Easy setup and great sound for such a small device

Great audio for the size. Strap gives a lot of flexibility. App support is great and allows for EQ. Perfect for my main use case which is just listening to podcasts in the shower.

Bose SoundLink Micro 2nd Generation
Great Sounding, very compact speaker with a rich mellow sound. Base is great for its size, yet the highs are clear and crisp. Very easy on the ears, as it doesn’t sound weak, tinny, or distort at high volumes. Volume can be very loud considering its size. It’s nice that its doesn’t start clipping or distort at full volume.
I like this Bose because it will connect with my Bose Sound bar to act as an extension speaker using SimpleSync. It will also easily connect directly to my phone via Bluetooth 5.4 version with a ranger up to 30ft. This model will also allow another compatible speaker to be connected to it for twice the sound.
I enjoy the new 12-hour battery life compared to 6 hours on the original Micro Speaker. However, the original speaker did offer a microphone for answering calls, this new model does not. USB-C is now the charging method which is very welcome. This model is waterproof with an IP67 rating.
Overall, I really like the size and sound of this speaker. It’s easy to take along, has good battery life, and it sounds very good. The fact that I can’t answer phone calls with this speaker is not a deal breaker. I prefer the upgraded Bluetooth, USB-C charging, and the ability to connect multiple speakers as more important. Overall, I would recommend this speaker to anyone wanting a small compact sound source.

There are so many of these tiny micro Bluetooth speakers in this category to choose from. With a solid name like Bose behind this one, I just had to give it a try!
Out of the box you can tell this is a well-made product. It feels solid in your hand and is clearly made with quality materials. I wouldn’t expect anything less from Bose. It has an IP67 rating meaning that it is completely submersible (yes, I tried it) in water up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes. The 6 in IP67 means it has complete protection against dust, and the 7 means it is protected from water ingress during short-term submersion. So that means you don’t have to worry about this getting wet, dusty, or completely dropped in the water. It will have no problem handling any of it. Just for fun I put it in a bowl filled with water while it was on and playing music and it continued to play completely underwater without any problems.
Getting it connected is very simple. I already have a Bose sound bar, so I already had the Bose app installed on my phone. I just clicked add a new device and turned on the speaker and I was connected and up and running in no time! In the app you can adjust things like changing the source and setting the EQ. There are 4 preset EQ settings, you are also able to adjust the bass, mid, and treble individually from -10 to +10. Unfortunately, if you get a custom EQ setting you like, there is no way to save it. So, if you switch to one of the presets, you lose that custom EQ setting you have created. Maybe that is something Bose can fix in the future with an update. Would be nice to have at least one, if not a few custom EQ presets that you can save.
Now let’s get into the sound quality of this thing. I have owned quite a few of these small speakers and was able to compare them to the sound of this Bose. I will say that this sounds better than any other speakers in this category that I have tried. But that comes with one small caveat. If you go above 40-50% volume on this, it actually starts to sound pretty bad. I listen to a lot of rock and metal type music with a good amount of bass to it. Unless I set the bass level in the negatives, the speaker will start popping with every bass drum hit if the volume is above 50%. Granted, 50% volume will be a pretty good level for most people if you are in a small space which is where you would most likely use a speaker like this. But if you plan to really crank this up, you will drastically have to cut the bass levels and anything you are listening to will sound flat or tinny. With a lot of modern rock/metal type music, if I keep the volume at about 40% and have the bass between like +3 to +7 it actually sounds pretty good and I hear nice rich bass (for a small speaker like this).
It also doesn’t have any kind of microphone, so you wouldn’t be able to use it as a speakerphone like you can with some of these small speakers.
They claim a 12 hour battery life, although I haven’t played it quite that long to test out if that is accurate or not. But it easily played through my 8 hour workday.
So, if you are looking for a good quality speaker that can handle water and dust and wont ever need to really crank it up. I don’t think you will find a better speaker than this! If you like your music loud and thumping, you will probably be better off searching elsewhere.

