought far enough apart that it couldn't have been a bad batch. When I searched the internet for a "fix" there were lots of people having the same problem. Now, $250 dollars and 1 year later I have a blue and orange paperweight because that's all they're good for...grrrrrrr.

Stopped charging

Poor Product and Customer Service

When I contacted Bose to troubleshoot the issue, they determined that it would need to be sent in for repairs. I would have to provide the box to ship it to Bose and it would take 3-4 weeks for repairs. Very disappointing to have a speaker, especially a well renowned brand like Bose, stop working after only 4 months of use and that repairing it would take 3-4 weeks. A nonworking product under warranty should be immediately replaced, the customer should not have to send it in and go without the product they purchased. Disappointed.

When a repair is deemed necessary, we recommend the customer sends it in in a box that will protect the unit during transit, but we provide a pre-paid shipping label, and all service is free of charge if the product is in warranty. Doesn't come with a charger? What's up with that?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm happy with the speaker itself, but I'm really unhappy with the fact that it doesn't come with a charger. You get the cable, but you don't get the adapter or whatever you call the little box that you plug into an outlet, then plug the USB end of the cable into it so you can charge the speaker. I bought this thing for my mother, who is 99 years old, and she isn't much of a technology user and doesn't have any charger/adapters or any place to plug in a USB cord, so here it is Christmas and I can't do anything with this stupid speaker. Best Buy and Bose should both make it very clear that the unit doesn't come with everything you need to charge it.

Not happy, agree disposable

I purchased a sound link speaker last year and it stopped working, with the II out I decided to just get a new one for Christmas. This Dec it also stopped working and won’t charge. This is clearly a known issue with the speaker as there are many reviews and troubleshooting which I did all of. When calling customer service there is nothing they could do but have me buy another. Why would I buy another for 15 dollars off? This is ridiculous and I will no longer support Bose if they aren’t willing to stand behind their products. Too many better companies out there. Being from New England I would have expected more.

Won't work in stereo as claimed

Read through several Help topics on Bose website. None resolved the issue. Decent sound if using one, but don't buy if you're hoping to use in stereo. Very disappointed in this product.

Failed in less than 24 hours

Let's turn the speaker on and press and hold the power button for 10 seconds. It may just need to be reset. Sounds great but has a battery defect

It's strange that both of your speakers have stopped charging! As both speakers are not charging correctly, I would recommend checking the charger you are connecting them to has the correct power rating. The speaker needs a charger that is rated for 5 vDC, 1 A. If the charger you are using is not rated for this, it can cause issues with charging.

The Bose Sound Link Color 2 Has serious issues

The speaker will not turn on after sitting for a few hours without going through a song and dance routine. Have talked to Bose about this very well KNOWN issue and they have no solution. If you don't think this is a common and known issue just do a search on the internet and you will see case after case. You would think a company like Bose could do better!

Sudden death

The sound was great. Battery life left something to be desired. Then it stopped working. Charged over night. It won't even turn on now. Sure hope there is some kind of warranty on this. I'm not in the habit of flushing $130 down the drain.
