Small package, great sound!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bottom Line: The Bose Soundlink Micro Portable Speaker (2nd Gen) delivers fantastic sound in a small, versatile design that is well suited for showers, backpacks, bikes, and more. Pros: compact design; useful straps; easy to use; can connect multiple devices; surprisingly good bass; loud. Cons: can be stood upright, but not super stable. Review: Bose is known for high quality sound, and the Soundlink Micro delivers on that expectation. Mids are very crisp and come across well. In general, the speaker also does a good job with high frequencies (e.g., the high-hat in “Beat It” by Michael Jackson is very crisp), but in some instances, particularly with sync sounds, highs can get muddy. Bass performance is surprisingly good; it’s tight and punchy, which comes across exceptionally well in songs like “Boom Boom Pow” by the Black Eyed Peas. That said, this is an ultraportable device and buyers should not expect room shaking bass performance from this speaker. Sounds across lows, mids, and highs are tuned and balanced very well, and the speaker delivers exceptional quality for its size. Last, it's loud enough that I can put it at the top of my yard and listen to music throughout the entire yard. Setting up and using the speaker is very easy. Buttons are clearly marked, and connecting multiple devices was easy and straightforward. One of the features I really like is that when you turn on the speaker, it announces what devices are connected via Bluetooth. The app features for this speaker are minimal. You an adjust low, mid, and highs (just those categories, not individual frequencies) in the equalizer, and set up connections for multiple speakers if you have them. The Soundlink Micro is definitely designed for use on the go. There are two nylon straps. The first is a closed loop on the top, which would allow you to hang the speaker from something using a carabiner or other hook. For instance, one could hang it from a backpack during hiking or around a tree branch when camping. The other is Velcro strap on the back, which is designed to attach the speaker to a bar. Some obvious uses for my family would be shower or towel bars in the bathroom as well as bike handles, since we take a lot of bike rides. This version of the speaker can also be stood upright on a flat surface, which is helpful for those who want to place it on a table or desk. However, the speaker is pretty narrow, which means the slightest bump will knock it over. Additionally, you can’t really stand it up on an uneven surface, and so if you’re outside you’ll probably want to lean it up against something if you’re not going to hang it.

Amazing Little Speaker That Sounds Great
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Bose SoundLink Micro (2nd Gen) proves that big sound can come in a very small package. Designed for portability and durability, this speaker is perfect for anyone who wants high-quality audio on the go whether you're hiking, traveling, or just relaxing at home. Sound Quality For its size, the sound is impressive. Bose delivers clear vocals, balanced mids, and punchy bass that outperforms most speakers in this ultra-compact category. It stays crisp at moderate volumes, though like many small speakers, it can compress slightly at max volume. Portability & Design This speaker is truly pocket-sized and ultra lightweight. The rugged, rubberized exterior and improved utility strap make it easy to attach to a backpack or bike. It’s built to handle rough use and outdoor adventures without worry. Durability With an IP67 rating, the SoundLink Micro (2nd Gen) is both waterproof and dustproof. It can survive drops, splashes, and even brief submersion, making it ideal for beach trips, poolside use, or camping. Battery Life & Connectivity Battery life is solid at up to 12 hours, a noticeable upgrade from the previous generation. It also features USB-C charging and Bluetooth 5.4 for a more stable, longer-range connection.

Versatile, powerful and small!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing little portable speaker. Came in a small box and felt super sturdy. They include just a charging USB cable. Once you have it on your hand, it feels amazing. Has like a silicone feel and feels well made and sturdy. I love they include a removable strap, this I use all the time when I go on my bicycle rides out in the woods. Normally I wear earbuds but when I go out to the woods, I don't like using them, so this speaker lets me still listen to music. Speaking of, the volume and and sound quality are great. Sound is crips and has some bass to it. I love that I can crank up the volume super high and it will not distort, I have tried up to 90 and it was ok. I do like to fully charge my electronic devices when I get them, and I fully charged this little guy (glad it has a new Type C USB port), and wow, it really took a long while to fully do so (you don't need to, just some charge will give you plenty of music time), but I'm OCD like that. Once fully charged I connected it to my phone via Bluetooth. I'm very impressed on how fast it connects to it (I don't know if its my phone or the speaker, but I have other devices and they don't connect that fast...). Battery life has been amazing and had only had to top it off here and there before using it. They have their own app with some settings like EQ, updates etc. and you can program their shortcut button, I have mine setup to launch my Spotify. If you want a small portable speaker with great quality, durability (its weather proof) and battery life, this is the one for you!