This is my first Bose product, and I must say I am really impressed by its performance. I have several Bluetooth speakers ranging from the Marshall Emberton III to the JBL Authentics 500. This small and very portable speaker is a great addition to the group. At roughly 4” square this is a very compact and portable speaker. There appear to be a number of upgrades from the long running Gen 1 Micro. The new Gen 2 now claims 12 hours of battery life compared to the previous versions 6 hours. USB-C charging is now the standard. Bluetooth 5.4 allows for pairing to 2 devices. You can also pair 2 speakers together for stereo sound. There is also an improved adjustable canvas strap and a loop on top for attaching to something like a carabiner. One change that Bose made that I really like is they placed the Bluetooth pairing button on the front of the speaker next to the volume and play/pause buttons instead of on the bottom of the speaker on the Gen 1. And there is now an EQ in the app. Bose claims the speaker is IP67 waterproof but there is no cover over the USB port so I would be reluctant to submerge this speaker. The speaker was very easy to set up. After downloading the app just connect the speaker and you can adjust the EQ and pair an additional speaker. The EQ has preset options for increasing or decreasing the bass and treble however you cannot chose more than 1 of these options at a time. There is a slide EQ that allows you to adjust the bass, midrange and treble independently so if you chose one of the presets and want to make more fine adjustments you can. Bose claims the speaker has a single full range driver and 2 passive radiators. Not sure how they package that many speakers in such a small speaker, but it works. I connected the speaker to my phone and to a portable Bluetooth CD player and they both worked great. I have been using the speaker with the CD player, and it sounds amazing for its size. After EQing the speaker to my liking, I was amazed at how well this speaker performed. The speaker has a very clear and open sound, and I was shocked at how loud it can get. The speaker easily filled a fairly large space and could be heard from 30 feet away. If there was one thing I would like to see is to have the base of the speaker be a little wider. Unless it is on a totally flat surface it is not all that stable. After an incredible run of the first generation Bose Micro, I think Bose has really made significant and beneficial improvements to the Gen 2. This is a very impressive and value packed Bluetooth potable speaker that is definitely worth checking out.

This speaker is amazing. It has IP67 rating, so it can handle a drop in a pool for about 30 minutes in 3 foot of water. I personally have never felt a need to test this. And knowing this speaker can do it, it still does not make me want to try it out.
The sound is excellent. What is surprising isn't just the sound quality, but the volume it can attain. We have much larger speakers that can not get as loud as this little 4 inch marvel.
We use to roll this huge party speaker out by the pool daily. Now we just grab this little guy and get better sound and louder.
You can set up the shortcut button to open Spotify with one click. I expect there will be more options for shortcuts in the future.
Battery life seems to be pretty stellar. We were out by the pool for a few hours and used less than 10% of the battery according to the app saying it was 90% charged. I was able to charge it from around 40% when i received it to 100% in about an hour. I did not time it, but it was at least an hour.
It really is lightweight and can fit in any bag. With the IP67 rating taking it to the beach or by the pool is safe, even if it rains. One thing at the beach, there is not a cover over the USB type C port, so sand could easily get in there. I would recommend covering the port just to be safe.
Highly recommended for big sound in a small package.

Wow, the Bose Soundlink Micro Portable Speaker is an amazing option. For anyone looking for a portable Bluetooth speaker, look no further. It is built like a tank. It has a sleek finish. Capable of withstanding any drops or hard use. It may be a small speaker but it puts out Big Sound!
In the box, you get the compact speaker. The Soundlink Micro also comes with a strap. So if you like to exercise, you can attach it to your arm or any other accessory. It's if they built this for the outdoor individual in mind. With the amazing build quality and the arm strap being two main factors.
Unlike some other Bluetooth devices, the Bose Soundlike Micro 2 easily connected with the phone's Bluetooth. It was an instant connection which I was happy to see. After it was connected, I played some tunes. Man, the amazing quality coming out of this small compact device is crazy. I know Bose is known for their audio quality but wow. The Sound was on the other side of the house, and I could still hear it. The volume wasn't turned up loud either. , I have yet to see how high the volume gets.
I would like to see a longer battery life. They claim it gets 12 hours which isn't bad for a micro speakr. It does mean you may be charging it everyday, depending on your useage.

This is my first smaller portable Bluetooth speaker, as well as first Bose product I've owned purposely.
I find it connects seamlessly to my Samsung Galaxy tab 9 ultra as well as my Samsung Galaxy s25 ultra phone without any issues. Sounds decent for a small portable speaker obviously there's not much if at all base to it.
I've always stayed away from those products, this one isn't too bad for the price although I'm sure there's other alternatives that are very comparable within this price range in size. The highs are definitely clear on this little speaker just barely any base but it is about a 4x4x2 cube.
Battery life is pretty decent after 5 days of off and on use the battery's still around 60%. I like that it can be attached to a handlebar like my electric scooter I just don't trust the small velcro strap to stay on the handlebars since my scooter will easily do 30 mph on and off road.
All in all it's not a horrible little Bluetooth portable speaker for its size, I wouldn't have a problem recommending it.

