But not sure if it’s a manufacturing error or if I got a defected speaker. For some reason when the bass goes it sounds like a blown speaker unless the area where you charge it is covered by a cloth or piece of tape. It tends to rattle and makes the sound quality very poor

If you're having to cover the charging port to prevent the speaker from rattling or losing audio quality, then this is certainly not normal. Try resetting your speaker by turning it on, and then pressing and holding the Power button for 10 seconds.
