Hi Alex, thanks for leaving your feedback on the SoundLink Flex 2nd Gen. You can expect roughly 12 hours at average listening volumes. This can reduce if you play it at maximum volume.

Please see this page for additional troubleshooting assistance regarding shorter than expected battery life. https://bose.life/40b5LQH.

My new favorite portable Bluetooth speaker!

The Bose Soundlink Flex Gen 2 speaker stands out as an impressive portable audio option, offering remarkable sound quality in a compact design. It delivers punchy bass that enhances the listening experience across various music genres. Its IP67 rating ensures robust dust and water resistance, making it an ideal companion for outdoor activities. Additionally, the speaker features a convenient shortcut button, customizable for functions such as party mode, Spotify playlists, or voice assistants like Google or Siri. With built-in microphone capabilities, it also doubles as a speakerphone, making it versatile for various situations. While the Soundlink Flex Gen 2 excels in sound quality and durability, it does have some drawbacks. The battery life, though decent, could be longer compared to other Bluetooth speakers in the same price range. Fully depleting the battery requires up to four hours for a complete recharge, and the absence of quick charge capability may be a downside for users on the go. These factors could influence potential buyers who prioritize prolonged usage without frequent charging. Despite these limitations, the Bose Soundlink Flex Gen 2 has quickly become my favorite portable Bluetooth speaker, surpassing my previous choice, the JBL Flip 6, which I had used for over two years. The Soundlink Flex delivers a superior audio experience that appeals to a broader range of musical tastes. Although the Flip 6 can get slightly louder, the overall sound quality of the Bose makes it a worthwhile consideration, especially for those who appreciate rich audio. For those still using the 1st gen Soundlink, I don’t think there’s enough that Gen 2 offers to justify an upgrade; the battery life and design are the same, with just the addition of the shortcut button. For everyone else, if you’re looking for a portable speaker that combines excellent sound with thoughtful features, the Bose Soundlink Flex Gen 2 is the clear winner.

This speaker was obtained to replace a very old Bluetooth speaker that has fallen behind in features and protocol support. Right away it was a huge improvement. I really liked the way that it uses a built-in voice to announce the status of the speaker, give the battery level, and guide you through pairing your devices. This was a lot better than having to interpret various beeps, flashing LEDs, etc. There’s also a button clearly marked that’s used to pair additional devices, so in no time I had it paired to my smartphone, tablet, etc. The sound is excellent – another improvement over the old unit – and is what you might expect from a company with Bose’s reputation. There’s certainly nothing wrong with the range of available volume and it sounds good at every level that I tried. Volume can be changed with buttons on the unit or from your device, as can pause/play functions. The speaker is a nice size and comes with a short carrying strap on one end. It has some heft to it, which indicates that it has the internal hardware necessary to produce a wide range of frequencies, particularly at the low end. The one minor disappointment is the app that they encourage you to download. It really doesn’t provide much useful information and the EQ feature is very limited. Perhaps Bose just assumes that their sound engineers know what’s best, especially at this price point, and so far I have to agree with them. Overall, the SoundLink Flex II is well worthy of a 5-star rating.

This is a compact Bluetooth speaker with great sound! I have MANY Bluetooth speakers, but I’ve never had a Bose speaker before. This speaker is very easy to handle, there’s no flaps to look for, no extra lights, and no kickstand for it to lean on. The box and packaging materials are made of almost all paper and if I recall correctly, just one piece of plastic adhesive seal for the parchment paper wrap around the speaker. Also included in the box is a USB-A to USB-C cord for charging the speaker. This speaker was very easy to pair with my iPhone. I also downloaded the Bose app for further customization of sound. There is a lot of information available on the app, so don’t hesitate to download it. Much more than I am mentioning here. There’s also access to the owner’s guide and Bose support on it. This speaker talks to you. When you turn it on, it tells you the battery percent, and what device it is connecting to. The voice is very pleasant, but as far as I can tell, there isn’t an option to change the voice, which is a female voice, but I could be wrong. This speaker can be paired with another Bose Bluetooth speaker for Speaker Link mode. This is also done in the app. As I only have this Bose speaker, I haven’t tried this. But it seems pretty fun! The speaker can be hung by the nylon strap on the right end, or however you want to use it. It is waterproof, and can float. Even though the overall width of the speaker is about 2”, the width of the speaker if you just let it stand in standard horizontal mode is 1-1/16”. It’s not very wide, but I haven’t had any problems so far. The sound is great, that's what Bose does, right? The sound can be adjusted through the app. I have listened to a variety of studio recorded and live recorded music, and they all sound great. It kind of gave me goosebumps, actually. So yes, I think this is a really great speaker that is worth your while.