Outstanding Sound from a Little Speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will start by saying this speaker will blow your mind, and I have never said that about a product before. The sound is incredible from such a small speaker that compares to much larger Bluetooth speakers. Pros: 1. Sound quality. Sound quality. Sound quality. 2. Build quality. 3. Ease of setup and connection. Cons: 1. Buttons are hard to press. 2. Can’t stand vertically. 3. No skip or replay track buttons. Build Quality: This speaker has a very nice feel and weight to it and feels like it should be a much more expensive speaker than it is. It is a little heavy but that is part of the reason it feels so well made. Expect it to weigh down your bag a little. Except for the back, which is made of plastic, it is completely covered in a high-quality rubber wrap, I assume to make it waterproof. It is small enough you can take it anywhere. One thing is that it does not stand vertically, only flat on the table. I tried holding it up vertically and it sounds different than flat on the table. There is a strap on the back to hold it onto things such as bars, and the nice part is that it connects and resizes with Velcro, so it is very easy to adjust the size and attach and detach, unlick a rubber strap found on other speakers. There is a loop so you can hook it onto things although it does spoil the look of it. Set Up: I used this with my Pixel 10 Pro and set it up couldn’t be easier. As soon as I turned on the speaker, the phone prompted me to see if I wanted to set up a connection to it. It then prompted me to see if I wanted to download the app. No need to search for it in the Play Store. I have had no connection problems at all. The speaker also supports multipoint connection. Sound Quality: Sound quality is where this speaker really shines. I can’t stress this enough. It compares to a much larger Bluetooth speaker. The mids and highs are crystal clear, while the lows are very strong, which is a pleasant surprise from such a small speaker. The sound is so full and fills the room. There is an equalizer in the app, but you probably won’t need it. Buttons: This is where things are not doing so well. The buttons are very hard to press, and you need to apply a lot of force. I assume this is because of the rubber covering them. You also don’t get any tack tile feedback when they are pressed. There are buttons for Bluetooth device select, volume, and play/pause, a multifunctional button but strangely next and previous track buttons are missing. The power button is on the bottom next to the charging port. You must briefly click it to turn it on and off, unlike most other devices that require you to hold it down for a second or two. If you do hold it down, nothing happens, and it doesn’t power up. Just something to keep in mind so you don’t think it is broken like I did. The multifunction button can be set up to either speaker link or Spotify, which is kind of limited. Connections: There is only one connection, a USB-C port on the bottom to charge it. App: The app is simple but has all the features you need, and it is easy to locate them. It always shows the speaker as connected when it is powered on. No problems with that, unlike other apps that sometimes can’t detect the device. There is a three band EQ which does change the sound somewhat, but don’t expect huge changes. There are four EQ presets, Bass Boost, Treble Boost, Bass Reducer, and Treble Reducer. You can also adjust the 3 band EQ by dragging the EQ on the screen up or down. Maybe there should be a five-band EQ, but three bands are probably enough depending on how finely you want to adjust the sound, and because of the sound quality, you may not even need the EQ at all. There is a button so you can select the Bluetooth source you want to listen to if there is more than one. It shows the battery percentage left. There is a slider control to change the volume. Under settings, you can change the name of the device, add new devices for the speaker to connect to or select the one you want to use. There is a way to change the usage of the shortcut button, and change the EQ. You can change to auto off time, if you want voice prompts for battery percentage when the speaker is powered on, and if you want voice prompts for when a connection is made. You can also update the firmware from the app. Conclusion: Putting aside all the other positives, the sound quality alone is a reason to buy it. The buttons are hard to press but that is really my only major complaint. On a scale of 1 to 5, I give this a 6, and it is very rare that I say that. I insist that if you are looking for a small Bluetooth speaker, get this one.

