Bought two to be used this way, so I had to return them.

When you don't want to wear earphones while listening to music the Bluetooth connection is fantastic. Easy to pair devices and a decent battery life. Uses a USB connection to recharge; however, I bought the charger adaptor from Bose so I can charge it faster.

It seems to have a pretty good range. It sounds a bit better than the JBL Clip 3 I use for listing to audio books I play from a different device. I had decided I wanted a Bluetooth speaker specifically for use with my phone and I am happy with my purchase. :)