I thought the Bose legacy held up. I guess not. I returned it in one day. I stayed in the store to test the other speakers and heard what i wanted to hear in the JBL Xtreme. I expected the sound on the Bose to be crisp and have depth, and it did not compared to the JBL.

Hi there, I'm sorry to hear you returned your SoundLink Flex (2nd Gen) speaker. While it's true that sound performance is subjective to an extent, the Flex 2nd Gen speaker is also capable of providing the depth and crispness that you mentioned. The Bose app has an Equalizer that can be used to boost or reduce the basses, mids and trebles to your liking. Also, the speaker itself comes with PositionIQ™; this technology adjusts the EQ automatically, based on the speaker's orientation (horizontal, vertical, or on its back). I hope this information is of interest! Warm regards, Fiona M. - Bose Customer Support bose

If you’re looking for excellent sound in a small totally wireless speaker, look no further. With name like Bose you know you’re receiving quality and this speaker is no exception. As an owner of several wireless speakers they have always felt just kinda cheap in the hand, the Sound link flex 2 has a great quality feel. Great weight and a smooth anti slip finish. Easy to use water resistant buttons located on top and a loop on the side to carry it from. In addition to its anti slip coating its aluminum body construction makes it rugged and able to withstand some abuse, which is great when my toddler takes it off the table and runs around the house with it. Connection and setup is a breeze after downloading the BOSE app. The app allows you to customize settings such as the device name and EQ settings. The adjustable EQ is a great feature that some speakers I have used in the past lack. I myself listen to a wide variety of music and being able to adjust for different type of music is great. Now sound quality is something expected from a company such as BOSE and they absolutely delivered with the sound link flex 2. With its small size one would not expect deep rich bass but to my surprise it delivers deep room filling bass accompanied with rich midrange and crisp clean highs. Battery life also is very impressive. With about 14hrs of play time on it the battery was still around 30%. Definitely worth picking up if you’re looking for a Great looking and sounding speaker for your on the go activities.

I've owned Bose products for over 40 years. I've always considered Bose to be a premier manufacturer of great sound equipment but in recent years, I have found the quality and longevity not to be at the same standard I have grown accustom to for Bose products. It seems like they are back with this portable speaker. I needed a new Bluetooth speaker for use on our patio so I decided to try the SoundLink Flex speaker. What I like about it is the fact that Bose doesn't force you to use their app to access your music via iTunes or other streaming services. One of their main competitors force you to use their clunky app to access your music. This is a big benefit of owning Bose vs their main competitor. I also like the size of the unit. It seems large enough to offer good sound quality, but small enough to carry around easily. The device charges with a USB-C cord. I have had the unit playing for several hours without the need for a recharge. When I first used the speaker, I was concerned about the sound quality as it seemed compressed - especially in the mid and high range spectrum. By using the app, I was able to adjust these levels and started to enjoy the Bose quality sound that I expect. I'm not sure what the strap does at the end of the unit. I'm sure it has a use, but it takes away from the look of the speaker.