Big Bold Bose Sound in a Tiny Package
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TLDR: I'm one of the first ones to hate on Bose, but this is a really nice product with sound bigger than its size. PROS Software works perfectly on Android & iOS Multi-Point Connections to multiple devices True Verbal Feedback & Voice Announcements CONS Battery life is only fair Limited options for shortcut button SET-UP AND INITIAL CONFIGURATION I give Bose major props for their apps. They have done an equally good job with their Android app as they did their iOS app. Neither version of the app had any issues during installation or set-up. I wish all manufacturers devoted this amount of time and attention to their software. In today's day and age, your product HAS to work as well on an Android platform as it does on an iOS platform. Initial pairing and configuration is remarkably simple. The Bose app may very well set the new standard for simplicity and functionality. It's layout is clean, simple, intuitive, and most importantly works without issue. It's not an app that tries to be your one-stop shop for all your playback needs. Nope. It manages the speaker, exactly what its supposed to do. USE I'll fully admit it. There is a love/hate relationship with me and Bose products. They make products I love to hate. To be fair, their QuietComfort headphones do set the gold standard for noise cancelling headphones. Just look at the people who travel frequently for a living. A vast majority of them will have a set of Bose headphones for travel. They are a great product, that sets the standard for other manufacturers to strive to. Unfortunately, in my opinion, that is their one and only product I have ever really cared for. The Bose sound just doesn't do it for me. Whether it is a home theater set-up or premium audio in a car, it just falls short. Again, my opinion, not any scientific fact. I was all set to hate on the little SoundLink Micro. But, I can't. The SoundLink Micro sounds WAY bigger and fuller than it has any right to. The little, rubberized portable speaker sounds bigger than many products twice its size. I was taken aback when I first fired up some of my favorite country tracks. Thinking it was a fluke, I switched over to my go-to hard rock and metal selections. This genre did find the limits of the Bose. There is just so much you can do with the laws of physics. But, even with the most demanding tracks, the Bose held its head high and gave its all. I was surprised at just how full and rich the sound was from such a small speaker. I have similar sized speakers I've tested in the past and the Micro puts them ALL to shame. The sound is robust and dynamic. Yes, at higher volume levels, the sound does get muddy, but you have to be really working the Micro to get to that point. Excellent work Bose. BATTERY LIFE I did find that with such a small speaker, I was playing it a little louder than most others I have. Because of this, I'm finding that battery life is just fair. My battery seems do drain about 10% for every 4 to 5 tracks I listen to. Not horrible, but certainly not class leading. I would highly advise a portable battery pack if you want to make it a full day at the pool or beach with the Micro. FINAL THOUGHTS The Bose SoundLink Micro Gen 2 is a worthy upgrade over its predecessor, changing a few things for the better while not messing with the initial recipe that has been successful. A redesigned Velcro strap and carabiner loop make it more user friendly. A dedicated shortcut button on the front of the Micro can be set-up to open Spotify or pair it instantly with another SoundLink Micro for fuller stereo sound. The only thing I would like to see is more options available for the shortcut button. Maybe configurable for Amazon Music, or YouTube Music, etc. instead of just Spotify and pairing to another Micro? Other than that, there isn't anything not to like about the Micro. If you already have Bose products, this is a no-brainer. If you are like me and never really give Bose a chance, you should give it a go. It may just change your opinion like it did mine. RECOMMENDED

Great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The product lives up to its reputation. The speaker feels smooth and the strap is helpful. The connection to smartphones is good and battery life is decent. Nice part is I do not even need to use it at full volume. Between 50-60% is loud enough.

