Sounds Nice Enough, Old Bluetooth for $

It has a very old Bluetooth version for a recently released product and a price tag that doesn't match such an oversight. Pairing to Bluetooth requires the Bose app, and initial setup very problematic. Had to reattempt setup multiple times before it finally paired. Now that it is paired it works fine, but the app appears to no longer be able to connect to it and check for updates. It also seems to appear in Bluetooth settings as 2 different devices, its name and an le- prefixed name for no discernable reason.

The speaker uses the same Bluetooth 4.2 chip that Bose has used in many other speakers, building on our years of interoperability experience and rigorous testing to offer a strong and highly reliable connectivity experience. The le- prefix stands for Low Energy, which is used for easy quick connecting to the speaker via the Bose Connect app. It also allows the speaker to maintain a connection to a second device for easy switching between the two.