As expected with a Bose product - this does not disappoint! It is a quality made wireless speaker!! It is weighs a little over a pound and is silicone wrapped, shock, drop and rust resistant wireless/Bluetooth speaker. It was packaged really well and came with a short charging USB-C cord - you will need a wall cube though. The Bluetooth connection is strong up to about 30 feet from the source. The charge lasts about ~12 hours of play time. The sound is small yet mighty and at higher volumes it gets a little distorted but not enough to say it is a negative. Using the Bose app was easy to load and connection to Bluetooth was seamless. I actually used the QR code and it took me right where I needed to be to access it. The portability of this speaker is a plus, at the pool, to the beach, hooking it to take on walks, rides etc. was super simple with the attached loop. It is dust proof and waterproof so using outside by the pool or at the beach was definitely a plus. It is easy to turn on with side buttons, volume and skip buttons too, and it can be used flat, hung up, or on its side and still have great volume.

The package contains a USB-C to USB-A cable and the speaker long with standard documentation. It is a nice size and slipped easily into the side pocket of my backpack/laptop case. I was able to run for 8 hours without any problems and it charged in less than half that time. The speaker is well built and although light, has some heft due to the metal content - it feels like a quality piece of electronics, as one would expect from Bose. The unit is supposed to be water tight and float for half an hour but I don't intend on testing it! The programmable shortcut option to connect to Spotify was handy as I listen to podcasts regularly. I haven't had the need to use it for a phone call yet, but that is also a nice feature to have. The setup using the Bose App and the installation and use of the app in general was easy and intuitive. It took me only a few minutes from start to finish - very nice. I would recommend this for people who need a quality sound and call option when travelling or when listening out of doors.

I'll admit up front- I have a big Bluetooth speaker and headphone problem. I have a huge collection of headphones and Bluetooth speakers made by a number of various vendors. I'm constantly trying out new models in search of that perfect look and sound. I'm approaching my review of the 2nd Generation Bose Soundlink Flex speaker as a long time user of the 1st generation model. I've owned the 1st gen since 2022 and have become a very big fan of it. The sound on the 1st gen was terrific, the build was solid, and it quickly became one of my favorite Bluetooth speakers out of my oversized collection. I was looking forward to what Bose had in store for the 2nd generation. The design of the 2nd generation Flex has not changed much. It's basically the same dimensions and weight. It's the same weather resistant rubber like coating with a handy strap attached. The only port on it is for the USB-C charging connection. They moved a few buttons on the top around, replaced the multi-function button with a new shortcut button, and added a dedicated bluetooth button but, this 2nd gen unit definitely followed the followed the old adage "if it ain't broke, why fix it?". It is nearly identical to the 1st gen unit, which is a plus. That's a good thing as the ergonomics of the 1st gen was great. The unit connects to the Bose App so you can configure the sound and reprogram the shortcut button. I thought the sound out of the box was great, so I didn't spend much time messing around the app configuring things. The shortcut button comes preset for stereo pairing two Bose units, but you can configure it for starting Spotify (which I don't use) or kick off your voice assistant. I didn't play with this much either. As for the sound, it continues to be outstanding for a speaker of this size. It has very rich sound, with perfectly acceptable base. The unit gets LOUD too without too much distortion. I've used it for indoor parties, outdoor parties, and as a speaker near out hot tub. It performed great in each location. I especially appreciated the weatherproofing on it as it has been rained on and accidentally dipped into our hot tub and kept on going. Do I have any disappointments with the Flex? A few, but they are very minor. I wish it had a 3.5mm input jack for hardwiring in sound sources that lack bluetooth. Not a huge issue for most people, I have some older equipment I would have liked to have connected to the unit. A 3.5mm jack may have made waterproofing it harder though. The only other issue I had was with the stereo pairing. You can pair two Flex (or a number of other BOSE speakers) together into a stereo pair. Great option to have, but I was unable to pair my 1st gen Flex with the 2nd gen Flex. This wasn't too surprising as I suppose the technology has changed over the years. It ws disappointing though. As an owner of the 1st gen, I don't want to get rid of it, have to buy a second 2nd gen unit to get stereo pairing when my 1st gen is still working perfectly. Again, small nit. Overall you can't go wrong with the Bose Soundlink Flex. It's got great sound, is rugged enough to take almost anywhere, and works great in the Bose ecosystem.