I've had many Bose speakers throughout the years, and the Bose Soundlink is another great addition to their portable Bluetooth lineup. It's waterproof, has 12 hours of battery life, and sounds great. My only complaints are the lack of bass and the rubber housing.
SOUND:
This speaker sounds great at all volumes but lacks a punchy bass. The mids and highs sound incredible but the bass lands flat. It's somewhat expected for speakers this size but even with that expectation, the SoundLink micro left me wanting more. You can use SimpleSync to connect the Micro with other Bose Speakers via their app to get some more punch, but I'm not sure I'd ever use this feature. The ability to sync stereo sounds great in theory but I don't believe this speaker adds enough to warrant a Bose jam session.
BUILD / FORMFACTOR:
Bose positions this speaker as being "pocket sized" but I personally don't have any pockets that would fit the Micro. It might not fit in a pocket, but it is defiantly small enough to strap to a golf cart or bike handlebars using the built-in strap. The outer rubberized shell feels premium and makes cleaning the speaker easy. I do wish the outer rubber case was removable because I can see debris getting trapped underneath - I think I might have screwed up the rubber housing on mine because I did initially think it could be removed. Learn from my mistake, don't try to remove any rubber on this speaker.
OVERALL:
The Bose SounLink Micro is a no-brainer option if you are in the market for a small portable speaker you can take to the golf course or strap on your beach bag. I do wish Bose could work some magic to pump in some more bass, but the sound from the micro is defiantly above average compared to other speaker I own in this segment. I've never been disappointed with the quality and sound of all the speakers I've owned from Bose and the streak continues with this 2nd Gen Micro Portable.

Bose just keeps making more amazing speakers. I have always been a huge fan of Bose, but this little speaker is simply amazing. And it IS little. Easily fits in the palm of your hand but does not sound small in anyway. The sound is amazing with the typical Bose deep bass. I was surprised at the amount of bass something so small can produce. Setup is super simple using the Bose Music app. This is a huge plus that this small speaker uses the very impressive Bose Music app. The speaker itself is solid, appearing to be very well built. It is a tad bit heavy, but I’m sure that is a reason for the great sound. There is a loop at the top to hang the speaker. But more useful is the built in Velcro strap on the back which provides great versatility in mounting the speaker while keeping it portable. The battery charges with a standard USB cable. Battery life is impressive given the kind of sound it is producing. This speaker far exceeded my expectations, and I have no hesitation in recommending it. There is really nothing negative to say about it.

I had one of the first generation micro speakers from Bose and my husband and I loved it. He kind of took it over to listen to music because he liked it too. When I received the new second generation micro speaker, this one was for me. It has all the great features of the first, such as great sound, a nice sensorial touch when you touch it and small little upgrades like a cloth loop on the top and an upgraded attachment on the back. It came with a charging cable, which is always appreciated. The controls are easy to use and are basically the same as the first generation. Bluetooth pairing was a snap, thank goodness. I use Pandora, Amazon Music and Sirius as my music sources on my phone and all sound amazing from this small compact speaker. I swear that Bose is the best out there!, but that is just my opinion. I use the speaker at night when I cannot go to sleep and play sleeping music, or meditation for sleep and it works great! I do notice that when I wake up from a night of sleeping, the music is not paying any more. I have to been able to figure out yet is it because the music service stopped, or did the speaker get disconnected. Not sure yet, but will. Get this Bose Micro Speaker, you will not be disappointed! Way smaller than these bigger speakers out there and I think with better sound! Highly recommend!

This Bose speaker came nicely packaged from my carrier. Unboxing you get the speaker and a charging cord. Over the years I’ve become a frequent user of little small speakers like this one that are portable and have multiple connective options. Whether it’s to use in the office , outside for the day at the pool or park, or just inside to have at low volume while reading I seldom live my life without. Now what is important to me on a portable speaker like this is ease of use and quality of sound. Battery life is somewhat relevant for me but not like super critical because I’m mostly working and at a desk so I can easily charge it. Now sound quality I mean that’s always important and you know Bose never lets down in this regard. Obviously the speaker is limited by its physical size so don’t expect your neighbors to get mad at you if you play it max volume lol. But with Bose I always feel like it’s a clean mix of mids highs and lows and their speakers always sound clean without distortion at higher volumes. For the size it’s got some punch. I like this speaker 5 stars
