This was a birthday present for my husband. I had already purchased another brand and gave him the choice of which to keep. He immediately choose this one and is extremely pleased with the choice.

THE SPEAKER HAS THE SAME VOLUME AS SOME SPEAKERS THAT ARE MORE THAN TWICE IT'S SIZE, BUT I WAS EXPECTING IT TO BE A BIT LOUDER. HOWEVER, THE SOUND QUALITY IS EXCELLENT, SO I THINK IT'S A KEEPER. I WILL LOOK INTO SOMETHING LARGER WITH MORE BOOST NEXT TIME.

This is the newest Speaker in the Bose Portable speaker segment and is a great speaker with a few issues. Inside the box: You get the speaker itself Manuals USB type C to type C cable and AC adapter As for the speaker itself it's easy to setup you on Android and iPhones. This speaker as far as I know is the first product that supports multi link so you can have two phones connected to it at the same time and switch between them both. The only problem with this is that it has no microphone so you can't use it as a speakerphone. Also this supports snapdragon sound so it supports Apt X adaptive but not the older apt x. So you can get only AAC, or SBC on the major Android phones out like Samsung or Google. Of course you can only get AAC on iOS devices so this isn't an issue if you own an iPhone or iPad. Onto the battery life they say it has a 20 hour battery life and about 3 hours if you blast it. I like that Bose gave us that number as well . As far as sound goes it gets loud and the bass is decent . I wouldn't say it gets a ton of bass tho .it's also IP67 rated so you don't need to worry about bringing this outside though. .my issue with this speaker is the MSRP of $399. I have heard speakers that just sound as good if not better for under $200. At MSRP it's hard to recommend this speaker unless you don't mind the premium for the Bose name.

Thanks for your thorough review of the SoundLink Max Bluetooth speaker!

I'm happy to hear that you found the speaker easy to set up, that you're happy with its volume, and that you're quite happy with the bass performance. Don't forget that bass output can be increased by checking the bass controls on your connected device, or by moving the SoundLink Max speaker closer to a wall, or corner, or placing it on or near a hard surface. It is true that the SoundLink Max doesn't feature a built-in mic.

      Warm regards

What's in the Box ------------------------ Bose SoundLink Micro Bluetooth Speaker USB cable Owner's manual What's the Cost --------------------- About 110$ at the time of review How does it look ---------------------- it is small to fit in your palm and that is the intend. it comes with a nice rubberized strap which can be used to either strap it your backpack or bike or even your palm! it looks sturdy. it is IPX7 rated. i am not too much worried about dropping it in water or toilet but IPX7 also means that it is waterproof and well built which is more important for me It is also made of silicon rubber exterior and feels nice in hand. in addition to feeling nice, it also means that when you drop it, you dont have to worry about denting it. How does it connect -------------------------- it connects via bluetooth to any bluetooth capable device. I used my phone to test it out. i connected to my Alexa echo dot to this speaker and it connects seamlessly and plays my amazon music. it is rated at 6 hours of battery, i did not get a chance to fully test it yet. How does it sound ------------------------- i have two other bluetooth speakers at home. i have the bose soundlink mini and i also have a TDK life on record TREK 360. One thing about bose is that you can clearly hear all the instruments used and with great amount of clarity, be it the bose mini or the bose micro. I have to tell you that i am comparing apples to oranges here and i did this on purpose. I wanted to check how good/bad the speaker sounded when compared to bigger speakers. I am happy to say that i am pleasantly surprised to hear the music play on this one. it does really sounds larger than it looks. It is physically small in size which also means that the bass response will not be as good as a bigger speaker and that is expected. Should i buy it? -------------------- If you are on the go or you live in a dorm and need a small speaker and dont want headphones on all the time when you are listening to music or movies, this is a good buy. The Competion for this speaker would be the JBL Flip 2 or the UE wonderboom or roll 2. you are only a few dollars here and there, get the bose, you will be happy!!

I am quite impressed with this Bose micro speaker. It is very easy to set up (just push the Bluetooth button on it and pair it on your device). The speaker will get pretty loud at max level but you will start to hear the bass disappear and a small bit of distortion, especially depending on what type of music you want to listen to. This does best with music like rock, country, alternative or anything that isn't overly bass heavy. The overall clarity is amazing for such a small speaker setup. This speaker definitely works best in smaller rooms or small outdoor spaces. I tried using it at work in large open areas and the sound was largely diminished. It sounds the best sitting on a flat surface, as the radiator is on the bottom and needs to bounce off a surface. It does have a strap on the back you can use to attach it to some things but there is not much slack and it is not adjustable. The size is perfect. It's able to fit in my back and side pockets snugly. I would compare it to a thick wallet. I'd imagine you can use the strap on the back to put around your belt and carry around that way as well. The sound quality playing through the pocket is awesome as well. I had it in my pocket while playing and got into my car and it sounded like it was coming from the car speakers. When powering on, a woman voice will tell you how much battery life is left and what device you are connected to. The front face has volume buttons on it and has a button in between the volume to play/pause and holding down the same button will open google voice search on my Android phone. There is a built in microphone and can be used as a speakerphone during phone calls. I was told the microphone had a good clarity level when using it during a call. It has a rechargeable battery, and a 4 light indicator to show how much is left. I was able to have this speaker on full volume for just over 3 hours before the battery got too low to use. You can play and charge at the same time and it does auto power off after about 20 minutes of inactivity. The speaker comes with a charging cord (Full USB to I believe Mini-USB) but does not come with the wall plug for some reason. You can use a phone charger if it has the right end on it, but I ran into a situation where it did not like one of my charging cables, but worked fine with the provided cable. Not a huge issue. It does have a companion app you can download which is very basic. You can use it to auto pair your device with the speaker, control the volume, and also use basic music playlist controls. The neat part is you can activate party mode when two of these speakers are connected and will play in stereo when you put each one on different sides of the room. That is the only function I have not tried. Overall this speaker sounds amazing for it's size, as you would expect from a Bose product. I am only giving it 4 stars though for it's lack of a wall plug. Would definitely recommend.

Hi! Thank you for your review.

The Soundlink Micro has one 40mm Driver, where as the Soundlink Colour II has 2 40mm Drivers.
That means that the Soundlink Colour II has more capacity to produce louder audio in a larger space. bose