Tiny portable speaker with a powerful punch
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Being one of the most recognizable names in the sound industry, Bose continues to innovate and refine their products while not trying to keep up with the Jones’ and continue down the same successful paths they’ve paved in that industry. That continues to hold true with their updated SoundLink Micro 2 Bluetooth speaker which is a convenient audio device you can take with anywhere. Unboxing the SoundLink Micro 2, setting it up and syncing it with your Bose Companion smartphone app was a breeze. I was ready to crank it up and rock out within 10 minutes minus the time it took to charge it to 100%. The buttons are conveniently placed and easy to understand with the power button located on the bottom near the USB-C charging port and the Bluetooth, volume, play/pause and shortcut link, which you can use to link Bose speakers as well as other options available in the app, are all located on the front of the speaker. On the back of the speaker is the strap you can use to mount it to things such as a bike handle, bag strap and much more. The speaker itself is so small, shall we say micro, measuring approximately 4” squared by 1.5” thick, that you can even tote it around in your pocket or purse. Now, regarding the sound, it’s everything you would expect from a Bose product with its deep lows and crisp highs somehow crammed in this tiny device. After walking around with it in my pocket, I even had someone ask how my phone speaker is so loud. It’s a perfect fit for those who like to walk around with their phones playing on their body, like our housecleaner does, and does not prefer to be confined and shut out by headphones or earbuds that can cancel the ambient noise around them. I find it convenient when I’m working around the house, in the yard or on a bike ride and don’t want to subject others to my loud music playing on larger speakers playing for everyone to hear. The other thing I’ll be using this speaker for is travel as it fits unknowingly inside a carry-on or purse for use once I arrive at poolside or on the beach at my destination. And with the second generation, the ability to quickly pair it with other compatible Bose speakers, you’ll be blowing everyone’s minds and eardrums with ease. I would like to note that at maximum, or near max, volume and with the bass turned up in the equalizer feature located within the app, I did notice distortion and rattling so I would recommend dialing down the bass at high volumes to reduce the distortion while still being able to enjoy the great sound. Considering its small size, portability and powerful punch, I think it would be a perfect addition to anyone’s audio arsenal and would definitely recommend it especially at this price point.

Micro device - big sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned my fair share of Bose products over the years, most of the time they get it right; other times the results are less than satisfactory; most of the failures are in the category of "could do better for the money." That's not the case here, The price is reasonable, and given that this is a second generation product, they've had the opportunity to better the features. My original thought in obtaining the Micro was a bit unusual. I have a 24" tv in the kitchen; as you would expect, the sound is less than satisfactory from the built-in speakers. I wanted to get either a tiny soundbar or a set of small computer speakers, but couldn't find anything that the wife wouldn't give a thumbs down to. I hooked the Micro to the tv's Bluetooth, and voila - instant soundbar. Unfortunately, there was a bit of lip sync delay that I couldn't cure via the Bose app, so went on to other things. Connectivity was not an issue out of the box. I already had the Bose app for a soundbar, the Micro hooked up to it right away, and gave me equalizer options for the device. You can also use the Micro as a secondary device to the soundbar. Seems kind of redundant, but I thought - what if I was watching a game, and had a rest room call; or the dog had one, or some other errand. I could take the micro with me and keep up with the program - limited of course to the range of the Bluetooth. But obviously, the best use for the Micro is with your phone. It immediately picked up my Pixel 9. It can function as a speakerphone, or as a contact point for Alexa. And then there's the music - and this is where the Micro shines. It's nearly impossible to comprehend the bass that this tiny box can generate, or for that matter, the overall sound quality. I have a couple of name brand portable speakers, all of them way larger than the Micro, and they don't come close. It's a truly beguiling little magic box. So don't be put off by the size, and considering the Bose quality packed into it, its a pretty good value for the buck.

Great sounding small speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everyone knows Bose, they carry the name of premium sound more than any other company, they have had some small speakers they've made and each one sounds better than the last. Packaging: To start, packaging is straightforward, it's a small box with limited documentation, a cord and the speaker itself. It is well packaged though, that as you open the box it presents the speaker to you almost as a gift, it hints a premium without wasting money on packaging. Device and Use: The device is small, but sounds incredibly good. It's made of that soft-touch rubbery material that feels nice to hold. Connectivity is instant and straightforward, just turning the device on it appeared in a popup on my phone requesting to connect which was done with one button. The sound itself is incredible, especially for something so small. It's easy to use, gets loud, plays well and really has a great depth of sound. It is not tinny and has good bass for the size. Overall: If you're in the market for a small bluetooth speaker and want something with good size, good sound and excellent battery life, I strongly recommend it.

Cons: Not too many. An analog in jack would be nice. Mobile app lacking some features, equalizer needs more range.
